Well, that doesn’t do a lot to lift the spirits, that’s for sure. In fact it looks awful, a sign perhaps of an institution losing a sense of its own heritage and history. The finest United shirt ever was the Busby Babes V-neck, and all re-thinks should start with that, with a sideways glance at the 1909 FA Cup FInal shirt for the alternative strip.
It’s a bit like tartan. Maybe it’s a nod to Fergie’s 25 year anniversary at the club?

Doesn’t really matter to me what the shirt looks like. I’ve reached an age and a weight where I look ridiculous in any football shirt. Unless you have the physique of an athlete you shouldn’t really wear a football top beyond the age of 30. I realised when I saw Mike Ashley sporting a Newcastle top it was time to give it up as a bad job. No offence is intended to those who wear them beyond 30 or beyond 14 stone. that is your choice whether it is the right choice or not only your true friends will tell you.

Neil Warnock is our current manager – he has an excellent record with promotion so if not next season I’m expecting us to go up the season after.
I’m not denying your youth setup, but my point was that you’re as bad as Chelsea and City for splashing the cash. Maybe you haven’t spent as much as they have on players (although Liverpool hold the record for higest transfer free with Carroll – money well spent…!) but you can’t make out that you’ve not thrown your weight around in the transfer market in the past, and that all your players are cheap or of products of the academy. Your purchase of Ferdinand was for a record fee, for example.

As for reinventing the team – yeah, with players like Jones, Rafael and Cleverley you’re sure to dominate English football for years to come. LOL! City will obviously be better and I can see Arsenal and Chelsea (the two teams your fans seem to hate just because they’ve dared to compete with you for the title) coming back stronger. I think you will find your answers – Risdale destroyed you with 1/8 of our debt – we are still standing to the shock of many.
As for transfers – Always been the same situation even when the club was a PLC – the honest truth is that SAF does what he wants – however to be fair – bringing the debt down has had it’s problems in transfers – As for Sneijder, Inter never allowed Sneijder to leave – they would now though wouldn’t they because he’s been injured for most of the year – don’t want him now.
I have never denied spending on players to win – and neither can you when you were doing it – my point is two fold – we spend to justify it on a long term basis – Leeds were trying to do it quickly and failed. City have spent 500 million to win a premiership. They are spending to justify a short term fix. They have only a limited time to pull this off – after that the UEFA/FIFA regulations come in. Then we will see what city can do, won’t we? United have never spent stupid money to win the years premiership – you cannot deny this.

MG – We did try to buy success ourselves and like you say, it failed. But our highest ever Premier League finish – 3rd in 1999/2000 – was from players from our excellent youth setup. The likes of Kewell, Harte, Smith, etc weren’t bought. The spending came after that, when we were trying to stay in the Champions League.
Regarding your comment about being exceptional barring the two losses to Barca (which there’s no shame in, in fairness) – how do you explain being knocked out of Europe twice in one season, on both occasions by teams who are hardly known to be giants?
