These players have committed to “Make It Count”, pledging to make 2012 the year in which they give everything in pursuit of perfection.
This campaign was launched via Twitter on New Year’s Eve and a wide range of athletes including Rio Ferdinand, Mark Cavendish and Mo Farah united behind the #makeitcount hashtag, stating their intentions for 2012 and challenging their followers to do likewise. Rio simply stated “‘More to Learn. Plenty to teach”.

I have a lot of rituals. I could take until tomorrow morning answering this question! My rituals start the night before. I always shave the night before, I do my homework and look at who we’re playing against and how their strikers play. As the day progresses I eat the same things every time – porridge and pasta. I try and maintain the same sleep patterns too. I try and sleep especially well for the two nights before the game. The way I put on my outfit… I always put on my right shinpad before the left, as well as the tape on my shinpad. I wrap the tape four times around my leg at the bottom and twice around my leg at the top. I put my right glove on before the left… and if anything happens out of order, I start again from scratch. I used to think having all these routines was a superstitious thing, but as I’ve grown older I feel like it’s more about getting in the right zone. If I walk onto the pitch after doing all those things correctly then I know I’m in the right place. It helps me focus. Focus is a big part of being a goalkeeper. The game is a state of mind for a goalkeeper. You can have a lot of physical attributes but if your mind isn’t right you’re not going to make it.

Costas. Cheers mate. Nike kit has been dross. Probably my one and only nike favorite was 2002-2004 but since then you can forget it for style. Still recall ruud in that shirt. What a sight! Much prefer any of the Umbros. 98-00 probably the best of those but also loved the 92-94 and 94-96. You might say it is the collars but it is more than that. Just great shirts. Always like the black as well. Back through the 60-80 I especially liked the Black sock years, shirts didn’t really do much changing then except the arms.
Favorite away is Black Umbro 98-00 and the Nike 2004 FA Cup Final which was Red with black panels.
