A week ago, people were talking about how long Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would remain as Manchester United, with tough games against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City on the horizon. However, after overseeing his team outplay Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola’s side, the talk of Mauricio Pochettino replacing Solskjaer has gone quiet.

We played devastating football at the Etihad on Saturday and should have been three or foul goals ahead by half-time.

Solskjaer was understandably delighted with the way we played and the result and in an interview with Sky Sports after the game urged supporters to go out and celebrate!

We were fantastic. At the start of the game we were exceptional. We were attacking every time we got the ball and it looked like we could carve them open every time. We could have, should have been three, four, five up and that’s testament to the boys, because they played so well. It’s so hard to play against them, and their players were coming from everywhere, every angle and the boys defended so well.

It’s a Man United performance in my mould. I love boys going forward. Of course there were times today where we didn’t keep the ball as well as we could have. But we’re improving all the time and the boys are getting experiences to remember. They’re young boys. Aaron today was again fantastic, Fred was unbelievable and our keeper is back to his best.

The preparation the coaching team does is fantastic and the boys executed their plan to perfection and their keeper made some decent saves. We created so many chances. You can talk about our defending today, but you have to say that our attacking play especially in the first half was absolutely fantastic. Every time we had the ball I felt that we could score.

We painted the city red. Tonight we will have to enjoy ourselves. There’ll be a couple glasses of red wine for me tonight. This result is up there with PSG, definitely, and we’re so happy for the supporters as well. Just go out in town and enjoy yourself!
