Manchester United fans have been charged £71 to watch their team play FC Midtjylland this evening, while Southampton fans had to pay just £22 to see their team play the Danish side earlier this year.
The club’s director, Cliff Crown, who is also the director of Brentford, had the option to move the game away from from the 11,800-capacity MCH Arena and to a bigger stadium, but decided to play the game he described as their “cup final” in their own ground, and charge the few fans that could go a lot more.
