PICTURE: Rio Reacts To Berbatov Miss

rio

Five minutes before United opened the scoring today, Dimitar Berbatov missed an absolute sitter. Gary Neville burst in to the box and played in a perfect ball to the Bulgarian, with half the ground on their feet in celebration, only for Berb to fire wide. It was an absolutely dreadful miss.

rio

Fortunately for Berbatov, he made amends in the second half when creating and scoring a chance for himself, which was far more difficult the opportunity he messed up.

In regards to Rio, I think it’s great to see we have players in the team who react likes fans, even when they’re not even in the match day squad.

That was Berba’s ‘ My missus would have scored that moment’ in the words of Harry Redknapp. Took his goal well though.

Oh Rio. Sometimes you’re a twat, sometimes you do things like this to make me love you again. And look at Sir Ryan’s face, that’s classic as well.

It was a terrible miss, but didn’t he take his goal well. The man’s got the magic touch.

  4. Fze123 says:

From the look on Rio’s face you would have thought he missed that sitter, not Berbatov. Even Berb didn’t look this gutted lol. Can’t wait to have him bacl in the team.

  5. Costas says:

    I miss Sheasy! :(

  6. DJ says:

Such a bad bad miss the comentator also said perfectly”what a horrible miss”
but forget his goal, the way he setup valencias almost goal was the touch of the season.. The guy can’t shoot from 3 yards but can produce a touch so perfect that even a 3 cm difference the defender could block it berba is brilliant he brings an extra dimension to the team

  7. The Edge says:

Ridiculous miss. If it wasn’t Berbatov who missed the reaction wouldve been much bigger. Fact.

    Rio should be captain.

  8. vivek says:

did any 1 watch the volley chip that he gave to valencia past 2 defenders ….and the Goal….he was awesome in some parts and awefull in others…..

  9. sprite says:

    vivek
    awful?
The only mistake he did all night was that miss.. cant remember anything else.. apart from one misunderstanding with rooney and one time he failed to take a tunnel on A. V. Borre..

  10. Obdk says:

Berbatov is a great player i’m sure he ll click and be a very big asset to man united

  11. kamal says:

love the passion of rio,he certainly hv a living life, even giggs reaction is classic look like he copy it from fergie

  12. Chep says:

that`s right, Scott. someone already mentioned the winning mentality in the club. it`s fantastic

  13. JackenDasGrock says:

    bad story

  14. Arnoldsleftpeg says:

Berba is top class his passing is sublime, his vision and thinking are way faster than most other players. He needs to improve his scoring ,but missing the sitter name any striker that hasn’t missed a sitter but the way he acted his goal sheer class purrrrrrfect.

  15. John Ferry says:

Yes, but how hard did he work to get the other goal. Nice, the boy is hungry to score.

  16. spencer says:

    RE: John Ferry

he only woke up when he saw owen warming up. typical berbatov. goes missing when its 0-0. turns up when the team has it won

  17. Costas says:

    @spencer

That’s a bit hash. He has broken the deadlock on quite a few occasions.

  18. Zainab MUFC says:

Its quite Ironic, the easiest chance of the match he misses.
The Hardest opportunity of the match, he nails it.
This lad is serious class, I was like his chance for a goal was missed, when he had a second touch and was surrounded by 2 defenders .. but then heyy he scores. BEAUTIFULL GOALL <3

Hehe. Even Rio would have buried that one I’m afraid. ;-)

    Off topic but…

Once again Vidic mysteriously absent after being touted for a return. Everyone with a brain knows he’s off in the summer but I’m seriously starting to wonder if he’ll play for us again this season.

Ronaldo might have been dreaming of Madrid for the last few years but he ALWAYS gave 100% for United. Can you imagine if he had kept pulling out of games with mysterious injuries last season? A lot of our fans would have been baying for his blood. But not good old Nemanja, eh?

I noticed when the players arrived at OT for the second leg against Ciddy that Vidic was walking around with a face liked a smacked arse. Does anyone still believe he will be a United player next season?

  20. Always Be Closing says:

Don’t agree, Fred. It’s obvious something is up, but when was Ronaldo ever left out before he was sold? It’d make no sense for Vidic to be kept out on purpose, other than for recovery. If he goes, he goes. But he’ll want to keep fit regardless of where he is. Evans is getting great experience and De Laet will be taking on Jonny’s old role of up-and-comer. The future’s looking good.

  22. Costas says:

    @Fred

All I can say is that this situation is becoming extremely frustrating. You are one of the many peope in here that believe Vidic will leave in the summer. I may be naive here, but I still can’t understand why we have reached that point. His injuries or “injuries”, whatever you want to call them? Surely they are not as bad as the stuff Saha and Rio have dealt with. His desire to leave for a warmer country, which by the way he has never admitted in public? Surely he is not the first Manchester United player to have this sort of problem?

This problem with the nerve on his leg started on January 3rd and he was supposed to be back in 10 days. That’s 35 days ago now! Now we know that our medical team isn’t the best in the business, but it can’t be this bad. If this is a plot to leave in the summer, he is even more guilty than Ronaldo, because at least he was honest with us. And the club is guilty too for going along with this. Not to mention that some of the fees that have been rumored for his transfer to Italy are insulting. He is cheaper than Lescott!

Ronaldo was never kept out, that’s not my point. I’m not speculating that Vidic is being dropped, I’m specualting that he’s refusing to play. As for wanting to keep fit, isn’t it plausible that he is trying to avoid unnecessary injury that could jeopardise his World Cup and/or move to Spain? Not that I believe that. I think he is getting grief from his missus and his heart is not at United any more.

  24. grein says:

I think Berba can’t score goals unless they are amazing. :P

  25. Fred says:

Although now you mention it, maybe the decision not to jepoardise Vidic is coming from the Glazers… Just thinking about Crystal Palace’s administrators ordering Neil Warnock to remove Victor Moses from their squad to face Newcastle last month because they didn’t want to put their most saleable asset at risk. A conspiracy theory too far? Probably. ;-)

  26. Gudjohnsen says:

Love these moments. It’s nice to see from big name players like Rio. I remember Darren Fletcher saying he always reacted like a fan when he was not playing – shouting and cheering like the rest of the bunch.

  27. Marq says:

    Fred
IMO, you are thinking too much >.<

  28. Fred says:

Gudjohnsen, you should have been there when Rio, Sheasy and Phil Bardsley were in the United end at Anfield a few years ago (1-0 defeat in the FA Cup.) We started singing “Rio, Rio, give us a song” and he duly obliged, getting a “United” chant going. Class. Then it was “Sheasy, Sheasy, give us a song” but O’Shea could only manage a feeble “Red Army” attempt – everyone burst out laughing at him, including Rio who joined in a chorus of “what the fucking hell was that?” Piss funny! :-D

  29. aimanunited says:

well, i react exactly the same like rio, some of my mates too…
it is a real bad miss…I agree that apart from the sitter, berba has been good last night, his goal was class but of course it’s not wrong to expect a striker to score more, especially when the goal is only 3 yards away and this is not the 1st time he miss such chance… yes, he is a player that capable to make up his mistake but it always be better for him and the team if he can score more…

  30. harry says:

I see now that Berbatov does not like to score easy goals becasue all of the goals he has scored so far are totally “WOW” to people. He did it against Burnely, too. He missed an easy goal and scored a hard one.

  31. Ventrella says:

Im concerned that the Bulgarian only ever scores when games are put to rest.

  32. Corea says:

Marq – agree. leave Vida alone till you find out what the guy is actually about. give him some respect.

  33. Lexxy says:

Rio’s passion runs deep and also giggsy ,sheasy and roo. And berb, i dont know what 2 say, 2 me he’s been dissapointin

  34. Paul Parker says:

I forgot who said it but I disagree – if anybody OTHER then Berbatov missed that sitter it WOULDN’T have been such a big deal. Strikers miss sitters all the time, look at Rooney in the 2nd leg. And like all good Strikers, Rooney took the next opportunity, just like Berbatov did. If he fails to impress in the CL I’ll be more skeptical next year, but for now im not on Berbatovs back – like Evra was yesterday, lol.

  35. kel says:

I like to say he didn’t give much in attack. The number of times he fall down to ground is more on than the attempts on goal. I know there is a lot of fans who support him as i am at the start of this season. But i do think this season he is aweful than last season.

  36. Corea says:

kel – oh come on! you don’t like him, that’s it.
i will download the game and count the number of times he fell down! and will write it in my notebook!

    It’s not 100% offtopic, no ? ;)

if it is true Terry is a complacent self-loving human being. Disgusting.
Captaincy is an honour and should not be given to a careerist. It’s honour and not a title.

  38. Alpha_RS says:

Let’s not forget that Harry Redknapp made the same kind of statement as Scott when United played Spurs at White Hart Lane.
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/tottenham/6221757/Spurs-Harry-Redknapp-wants-sleeping-substitutes-to-evoke-spirit-of-Gary-Neville.html
Even the United players who weren’t subs were on their feet everytime a decision went against us. Brilliant stuff from our boys.

  39. weeeeldrinkadrinkadrink says:

I wish he would stop texting when watching from the stands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  40. TonyBee says:

He was texting Terry to see if he had some photos of the tart called the
Chelsea Cum Bucket (still laughing RCWIS) on his phone so he could show the rest of the England team who to stay away from….

  41. james21 says:

Berbatov is class what a great goal and the pass for the Valencia chance. The miss was just one of those things just like the Diouf miss later on. I think we all reacted the same as Rio when he missed.

  42. kel says:

    Corea

Yeah. Right now i dont like him. I said before the season that he has my support. If you dont believe you can go find. But now i dont like him as he doesnt add much to the attacking. Just like you dont like Nani doesn’t it? Lol

    kel –
“Just like you dont like Nani doesn’t it? Lol”

how do you know i don’t like him ? :) He’s had my support almost every time and i’ve said that his position is on the right countless times. He is not my favorite player of all time but he has something from Ronaldo – fearlessness, speed and skill and not many people from our squad possess some of the qualities he has. That’s why we must support him.
I can’t say “i don’t like” to any of our players. There are players i like the most, there are players whom are don’t like that much but every single player has my support because they play for my team.
We had many cases when players proved their worth even when we didn’t believe it will happen. We questioned Fergie in 2005 but look where we are now. So it is not a rocket science.

What i wanted to emphasise is that you don’t have to say so much in order to express you attitude towards one player or another. Berbatov has his weaknesses but he is a squad player and he has qualities we should and would exploit. He loves the club, wants to play for this club and he is a modest and honest guy. So leave him alone and try to concentrate on the possitive things ;) At least don’t try to count number of times he picked his nose in public.

And he’s the new England Captain! Lovin it!
