Unfortunately, at the last minute, there was a change in the people who were going to be interviewed, so I sent over a few questions for the new line-up, including these for Park Ji-Sung.
Some United fans fondly refer to you as “Three lung Park” because of your work rate. How do you feel about that nickname?
Park: Actually, maybe I have three lungs. I’m not sure. Stamina is my strength. Maybe, I am eating good Korean food that makes me run.
Are you still friends with a certain former teammate that now plays at City?
Park: I don’t think about leaving Man United. It is the best club in the world. I don’t know why they would want to leave.

The annoying thing about Tevez is that hating Manchester and being desperately homesick doesn’t seem to affect his fucking form! Even after handing in a retracting a transfer request last season, he continued to be City’s best player by a mile and stealing half of Berba’s golden boot (albeit with a few penalties)*. For all his unprofessional conduct off the pitch, he still seems to give 100% on it, no matter what the situation.
Which is why I’m annoyed this Corinthians transfer has bottomed out. Even if he’s only at Shitty until January when they finally sort something out, the thought of him and Aguero on the same pitch for the first half of the season is not a pleasant one…
*Speaking of the golden boot, when it’s tied, why can’t they award it to the player who’s scored the fewest penalties along the way? Seems perfectly fair to me.

I think Gabby Obertan deserves some praise for his contribution. He set up i think 2/3 goals, scored a goal and had some really good movement. It was also nice to see some of his crosses improved and are now more like Valencia’s crosses.
This boy is promising and I won’t write off him turning into an anelka/rivaldo type player for us. He may get taken the mick of but he is young and will improve.

How clinical was Rooney’s finishing last night? It’s boarderline unfair when he’s in that sort of mood, especially against an MLS side’s B team. That wasn’t a friendly in the 2nd half, it was practice. Didn’t like seeing Rio pick up a little niggle, nor Amos feeding him (as the announcer beautifully desrcibed it) a “hospital ball.” Don’t read lips kids, pretty sure Rio made his own fristrations known, proper scolding, doubt SAF even had to talk to Ben about it after, probably felt bad for the lad after the tongue lashing he got on the pitch.

Its funny, I remember people at the time said he cost too much and he wasn’t worth it. That was bollocks then and its bollocks now. I try not to judge players off the pitch, so say what you want about Rooney he is world class, and tbh Tevez is no different. At the time I thought over-paying for Berbatov before rewarding Tevez for services already rendered was bad form. Even if Berbatov has more class, which he does, Tevez has already proved to all his critics that his asking price 2 seasons ago was a bargain, and for all the bollocks that surrounds modern players, he is more ruthless upstairs than a lot of strikers I could mention, so credit where its due. Tevez could walk into any Club in the world, and his 20+ goals per season are the only reason City are in Europe with the big boys.
Fuck knows 100% why he left United, but at the time I remember saying we should wrap him up before signing a Spud. Only Gill knows why we took so long to offer Tevez a proper contract, when it was David Villa we didn’t fuck about we made an offer. Same with Benzema, we didn’t fuck about, we made an offer. Tevez is a better player than both those strikers, but for some reason we fucked about and didn’t pay his worth. Like I said only Gill knows, but if a player feels he is world class and he’s being mugged about, I don’t blame them for leaving and proving a point. We spent 30M on Berbatov before we offered Tevez a contract for 25M. He might be a twat but he’s got pride you gotta give him that. Anderson, the KFC man, failed to impress again last night. If he can’t be solid against the Seattle midfield, then he cant be relied upon this season. The whole point of pre-season is to get into shape for the Season, and Anderson is still as fast as anyone in our squad, and he’s still too strong to be barged off a ball by anyone. I saw one or two passes over the top go astray, and one shot go over, but other than that it was a solid performance considering the pitch he was playing on. Anderson has looked decent on tour so far imo. It was only him and Giggs in midfield last night and they covered the defence well. I like the idea of Anderson playing further back in the Carrick role, he’s got the skill to put in a tackle and to bring it forward and distribute. Guess we all see the game differently. To each their own.

It was funny at one point at about the 35 minute mark, first Evra, then Giggs, the Rio had a right go at him for being outta position in that “Carrick” role. Agree with you though, good push going forward, strong on the ball and making better decisions. The unfortunate thing for any United midfielder is, anytime we see a ball over the top go astray we immediately think, “Scholes would’ve put that on his toe.”

Costas, Agree with your very appropriate wait and let it settle approach. I said it on the last thread as well. Much of the problem that Ando is blamed for was down to the pitch. I did watch the entire game and it was very strange, like all the forwards were failing to get off on their quick runs. Ando and others were putting great balls forward and it seemed none of the forwards could be bothered to get to them. Watch the first 10 minutes and you will see that several players came off to change their boots.
So here is the deal. The game was played on a really crappy temporary grass that was coming unhinged all over the park. Seattle plays on a synthetic pitch because they get ungodly rain in winter. United made them put in grass for our one game. Just like at Wembley last year when Michael Owen and Rio were injured, the loose turf was coming up all over the pitch. It made for some very bad play and lots of missed balls. Both keepers had at least one major blunder because the ball just wasn’t rolling properly. Think Rio got injured in the final minutes because of missed pass from Amos.
Water under the bridge now, but stop blaming Ando. The pitch was dreadful. The fans were great and who can say a word against 70K showing up for a preseason friendly. Lets move on.

Thanks for the info mate. I didn’t know that there were pitch issues on top. Who knows? That might have put some of our player off their game. But in all honesty, I’ve stopped caring about friendlies a long time ago. I’ve seen lads like Tosic and Obertan have blinders in them, but never carry that onto the actual season. And at the same time, some of our top players won’t be on top of their game this early. I don’t particulary care for the Community Shiled either since it’s also a glorified friendly. Once all was done , the club felt it cud proceed , they signed tevez on a 2 year loan deal with an agreed cost for each year plus salary and the final figure.
2 GLARING reasons why, legally if anything blewup they cud pull out, secondly the clubs finances.
It was a risky and uncertain time for us,financially.The club spent record amounts in total in transfers but contra’d that with sales amounting to 36 mil pounds. So actual outlay was minimum.
Now conclude all that Tevez said about Fergie and the club, he loved us .
What changed?
Our club tried to negotiated a lower fee with Kia and his billionaire friends. Our finances and with world recession ,with the trouble British bank were in for example, it was unstable and risky for our club. The club pulled out of a refinancing deal under advicement that financial markets were in the verge of collapse.
Kia/billionaire friends did not take kindly to this. They did not get into this to babysit, they wanted thier big payday for thier venture.

The way i view it….SAF will bring in a midfielder that can replace Hargreaves.Last season he seemed to have the hope that Hargreaves would recover and play some part in the midfield.And one of the major drawbacks of last season was that we lacked determination to regain possession and provide the energy for our attacks.At times we were very lethargic last season.Carrick has a more casual style and his game is more based upon reading play and making intercepts.This has its merits,but always sitting back allows teams build their attacks more.Anderson is more of a AM,and while for some games he may hustle well, he will never be consistent enough.Which leaves only Fletcher, who struggled for form early last season.

It’s time to bring back that fear factor which was there when keano played.. Though Carrick is effective as the shielder it’s been quite some time since we had a tough tackling player in the middle of the park.. Though Scholesy was poor at tackling, he certainly made sure that the opposition knew he was there.. I wouldn’t be surprised if SAF deployed him in front of the back 4 and told

Bossy midfield doesn’t always guarantee a win. The Master has a huge responsibility because we like to play entertaining football. Too many teams were coming here and parking the bus. Sir Alex said a while ago, after Ronaldo left, ‘we’ll go 4-4-2 and see how it goes’. Let them have the midfield. Let them come at us. He’s now strengthened defence, wings and goal scoring department. Last season teams started to come out and battle for the middle. This season I think the master has a plan to counter that.

Good point. Nani spent most of last season surrounded by defenders who knew he was our main creative outlet on the counter. How he still managed to assist and score so many is brilliant. But your right, now that we’ve got Young alongside Valencia and Nani any team attempting to come at us like they did last season will find themselves getting battered. Before, when we won back possession in defence or midfield we’d sometimes lose it because we didn’t have many options going forward. With Nani and Young crossing flanks we’ll be pulling teams apart at the back and creating space to run into.

Carrick does look like a good player when we play inferior opposition. Its like he has a mental issue when the players around him are seen as better than him (which to be fair is quite alot of players) he goes back into his shell of only passing the ball to the back four or sideways and generally panicking when on the ball. This seems to be an issue with most of the players in the England squad as displayed in all the International tournaments of recent years.
Maybe Capello needs to hire a psychiatrist/hypnotist to make them believe they are actually playing against Joe Bloggs from the local pub team as opposed to some of europes elite midfielders.

Ferguson is clearly a legend, yes, and the greatest British manager since Clough.
However, he is not beyond criticism. Yes, he has shown an outstanding ability to change and adapt to different challenges and build numerous successful teams, but he does make the odd mistake. It is not ‘ungrateful’ to recognise this. Just because one may not agree with the manager on every tactical decision or signing doesn’t mean everyone else has the right to round on them and start verbally abusing them. Some people may rate a play, some may not. Some may agree with every decision, others may not.
