  5. sirryangiggs says:

    :D

  6. wazza says:

wow, just amazing.what is he thinking ?

  7. anderson8 says:

    Brilliant. He hates scousers!

  8. PeeJay says:

Never liked him and his foul on Ronnie didn’t help him.

  9. sagar says:

    penny for your thoughts phil

  10. unitedgirl15 says:

    Hahaha!

  11. keanesmagichat says:

    pee-jay

    what are you on about??

  12. JTrappe says:

    @keanesmagichat

i think he means at the start of the season ronnie was half on the floor with the ball and phil came in and clattered him with a tackle

    great pic though

  13. Macheda is GOD says:

Dear dear me,”Man u” fan Scott?
Never mind it was an honest mistake.

  14. Gman says:

P.Neville is a second or third class legend for Man Utd gotta love him!!

  15. Anon says:

give the benefit of doubt to u Scot, took this from a blue’s site did ya?
fucking brilliant pic tho, one for the ages!

  16. El Stig says:

Totally off-topic, but I just walked past 20Legend along w/ his wife and kids around the corner from where I live, which is totally surreal given that a) I would have assumed he’d be in Manchester or at least England at the moment, and b) I live in downtown Oslo (which in any case is 300 miles from where his family lives), and c) 20LEGEND IS IN THE HOOD. He looked very happy indeed and you have to think it’s a great omen for the game on Tuesday.

  17. vidic will get ya15 says:

don’t think scot wrote that it looks like a draft from tha net

  18. bchilds says:

You can take Phil out of United…..

  19. PeeJay says:

To all the believers of the urban myth that
says that Man U is a derogative term for United,
you show nothing but ignorance. Man U has
been a nickname like any other for years and
while you might get a few WikiReds telling
you off for saying Man U, rest assured
that it is an entirely respectable nickname.

  20. manc. says:

you know what’s respectable ? not insulting previous utd players who gave their all for the team.

  21. pej says:

is this actually real? it does look slightly photoshopped

  22. Sash Sylvarre says:

    manc. 18:29,

    I second that.

  23. keanesmagichat says:

    manc

    top man, exactly..

  24. stretfordendole says:

well he could have missed his pen, that would have proved to us that he is still a fan as much as this pic. I suppose the own goal 2 seasons ago proved it well.

Good Luck in the final Phil, hope it’s you raising the Cup.

  25. Red-Manc says:

    BORN AND BRED!

Best of luck phil, hope you win it atleast it will be a Manc picking up the trophy ;)

  26. EastStandManc says:

It’s obvious Scott didn’t write the text in the picture.

And PeeJay, if it’s an ‘entirely respectable nickname’, why aren’t we calling the likes of Sheffield United and Dundee United, Sheff U and Dun U respectively?

    You know exactly why.

Just because a generation of kids and media pundits have grown up *unaware* of its origins, doesn’t *change* its origins.

  27. Scott the Red says:

Oh just read the comments above. No of course I didn’t write “Man U”. Pssh. What do you take me for?

And for those of you arguing in favour of “Man U” you’re showing yourself up as someone from outside our wonderful city. No one here refers to us as anything or than United or reds. This Man U bollocks is cockney and sounds shit, aside from any of the Munich connotations that come with it.

    “I fackin ate Maaaaan U.”

    *shudder*

  28. Adam says:

I was cringing at the ‘Man U’ bit but was quite confident it weren’t you Scott! lol

  29. n667 says:

he stood there with his arms folded, he could have just stood there n not celebrated, he wanted show his respect to the club and wanted to make sure our fans saw it/ wish there more players in this mould.

  30. Drew Vader says:

Phil looks bored because he has been victorious in semi finals loads of times. It was the first time for the rest of those lads.

    Remember the chant from Everton…

Phil Neville, super star, got more medals than steve gerrard!!!

  31. Devilton says:

I look at Phil the Thrill and I see a man who is bitterly disappointed with how Berbatov took his peno! :)

Top pic. Once a Red, always a Red (even if he does wear blue)

  32. Little Miss says:

Ha ha lol maybe Gary had a few words with him about celebrations before the match :)

I honestly feel so ashamed for asking this… but what Munich connotations come with ‘Man U’? I don’t mean the actual Munich disaster, but the connections it has with ‘Man U’. Personally, I just don’t like referring to United as ‘Man U’ as I think it sounds chavvy.

  33. RN says:

@Pjay man U is not a nick name… Its an insult made to sound ok by constant use by ABU media and naive teen fans (mostly in east asia). Its origin was from the chant.. Man u are …… And Man u never came back home (see munich). But what can one do against hordes of zombie fans slurping fast food and uttering Man U in between breaths. In few years time even ‘Ma oo’ wont surprise me.

  34. Colin McMurray says:

RN, unfortunately true..most people I encounter in Malaysia who follow United aren’t aware of the difference between Man U and Man Utd. And I found myself correcting them almost by reflex when it comes up.

  35. PeeJay says:

Considering I grew up in M44 I think I’m qualified
to say and I remember it being a normal nickname.

As for wonderful, what’s wonderful about Manchester
    apart from Old Trafford?

  36. RN says:

@pjay you wanna try darfur or baghdad, people live there you know. You are right, its a normal nickname now. Ma Oo coming soon…

  37. Scott the Red says:

PeeJay – You’re a Manc? And you call United Man U and don’t think there’s anything wonderful about Manchester apart from Old Trafford?

Honestly? I’ve never met anyone like you.

  38. themarkedman72 says:

look closely his right foot has moved..the right foot was everton, the rest united for life.

  39. Carrick's Fucking Magic says:

    class

  40. jespermoses says:

Man U is not an acceptable name but that dosent take anything away from the classic picture.

  41. trevor says:

Some people talk about the foul on Ronaldo – What was wrong with that! It was a comitted Player doing his job!

When P Nev was at united i wasnt his biggest fan but i respected what he did for the club, He never let us down! I remember him playing central midfield against arsenal and was one of the best players on the field that day!

If we compare him and john oshea who do you think would provide a higher standard of performance each week? I would go with P Nev!

  42. Chris20LEGEND says:

    PeeJay, Fuck off you Muppet..

  43. Med Red says:

    Picture says it all.

Hey Stretfordendole. Are you saying Terry is a RED too. He missed his pen, remember?

  44. OTRed says:

Meh, I had a grudge against him the way he treated Ronaldo when we drew away to them, but fairplay to him, much respect for resisting the urge to celebrate what must have been a huge event for him. RESPECT.

  45. bossdem says:

theres only one united, and manchester is the home of united. but im struggling to think of anything else that manchester has of any note that isnt anywhere else in the country. seems a bit of a dive to be honest!

    oh manchester, oh manchester,
    is wonderful, is wonderful,
    oh manchester is wonderful,
its full of peejays fanny an united
    oh manchester is wonderful

  46. rite$h says:

Could only have been P.Neville, not Howard, else he would not have stopped 2 shots.
By the way its not ‘man u.’ … sounds like a scouser or anti ‘man united’ fan here :D

  47. cherry says:

For me, United fans outside England should not be blamed for refering to United as man.U. For God sake United has the greatest following on earth and not all of us are from the UK. plus we dont understand ur system over there as much as to know what is insulting in just a simple expression like Man.U. I hate it when folks referred to themselves as the real United fans just because they live in England. For me, every fan is a real fan regardless of his/her geographical location. I know a lot of people who would refer to united as Man.U in good faith. If I have the chance I would go to every United match, learn all the chants, etc but I dont have it. So, let’s imagine an opportunity presents it self to me once and I find myself at OT, will it be a crime to take pictures?? Why would any United fan begrudge me for taking Pictures at a place I may not visit again for my entire life?

Let’s be fair for God sake!!!!

  48. ajie says:

guys, that`s true about the `Man U` name… peoples outside UK & Malaysia especially (I’m Malaysian) did not aware about this `sensitivity`. Not to blame them, press here are using that name…I’m so ashamed that press are not understand & be respect abut this. But some people (group of fan) here aware about that but most of them not… that`s the truth..
