Bebe, who joined Manchester United in the summer for £7m, was comically described as looking like a competition winner during training sessions.
The 20-year old hasn’t featured for the first team since our FA Cup game against Crawley. He has made 7 appearances in all competitions, 2 of those in the league as subs.
Patrice Evra and Rio Ferdinand seemed to be enjoying the humour of having the lad in the dressing room for the post-match celebrations!

Man Utd News 24/7

LOL!
I’ve got hopes for him, funny as it may seem to some.
Give him 2 more years and he might just surprise us.
Seems like a top lad and he gets on well with the rest of the players. I think we’ll see some good things in the next couple of seasons. Also the guys a beast, wonder which player can bench more than him?
YorYor dude I second that. Wholeheartedly. Something tells me that there’s just something special abt the kid.
In Bebe’s Postion anyone would have done the same, No?
Its nice to see him celebrate with the lads looks like a Baby
He isnt terrible, he’s really fast, has a decent shot, can finish. Not The next Ronaldo but if we can turn him into a striker with good heading, shooting etc he may end up a decent squad player for us.
Lets Give him a few years Boys, He’s very young to write off 7 appearances in to his career
With Bebe while he was awful vs Crawley (he wasn’t the only one) he did fairly well in most of the other games he played. Especially when you consider his sudden rise from part time in the Second Division in Portugal to the English Premier league in just 12 months.
We have seen Luiz struggle with aspects of the English game having been a regular in the Portuguese first division so ofc it was going to see Bebe take time to be ready.
I would say as well that I think he has shown more than Obertan has and Obertan arrived from a higher level and was highly rated across Europe just a couple of seasons before we signed him
The funniest thing ever would be if next season, he just became our new talismanic figure with 40 goals, 20 assists etc.
Bebe may never turn out to be any good, but it is really sad to see that even now so few fans give him a chance. Sir Alex is the greatest manager of all time but like all managers he’s not infallible when it comes to transfers, but every player signed by United deserves to be given a chance. Bebe won’t be sold during the summer and I expect him to get a few more games next season, if he looks good and if he’s doing well in training, who knows he could turn out to be a handy player.
I think they should focus on molding him into a Drogba-type power forward. He’s got speed, strength and an absolute cannon for a right foot.
Dunno why everyone has a go about him, give him time for fuck sake!
i hope everyone has seen him shoot. if he can take it to the next level… bombastico.
Bebe 1-0 Gerrard, Carragher
Won’t hurt giving him 1 or 2 years. In terms of wages, I don’t think he’d on a high payroll unless he turns good. While he polishes the footballing aspect, he is also using this time to learn English and basically learning to live in a new country. For a child coming from that background, you don’t expect him to just walk in a United team and be a footballing hero.

I still have faith in this lad.Lad has a eye for a goal.Must be talented.Give him time who knows he may turn out to be something special.
Reminds me of David May.
Good morning everybody…
Can anyone please provide me with a link to the fulllength team celebration after the game yesterday?,even if it’s in parts.i’ll really appreciate..thanks in advance.
7 million is a lot for a janitor
Now that Bebe has experienced what is like to win the league, hopefully he’ll be more determine to prove his worth next season. Go bebe!!
with two goals in seven apperances is not bad for new comer..i believe bebe will come good..
at least Bebe’s scored 2 goals since moving. Torres has only got one.
Bebe should be given another season or two. He looks like a team player. Give Bebe a chance Sir Alex!
He scored more goals than Torres at Chelsea!
@manc_sam what are u smoking mate?? Bebe is a disgrace to the Red shirt worn by legends such as George best, Canona, Charlton, Giggs, law, Beckham, Scholes etc… enough said
@Keano
Bebe doesn’t have a medal. Didn’t get anywhere near the required 10 starts, did he?
I must say, I think something really dodgy’s happened here.
Bebe’s agent is Jorge Mendes, who also manages Ronaldo. Wouldn’t surprise me if we owed Mendes some add-on fees which were missed somewhere along the way, so a random deal for a complete nobody (all respect due to the lad) was concocted in order for Mendes to take the cut on that. £7.4m for someone Fergie’s never seen play? Do me a favour.
If that is the case, it’s very poor form all round and incredibly harsh on the player himself, who could see his career seriously affected, even ruined, by being used in such an appalling way.
It also means it’s beyond harsh to call him a disgrace to the shirt.
Yeah I remember reading somewhere where Rooney said Bebe is a joker in the training sessions. They love him haha!
give him a chance i’d say, he might surprise us immensely next season or the the following one (more likely).
He’s only 20 after all!
I don’t think so Kanchelskis. I think the fans have been way to hard on a lad who made his way from the streets to Manchester United in such a short period of time. I was surprised by Chicharito’s first season, I had high hopes, but he surpassed them. That doesn’t mean we can expect every player coming through the door to have the same impact!
The lads big, strong and fast. A few years of training with the team and I reckon we could have ourselves a player in the “Drogba” mould. The reception he has gotten by many of the fans has been beyond harsh, especially considering where he comes from. Let’s give him time. Time to play with the lads, learn from the coaching staff and in a few years time, he might just put a sock in the mouth of all the doubters!
Good to see the lads involving Bebe in the celebrations. I won’t be writing the lad off just yet.
Maxine? Go soak your heed in a tub.
Hahahaha he really looks like a competition winner. Love it. Evra’s too funny.
kanchelskis: I thought the very same when the deal went through, seemed to be a bit more to the story than they’d have us believe.
Having said that, I think the lad deserves a chance, he’s hardly going to tear-it-up in his first season after such a meteoric rise from obscurity. I think it was bad judgment on Ferguson’s part to have him in the first-team squad, may have been an easier transition for him to play behind the scenes for a season before being exposed to the media and fickle fans.
There were worrying signs when he played this season and I hope they were nothing more than nerves, his general awareness of the space around him looked quite poor, along with his ability to play with his head up. I’m certainly not going to write him off at this stage though, lets hope he enjoys a good pre-season and either goes on loan to get some game-time or impresses enough to push toward first team.
He was never going to do what Chicharito did. Patience is most definitely required, and he is at the right club to nurture the skill he has shown on several occasions for the first team and for the reserves.
Of his very few appearances, I seem to remember competent shifts against Wolves in the CC and Bursaspor in the CL.
It was that Crawley game that really worried me. Granted he wasn’t the only culprit that day, but there were times when he came across as, frankly, someone who wasn’t a professional footballer. There was the occassional cross that was actually laughable.
Of course I’m not writing him off. I’d love to see him do well. Let’s hope he settles over the summer, bonds with the lads, keeps his head down, has a good pre-season, and can play some positive part in 2011-12.
Give the lad a break, considering where he has come from, who would deny him celebrating
C’mon, this is just cruel and unnecessary from United supporters. While I have my doubts about him, he still deserves a chance. And even if it doesn’t work out, I don’t think any United player deserves abuse from fans unless they bring it upon themselves like Tevez or Heinze.
The thing with Bebe is that he was bought almost at the same time as Chicarito, and for an ever greater price.. The constrast is very noticeable, but it would be kind of unfair to judge as not all players adapt to the EPL as Chicho has..
haha
Haha my affection toward him has increased.
@Jig3000 – completely agree with your assessment. During his first few appearances it seemed like he just wanted to put his head down and run with the ball, which he probably could get away with in the 3rd division of Portugal simply because he was faster and stronger than everyone. He also hung out on the wing too much, not getting into space and setting up good passing angles for his teammates. With that being said, his performances in the Reserves (from what I’ve been able to see) have helped him develop greatly and he seems to understand the tactical aspect of the game much better already. I don’t think he’s ready to make the jump to first team football and I’m not even guaranteeing he’ll make the grade, but I think he has a shot at being a good player.
O yea, and if I was apart of the team and didn’t get to play in the game yesterday, I would have put on my uniform and rocked out with the rest of the guys just like he did! Love the hat he has on, too.
Lol Bebe’ seems quite the favorite, eh?
Wembley, Camp Nou, Luzhniki stadium…a look back at Man United’s European past, can Fergie’s men burry the ghost of Rome?
Guys here’s an article that looks back at our 3 European triumphs:
http://www.thehardtackle.com/index.php/man-uniteds-corner-spirit-of-united%e2%80%99s-european-past/
good on the lad lets see how he progresses if he doesnt make it with us hope it works out elsewhere
what a story homeless world cup to lifting a prem he deserves the moment as he aint had it fuckin easy through his life
lets see how it gos good luck to him
Bebe will be brought along in the right way. Just loved the fact that Bebe and both reserve keepers were all kitted out on the podium. Lindegarrd and Amos enjoyed the moment and supported the team and honored the fans in the right way. They were there to revel in what it means to be in this team and rightly so. Hargreaves should have done the same, at least Brown showed some class by being out there, albeit in running togs. United is a family and they do well by their own, well most times anyway.
Right then, we have a big game vs the Spanish ladies diving team. We need all our best character to win and the same from the fans. Comeon U REDS!
@max – fuck off.
Ta.
Leave off, Scott. He’s got just as much right to be there as any other young squad player. And I know I’m not the only one who thinks he has potential. Just give him a little patience.
LOL.
Watched the footage where Bebe was talking seriously to Rio in the dressing room. Does Bebe speak English!
@kanchelskis
While SAF hadn’t seen him play United had been keeping tabs on him. They seemed fine to let him join a top division club and see how he developed and then go after him but Real started to sniff around as well as others so it was simply a case of getting the deal done now.
It was this reason the fee was high, it was his buyout in his contract and a quick deal means paying the buyout fee or risk getting into a battle
