PICTURE: Dig Out Your Old Shirts

Manchester United’s home game against Liverpool was the first of hopefully more ‘Old Shirt Days’ for our fans. The aim is to raise the awareness to the idea of boycotting the new shirts brought out by the Glazers and instead wear shirts from days gone by.

We had lots of entries and it was great to see some of the old shrits people still have lying around. Here were some of our favourites:

We couldn’t resist that cute grin of Emily’s, so an old shirt will be in the post to her. But the winner is Ivan Teoh and mates from Melbourne, Australia, for the impressive array of old shirts, as well as a crying Liverpool fan. A shirt from the Treble winning season is on its way.

  2. portugueseprincess says:

Oh and Emily is too cute.xx

  3. loughie21 - TPL says:

Haha, brilliant. Love to see the fans getting behind the club. And I must say that red head in the 68 jersey is extremely attractive! What a handsome devil, haha

  4. Tomo1982 says:

Not trying to stir things up or cause a debate, but given most of my old shirts are a little on the tight side shall ew say, I looked at the Vintage Football Shirts site link provided by Scott.

F*ck me, up to £150 quid for an old shirt??

Given the reason for the protest is about the financial situation and the fact we are being screwed by a bunch of mercenaries, I don’t think lining some other money grabbing so and so’s pockets as they look to cash in on the situation is a much better alternative!

  5. Scott the Red says:

Tomo1982 – The rare shirts cost that amount of money, but the adult shirt prices on there starts at about £19. If you look on eBay for the prices of the rarer shirts, it’s comparable.

  6. red devil says:

i am a big fan of
    always loved you posts.

  7. Callum says:

Here’s a story which will amuse everybody.

I recently moved back home to Corby from London. An old mate of mine mentioned that they play 7-a-side every Sunday and that I should join in. I did so, and the both of us ended up wearing 2-3 season old United tops.

I did, and when we were in the pub afterwards, one of his mates, a city fan (funny how i’d never met one in Corby before) was whinging about the cold (we were sat outside so we could have a fag.)

Eventually my mate says “well, my shirt from football’s in the bag if you want to put that on over the top of yours.”

And he accepted! Without even thinking about it! A supposed city fan, who was happy to sit there, drinking his pint, in the old white away strip, with ‘BERBATOV 9′ on the back

  8. eric the king denis law says:

hope i grow up to be as big a fan like emily

  9. FletchTHEMAN says:

Top photo of emily, is that you GHTT? Love the sorry Liverpool lad. Nice touch!
    Well done everyone!

  10. FletchTHEMAN says:

@Callum, Bet most UNITED fans would rather freeze. Others couldn’t give a toss.
Thanks for that. Very funny. Quite appropriate for this thread as well! Cheers

  11. Callum says:

Mate, I wouldn’t shelter under a City umbrella if it rained piss

  12. man united says:

1999 chanmpions league winners jersy. class our what. i still have it. buy i franmed it and up in the wall in my bedroom.

  13. Bebeto says:

Wait until the “Mega Store” increases its old replica lines. Even better, watch people blissfully walk in and purchase them.

P.s. that ‘Berbatov 9′ shirt looks like this season’s replica.

  14. Achinnymous says:

WOO HOO!! Never thought I’d see my face on this site. I’m DARN PROUD to be here!! (im the tiny one in the 1999 jersey) UNITED TILL I DIE!!!!

The game was played on my birthday. Barbatov handed me the most awesome birthday present. This will DEFINITELY be a birthday to remember. I love RoM!

  15. Ulster Red says:

it is this years top but i have it aswell and proud to wear it
i do keep my old ones but clearly dont fit anymore!

  16. Ilamb22 says:

Are there any streams for the Carling Cup match?

  17. eric the king denis law says:

is GHHT here cause id love to know were did emily get a shirt that size

  18. Always Be Closing says:

No streams because its on tomorrow. It’s on Sky though thankfully, some of the reserves had a rest yesterday though, so should get a youthful run out.

  19. Bebeto says:

I’ve no doubt that you’re proud to wear it. That doesn’t explain why it’s present in an image that’s supposed to be depicting ‘Old Shirt Days’.

  20. Mickjk says:

Ahhh what photos. Well done the winners. Wish i still had my old shirts. Sadly the wouldn’t fit anyway. What’s everyone’s favourites though? The black sharp viewcam one was tasty but the shirt of shirts was the one with old trafford in it. What an amazing shirt. What was that 95/96? We’ve had some crackers. Some shit ones too though.

  21. MG says:

GHTT is being missed here big time I keep on telling him but he thinks I’m telling him pork pies or something : )

A lesson to us all – we should try to get along here – at times we are rightly passioned for the cause but we all should remember that win lose or draw

Manchester United is for life not for when it suits us.

  22. MG says:

I do also wish King Eric comes back : )

  23. FletchTHEMAN says:

@MG King Eric was sighted ! He is posting to the previous topic “Fowler Full Of Praise For Man Who Destroyed Liverpool” Check it out and welcome him warmly!

  24. MG says:

World order is beginning to restore itself again : )

  25. eric the king denis law says:

why is gotta hate tiny tears gone and why did king eric leave . whats the reason for it

  26. FletchTHEMAN says:

@ETKDL I think King Eric just needed to go walk about. Probably would help us all occasionally.

As for GHTT, Good passionate lad. Think someone was yankin his chain and it got outta hand. Don’t rightly know what finally pulled it for him. Hope he comes back.

To many topics floating about which go way beyond footballing matters. Some real tormenting crap has been said, and that is a fact. People need to be civil and understand that United fans represent a very beautiful diversity of opinions.

  29. FletchTHEMAN says:

Willierednut. I am fine with that. Much rather meet any Arse team than Totty. Let them beat each other up as well! Lord knows it has been done to us before!

  30. Ulster Red says:

    man united
you cannot be serious…that shit is funny

  31. willierednut says:

FletchTHEMAN – It’s getting beyond a joke now mate, a jurno called Danny Fullbrook was on talksport last night, waxing lyrical about Arsenal and Chelsea. He said Scholesy early season form was nothing special, all he’s done is a few passes and then went on to praise Lampard, and this guy i actually a West Ham fan!

  32. Ulster Red says:

    Danny Fullofshite mate
he writes for the daily star still?

  33. xol says:

I had my beloved Adidas 1981 with the white collar and 3 stripes on the arms stolen in Spain in ’82. If anyone finds it, please let me know, I loved that shirt.

  34. willierednut says:

Ulster Red – Yeah mate, that’s him, he’s a fucking dickhead.

  35. RedGem says:

    @Callum at 18:48..hahahaha.

  36. King Eric says:

  37. Lovely.United says:

  38. Buliwyf says:

You sure this is Melbourne, Australia?

  39. Scott the Red says:

Buliwyf – Yes, why wouldn’t it be?
