This obviously came as a surprise, given that just 30,000 blues bothered to show up for their League Cup semi-final against Liverpool a few weeks ago, with tickets being sold for as little as a tenner on the day.

If it’s true, then I think the game is in jeopardy. Once again, I doubt Chelsea FC will be in any hurry to make sure the game takes place. A game at a later date means they’ll have Terry, Cole and Drogba available.
Its only 8:45 in the UK, a match has never been called off so early before kick off unless the conditions are extremely severe and having read a few weather reports they do not seem to be.

De Gea is set to return for Sunday’s Premier League trip to Chelsea, just eight days after his performance in the FA Cup defeat to Liverpool was heavily criticised. They will do so with a fresher looking squad, including Ashley Young, who has missed eight matches with a knee injury, and Tom Cleverley, who has featured only twice since the beginning of September due to foot and ankle problems. “There is no doubt freshness will help,” said Ferguson. “When Ashley got his injury at Fulham it was just at a point when his game was starting to shade a little bit. “His early form was fantastic and we were really pleased with him but there were just a couple of games when it looked as if we were ready to give him a break. “It turned out to be an enforced one but he is fresh now and his training performances the last two weeks have been really good.” It is a measure of the impact Cleverley made that Ferguson has so often lamented the youngster’s absence despite the fact he has only made five Premier League appearances for United. “Cleverley is an excellent young talent,” said the Reds boss, who did admit the 22-year-old is more likely to figure in Monday afternoon’s reserveiteam game with Chelsea. “He does our chances a lot of good because we have been carrying the burden with limited resources.

Yeah I remember but Still that was the last time where I remember this was the most used combination. Rio played many important games and rest of 3 ( vida evra and brown) were consistently playing top class football without missing many games.
In the last few seasons we hardly had fixed back 4. I know injuries have played a huge part but it has affected us too much.

I know people will question me on not picking rio but I feel Rio’s time is coming to an end . He has been a great defender for us but sadly we can’t depend on him.
I also feel SAF needs to talk to evra to lessen the errors. He has made many mistakes in last 2 years and it has cost us dearly ( Even against liverpool in the FA tie last week) .
I for one would not be surprised if fabio takes over the LB position from next season. Fabio deserves chance and can be a great player for us.

Rio threw his back out in 08-09 mate. Evans and Vida formed a great partnership in his absence. But Ash is right. 07-08 was the closest we came to having a solid back 4 for an entire season after Parker-Bruce-Paillister-Irwin. And not surprisingly, it was one of our best seasons in terms of the average amount of goals conceded.

Do you mean “overall meetings” during the premiership era? Overall in the league, our record is 58-40 plus 41 draws. In cup competitions we own them 13-4 plus 6 draws, one Of those draws being Mr Terry’s Oscar winning tragedy – “raindrops in Moscow.”.
SAF showed in the 07-08 season that you can move around the mifielders every week and still have an effective line-up on the pitch but he back four must stay constant for the majority of the season.

Also never done the double over chelski in PL era I think the last time we did was 87/88 and the mighty chelski got relegated that season. The time before that Law, Best and Charlton all played. History tells us that the best we can probably hope for today is a draw.
