Rio Ferdinand and Michael Owen have been sharing the post-match thoughts early this morning.
Rio: Up early adrenaline still pumping! What does Park Ii Sung have pre match? Unleaded or diesel? He is a machine. Top player! Chicarito=goals! Giggs. I’m not even going to go into it the guy = LEGEND! By the way WE are not a team WE are a SQUAD. Everyone plays a role at some point.
Michael Owen: No better feeling than waking up the next morning after a win. Training ground will be buzzing this morning.

Man Utd News 24/7

Forgot about Owen…
I’d say we’re all on a hihh. Always feels great going to work after a big win, just a big smile for the pool supporting boss.
No mention of rios knock / injury from last night?
Woke up with a headache (kick off was 01.45 AM) but feeling so great.
bring on City
Great post from Rio about Park! Though he was our man of the match yesterday! That goal he scored was absolutely crucial to shut them up.
Still buzzing myself, sore throat today though but well worth it as East stand was rocking last night, in fact it is the first time I have thought it was louder than Stretty end.
PS – dont want to bang on about Carrick but aside from Rooney and Park who were class I thought Carrick was superb! confidence.
Did any one notice the advert at half time , its showed Chelsae fans and at the end it read some thing like witnessing history. lol
I had to have the day off work today because of last nights match. And i’m still not quite recovered. bring on barca.
As was the stretty giggs11gerrard0, one of the good OT nights, now for citeh!!!
@Mattbw7
Indeed mate the stretty end is always quality, and in the East stand we have pockets like K stand where there is a good few who are continually vocal but the whole stand last night seemed to be rocking!
Did you see the the lads get thrown out for getting out the LUHG flag? Apparantly had their season tickets taken off them.
Ji Sun Park was colossal. He tracked them down, hunted them, tackled, robbed, and then scored too. Even at 91 minutes he was as eager to get the ball and set chicharito up and then track back to win the ball. He has time and time proven his worth in a big game and today was no different. (I am in Los Angeles and the day is still not over).
Arise, Sir Ryan Giggs, i have to compare him to Sachin Tendulkar, these guys are 17 year olds trapped in a body which is 37. Just like Sachin, Giggs might not be as flamboyant with his runs now but just take a look at how he is using all his experience.
As Rio said, we are not a team but a squad, be it Tony, Sheasy or Nani, everyone played their part.
And the last mention is reserved for someone whom i have loved and hated for two years… Micheal Carrick. He is slowly and surely getting his game back. Without looking too far forward, It is time he exorcised his demons against Barca and get his soul back which he left in Rome in 2009.
@giggs11gerrard0
Was in the East stand last night, you’re right it was the best I’ve seen it, it was fantastic, I got goosebumps at some stages, and I love the way we responded to the stretty and they responded to us, best atmosphere I’ve ever seen in my time at OT!!!
LUHG flag..what’s that?
@bobbycharlie1968
It was mate it was class, when the calypso got going and then straight into Viva John Terry – Brilliant
John O’Shea’s ball through to Giggs for the 1st assist…. legendary!!
Highlights are up here all:

@shubhangmanred
It is the Love United Hate Glazer theme mate!
noticed rio used his left leg for kicking the ball after the knock. he can barely run but still had torres and anelka and co in his back pocket!
GGMU
Morning lads! Finally got the best of Chelsea after a while.
Rio is right about Park. How many lungs does he have anyway, lol.
what a night lads, old trafford was rocking, best atmosphere in a long time
come on utd!!!
Chelsea is blue; well, of course they are, particularly after this one. Delicious. Give them some glimmer of hope only to snatch it back 21 seconds later. Delicious!
It’s nice to see that Torres has infected Chelsea with some kind of a Liverpool virus
Giggs, Giggs, Giggs… What more can u say? Brilliant is to weak a word to describe one of our biggest legends ever…
Assuming we beat Schalke, which of Barca/Real would we want to get in the final and why?
Morning Lads
Feeling it today after getting home from the game last night (travelling home to west london to be up at 530 for work and trying to sleep with adrenaline pumping is always going to be difficult)
Great tweets from Rio, and Mickey O this morning. Tweeted Rio back saying Park seems to be taking tips off Kanchelskis and Edgar Davids on how to run around like a mad man for 90+ minutes.
Also did anyone see Mickey O’s tweet about how he has a very important goal coming soon. Said he doesnt where or when it will be but he just feels hes due one.
Costas was that you tweeting about Park having 3 lungs?
http://hastorresscoredforchelsea.com/
it was enough to shut em up! But do u knw y? Chelsea played 11 against their normal 4mation in the epl where they a 12 atkinson playin evywhere.giggsy,chicha,park…..i mean,evybdy kudos!
To giggs11gerrard0 says:
“Did you see the the lads get thrown out for getting out the LUHG flag? Apparantly had their season tickets taken off them.”
Was that towards the east corner of the stretty, saw some commotion but we are a bit higher up about midway in top tier, tell you what me worried at Fulham and last night a steward walked up to our row and looked down it, I swear this texting business is getting out of hand I reckon people are just doing random stuff cos apart from the usual chanting and singing theirs never any drama in our section.
Fantastic 2nd half at OT. At times we played as though a lower league team is playing. and Park’s response goal was fabulous… Cant start or stop about Roooneyehhhh..
Scott, wouldn’t you agree Rooney’s current form is thanks to our home and away fans constantly backing him up before he got into his scoring form?
@St Scholes Of Salford
No it wasn’t me mate. I think he has more actually.
That’s a very encouraging tweet by Owen. Given our next game..
Three Lung Park was immense – great goal, great game.
Thats it RIO… WE are a Squad. Thats the difference.
Chelsea have flogged Terry, Lampard, Essien and Drogba to death, but if those players were the back bone of a FERGUSON team, you can bet he would set about reinforcing each position. Competition for spaces removes pressure from players as well as adds it. Look at our approach to forwards, Rooney and Berbatov were already on board but we still signed Owen and Hernandez and we’re still blooding Kiko, Welbeck and Diouf, not to mention the other Kids constantly coming through. Its the same in midfield and defence. We’ll still be a huge threat without Rooney against City and they know it, because having a Squad bred for rotation is a big part of our success. Most “Teams” don’t know anything about that, even at the so called millionaire clubs, and it shows when it counts. RIO YOU FUCKING GANGSTA !!!
THERES ONLY ONE ENGLISH CAPTAIN
TOO BAD CAPELLO NEVER BACKED HIM
ONE ENGLISH CAAAAAAAAAAAPTIN…..
@Costas, I was watching House M.D. yesterday and laughed at loud at what Dr. House would have to say at all the non-stop running Park does. I wonder what his diagnostic would be of Park’s “condition”.
Ferdinand hit the nail on the head when he said we are not a team, we are a squad. We all feel sorry for Berba but I am sure he would be the first one to say that playing Rooney and Chicha was the best move against Chelsea.
The greatest thing is that Berba will come back on against City most likely and will net the goal that leads to the victory. Berba has had his moments in the past few weeks even though he has not played that much. He is like the seceret nuclear weapon you have underground. When things are not going your way as happened against Bolton and West Ham, you unleash the weapon and he gives you the victory.
That is the biggest advantage of having the squad that we do. And just to think, had Valencia not had that horror injury, the league would be done and dusted. And we still have Fletcherino and Anderson to come back. We need only minimal reinforcements in the summer if, as expected, Rooney does take over from Scholes. The Master is at Work again!
I was worried when rio was limping last night but apparently its only a bang, united need him and vidic at the back for the big games ahe, both are immense and if rio can stay fit for the rest of the season, it would be fantastic.
Rio’s performance shows why so many still consider him the BEST Centre Half in Europe, because when he’s on the pitch, HE IS. Positioning and timing is everything and Rio has that in abundance, plus experience. It was a solid performance from him. Smalling is a great player developing well, but you want your old, battle-hardened war-horses for these big games. Together with Vidic at the back Rio plays like a moving brick wall. Solid.
I really think hernandez is bringing the best out of wayne rooney, the mexican main aim is to get behind defences and score goals, his pace is a massive threat which gives rooney the space to work his magic.
Wayne was outstanding, i always maintain he is the best technically gifted english player currently playing, however he needs to continue this way and drag united over the line.
The good thing about how sir alex manages the squad is, he makes everyone feel like they’re involved, he shares games around and keeps players fresh and hungry, you can imagine berbatov will be back for the city game wanting to prove a point yet again even though he is the leading goal scorer in the premier league, he will be a frustrated animal let loose so lets hope he takes it out on city.
If we somehow end up meeting shalke 04, (which is still a probability as you never know with inter) then we must not underestimate them, german team’s are a potential banana skin and we have to perform at oUr best to get past them.
@ Costas
Mickey O’s tweet was : ‘As ive said, i dont know where, dont know when, but there is an important goal to come from me this season – Mark my words’
Encouraging words, he seems desperate to get a goal. I mean come, its not as if hes ever scored an important goal against Citeh before is it
Does anyone else find it ironic that the person who wanted to leave Old Trafford citing that we don’t have what it takes to win a trophy is the centrepiece of a team aiming to win all three trophies in their sigh? Oh, the irony!
@parjo : I was exactly watching last night match at the same like u did, 1.45 AM, is it possible u live in a same country as mine? Lol.. Anyway, park goal was superb, but MOTM I think has to be Giggsy. Bring on the shitty scum.
woke up with a migraine, the only migraine that i wud enjoy for our vixtory..
certainly the red rum and the red army kicks better than anything in this world..
nice tweet by RIO, as usual..
good to banter some chelsea collegues at office
but what a vicrtoy!!!.. dominance..
all the 3 goals of this ficture are assisted by our ever green ryan giggs
hope he continues to play few more years..
the ugly side of manchester is next waiting in the line, and they know the outcome, even without ROO
GGMU
Rooney’s unavailable, Hernandez needs rest…so Owen and Berbatov to start and tear a new one into Citeh?
@ Balaji,
Maybe Rooney is a genius and used reverse psychology on the rest of the club, including SAF to make them all want to prove him wrong lol.
Wouldnt put him as our center piece though, for me personally VDS has been our center piece and stand out player of the season so far, I’d say more so than Nani.
@WHAT ??? – i agree, rio composure is his biggest attribute, and then you have the beast of serbia alongside him who physically is built like a machine and an absolute collossus in the air.
And i seem to have forget but how does giggs do it? 37year old and skips past players 10 years younger, he has got better as he gets older, his first touch and composure is of the highest standard, when he retires he’ll be standing down as one of the greatest players to have graced the beautiful game, i don’t think we can replace him or scholes but we need to bring players through who are close to there talents, pogba and ravel morrisson make me dream
@St. Scholes, Yeah, the centrepiece of the overall season have been VDS, Nani and Vidic. However, the centrepiece of the current team that is going to take us over the finish line has to be Rooney. His return to form has perfectly coincided with our run of 7 victories after 2 consecutive defeats.
Yesterdays result proved one thing to me…if you really want to achieve something…buying your way to it is not ideal…I really feel Chelsea messed up everything the day they bought Torres…SAF got it absolutely bang on…they got obssesed with the UCL and that made them make a huge 50 Million mistake…
Torres might still make it up next year and be a 50 million player(doubt is he wil be fit) but Roman, Anceloti. Torres will never forget this season…At least Drogba wont let them…
Not a Sun newspaper reader but the headline “a quickie in the PARK gives United a SEMI” made me laugh!!
About Rio…he was amzing…but I really doubt if he would have stayed on the pitch had this been against Barca or Real…SAF is a great manager in they way he trusts his players and lets them decide if they want to come off…Amazing man management…you cant teach this stuff at Harvard Business School…can you?
rooney feels like the world is against him, the two unnecessary match bans has turned him to an angry beast waiting to crash anyone standing in his way, sir alex must have built a siege mentality around him, this days he doesn’t argue with the refs, even when kicked and axed down he gets on with it and this is just great because an Angry rooney will demolish team’s and i’m excited at what the season brings
@MikeKelly12
Just saw that myslef and couldnt stop laughing, absolute genious comment!
If we didnt have to play against 12 men when playing Chelski in the league, we would have won 19 last season and be almost over the line for 20 this season.
@R8devil
There are many instances like that though like not beating West Ham in 95 etc etc
A good morning to all my fellow reds.. ahh what a great feeling it is going to work after a great win like last night! Bring on shitty! Squad is really coming into play now can see us playing a very similar team to the one that played Fulham at the weekend.
Well done to the whole team last night, thought it was a thoroughly good team performance but I have to say Ji Sung was stand out player for me, what a player he is! He is bluemotion defined! Park, Park wherever you may be..
@Balaji
Lol, House could devote an entire season on Park.
Hopefully Berba has a few crucial goals in him. Thus far, he has been really professional about his situations. I can only imagine how a certain former striker would have reacted if he was our top scorer and was benched so often..
@Samuel – Agreed on Giggsy, nearly got on the end of Rooney’s cross to put the game beyond Chelsea even earlier. Crucial assists for both goals. His show reel since a teen must be incredible, but I still think he’s got another Season in him. LEGEND.
Rio = Long John silver.
Triple aces! Winning in Europe = Aces. Watching Chelsea fail miserably = aces.
Both on the same night, with us to blame for Chelsea’s crash? ACES!
Roll on Saturday!
SB
was at the East stand last night! sang my hearts out with the other supporters and had a bad sore throat today..the only down side to the day was a Chelsea Rent Boy hurling racist remarks at me labeling me a ‘chinky bastard’. it was no need for that seriously.. what a twat..ruined my otherwise perfect trip to old trafford.
Giggs11. Hello mate. Great night wasn’t it. Yeah east stand were loud last night. I sit in north stand tier two and even that was loud last night. Was it me or were those rentboy cunts chanting “you’re gonna win fuck all“? You couldn’t make it up. Their support was pathetic. Horrible chav bastards.
A fucking top top night. I fucking love this club.
notice how this season we’ve ended arsenal’s, chelsea’s, and hopefully on saturday citeh’s hopes of silverware?
