Manchester United and Chelsea are battling it out for silverware again this season, just as they were last. United claimed the title, whilst Chelsea beat us in the FA Cup final. There was no contest over who’d had the better season though.
This season, we are faced with a similar situation, however the stakes are a lot higher. Our lead at the top of the table is on goal difference alone, whilst it is the European Cup we stand to lose, rather than just the FA Cup.
Who is the pressure on? Who will be victorious on the last day of the season? Who deserves to win? Click below to see the Chelsea perspective.
Joe Cole
“I think the pressure is more on Manchester United as people wrote us off months ago,” he said. “So to be in the position we are shows a great will and great strength and depth in the squad and everything.”
John Terry
“Wigan are safe now but with a great manager like Steve Bruce they are going to go for it,” he said. “If we pick up three points at home to Bolton, we have a very good chance.”
Avram Grant
“We’ve done more than I even expected, so we want to believe the season will end well and we will fight to the last minute,” he said. “United have had a fantastic season. They’ve been champions many times before but this year we have given them a good battle and it is not finished yet.”
Jose Mourinho
“I think Chelsea deserve to win the final.”

Man Utd News 24/7

mourinho cant seem to make up his mind eh? i think avram is the most realistic tbh (haha funny that).
onwards to sunday!
you lot are not thinking cleary i think that because steve bruce was managed by united and don’t you think there is going to be some kind of plan going on for us to win the title.
i don’t think chelsea deserve to win the title look at the football they play it is unattractive and it makes me sick the type of football manu united and arsenal are playing is fantastic. the boring tactics chelsea do is long ball up to drogba he holds it while a strikers or midfeild is close to him and he scores.
Wigan scored in the 94th minute against us at The Bridge.
Who’s to say they wont do it again against Utd?
The odds are against us winning the title – most of us will admit that, but the Champions League as a one off game – now thats a whole different ball game.
One thing both sets of fans know for certain – we’re the best two teams around anywhere at the moment – and there really isn’t that much between us.
Seriously, if we lose the league this year I will stop following football altogether…..
United are obviously the better team and most attractive side to look at.Chelsea are a machine .No contest, let’s derail them.
We should’ve wrapped the league up weeks ago, its frustrating that its gone down to the final game, but we’ve nobody to blame but ourselves should we not prevail.
Hopefully we’ll come out all guns blazing on Sunday and get the result we need.
I think the Newcastle game yesterday personified the type of team Chelsea are. They play such boring football and it is their sheer star power (acquired recently, thanks to roman) that gets them any success. I honestly don’t understand why you would follow chelsea unless you did before abromavich. How can someone enjoy watching this team week in and week out? It would be a travesty to the premier league if they won the title.
I hate their style but admire their persistence and their will to win
For footballs sake untd should win the lge and the european cup but chelsea will keep going to the end
The pressure is firmly on both of us. It’s been a long, hard, tough season, and we’ve both done really well to get to where they are. With all the stuff that happened to Cheslea early on (poor form, getting rid of Jose), that thye are still in with a chance of winning both competitions is really impressive.
Both teams are two games away from winning the biggest double in football, and both are two games away from winning nothing.
The pressure is firmly on both of us!!
Yeah, that second goal at St James’ was rubbish. Eight brilliant passes and a sweet finish – truly the enemies of football! Utd have had a great season, and Ronaldo has been fantastic – credit to them. But to suggest Chelsea are boring is just crass and ignorant.
chelsea are boring to suggest otherwise is to be one eyed and biased
so you scored a good goal big deal
one swallow doesn’t make a blow job.
Wigan are a totally different team under Steve Bruce, they have a certain fire about them. Paul Jewell is one of my favourite managers but if you look at our record against Wigan in recent seasons you’d be a fool to bet against us:
2007/08
United 4 – 0 Wigan
2006/07
United 3 – 1 Wigan
Wigan 1 – 3 United
2005/06
United 4 – 0 Wigan
Wigan 1 – 2 United
United 4-0 Wigan
HOWEVER, I certainly don’t think Bruce would throw the game, anyway how does a manager tell his team to not give it a go and keep respect?
Bolton have to get a result at Chelsea and I can see it happening.
I have to also add that, yes Chelsea over the last few weeks have played fairly well, especially after getting battered by Liverpool only for John Arne Riise, ooh ah, to score an own goal. That doesn’t make Chelsea a team with a philosophy like United or Arsenal though.
I’d also like to ask anyy Chelsea fans who are lurking around here what it’s like to boo your own manager week in, week out then complain when he gets sacked. Also, what it’s like when after 50 years of winning next to nothing how you believe it’s your clubs divine right to win the League after spending most of the season booing your manager, Avram the Toad. /then after a few decent games he’s THE BEST! You lot really need to know what it means to support a football club and team. Grown men in the stands of Stamford Bridge are not only thugs and Chavs but they’re about as casual about there team as a 10 year old.
Can I also add this very important fact:
Sir Alex Ferguson is the master of mind games and I would be very suprised if our players, now experienced title winners themselves go out against Wigan like a bundle of nerves.
Also, I’d just like to point out to Joe Cole if he is reading (I’m so funny) that although he say’s everyone wrote them off months ago I’d like to say by that he means the Sun and other shite from the press. Our manager and players have always noted Chelsea aren’t out of it by any means throughout the season!
It will be a great injustice if Chelsea win anything. Wonder whether their brand of negative, boring and insomnia-induced football is the cause of Roman’s absence at Stamford Bridge for these past few months. Also note the empty seats at the away section during Chelsea’s game at Newcastle.
