PICTURE: Sir Matt Busby’s Programme Notes vs Real Madrid 1968

On April 24th 1968, the season that marked the 10 year anniversary of the Munich Air Disaster, Manchester United faced Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the European Cup.

In the first leg, United won 1-0 thanks to a goal from George Best, and in the second leg drew 3-3, to book their place in the final at Wembley where they lifted the trophy.

    Sir Matt’s program notes– top,top class.
    Grew up listening to a 45 of the highlights of the Benfica game, words etched in my head for last 40 years, “Charlton, Best, Kidd and Charlton again.” Absolutely priceless footage of the Semi.
