PICTURE: Another Award For Berba

Back in December the Premier League presented Dimitar Berbatov with an award to recognise him being the first striker to 10 goals.

Three months later, Berbatov has been given an award for being the first striker in the league to 20 goals.

Within those 20 goals, he’s scored three hat-tricks, joining only Alan Shearer and Ruud Van Nistlerooy in a list of just three players to manage that feat in one season.

Really weird looking hair isn’t it!

  6. Konjour says:

Way to go,Berb! Hope to see him rack up the 30th golden boot as well cuz i’m quite optimistic he’s gonna increase his tally before the season is over. Here’s to hoping the headless chicken sitting on a time bomb in the wastelands is gonna break his two legs and spend the rest of the year on a surgeon’s table. ;)

  7. CedarsDevil says:

We love you Berba…… On the bench or on the field you are a United player and I am sure you take pride in that….

Best first touch of any football player in the world

  8. berbatunday says:

Well done Dimitar! And thank you! Especially for your selfless understanding and acceptance of your role in Manchester United. We, the fans, will be very proud to see you wearing your League medal at the end of this season. Thank you.

  11. FletchTHEMAN says:

Good one Mitko! Bet Berbatov is the first to reach those numbers playing so few games. The man is a marvel. But then, SAF is a marvel as well. Who knows that the man management by Fergie is exactly why Berba is doing so well. Maybe WR10 should be sat a couple of games !)

    Team?
    VDS,
    Fabio, Smalling, Vidic, Evra,
    Nani, Carrick, Gibson, Giggs,
    WR10, Berbatov

  12. CedarsDevil says:

Your 3 goals against looserfool have already made you a United icon… Anyone doubting your ability can kiss my ass… You are a genius footballer and as smartalex said, the 19th medal would look great around your neck buddy

  13. Devil310 says:

    @smartalex

I’m pretty sure Berba will be very happy for your words ;)

  14. Costas says:

    Sell the flop. :)

  19. mattbw7 says:

Got the look of player that says fuck me 20 goals and still not 1st pick.

  20. willierednut says:

No Matt, he’s noticed It’s Rooney’s trophy from last year.

  21. Whiteside says:

I think the look just says ‘unfinished business’.

  22. CedarsDevil says:

For me the look says, fuck you all… 19 is ours

  23. StatesideAussie says:

For me, he looks like someone who isn’t all that excited about winning awards.

  24. CedarsDevil says:

    Harsh

  25. Kings says:

Well done Berba. Let’s hope you get another one for being the first to reach 30.

  26. willierednut says:

    Truth.

  27. smartalex says:

I think it comes as no surprise to any of us that Dimi isn’t excited, and neither should he be.
Personal accolades are just a distraction.

  28. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    8 games to get 10 more :)

  29. Costas says:

All he needs is a couple of home games GHTT. ;)

  30. keano99 says:

Could do with a couple from him tomorrow I have a bad feeling about tomorrow

  31. pmcelevey1 says:

Be nice to se him get an away goal tomorrow, would be greatly appreciated

  32. willierednut says:

    In tomorrows world, Berba scores.

  33. King Eric says:

Glorymanunited. Not being petty mate fergie hasn’t proved us wrong. At least not those that have loved dimitar from day one, of which I can honestly say I was one of those.

    Well done berba lad.

  34. denton davey says:

Very interesting article by Daniel Taylor in Guardian online comparing the “trials” of DimitarBerbatov and the “triumphs” of Javier Hernandez.

It seems that Dimmy just can’t convince all of the people all of the time.

  35. StatesideAussie says:

The Telegraph’s preview of tomorrow’s match is predicting Hernandez to start instead of Berba. Seems weird to me, given that on Wednesday he was in San Diego, which is 8 hours of jetlag and 11 hours of flying time (to London), plus he had about 1.5 games in the last week with Mexico. I know he’s young and all that, but we’ve a busy schedule coming up, seems crazy to run him tomorrow if he’s already tired.

  36. Raizzen says:

Berba’s acrobatic flip goal against West Ham was one of the thing I remembered – in between our shaky draws and defensive line, in our earlier season. At that time, the press were singing in arms that their premonition of an inevitable United downfall was certain. And even some sections of our fans saying Berba only scores against lesser opponents. Thus his acrobatic heroic wasn’t something worth a mention or 2.

But here we are now, sitting well, not so pretty on top of the league and Berba our top scorer. How wrong could they be. How fuckin wrong could they be. United just keeps messing people’s prediction that a lot of fortune tellers went out of business.

Now they would have to be more cautious about writing us off in the future. Because we keep coming back.

  37. willierednut says:

Yeah, we’re a football version of the boomerang.

  38. FletchTHEMAN says:

@Stateside Agree, Chicharito and Owen will probably be on the bench. WR10 and Berbatove to start.
    We will see.

  39. smartalex says:

StatesideAussie, G’day! I love saying g’day to an Aussie, I say it with an accent in my mind!

Not knowing how we are to solve the RB crises tomorrow makes it difficult to predict the team, but I am clear that Berbatov starts. As co-incidentally mentioned by Costas earlier, his height will be needed at set pieces.

  40. King Eric says:

Denton. Hello mate. You included I suppose! Daniel taylor is a tosser mate who looks aboyt twelve years old.

  41. King Eric says:

Raizzen. Good post fella. Yeah amongst the early season memories is also berbas fantastic strike at goodison. God that game winds me up. We should have cruised that one.

  42. StatesideAussie says:

smartalex … yes, but which accent, that’s the question! Try this, then:

Strewth, that Berbatov fella’s a fair dinkum Bobby Dazzler, eh? Total class, stands out like balls on a tall dog. That Daniel Taylor bastard though, he’s up himself at a thousand miles an hour. What a fucking dickhead. Can’t see for nuts. the dumb prick. Needs to get a manager and stop handling himself. That fucking article he wrote’s not worth a cunt full of cold water!

  43. smartalex says:

I’m laughing in an Australian accent, not sure which one!

  44. Diablo says:

Well done to the Lad,now lets see him finish off the Rents and West Hem, the struggle to be No1 striker at UTD is healthy and the Pea and Dimi are doin fine, let our so called rivals worry about US!

  45. willierednut says:

StatesideAussie – I’m laughing in my strong Northern Irish accent.

  46. manutdisadream says:

berba you are magic. keep ut the work. when it comes to vision, control and the ability to keep the ball noone comes close to you!

  47. Wednesdayx says:

you kinda look a bit hungover, no? j/k! good for you berba, you’ve been awesome this season and don’t be too hard on yourself when you miss a shot on goal. I see that face you make all the time and I don’t like it! :(

  48. willierednut says:

Why so sad? Try this. :D

  49. StatesideAussie says:

smartalex and willie … cheers mates!

  50. Anderson/kleberson says:

Ha he looks like Gary nevile

  51. YorYor says:

    @Raizzen
Not just ABUs’ predictions wrong, the most annoying thing to me are our own United fans slagging off our own players!

  52. KingOfStretfordEnd says:

Brilliant fella in all sense. Anyone who says otherwise is an idiot.

  53. Dimitar Berbatov is King says:

3 more hat tricks, Berba! You can do it!

  54. FULLARD says:

    StatesideAussie

Where you from mate? I’m in Perth, its hard to find true United fans that have a clue what they’re talking about in this isolated city.

  55. KING ERIC BG says:

    Hello, people!
Actually I agree with many of the things Taylor said in the Guardian article, but not with the general tone implying that Berbatov’s future is kinda gloomy. He definitely lost a little ground recently, but Fergie knows what he’s doing and won’t dash his own efforts to bring Berbatov into the team amalgam. And also – Chico and Rooney themselves are not immuned from turnarounds in their careers.

At the end of the day, its Ferguson who outguessed everybody – when people stared at Rooney, Berbatov stepped up and pushed us forward, then Hernanez did the same replacing Berba from the spotlight. Not a big deal, its the result that matters!

  56. wayne says:

pretty ironic bereba winning all these awards can’t get a regular start and utd supposedly have a week squad this year

  57. KING ERIC BG says:

yeah, wayne, of course our squad is weak, how it could be the other way since we have spent less than 100 mil???
    :)

  58. lnare says:

only berba can do it,,,,,giv it up to him…………
