PICTURE: City Striker Dons Arsenal Shirt For Interview

Manchester City's Adebayor wearing an Arsenal t-shirt

Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor appeared on Sky Sports News tonight wearing an Arsenal branded t-shirt, leaving City fans less than impressed. D’oh.

Arsenal are clearly a popular club amongst other teams’ players, with Chelsea’s Michael Essien caught wearing the Gunners’ shirt two years ago.

And even David Beckham has worn Arsenal gear, when joining the rivals of his former club for training two years ago.

In 2005, Carlos Tevez upset a few people in Brazil when attending a press conference wearing a Manchester United shirt, despite the fact he played for Corinthians and was fined £15k by the club.

Wow… that guy has some serious issues.

  2. fcum-passion says:

This is the same guy that ran the length of the pitch to laugh in the arsenal fans face when he scored against them isnt it?
    Confused money grabbing TWAT…

  3. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

how stupid is Emmanuel Adebayor really
Imagine if Ronaldo did an interview in a united shirt the media would have a field day and th e madrid fans would cause murder

  4. wewillneverdie says:

I know its pretty stupid and i would be upset if a united player ever did similar but are Arsenal not widely supported in Togo and Possibly even the whole content?

I think i read that most of Togo support arsenal as Adebaywhore used to claim to and the press there were slatting him for selling arsenal out?

Maybe he was trying to show a bit of unity or something with his nation. Or maybe hes just a massive prick?

  5. Besher says:

Will the city shirt would look disgusting on national tv so i dont blame him . It might have been in togo the interview and he couldnt find any city one”s.

  6. King Eric says:

Funniest thing about it is this comment from a City fan :

“Maybe not the best of ideas but if he has got fond memories of Arsenal then maybe this his his way of being comforted in a time of great stress by wearing something familiar, a bit like a child has a favorite blanket/Teddy he/she hugs for reassurance”

    Fucking idiots.

  7. stretfordendole says:

even given his emotional state, that is a serious error.

Not really ‘on message’ with the great City project is it?

  8. bingo says:

    Ha Ha Ha

  9. Costas says:

Makes sense guys. Man City have saved all of their official stuff for Mancini to wear!

  12. Gudjohnsen says:

Hahahaha, King Eric’s comment is hilarious.

They truly are deluded over there, holy crap.

  13. Rob the Red says:

He probobly wore it to save his family any embarrasment.

  14. Rob the Red says:

Imagine the stick his dad would get at the local elephant wash!

  15. Ulster Red says:

fuck me just seen the interview, what was he thinking? there is great work going on at the we want glazer out facebook site, protests being talked about for milan game, also a fund trust to be set up hopefully so fans worldwide can do9nate to buy them cunts out..tall ask but no harm in trying

  16. Fze123 says:

Come on guys, people in Togo have never heard of Man City, He couldn’t possibly wear the unfamiliar blue colour. Maybe Carlos Tevez sleeps in his Man Utd shirt too. Someone who spent all summer complaining about Fergie and Utd must have been obsessed, and still is.

  17. amies says:

    @Rob the Red Said

    really bad taste mate.

As is this entire piece. Ever think we need to give the bloke some space at the minute?

  18. Jim says:

We shouldn’t bother ourselves with this shit. I couldn’t give a damn what clothes the guy wears.

  19. Rob the Red says:

    Amies: How so?

  20. jscizz says:

He might have been a bit shaken up from being shot at?

  21. trevor says:

    Fanhtastic…

Agabagohshite has went up in my books!!…

  22. 20legend99 says:

Wow. King Eric’s comment is fucking priceless, but the fact Adebyboohoo would do that just makes me laugh. He’s either

A: too ashamed to wear citeh colors on the tele

    or

    B: a fucking twat

I’d guess a combination of the two.

  23. ¡No Pasarán! (Altrincham, Greater Manchester) says:

It’s a tragedy what happened, but I’ve always thought Wankybayor was as thick as two short planks, but I guess that’s a requirement if you’ve any affiliation with the CITEH of Manchester MASSIVES

  24. Always Be Closing says:

Because it’s a racist comment, Rob. No need for that shite here.

  25. RED SAM says:

Am with ade for this, how can you possibly wear something similar with your national primary school uniform ??

  26. RED SAM says:

am glad arsenal have re-signed sol campbell.
I really could not stand the sight of him in united colours. Hope he plays our game though

  27. Kenyan-Canadian Reds says:

The Glazers have secured a further loan on their shareholding in the club, but what does the refinancing mean?

@Rob the Red Said “Imagine the stick his dad would get at the local elephant wash!

C’mon man, no need for that over here. Black players get enough shit when they play football which is a sport that knows no colour. England is the only place in the elite leagues that has made serious efforts at eradicating such shit. In other European countries, it is done blatantly with no recognition or respect i.e Italy, Spain. United players has a lot of black and has used african players in the past.Such comments do not belong here and are really in bad taste. Please focus on ability or non-discriminatory banter don’t make such careless comments. These guys suffer enough on the pitch, there is nothing worse than to be made to feel out of place especially when you are doing the thing you love the most.

  29. rooney the new king says:

HAHA that has made my day, is he that retarded he does not know he is wearing an arsenal shirt LOL

  30. Ashish says:

I think Adebayor realises that the city shirt looks shit that’s why he probably wore an Arsenal shirt.

  31. Red Devil says:

Good Lord….thats the most cheerful thing I have seen all week!!

    Hahahahahaha

  32. Dimitar Berbatov is King says:

As long as he feels happy with the shirt. I mean, it’s up to him whether he still wants to show love for arsenal no?

Or maybe he just wants to blatantly lie to the Togo public that he is still an arsenal player. That can happen.

Whatever it is, we should respect his decision to wear the shirt of a Gunner. I mean, it’s not as if he left the club in hatred or something. I guess we could ask Robin Van Persie’s view on this.

  33. Corea says:

    Not impressed really.

  34. bchilds says:

I was watching SSN last night & thought hmm I’m sure that top he’s wearing has an Arsenal crest on it! I was hoping for an explanation from the news reader but nothing came so I thought RoM would have a article on it!

  35. Jig3000 says:

Perhaps life has been brought into perspective by the fact he watched three of his international entourage shot-dead and, along with his team-mates, was under-fire for 30 minutes. I can’t imagine he gives a flying f**k what his t-shirt says, he just threw something on.

It may look like a bad move but I think it’s pretty understandable that he’s not thinking straight.

  36. Paul H says:

Need to give the guy a break. Clearly this is the result of post traumatic shock. Albeit very delayed – I mean, didn’t he sign for city back in August?!

  37. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

maybe he didnt run the lenght of the pitch to wind up the arsenal fans and get a riot started and result in an injured stewart. maybe he seen someone in an arsenal tee and taught i like that tshirt im gonna celebrate with that guy

  38. RED SAM says:

    @ rob the red

why do you have to make those stupid comments ?
Do you realise the pain behind a racial abuse ?
Don’t you even care for an apology ? You are a joke and i feel ashamed to be associated with guys like you. Those comments are unacceptable in todays world leave alone here at ROM.
I will never allow anyone to treat any african player that way even if he plays for my hated rivals, those guys are my brothers and its not their god given right to play for manchester united.

  39. Dec the red says:

i bet adebayor didnt run the length of the bus to celebrate in front of the gunners this time :P

  40. DarrenFletcherFootballGenius says:

I havnt laughed as much since I saw that Jermaine Beckford had handed in a transfer request!!!!

  41. UNITEDTILLIDIE says:

hahah, i can’t even think what would happen if he wore a United shirt xD
That would be hilarious :D haha sorry for writing (i’m from serbia)

  42. HARGREAVES' CURLY HAIR says:

    Rob the red
seriously mate what kind of banter is that? it’s not great reading comments like that here on ROM. people like adebayor are cunts but don’t deserve racist comments regardless for him playing for our rivals.
guys i think he still misses arsenal and he now knows he made a big mistake leaving arsenal. guys did you hear the glazers are open to sell the training ground? what a load of mess the glazers have put us into really!

  43. trevor says:

    Off topic!

Douglas Costa & Value in Transfer Market in January!

In the summer fergie was interested in Costa but the player had an injury at a bad time & also his club wanted too much money for him. THink 15 mil was quoted!

Fergie tried to have him on a short loan / trial to see him close which was refused!

Now that he has signed for Shakatakatakatak for 5.8 mil does that not sound value to you?

To mee 5.8 Mil for someone as talented as that is worth the gamble!.. After all we paid 17 mil for anderson & 17 mil for Nani and they both only had potential!……Am i missing something?

  44. anony says:

Genuinely im surprised at a lot of people here. The man was shot at, seen his friends in intensive care, saw people die and had his coach killed and some of you find it appropriate to just have another pop at city. He most likely doesnt even realize what he had on, i know i wouldnt. Have a bit of prespective and a bit of symphathy for gods sake. I expected more from some people on here. Especially since as united fans im sure most of you know what it feels like to lose people in football. A lot of people need to seriously grow up and have a bit of class.

  45. aig alex is god says:

    trevor

Yes. You are missing a lot. United were told to pay 20 million for Costa, something we are very familiar with given the amount of extra money demanded by clubs when United are intrested. they were asking 3 times the price for which they sold him. Gremio still have retained 20% stake in him.

Costa has said he will stay at Shakthar for just 1-2 years and considers it as a stepping stone to a move to a bigger club.

  46. King Eric says:

“These guys suffer enough on the pitch”. Come on. Get fucking real.

  47. phaka S A red says:

As a black South African and an African for that matter, i think that Shey Adaberyo is a total wanker, just think back bout that AC Milan/Beyonce bullshit from 07/08 season, just glad that he plays for Citeh coz the arsenal dont deserve him…

  48. theboogeyman says:

He lives in Manchester, so that means he packed his suitcase for Togo with this Arsenal shirt in it.

The fact that he’s upset has nothing to do with him packing the shirt.

  49. READ CAREFULLY WHAT I says:

He manages to avoid being hit by machine gunfire in a gun battle which lasted over 30minutes and then………………..

Promptly calls a press conference and shoots himself in the fucking foot.

  50. Bangladeshi Red says:

“Its City Isnt? Their a small club with a small mentality”- who can forget those famous lines? Im surprised there isn’t a banner abt it :P

  51. NotoriousRedDevil says:

I’m glad this got widely noticed, I thought I was seeing things when I saw it. LOL

  52. matt fox says:

clearly he hasnt got a clue where his team is at?

  53. redrick says:

@RCWAS- @13:55—- now that was funny!

  54. Fred says:

Some mong on that City link: “It’s an old interview from a few years ago”

  55. King Eric says:

Fred – Ha ha, silly fucking cunts. Take it the Toga bus has been hit previously then. That is more comical than the comment I posted yesterday further up the page.

  56. Kings says:

Just watching Sky Sports News now, he’s wearing a City Shirt now – twat! Probably got pulled for it.

  57. smokebreaksteve says:

    ‘Fuckin Retard’
Apparently City signed this prick to gain a foothold in the African commercial market as he was ‘African Player of the year’ and the African Nations cup was imminent.
Another stroke of commercial genius by City. Would love to have seen the owners faces when they got wind of this.

    ‘anony Said’

Hear what you say but this one was priceless. No-one is denying the gravity of what happened last week or mocking the loss of the the people who lost their lives.People are posting to take the piss out of this clown. If he is in a fit state to give a TV interview then he is in a fit state to put an appropriate shirt on. For Fuck’s sake we can all assume he did dress himself can’t we?

Do sympahise with him on the effects of the coach attack though. Our coach got bricked by Rebel Leeds Forces near Elland Road about 20 years ago. Shit meself!

  58. come off it mate says:

holy shit, give the man a fucking break. he and his team mates were recently machine gunned.

he did play for arsenal for a long time. he says he has a lot of friends there and it is just a fucking t-shirt.
    get a grip

  59. afromanc says:

yeah, I think its a bit shamefull to wear the shirt in public. Its like John terry wearing his United gear to an interview after his mum got caught thieving…

BUT give him a break, its hektik what has happend to himself and his team and he should be left alone…

  60. Chris says:

Never commented on this site before, but thought I should set the record straight:

Adebayor lost all of his luggage during the shooting and was relying on his brother’s clothes that day. Forget the argument about how much money he makes – you think buying new clothes for himself is the first thing on his mind at the moment when he’s just had a friend die in his arms? He called up City the next day genuinely concerned that he’d upset their supporters.
I’m glad to see that a few people here understand what he’s going through.

  61. King Eric says:

Chris – One word pal. Bollocks. So you are telling me that his brother only had ONE shirt on him?
