    What a start to 2010

Had to get up to Manchester to drop off my sister in law at the airport

Took my young man to OT

Parked the car in front of Sir Matt’s statue

He was absolutely amazed – what a sight to behold.

He comes home and proudly declares that I have been to OT.

    Lost for words…

  5. Jandsdad says:

bring on 2010 hoping for another succesful year

2009! Phew! What a year.like you said aaron, the best moment of this yr is when we lifted the trophy for the 18 time to equal them scousers.from a personal perspective my highest point of the entire year is trouncing TheArse at the Emirates during the CL semi final.that counter btwn Wayne,Christiano & Park was breathtaking! The quickest counter attack of the year.i pretty chuffed when them gooners started leaving the stadium-hillarious!my lowest moment is when Messi put in that header with 15 mins to go during the Final.up to that moment i still had some hope that we will fashion out an equaliser & take the gig to extra time despite them dominating the midfield.ouch!! I still cringe with pain from that memory. All in all, it wasnt such a bad year. This is 2010- the year when HE finally knocks them off their perch!I’m willing to forego the CL in favour of the PL so that finally we are ahead of them(smelly scousers)! When that happens,it will be Giggsy 12~Stevie Me 0.

I just want to take a little second to tell you about Manchester United Football Club. My friend died 3 weeks ago from an illness he was born with and his arents were told after 12 years of treatment that he will not make it to his 13nd birthday. there was a local foundation set u in his name and money was collected for different thing including a trip to see Manchester United lay at home before he assed. The foundation contacted eole at United and said what they were doing and Manchester United refused the foundation to buy tickets and gave 3 tickets to Ian for him and his parents . he met the team and Eric Cantona gave him a signed jersey . it was wonderful. Since this happened in 1994 Ian has bounced back countless number of times and over come what the doctor said was inevitable u untill the fight ended near a month ago. Yesterday a letter arrived at my friends house who lives just around the corner from my cul de sac from manchester united . it was a letter of condolence to Ian parents and family with a photo of Ian his mother Eric Cantona Alex Ferguson and the premiership trophy. I have just found this out off Ians mother a few hours ago as I have just seen her from laying in the snow outside my mothers with Emily and Ians mother is in disbelief about how Manchester United knew about her loss as noone rersenting Ian had been in contact with United since a thank you letter was sent in 1994.
If Manchester United turn into Leeds united and crumble
if they turn into a bolton wonders and never go down but never win anything and bob u and down a table
or if they ever become a portsmouth and come close to closing there doors
always remember that the club you support has something amazingly special about them that is undiscribable

@GHTT That just brought a tear to my eye. That’s why we Love Manchester United.

  9. Jandsdad says:

    @ GHTT

That is the type of thing that makes Manchester United football club more than just a football club.
sorry for your loss pal, your friend is in heaven playing keepy uppies with Georgie Best

  10. bchilds says:

    @GHTT

Obviously a very touching story and, ultimately, a sad ending. However, isn’t it fantastic that a club the size of United have made time to do that for his family.

It’s good to know even during the Glazers running of the club there is still a heart there!

  11. karan_dravs85 says:

I was watching a rerun of hull city vs man utd match, even though i am a big fan of berbatov, i realized in the first goal build up when the ball falls to fletcher on the right, berbatov on the far end keeps staying offside and doesnt even make an effort to come back. After the goal he isn’t jubilant or running towards wayne rooney to celebrate. His ranting towards other players is increasing with every pass, his control and first touch are getting poor though, he was never a terrier like tevez but his class is taking a beating. Even though i am not a berba-basher, this is not exactly the attitude i am looking toward to.
Scott is trying his best to convince us that berbatov is worth every penny, well i just hope there is a lot to come because the level of commitment is falling apart.

  12. King Eric says:

Gotta hate – Superb mate. Sorry to hear of your loss. Every fan will say their club is the best but United REALLY ARE.

    God I love this club.

  13. Spencer says:

well pictures can be deceiving can’t they. The amount of times berbatov appears in the pictures anyone would think he has been the main contributor to united over the last year when we all know that is not the case. I mean players like giggs are hardly pictured!

  14. james f says:

    @GHTT
That’s what separates United from any other club in the world. Sorry for your loss, mate. He’s in good company now, together with Sir Matt Busby and Georgie Best.
    Here’s to the 19th!

  15. rooninho says:

    @ghtt

sorry about your loss mate. our sympathy to their whole family and all the friends. heartbreaking yet touching story. what a wonderful gesture by the club. inspite of the owners united still seem to be a very special family club who actually tries to do the right thing.

even with all the sadness around you, i hope you, your family, and friends, are able to have a happy new year mate.

  16. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

my point was just that 16 years of no contact they really do keep everyone of those people in there minds. I love Manchester United but I was dumbfounded when I was shown the letter ,sorry I never said signed by Mr. Gill, and I was told that story . Every club do nice things for so many different causes but This one tri in 1994 wasnt just to make a dying fan happy for a few hours it was a really concern to the club that a young fan was sick. How they know of that familys loss I dont know the family dont know and the foundation dont know how the club knew but some things are to special for explanation

  17. Red Army says:

Manchester United are more than a football club. I’m sure your friend, my beloved wife, my mum, my dad, Georgie Best, Big Dunc and all of the Munich fallen are in heaven.

  18. Don Corleone says:

Reading GHTT’s story, it just goes to show how badly standards have slipped at United. I am referring to the lack of a minute’s silence or even a minute’s applause on Wednesday night in honour of Albert Scanlon. The only tribute was a brief announcement at half-time while half the ground was in the concourses. I think it was a shocking and dispicable way to treat a man who almost literally gave his life for United, being that he survived the Munich air crash. For those who don’t know, after his football career Albert worked as a security guard at the Colgate factory in Salford. During his final weeks, Albert had been visited numerous times in Hope Hospital by Bobby Charlton. It’s a shame that the club didn’t see fit to honour Albert properly or involve his family in the tribute on the night.

  19. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    Don Corleone
the scanlan family did not want a tribute in a minute silence before a game as was the wishes of the man himself. Many things could be said about Albert but he was a very humble man.

  20. theboogeyman says:

    GHTT- Sorry for your loss.

Red Army- Sorry for your losses.

Manchester United is not a club, it’s a religion.

  21. obertan fold em says:

Sorry ghtt.. may our friend soul rest in peace and am sure sir matt , edwards ,scanllon ,best and all the fallen reds will keep him company and make him proud been a red.

  22. The Kenyan Redvill says:

Morning everyone, @ghtt. Sorry mate, united we stand.

  23. aig alex is god says:

Sky Sports news has reported the dippers are favourites to sign Maxi Rodriguez from Atletico Madrid. Good player and i rate him, surprised that no other big club showed an intrest in him. Just 27 and is free agent in the summer. Will be available for 2-3 million pounds

  24. aig alex is god says:

    ghtt & Red army.

Sorry to hear about that .Just shows that United is more than just a football club.

    Remember

“Good people die earlier because God loves them. But u r still on earth.because someone somewhere loves U more than God….’.

  25. Seun says:

    Hi 2 u mate,fan 4 d loss of d greates icon albert scalon,rest in peace

  26. The Kenyan Redvill says:

whenever perez opens his mouth he makes me laugh. Shame on him. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/115153/Real-Madrid-in-60m-swoop-for-Rooney/

  27. BRIO THE KENYAN RED says:

@GHTT & RED ARMY~sorry pals for your losses.death is the worst visitor anyone can encounter. I’m just glad you both belong to TheUNITED family coz we learnt to endure hardships of life & the ups & downs that come with it.All our beloved ones are in the safest place.I’m proud of United’s action. That is why it is called MANCHESTER UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB: the pride of the world.

  28. BRIO THE KENYAN RED says:

@REDVILL~perev is a stinking fascist who in his weird, warped mind imagines that ,like Christiano, everyone worships money. He is hallucinating. They imagine that United are lunatics to sell their best performer.it’s like telling a farmer to sell his hoe! The good thing is that our hoe never wishes to leave.like you rightly said,SHAME ON HIM with his stinking money!!

  29. Xyth says:

@GHTT very touching story. May your friend rest in peace.

I have a mixed feelings about 2009. Yes we won third title in the row, but that defeat in Rome and the way we played, still hurts.

Off the topic, it appear that fucking fascist are after every one of our players lately. I am sick and tired, as I believe most of you, of these stories. SAF and Gill should now step up and prevent us from becoming a Real Madrid feeder club. [Of course Ronnie would love Rooney at Madrid. I always felt that Ronaldo hit the heights that he did at United thanks to Rooney's sacrifice and unselfishness. Would not be surprised if SAF himself became their next target].

  30. The Kenyan Redvill says:

@BRIO. He did it with beckham in 2002 and then ronaldo in 2009, using marca, but idn’t think he’s going get it right this time.

  31. SteniS says:

Valencia with a faint smile! Nice work!

  32. READ CAREFULLY WHAT I says:

@GHTT – My condolences and thoughts are with you.

The next United goal is for him and you can rest assured he will be watching from the best seat in the house only feeling a lot better and without his wordly troubles and problems.

  33. Costas says:

    GHTT

Sorry about your friend. How nice of the club to remember him after all this time. It’s good to see that the club has kept its principles despite being owned by a foreigner.

  34. Zulu-Malta says:

First of all condolences for Ian’s family !
Mr Gotta hate tiny tears. You did the right thing to publish that story because some people don’t understand why we love MANCHESTER UNITED so much.

  35. Rajiv Toolaseeram says:

    GHTT
    sorry for your loss.
    United = religion

  36. RedMegleeker says:

    Shame you can’t spell though.

  37. King Eric says:

RedMegleeker – Make you feel better does it , slagging people for their spelling? Pathetic to be quite frank.

  38. Sogaz says:

Man u is a fantastic club with good record. I pray they keep it up this year 2010

  39. Jandsdad says:
