Following his move to QPR, Ji-Sung Park has spoken with fondness about his time at Manchester United.
“My time at United will last in my heart for the rest of my life,” he told the official site. “It’s been a great privilege to be part of such a great team, to have won so much and to have played with special teammates and for the greatest manager in the game. I would like to thank everybody at the club who give their best every single day to put every player in the best condition to enjoy their football and achieve success. The fans have been fantastic to me and I will always remember them with great affection. Now, I’m looking forward to giving everything for a new challenge at QPR, where I will bring all my ambition and spirit I have gathered at United. [Those qualities] will be with me forever.”

Fantastic servant to the club. As humble as they come. He worked hard and had a great engine. But what goes untold was his indefatigable spirit to win on the pitch. The lad never complained and just got on with the job the manager asked him to do. It’s no accident that SAF picked Park for the really big games because he was a big game player.
I shall miss him. I even went to one of his Krazy Burger franchise stores that he owns in Seoul, South Korea. They were pretty tasty burgers. Mmmmm.
And as I said the other day, he really deserved to be on the bench in Moscow. Poor guy.

So fare well, Ji-sung, it’s been good to know you. He was a fantastic team-player, who never stopped working for the team, the manager and us, the fans. He never caused any trouble, he was faithful to the club throughout all his time at United, and I’ll always think of him with fondness, remembering some cracking goals in big matches. The one great sadness is that he didn’t even get on the bench for the 2008 Champions League Final in Moscow, which I thought a mistake. He handled it with great dignity, just as berba did in 2011 when he was also – wrongly- excluded from the match day squad against Barca. Ji-Sung will now be playing for one of my nearby clubs, QPR, and I hope he gets to live near me, or at least shop in the same shops so I can thank him in person or what he did at United.

It must have been very difficult to make the transition from South Korea to the Netherlands and then to Manchester United – but he did it and with distinction.
Always gave 100%, never gave up, always played for the team and never let us down either on or off the pitch.

The development of the lads, addition of Kagawa will free Wazza up to flow, roam develop the full potential of the other parts. Like water Wazza puts his talents to best serve team. You know Park was a Quality player for us when you can’t remember off hand all the important goals he scored in HUGE games. Not to mention his consistency season after season. QPR have landed a solid midfielder make no mistake – and he’s not past it lads he was out of form last season. Im disappointed we’ve sold and I doubt we’re bringing in anybody else tbh.
Still, the Barca friendly should be “interesting”. We’ve now got a new midfield nucleus with an average age of 22 and they’re backed by senior players like Carrick Giggs and Scholes. Letting Park go has to be a statement of expectation from Alex to those youngsters and I could think of worse ways to start the season.

As much as i’ve praised park and respect him, i’ve never called him a legend and i don’t think many have. He’s humble, hard-working, performed to the best his actual abilities could deliver. Park is and will never dazzle on the pitch but he’s very intelligent and understands the game tactically, he balanced out the team with his discipline when united had attacking players on the pitch. Park did his fair share at united and will be remembered for it. Not legend but contributed to the success of the team in his own style. Again, good fortune to you ji.

Barca play with seven midfielders three advanced and your team then has nowhere to go your swamped and any danger man is nullified as you cant get the ball,good ball to him.Way I see it the only way is to match the numbers in midfield and therefore nullify their system.And United don’t have the numbers or ability to play that system
Well, Barca are coming of age. The system and philosofy is great, but players like Xavi, Villa and Puyol are not growing on a tree. They are cash strapped so need Fabregas to be the next big thing.
IMO United didn’t show up against them. I couldn’t recognise the team. We are not as good as them, but could have fought them better.

Different opposition require different players – but with Ando, Tom and Kagawa flanked by Valencia and Nani with Rooney up top in a 4-5-1 I would fancy our chances against any team that plays through the middle. True, maybe we haven’t had enough ability in midfield since we knocked them out but based on who we’ve brought in and who we’ve kept I wouldn’t be surprised to see that young midfield using the ball better. Its not like we didn’t see glimpses around this time last year with Ando and Tom linking up, so add Kagawa and an in form Rooney in a 4-5-1 and it looks v promising in Europe imo.

Was at a Barbie the other night and was speaking to a guy who used to work with Phil Jones’ dad. He’s spoke to Phil himself plenty of times and considers himself a mate. He gave us some good info on him and shared somethings Phil had spoke with him about.
He told me that Jones himself would prefer to become a midfielder rather than a centre back, yet conceded his abilities in reality are actually more suited to the CB role.

If you’ve read Sir Alex’s autobiography, the one point he highlights is that he’s never dishonest with his players. He always lets them know why he has made a particular decision and why a player has been dropped and so on. We may not agree with the marginalization of players like Park and Berbatov, I certainly do not. But one thing is for sure is that Sir Alex would’ve been honest with them. He would’ve said to both of them why he required them at the start of the season. Then as the season progressed, he would’ve been in their ears constantly updating them as to why they’ve not played as much they would’ve liked.
Listen, we may not agree with Sir Alex’s decisions, I certainly don’t. But to call him as not being honest when we don’t know what happens within the four walls of the dressing room is just being plain ignorant.
In a way I tend to agree with Yang, although he comes across as being daft as fuck….

Around Christmas time Park stated that he wanted to end his carear at United. He was obviously happy with his role in the squad.
I don’t think manager must be honest to players, To be honest is not a job specification of football team manager. I understand why Fergie keep unnecessary players for make sure smooth transition.
Park has been a squad player for whole of his career for one reason or another but last season, he is not even a squad player in my mind, Do you think Berbatov even a squad player for last season? I am not sure about that.
I don’t know Fergie actually talk to each player that they are not in his plan but I admit that it is my guess but I don’t think Fergie made it clear they should move out next season.

Yang. I do think the Gaffer is honest with his players. If he wasn’t then it’s hard to fathom how he could have had wonderful relations with his players even after they leave the club (exception being Roy Keane). Maybe he did keep Parky as cover for Young and there is nothing wrong in that. Its all a part of building a squad. The Gaffer has always moved on players whom he felt could not offer anymore to the club.
