PICTURE: Blind with United shirt after joining “biggest club in the world”

Despite the agreement being made last week, this evening the transfer of Daley Blind from Ajax to Manchester United was confirmed.

“It is a real honour to sign for Manchester United,” he said. “I have been at Ajax since I was seven years old and I will always have very fond memories of the club and of my time there. Louis van Gaal is a tremendously talented coach, I have worked with him at Ajax and also for the Netherlands national team and I cannot wait to work with him at the biggest club in the world.”

Louis van Gaal is in Holland with the player this evening at the Player of the Year awards. Blind was named the best player in Holland last season. Whilst also being able to play at left-back, he played in central midfield for Ajax last season, and completed 1777 passes. No midfielder in the Eredivisie completed more.

“I am delighted Daley has signed for the club,” Van Gaal said. “He is a very intelligent and versatile footballer that can play in many positions. Daley is a great reader of the game, he has played under my philosophy over a number of years and he will be a great addition to the team.”

  1. King Rooney says:

This guy will be absolute class for us. As long as Cleverley fucks off and Welbeck goes down south this will be some day.

  2. RedOne says:

Welcome Daley to, like you have already stated, the biggest club in the world. Wish you all the best…

  3. samuel - united WE stand says:

Elegant Footballer.. intelligent, tactically and defensively aware, great passing qualities and all round technical qualities. He will play in central midfield for me.. Hopefully will adapt and improve.

Finally. We now have a genuine midfield defensive player (a fit one anyway). But with the warm fuzzy feeling everyone’s getting with Falcao coming over i still feel we need another body in midfield.
Its clear we needed a striker like Falcao. I’ve been on Rooney’s case for ages. He just doesn’t worry defenders. He’s committed but hasn’t been difficult to play against for a while now, add to that the rumored operation for RVP. Look up and down, teams have got strikers that terrorize opponents/defenders, get under their skin. It seems to be the new craze.
Also its going to be interesting to see how Danny and Tom get on, what a damning indictment it would be if we see Clevs flourishing at Goodison, he’s worked with Martinez before and you never know. Simple fact is, if they both do extremely well wherever the end up, they will be brought back.

  5. Gary Mitrovic says:

Slim, correct about Rooney. She he burst into the scene he terrorised defenders. He’s completely lost that fear factor and for some time now.

Welbeck would well prove a few people wrong with his potential move to Arsenal, but I seriously doubt Cleverley will, he’s a poor footballer altogether.

  6. RedOne says:

As mentioned in the other thread I`d like to see this formation tested

    ——–De Gea

    Januzaj–Mata–Rooney–Di Maria

    ——–De Gea

    Januzaj–Herrera–Rooney–Di Maria

RVP is out anyway for several months so fingers crossed LVG has same thing coming to his mind…

Can`t wait the incoming weeks, months…

Next year we just have to add Hummels and Strootman or Vidal and we re the ones who everyone should be scared of!!! :)

  7. Tommy says:

Good signing, he does the simple things well, gets it and gives it, theiors nothing spectacular about him, but thats not a bad thing, hes exactly what we need, him and herrera and carrick will form a good trip in the middle of the park in my opinion
