PICTURES: Alternative Tevez Posters

With Garry Cook in charge, it is certain comedy will remain at the heart of Manchester City, so it stands to reason he couldn’t let another derby day go by without thrusting the blues in to the limelight.

Ahead of September’s derby day, where Michael Owen scored an injury time winner in a game we won 4-3, with Carlos Tevez failing to score, a poster of the Argentinian was put up in town. Whilst Sir Alex Ferguson noted at the time this action showed the small club mentality of City, Tevez himself criticised the poster this week and claimed he wished it had never been put up.

Ahead of the League Cup semi-finals, Cook claimed it wasn’t a matter of if, but when City knocked United out of the competition to reach the final. Of course, even with three goals from the £47m man, United saw off City and on the 34th anniversary of the blues’ last trophy win, claimed the League Cup for ourselves.

Now City have commissioned another poster for Tevez, forking out a small fortune in order to get the man behind the Barack Obama ‘Hope’ design to work his magic on that ugly troll.

The ‘Pasion’ stickers will be handed out to City fans ahead of kick off at the weekend with the club website claiming: Whether he is ‘pinching’ goals from Nedum Onuoha, picking up fans’ awards or just giving opposition managers a headache, it is impossible to keep Carlos Tevez out of the news.

Or whether he is giving interviews in the national press days before derby day, despite strict orders to the contrary, claiming Rooney is better than anyone he has played with at City, the club were wrong to sack Mark Hughes, he doesn’t like Roberto Mancini’s training methods, and he didn’t like the ‘Welcome to Manchester’ posters. D’oh.

So, we thought we would have a go at a Shepard Fairey (not the misspelt “Shepherd” as seen on MCFC.co.uk) print and look for a better way of encapsulating what Tevez is all about.

    BREAKING NEWS ON IRISH NEWSTALK
    35million bid on the table for david villa
    valencia wnt 40 bt united wont up the offer to 40
    35 million and a chance to wear the number 7 shirt
    i can see man city or real coming in with the extra 5 but here hoping villa would do a Berba and take the lower offer, and comeon 35million is mental money, and come to united if that happens but as it stands United offer 35 million for villa

  3. Maci says:

    Now this is absolute class scott :-)

  4. Costas says:

    Poor man’s Rooney! Mankini said that along with Rooney and Messi he is one of the 3 best players in the world! See? Gary Cook’s sense of humor is wearing off on him.

    A good alternative could be: “I scored 3 times against United but it meant fuck all”.

  5. aig alex is god says:

    @ghtt

    i asked you on the previous thread.

    How reliable is the source that has the villa news????

  6. TSS says:

    Hi ROM, long time, no beatings…

    Not being funny here, but for a poster that supposedly doesn’t bother the fans or manager at all, it certainly seems to have remained a talking point for a long time! Furthermore, this must be the longest it’s ever taken a fanbase to think up a come back! Tut tut.

    Admit it, it was pretty funny!

  7. aig alex is god says:

    How about ‘ I am a Fatarse’. He does look overweight since he has joined shitty

  8. theboogeyman says:

    Let’s wait and see how the Villa thing goes along without getting too excited.

  9. willierednut says:

    Poor mans Rooney he he.

  10. Schmuck says:

    Check this out lads. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pasion
    ‘Pasion’ was a slave in the Greek history. He had something to do with bank too. Equal to this argentine twat. Just got to read this wikipedia info. PRICELESS !

  11. Sayyid says:

    How about “I’ve scored more goals than Berbatov…but fewer goals per minute on the pitch, so Berba is better, and so I was right to leave”

    Can we stop talking about other players and concentrate on our players

  12. stretfordender says:

    Good effort Scott, although I am concentrating on the 3 points, not the shitty side stories, can do that after. We saw last night that a derby game is the perfect tonic for a poor performance.
    This is a must win. We can keep our title hopes alive, and dent City’s bid for fourth!

  13. bchilds says:

    Yawn, this subject has been talked about too many times. Let’s just get to the game, beat Citeh and give our title challenge a shot in the arm.

  14. Costas says:

    Another one could be: “I hate Neville because I believe whatever they translate for me”.

    @stretfordender

    Exactly. Plus, if we do Spurs a favor on Saturday noon, they will fell obligated to pay us back later that day!

  15. Sayyid says:

    @Costas

    Spurs are incapable of two good performances in a row

    The FA will also ensure Chelsea will not concede any penalties, red cards and will be awarded any penalties that are 50:50

  16. aig alex is god says:

    @Costas

    Or alternatively if we fail to beat city and spurs do end up not losing to chelsea we will waste another excellent opportunity as we have done a few times this season. I am not optimistic about the city game but then i never am.

  17. stretfordender says:

    @ Costas,
    That’s it mate, ‘Arry was saying that in his post match interview yesterday, both us and spurs can motivate the others. If we don’t beat City – we have no right to complain if Chelsea do spurs.
    I think Spurs will take massive heart from that victory, they don’t let in many goals there and are bringing players like Palacios back, maybe Kranjier.
    In terms of us, we shouldn’t need to motivate them too much, get Wazza back in and let him lead from the front, we miss Anderson in games like this, or I do anyway, his energy would have been needed, they are talking about bringing Viera back in, I hope they do!! I need to see what O’shea is doing as I feel he has the experience to look after that prick Bellamy. I can’t wait!!

  18. aig alex is god says:

    Chelsea are getting away with so many things i wont be surprised if they are struggling and drogba is allowed to carry the ball and put it in the back of the net. Thats the only thing left for them i guess. Offside goals, breaking peoples legs, getting away with handballs, Players not being sent off. They have escaped it all

  19. Sayyid says:

    @aig alex is god

    spot on

    the FA believe their league would be devalued if we won it 4 years in a row, so have been desperate to ensure Utd do not win it

    ever since that freekick from Fletcher against Chelsea, all the decisions have gone for them and against us

  20. AlphaRS says:

    @GHTT
    £35 million for David Villa?
    I thought United had a policy of not spending that much on older players?

  21. Edge says:

    David Silva. 29. Overrated. Plays in a shite league

  22. willierednut says:

    Rooneys been shortlisted for PFA player of the year, he must be favourite.

  23. bchilds says:

    @AIG

    It will come back and bite them mate, have faith. They CANNOT continue to get every single bit of luck in the pot.

  24. Edge says:

    well said sayyid

  25. willierednut says:

    Edge – Slivas 24, i think Villa you mean.

  26. Edge says:

    i meant to write Villa lol.

    now Silva IS quality

  27. aig alex is god says:

    @bchilds

    In the future it will bite them like terrys slip in the CL Final but the number of decisions that are going for them and some of them so blatant you cant help but feel the refs and FA is biased.

    @Edge

    I dont want Silva but he is 24.
    Think you meant David Villa. he is 28 and a great striker. Anywhere round 20 million would be great but above that we should not play. He is a guranteed 30 goals a season striker

  28. aig alex is god says:

    *pay*

  29. Sayyid says:

    @aig alex is god

    Villa, Rooney, Berbatov, Owen, Macheda, Hernandez..we certainly wont be short up front

    but surely we need midfielders and not strikers…we’ve scored a record amount of goals this season

    our midfield has been too weak in the big games which has cost us (Chelsea (H), Everton (A), Villa (H))

  30. Scott the Red says:

    TSS – There were plenty of come backs at the time. Didn’t you see the “Welcome to the end of your career” and “Fuck off back to Stockport”?

    http://therepublikofmancunia.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/Tevez-End-of-your-career.jpg

    This poster only came out this week, so it’s taken a day or two for us to respond.

    I agreed at the time the poster would have been funny if a fan had organised something like that. Banter between the fans is good for a laugh. The point was the club did it and that is just embarrassing. So it’s not like we’re losing sleep over it, we just enjoy poking fun at the small club down the road :)

  31. Shak says:

    Lol! Great posters Scott!!

  32. Costas says:

    @stretfordender

    Yep. The truth is that if we don’t win at the Wastelands, the title is as good as gone. I won’t even bother to follow the Chelsea game.

    Our midfield will be the key I feel. Ando could have helped out, but this is the game that started his downward spiral in January. Fergie will probably go for 4-5-1, but I would like us to line up with 4-4-2 like we did last year at the Wastelands with Nani and Park on the wings.

  33. Costas says:

    @Sayyid

    I am afraid about the same. I don’t know if they are just making it up to Terry for stripping him of the captaincy or if they were just afraid, as you said, that another title win for us would make the league seem predictable.

  34. aig alex is god says:

    @Sayyid

    We do have backup mate, i am not denying that. However Berba hasnt quite got going and owen is injury prone. Dont want a repeat of what is happening now with rooney injured we cant score.Dont know much about hernandez, whether he will straight away get in the first team or play with the reserves for some games. The problem with VIlla is his price tag. 35 million for a 28 year old is ridiculous

    We definitely need a central midfielder or two. Who i dont know but we need strengthening in that area

  35. Schmuck says:

    Chelsea are desperate to keep our luck with them, that they had to put some red colour on their new home kit for next season. big pity to them. Check it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xrY-GeeNopw

  36. Hamoud says:

    The only thing remain now is to get the chance to play for uefa and next reason we need only few strikers and highly rated midfield.
    And i hop sir alex ferguson will do that.

  37. Schmuck says:

    Sorry, here’s the correct link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebcJciaTE88

  38. willierednut says:

    Schmuck – It’s a lot like the France top and whats with the red bit?

  39. King Eric says:

    Schmuck – Fucking red on a rentboys shirt. Why? Cunts.

  40. trevor says:

    As much as i dislike tevez i cant help but admit after Berbatovs poor Poor performances this season and failure to gel into our team Tevez would have been worth the 25 mil!…..

    At the time my preference was berbatov as i thought tevez and rooney had simular strengths and wouldnt form as good a partnership as rooney with someone differnt!

    All the great times had strike forces with differnt abilities!

    Yorke Cole – Yorke Silky Skills. Cole Quick and staying on the last defender!
    Berkamp Henry
    Drogba Anelka
    Sheringham Solskjar

    Blah Blah blah!

    tevez would have done a job for us this season…..At least we could have rested rooney a little and had someone capable playing who would play at an acceptable level!

    Although along with the tune of this threat! After all that has went on and they way he conducted himself after he left the club! A simple 4 letter word on his chest would suit…”CUNT”

  41. trevor says:

    With regards t the rentboys new shirt i dont really care!

    Although i wouldnt be supprised if this summer our Away kit colours are Green and gold as a responce by the glazers to the protests!

    For a neutral it would be a funny responce!!

  42. Linvoy says:

    Sky News have reported a cloud of dust has closed UK airports. Police have arrested the Manchester City FC trophy cabinet cleaners in connection with the incident.

  43. resty says:

    I love them all!!! :D

  44. willierednut says:

    We can knock the Sliva rumours on the head, he’s close to signing for Madrid.

  45. Chrispiano says:

    Read the link on Scotts blog.

    Tevez actually cost £47 million, making him the 5th most expensive player in the world, behind Zidane, Kaka, Ibrahimovic and Ronaldo. It could rise to £50 million and overtake Zidane if they qualify for the champions league.

  46. Fred says:

    Loved this part:

    “The ‘Pasion’ stickers will be handed out to City fans ahead of kick off at the weekend with the club website claiming: Whether he is ‘pinching’ goals from Nedum Onuoha, picking up fans’ awards or just giving opposition managers a headache, it is impossible to keep Carlos Tevez out of the news.

D’oh.”

    Very drole, Scott. :-D

  47. Tony Starks says:

    …aaaa… the summer transfer roumors…. at least for the first time in years there should not be too many roumurs of people leaving!

  48. Fabio says:

    I would have liked to see TW*T on the poster, but greed is funny.

  49. Fabio says:

    Dear me, that much for a whore..Bet he aint there till the end of his contract, pimp dadio will be skint by then and have to re-market his be-atch.

  50. Fred says:

    What’s the font, Scott?

  51. trevor says:

    @Chrispiano

    Tevez costing 47 million?? You for real?

    For some reason the papers are starting to include wages into signing players, previously this didnt get counted..

  52. Craig says:

    Ha Ha 40 mil for Villa…. brilliant !! I tought we we’re deluded

  53. Schmuck says:

    @ willierednut @ King Eric

    I think it has something to do with their badge ? Thats what i heard. Do they even have red colour on their cunt badge ? i dont even fucking care. not so blue now are they ? fucking rentboyz

  54. Fabio says:

    Red neck rent boys init.

  55. Fabio says:

    Chelski are also supplying the new eastenders theme it goes:

    BUM BUM BUM BUM BUM BUMMMMM BUM,
    BUM BUM BUM BUM BUMMMMM,
    BUM BUM BUM BUM,BUM BUM.

  56. Lung420 says:

    LOL @ TSS (the scratching shed)

    He obviously can’t read, he just looked at the pictures! :-D

    Tip: it’s a good idea to actually read the article before you open your trap and start giving it the biggun, League One boy. ;-)

  58. Fred says:

    My take on Tevez’s “pasion” – http://i44.tinypic.com/21ce5ut.jpg

  59. middyred says:

    Scotthe red. Even though i appreciate the need to have a bit of banter with the bitters, i still feel that this hang up with Tevez has gone too far! Let it go FFS. He left us to join another club cos we couldnt afford him. City could. end of story. The fadt that SAF SHOULD have at least offered to buy him or extend his loan agreement is another matter, thereby not putting us in this ‘fight for second place’ position. Now we are left with an injured Wazza with no reliable pairing in the mold of Tevez to back him up against THEM. We are going to get snotted, i can feel it. We seem to be a team of crocks pitted against a goal machine.Gloom.
    PS
    Dont let yourself get wound up by a simple poster!

  60. Fred says:

    You tell Scott to “let it go” then launch into a rant on the subject, rehashing the same boring old arguments. Bit of a hypocrite perhaps?

  61. Erik the Blue says:

    Your blog popped up on Newsnow so thought I would check and see what is spilling from your Red blog. Some actually pretty good humor on a couple but I think you might consider these:
    “At least he is healthy.”
    “Would you spend 25 for me or 32 for Berbaflop” discounting City’s current 32 million pound jackass currently playing with Santos against the Brazilian Blind School of course…..

    Honestly guys, if you would have just signed him to a contract early so as to not leave him wondering if you wanted him, you would have had him for years AND you would now be clear of Chelski at the top of the Prem…. Don’t be bitter at El Apache… I honsest think he wanted to stay but Fergie treated him like he was your 5th choice striker, which we all know he is not. Second choice for sure, because your former boxer, when healthy, is the best in the game but Tevez is a close second….

  62. Tom F says:

    GHTT: “BREAKING NEWS ON IRISH NEWSTALK”

    Mate – That says all you need to know about anything related to that ‘bid’.

  63. Paul Parker says:

    Call me a kill joy –
    But isn’t this as petty as THEM starting this whole poster thing in the first place?

    Besides, when he was still a UNITED PLAYER i do remember him being called a Poor Mans Rooney by the ABU Media, sad to see United repeat it now. Eitherway, its still Bollocks. Poor Mans Rooney? Three Goals against us in as many games? Drogba can’t even do that. Leading Goal scorer for his club? Taking City into Europe for the first time in fuck knows how long in his DEBUT Season? The man is right behind Rooney for player of the Season IN MY UNBIASED OPINION.

    And considering Berbatov belongs to us I think we need to shut the fuck up and eat some Humble Pie, we are in no position to laugh at anybodys Striker, Jesus.

    Finally, United just looks bitter by focusing on Tevez, I remember when he said “they (United) can’t stop talking about me” I wondered what the fuck he’d been smoking at the time, because I didn’t give a fuck about him, but he’s actually spot on, its been Tevez week on ROM all bloody week.

    I think we need to concentrate more on NOT DROPPING POINTS and less on Carlito.

  64. Scott the Red says:

    Paul Parker – As has been said in pretty much any post about this topic, you expect fan banter. Fans like to take the piss out of each other, each other’s players, and each other’s clubs.

    The point is, this isn’t fan vs fan, this is fan vs club. City keep kicking up the whole fuss over Tevez so as fans, we are responding.

    Our players need to concentrate on not dropping points against City, course, but should all the fans sit here and hope our “positive thinking” gets us a win?

    Do you live in Manchester? It’s the week before the derby. Have you not been getting texts/emails back and forth between your blue mates? Isn’t one of the best bits about football the banter and piss taking? Getting stuck in with other fans and taking the piss out of each other?

    You are a kill joy.

  65. RedDeviled Egg says:

    Remember when we used to celebrate our own players here rather than launching pissing matches over who hates other teams players more?
    I get sick of hearing about Tevez on this site. He’s doing fantastically well for himself this year. If he wasn’t, Scott wouldn’t keep writing about him.

    GET OVER IT!!!

  66. brett1985 says:

    I will remember Tevez as a fine player who made good contributions to us in a very successful period. I think with United fans mistakenly chanting over Fergies speech they set themselves up for a fall although Tevez/City were culpable in some relatively nasty exchanges. Whilst he wasn’t worth 25m to us and certainly not 47 iirc it was unknown that Ronaldo was going to be leaving. We’ve missed those two this season and paid the price in the silverware department.

    Still Tevez gave his all for united and what is said off the pitch is less important than what happened on it.

  67. james21 says:

    @PaulParker
    Fair point there but its just a bit of fun thats all. God we’ve had to listen to enough shit over the season from the bitters. I was actually fairly sad and pissed off when Teves wasn’t signed but when he signed for City I lost all my respect for Him. If It had been the other way round City fans would be the same.
    @Eric the blue
    ‘Berbaflop’ I still can’t see where people are coming from. Personally think he’s done well here. Never mind thats another subject. Like the Robhino ‘Jackass’ statement. Classic.

  68. ax1d says:

    this is awesome!
    I’m gonna put no. 3 on a t-shirt.
    it’s gonna be perfect.
    massive respect.

  69. valrouge says:

    Oh jesus this is bad, moan, moan, whinge whinge is evrywhere. Many Reds are openly saying “we’re dreading this game”. Now it’s conspiracy theories – “the FA don’t want us to win the League” plus puerile posters to play tit-for-tat with the Bitters.
    Lads GET A GRIP!!!!!! We are the reigning Champions ffs, the most consistent club in England and probably in Europe (haven’t done the stats) over the last dozen years. If this season is going to end on a downer, which it probably will, let’s at least keep our dignity intact.
    Yes the Glazers are bent twats and I personally have misgvings anyway about the whole Red Knight thing. Many of these guys could just be rich guys on the make and not proper supporters. But the spirit of Manchester United lives, the club and its history are bigger than all these people and the massed ranks of Cockneys and Bitters combined.
    Let’s hope Roo’s fully fit so we can put the uppity bitters back in their box and get on with chasing Chelsea.

  70. cav says:

    how about we stop obsessing over him?

  71. redscot says:

    Mac glossop, who is a Scum bag? thats real hard talk from behind the safety of your computer screen, Mr internet hard man. You seriously need to increase your doseage of your medication,and maybe go and play with your little friends on Blue moon.

  72. james21 says:

    Ha Ha Redscot
    I was trying to ignore him. Typical Bitter tho he’ll be one of those pelting Utd fans with missiles all through the game. Then again Probably never been to Wastelands. Total Vermin!

  73. redscot says:

    @ James here here mate as regards missiles, I just dont like being called a scumbag, if he had called us a scrotum bag I can accept that at least its got some humour attatched to it. lol.Vermin are alive James I just see them as dead from the ankles up.
    Its probably correct to ignore it like you did, but there crawling all over the Blog tonight.
    Jesus I plead for the sake of sanity we get a Win on Saturday or the Blog on Saturday evening is gonna be hootching with them.

  74. Mr Bluesky says:

    How sad… Only highlights how Jealous Utd have become of City’s new found wealth. City are only just short of being on a par with Utd, 2 years from now Utd will be history and these pathetic childish retaliations only highlight how concerned you are about your noisey neighbours.

  75. Mr Bluesky says:

    Man City are in the business of trying to sign footballs best talent, i consider Carlos Tevez in that category (utd couldn’t afford him). All debt ridden utd have to try and entice young talented players is their history. History is yesterday… The future is tomorrow…. and that is why the writing is on the wall where City are going and Utd aren’t for the next 20 years or so.

  76. Fred says:

    “these pathetic childish retaliations”

    The original poster campaign started by your club showed great maturity and humility, did it?

    “City are in the business of trying to sign footballs best talent”

    Trying and failing most of the time :-D

    “i consider Carlos Tevez in that category (utd couldn’t afford him).”

    TBF most clubs would balk at paying £47m for the little troll :-D

    “All debt ridden utd have to try and entice young talented players is their history.”

    Whereas City have no history and your signings are enticed purely by money. I know which sort of characters I’d rather have at my club. :-D

  77. james21 says:

    @ Mr blue sky
    What are you on? Gary Comical Cook started this Poster thing. It just goes to show with your reaction that You know Teves for what he is. As I said in earlier blogs Teves is a good player thats why I wanted him to stay. The fact he refused Liverpool because in his words ‘In respect to Mancester Utd Fans’ Then Joins City that says it all. Put the boot on the other foot mate, you’d be exactly the same if not worse.
    You really do want to worry because we all know that Masour only bought your underpreforming club in a deal that will see him pay for and develop the land around Wastelands. That Super Casino that everybody thought was dead well don’t believe it.
    Its when he’s got what he wanted and decides to sell City that you want to be worried about and not weather Your rival fans are exercising a bit of TIT 4 TAT.
    Its a bit of banter thats all. So Chill.

  78. Erik the Blue says:

    It is all good fun. Some people though, on both sides of the color divide (Red vs Blue), are a bit overboard. I like a good roe as much as the next guy but let’s not take this too seriously. We all love our footie, and love our respective teams.. Love to poke fun at our adversaries when we can, but it is a game, and we should enjoy it for that. May the best team win on Saturday…. and may that team be wearing Blue! Come On City! PS. If I happen to run into any of you, Red or Blue at a pub, I will gladly tip a pint witha any of you. Cheers!

  79. redscot says:

    @Erik the Blue on the Button mate it to do with the football and a individuals passion, for our colours. Yer A cunt in Blue, Am a Bastard in Red.
    No not may the best team win, not correct………… United win you mob are being Russianized in a OILY way, we have History Pedigree and class.
    But agree its rivalary banter without violence. Mind now Eric no throwing of darts at the Wastelands eh.
    Believe just fucking cunting Believe it aint over Shitty 0 Reds 3

  80. james21 says:

    Thats what I like Redscot total confidence in our boys. C’mon Reds.
    I’ll be at the Spurs game next week so lets hope we’ve still got something to fight for. Its not over til its over. Watch out for the Wounded Animal Berties.

  81. redscot says:

    @ James 21, mate you wont get nothing else from me, exactly shout out for the boys, you are lucky getting to the Spuds game, i wont see anymore this year, Financial, poverty, Lild shopper.
    I always thought a Bertie was a Lickerass allsort, you get my drift James lol lets stuck into those mongrels/ berties, sugar ploom fairies/ pretenders
