When its an even playing field of course we can beat them (See Champions League) but who here hand on heart thinks it will be an even playing field at OT when we play them. Especially if we don’t get anything out the game tomorrow. Don’t get me wrong I think we’ll get at least a point tomorrow but with our away form the way it has been all season you never know. It will be 11 vs 14 at OT, there will be at least 2 controversial decisions if not more and none will go in our favour.
The most obvious thing that proves that F.A. are anti-United to even the most cynical and biased anti-United fans is this: Atkinson, Mariner etc. are selected to officiate Chelsea matches even though they’ve time and again made decisions that have favored Chelsea one way or the other.
However, Howard Webb was perceived to be favoring United when he gave the penalty against Spurs in 2009 (which BTW I think was right from his POV) and has officiated very few United matches since. In fact, I don’t remember him officiating any of our games this season.
Therein lies the point, if the F.A. think Webb favors us, then he should not officiate our games. But that is the same decision that should be made for Atkinson and Mariner also, which obviously does not happen.
If that doesn’t prove that the F.A. is anti-United to all shitheads. Nothing will.
Oh, and we are still winning the 19th this season. That’s for sure.
On-topic, I think Owen should be offered a year’s contract. For many reasons, one he is happy and content to do what he does here. Obviously, he knows he will get bigger games than what he gets if he plays for Stoke City or some other mid-to-lower table side. Plus he will be paid marginally better than if he were playing for those sides. He is also happy to play his part whenever called upon and knows he will get a lot of chances in the Cup games and the later stages of the season. And his experience is absolutely invaluable for people like Hernandez, even Rooney, Welbeck and all the other youngsters in the team.
I was just wondering today how happy I will be for him if he is able to get an important goal this season like he talked about on Twitter. I think many people will be happy if something like that happens. Obviously, getting a goal in the Champions League final will be great like he talks and that is also exactly what I imagined happening today.
