I was reading all the comments pointing out Park’s lack of technical ability so I went through all the teams in the top division and noticed that the league isn’t exactly blessed with these types of players and came to the conclusion that Park is one of the leagues’ better technical players. Look at QPR for starters – who in their side compares to Park for technical ability.
Then I started to wonder what exactly is technical ability and came to another conclusion that people mean different things when they say, “technical ability”. It can mean attacking prowess, tricks, basic short passing, ambidexterity, football brain, elusiveness with the ball, dribbling, first touch etc. What player has all these attributes and costs £4m?
Park was obviously a good listener and like OGS before him, he could follow instructions and do exactly what was asked of him. At times he would start games, demoting form attacking players to the bench and causing us to ask if the boss had got it right. He had a great understanding with Evra on the left and there were many times when the 2 of them were the reason teams couldn’t overrun us in midfield, even with an extra man, because they offered an escape route. Park knew when to vacate his wide berth to support midfield, Evra knew to cover the left and Rooney knew to come left because he knew Park and Evra would shortly be bringing the ball forwards. It’s hard to explain but all the cogs in the wheel needed to work for Park’s work to be noticeable. He could chase but at other times he’d stay forward because he knew Carrick was about to intercept a pass so he’d stand in exactly the right place to collect the ‘stray’ ball. Knows his angles, football brain, pretty technical really.
Eric Keane, I am indeed. Having watched the first season fairly recently on DVD I become a instantly hooked and had to grab the books and currently in the middle of the fifth book. Couldn’t watch the second series because I’m on Virgin so miss out on sky Atlantic. More than a tad annoying!

Do Matteo’s honey moon period is over and the corner stone of their success all need replacing and a couple of flash in the pan signings won’t change things over night. My proper 2 cents on park, he did fit the time period of that united squad, the side needed the energy etc, did well in the big games, but with the wide positions so damn talented now, we do not need park. With the midfield in the process of rebuilding, with kagwa signed, valencia is the go to man that replaces the energy park gave us, we add young and nani covering the wide births, park needs to play every week now. But what a bargain he proved to be, 3 million for this guy, and we got over 100 games out of ji, and with what he won and how crucial he was to the team, to get a 3 million pound profit for what service we got out of him at 31, has been a great bit of buisness, which helps getting him off the wage bill is well

Jonathan Woodgate and Lee Bowyer were not considered for England duty when they were charged with a racist attack. The same should have applied to John Terry?
When John Terry gets found guilty of racial abuse and gets community service I for one will be asking why The FA allowed him to go to the Euros when he had a chance to clear his name before the tournament began. Chelsea said it would affect their chances of a top 4 finish and the champions league campaign. Some things are more important than football.
Also if Harry redknapp can go to court while the season is going on then why can’t John Terry?

Some of those things you mentioned aren’t technical abilities, they are more mental and phyical abilities. Park does lack in some of the technical departments but it’s not all about technique.
Just look at Nani and Valencia. Valencia isn’t blessed with technical qualities but he is in the mental and physical stakes and he uses these to offset his definiciencys in the technical areas. Nani is the vastly more technically gifted of the two but he lacks the mental attributes of Valencia. Valencia’s mental attributes are so good that he has managed to take himself from being what should be a average player to one of the best wingers in the world and I’m sure most people would pick him over Nani any day.
Sadly often the mental side is devalued so players like Park, Valencia , Neville, Carrick and others simply don’t get the plaudits they deserve where as worse players with a bit more flair will regularry be raved about even when they only put in a good performance 5 times a season

I don’t disagree that he shoudl have faced trial during the season and that he should have also been suspended from England Duty (infact Chelsea should have suspended him too, in any other workplace he would have been suspended until the trial) but no further action should or could have been taken by the FA until the trials over. If they had he would have walked into court and said he couldn’t get a fair trail because of it got off with it. I’m actually surprised after Bartons comments on twitter about him that the papers all then reported he hasn’t tried that now tbh

I don’t believe they can suspend him from football but a guilty verdict would put Chelsea in a difficult position. It is grounds for him to be sacked.
Also I suspect the FA would then charge him also.
Costas – Pretty sure the court can’t suspend JT from football as they can’t tell Chelsea who to employ. If his abuse was serious enough (eg physical violence or inciting racial hatred) they could give him jail time, but that’s about it. Given the fact that Anton has already called it ‘banter’ it looks like the worst case is JT can get a £2,500 fine (big deal) and maybe some community work.
It’s actually looking like he will get off as Anton has admitted to alluding to Terry’s affair with Bridge’s girlfriend. They’ll say Terry was provoked and it was all banter between rivals and ‘heat of the moment’ stuff.
I always say the punishment should come from the FA and the clubs but if Cole can shoot a kid with an airgun and get away with it, I wouldn’t hold out too much hope.

Also, it’ll be good to see Park playing more often and with the benefit of getting games under his belt he’ll have the chances to find some kind of form. Makes his contribution all the more significant when you consider those big games where he’d be brought in having not played for a while. I wonder what the boss thinks of him leaving (after arranging Fabio’s loan). If he decides to play the (so called) ‘cowardly defensive winger’ formation he’ll no longer have Park available to play that role. I’d have thought Fabio would be used in that position. Giggs can no longer do the running for that role and Young’s strengths are different. I know it’s not what United is about and we have the attacking wide players but maybe a left footer with a good engine and tackling ability could be on the cards?

Remember Park suffering a couple of long term injuries, I think it was in his second and third seasons .
In 2007-08 I think he only came back in February after 4-5 months out.. And what a comeback it was.. Played every single minute of the champions league quarters and semis.. Although he did miss the final, we wouldn’t have won the cup without him that year.. He was also crucial to us getting to the finals in 09 and 11.. Ji Sung Park is truly a big game player..

We need 3 players next season if we assume nobody is to be sold, a left back and 2 midfielders. Once we get them there’s nothing wrong with the squad IMO.

@ samuel – Mate, totally agree about Coentrao, even before he joined the virus. If the virus still want Evra try a swap deal with them. Don’t think we’re interested in him though and if we were don’t think we’ll get him because with the exception of Inter, the virus don’t sell top players to rival European clubs. So we can rule that one out.
NRD – baines was intensely linked with united when he was at wigan but he joined everton and i’ll be honest, i can’t really see any improvements in his game. His defensive fragility is hidden by his good penalty taking and free kicks goals record. Valencia tormented him, nani has dismantled him and robben ripped him apart for holland e.t.c. No way is he worth 18million pounds and if he’s not going to be an improvement on evra who’s slowing down these days then what’s the point?.

Thanks for the response guys. Didn’t know how the system worked. If Anton has in fact admitted that it was all banter, then I doubt Terry is in store for any kind of severe punishment. Just a fine. Wakey’s point about Chelsea firing him is an interesting one. But I doubt they would ever do that.
I am more interested in the FA’s stance. They have to make a decision on this and they can’t turn a bline eye. Banter or not, this situation isn’t much different to the Evra-Suarez one. If Suarez got an 8 match ban, Terry shouldn’t walk away from this with just a fine.
NRD – The virus do seem to prefer marcelo and i’m not sure why as coentrao is a classy player. Some questioned his defensive skills but anyone watching him for portugal would see he’s improved massively and will continue to do so as he’s no where near his peak. Maybe he’ll get fed up of being on their bench and FERGIE can tempt him but that’s wishful thinking really.
In fabio, i feel we have a player with tremendous potential. Hopefully he garners enough experience and return a stronger player. He could take that spot but we’re obviously looking for a player that can slot in straight away and i can’t see many.

@ samuel – Never rated him at any point. It’s shocking that thats the best solution that the club have come up with. £12-£18 million!!!! I know I keep going on about that figure but its stupidly high especially as we’ve been very frugal with our cash over the last few years in regards to player purchases (with the exception of last season and Bebe).
Like I said before, this signing will happen and even though not at all happy with it he will still get my ultimate support and get the chance to prove me wrong much like Carrick did.

Agree with the additions needed….£12m or 16 is ludicrous, but United are damned if they do and damned if they don’t in the eyes of others when it comes to signings. We even received criticism for signing German Player of the Year, Shini Kagawa.
Many regarded Hargreaves at the time of purchase, money well spent and Carrick as a waste of £18m. Things change, Hargo was worth £15m at max and Carrick is priceless to our team now.
Evra might not be around at United come 2013-14 season. All his friend (Park,Obertan and Tevez) are gone, he could be the next on the way out, with his decline gaining speed after being dropped by France now aswell.
We need an experienced left back untill Fabio can take over, I have my doubts about Fabio, but we will learn more about the boy after his loan spell.
Baines could prove to expensive but we need reinforcements….Evra and Baines (Not many team can boast they have 2 Lefts backs of actual quality).

NRD – Baines will be a huge gamble at that price as i feel full-backs should only cost 10million or less except if they’re extraordinary. Even if he proves us wrong, we’d still have over-paid but i guess you’re right, the signing seems inevitable and not much can be done about it. I’d give him the benefit of the doubt but i’m not convinced at all.

Coentrao at Benfica looked like Magic, doubt he’ll come good for Madrid, in the CL, they dropped Marcelo due to ill-discipline, played Coentrao, who was equally bad, hesitant one on one with “Robbery” and was all over the place positionally when he did start….in fact very much like Evra !
They put him at Cente-mid and the same problems…he was wayward.
I wouldn’t like to see Evra and mini-Evra on our left side, I’d much prefer a more conservative reliable type. Defending duties come first imo.

Following the case so far it seems that Terry’s lawyers are insinuating that Anton is playing the race victim card. It’s sickening but is to be expected. They are turning the screw and the lip reader’s statement has fucked things slightly for the CPS. Also by mentioning that Anton was goading Terry about his fling will have done him no favours.
I feel Terry will get off, there’s no jury involved so he only has to convince the judge he did no wrong. He’s had 8 months or so to concoct a believable story with the aid of some people who are expert wordsmiths.
There was no reason why this case shouldn’t have been heard before the Euros when the maximum punishment available is a £2.5K fine. By delaying it and having a good Euros he was hoping it would be swept under the rug (to a degree it has). With Stephen Lawrence’s Mum showing up, hopefully that will put some pressure on the judge to make the right decision.

Hi mate. Going by what you and Cyril have said, what worries me most is that Anton has lost some of his credibility during this procedure. I don’t know what happened between them, but I said this the same during the Evra case. When you get insulted, no one forces you to insult the other person’s race. Banter happens all the time in football. For what it’s worth, Terry has said that people mocking him about his sex life doesn’t faze him anymore. He is adamant that he never said those words in the first place. And like you said, he had a lot of time to build a strong defence. I think a fine will be the maximum punshment. But like I said, Terry’s reputation hasn’t taken a hit more than the FA’s has. You can’t deal with one case (Suarez) and then wash your hands off the other one.
I am not sure on how to react if baines joins us. I would be both happy and disappointed. If he joins I will fully support him. He will play useful part in coming future knowing that evra’s time at united is coming to an end. But like many have said 16 million for baines is too much imo.
And if baines joins us we may see less of Fabio and blackett . Honestly I will prefer if blackett gets some chance instead of spending 16 odd millions. General consensus from my experiences as I may be called as a witness in the future to something similar, is that if you are racially abused –

In a nutshell to walk away and then get told you’re the bigger man but in reality you feel about 2 inches tall. In Anton’s case its turned into Team Terry vs Team Ferdinand. As per the FA, once a case has been referred to the CPS the FA can put their own sanctions on if they like but it will still go to court. By not putting any sanctions on Terry was purely done to not effect the outcome of the case. Not to defend the FA but the whole situation was taken out of their hands before they could do anything. Just look at how long the Suarez case took to sort. The CPS decided it was going to prosecute Terry within a week.
By seeing the actions of Terry in recent years it tells me there isn’t much to gain by being the bigger man (whatever that means). Don’t believe me, what did Rio get up to this summer?

While Baines may just seem solid the same could be said about a number of players United have signed who have thrived at a club like United. Some players are big time players who at a big club step up like Valencia while others wilt.
SAF has a fairly good record at finding these gems who have the right attitude to step up multiple levels at a club like United and if we are in for Baines I suspect SAF sees the qualities in him that will see him also do so.

I’m not sure it is complete bullshit. United have put significant amount of resources into South America over the last few years. Stam was hired specifically to scout Dodo for a few months a few years ago, Douglas Costa was seriously chased and I suspect if either his club hadn’t got greedy (they ultimately sold him for less than Utd offered after all) or had even agreed to the trial united requested to decide if they would increase the offer, United scouts in Brazil have watched Ganso fairly regularly and we have that link with Desportivo Brasil where they sign young players United suggest and then we get first option and the young players spend time training at united or even joining Utd or one of our European feeder clubs on loan.
So a serious interest in Lucas wouldn’t surprise me. And the reports generally say a team has been sent and including Jim Lawlor would hardly be surprising in such a team imho but there would almost certainly be other people there to arrange the details.
If there is an interests however I do wonder if it would end up like Douglas Costa and Fall through because a middle ground in value can’t be found. Mind you Inter have helped by pissing them off with such a low offer which always helps other clubs looking to bid

Maybe an alternative would be to buy a solid DM and put carrick on the deep-lying playmaker role (football manager anyone?) but i find carrick too static for that role, but thats just my opinion.

I don’t think the Gaffer is ever going to sign another midfielder from Brazil especially after Ando debacle. Besides we already have an attacking mid in Kagawa so what we need is someone who can do Fletcher’s or the old Parky’s role of harassing the opposition.

We played Anderson out of position, something we should absolutely stop doing with other players. I really hope that SAF doesn’t play Kagawa on the wing, it would be mental since based on his two years in dortmund he should easily be our best #10. Also, Cleverley had like half a dozen good games at the start of last season in a team that played a very expansive style of football. He is not ready to be in our starting eleven yet. I think some are really overrating him atm, we had such a lack of midfielders last season that people started to put crazy amount of pressure on him which I don’t think he is ready to fulfill yet.

As I said yesterday, they’re a brand of people we like to call Internet Warriors. Most of us on the Internet say the same stuff we would in the real world. We behave the same way. These people think that just because they’re in front of a computer with no name and no face, they can say whatever they like about anybody they want. All because nobody will hold them accountable for it. It is sad and pathetic really.
If you think Cleverley as a footballer is over-rated, then I don’t know what to say. However, Cleverley’s impact at the beginning of last season was so immense that it may lead some of us to expect too much of him this season. That is the main issue when assessing Clevs. There is do doubt that he is (*ahem*) as some people like to highlight, “technically gifted”. But he is coming off a major injury, how effective is he gonna be? If he gains back his full fitness, then he’s gonna be a major plus for us this season.
Cleverley is not overrated. The lad has come through the system and has earned his place in the team. People did not expect anything from him before last season started. But when they saw what he did to that City midfield in the community shield then they started hyping him up. Who knows what we could have achieved if he had stayed fit for the entire season? I genuinely believe that he has all the makings to be a world class midfielder and if he stays fit this season then we could see him make a step towards fulfilling that potential.
Yes, that was six games where he looked good. Then came all the ridiculous TC23 stuff and once he returned he never really got going again, which probably was expected. It’s just that we can’t know which Cleverley turns up, the one which played six good games or the other one. I just can’t see him in the starting lineup against Everton, and think that he has a lot to do still before he is key to our team. I’d say keep Carrick fit and that will be the key.

He was no kid last season itself. He had multiple loan deals with different clubs, in one of which he was named POTS. Last season, the impact he had on our team’s ball movement, pressing etc. was plain for everyone to see. So, I quite don’t understand on what basis people are saying he shouldn’t be played from the beginning this season. In fact, he should be played more and more because he is going to bring the best out of the front quartet of Nani/Young, Valencia, Kagawa and Rooney/Welbeck/Hernandez.
He’s gonna be one of the cores in our spine: DDG-Vida/Rio/Evans-Carrick/DM-TC23-Rooney.
I wonder if kiko macheda can step up this season. FERGIE still has trust in him but he needs sustained amount of games as a pure centre forward and not dispatched to the wing, he needs these injuries. Last few seasons, macheda has looked out of sorts but he’s still a younger player and perhaps he needs that belief and confidence to really shine. Upcoming is crucial for him. Hopefully he has become a stronger player.

I love some constructive critisism more than anything, but when I hear stuff like “Park was responsible for the 2 defeats against Barcelona” (as if he was the only one that underperformed), “that he was out of his depth against Xavi and Iniesta” (even though he played on the wing), “that he was involved in 9 out of our 11 defeats this season” (just like De Gea) or “that he was nowhere near the line up when we won the Moscow final” (although he was there in the semi finals against, you guessed it, Barcelona), then it’s disappointingly easy to respond to. I didn’t even have to mention Park’s 10 goals against big sides or the fact that he’s among Wenger’s nightmares.

Yes, at the beginning of last season he was great, but so was our team. One could say that he looked good because he played for a team that had lots of the ball and the opposition was afraid of us. Hell, even Ando looked good. Sadly for Tom, Kevin Davies is allowed to play football. I guess I’m not just ready to dub him the new Iniesta after a handful of good games for United. The media tend to overhype any english player that shows promise, cleverly is a victim of that. Is he overrated? not really but he’s not proven either. He has great potential and potentials have to be developed into something meaningful. Cleverly has all the attributes of a quality midfielder, he seems to model his game on the quick passing and move/ link up play with the forwards of the spanish. He’s intelligent and utilises possession well. He can also make runs the box and score but he needs to do that more this season. He can be a quality top player but needs to avoid injuries and get stronger in order to cope with the demands of premier league football. He has not made it yet but he’s close and should grab the opportunity laid in front of him. I hope i see improvements next season, it’s crucial for him. He needs to impose his authority on the pitch by demanding the ball and being a playmaker from a different position. He can hopefully come good.

If Cleverley was playing good because the team as a whole looked good, why did everything start to go awry the moment he got injured. Our poor patch coincided with his long layoff. That is no coincidence. Anderson who has looked like a fat chunk of meat for long periods of time, looked great with Cleverley around. Young was producing top-notch football with Cleverley around. He was the core player who linked up everything in our goal of the season last year against City in the Shield game. All of that is not due to co-incidence.
Nobody is dubbing him the next Iniesta. He is Tom Cleverley. Why does everyone compare any new player to somebody who’s already well-known? Let them be. They’ll be just as good as is.

Gaitan I think was all paper talk BUT Douglas Costa was a serious target. If his club hadn’t been so greedy he would have been a United player. In the end they lost out because United moved on and they Lost him for less than United offered.

I don’t get it personally. Costa’s career path hasn’t justified a club of United, Real or Barcelona’s status being interested in him. Might just be me, but at the time it felt like paper talk. Plus, our club doesn’t have a good track record when it comes to young South Americans anyway. I don’t think it’s Fergie’s prefered market, hence my scepticism about the Lucas rumors. And what also makes this story less believable, is the transfer fee. I heard he was valued at 30 million? Too much for someone unproven at European football. Newton Heath played when only Black and White fotos existed, so only records would be in news accounts, family lore, letters and possibly club ledgers where kit was ordered.
Interesting though is the history of club kits that incorporate G&G into certain United togs going back all the years I have been following the club.
Anyone got the back story on what started this debate. Seem very odd.

Cedars, The 2 links I posted suggest that at least from 1882-87 Red and White were the colours. Agree with you that this comes as some kind of shock.

What we are saying is that there is no evidence whatsoever to back up the story that Newton Heath’s original colours were green and gold. None at all. We at United kits, as well as Mark Wylie (United’s curator – a really decent bloke with no corporate bias at all), writers and historians like Iain McCartney, Brian Landamore and Gary James have spent cumulative years going through original newspaper articles and match reports and have found nothing mentioning the club’s colours until the late 1880s. They are recorded as red and white.
Green and gold jerseys were registered with the league in 1894/95 (clubs did not have to register colours prior to circa 1892 off the top of my head) and 1895/96, but they were solid green shirts with gold trim if the only surviving photo from the era is anything to go by: http://www.flickr.com/photos/35779154@N02/3722646929/in/set-72157618756336473. Registered colours for the 1892/93 season (when the most famous NH photo was taken) were indeed red and white – that being why I’ve coloured it in those shades.
No conspiracy theory, just working from facts at hand rather than popular knowledge (dare I say “myth”?).
Mark tells me he believes Umbro knew that the 1892 kit wasn’t green and gold, but obviously they were the colours most famously associated with Newton heath and a red and white third kit would have been neither use nor ornament in 1992.
Costas – like I say, the more super rich clubs out there the more obstacles there are to stop City cleaning up. It would be just City’s luck to have become by far the richest club in the world, only for a dozen other clubs to be taken over by similarly rich investors, leading City to get lost in the mix and go back to being also-rans.

Well a lot of players can claim that they are responsible for their teams’ revenue, that’s for sure. They are the main attractions. The problem for me is when they start losing sight of reality. For example, you’ll get a player leaving his club because an offer of 80k per week isn’t good enough for him. That’s ludicrous. Or you’ll get instances where players like Drogba, Eto and Del Piero are off to some third rate league just because the money is too good to pass up. However, that’s what it’s come down to now. Heck, even young Academy lads are thinking with their wallets.

Hi pal. Well the O’Shea sale never made much sense anyway. Other than the fact that squad players have become more expendable than ever in today’s United. However, looking at his injury problems this season, I have to say that we don’t know what role he can play anymore. Seems like the years have taken a toll on him. For me right now, the biggest head scatcher is the fact that we sent Fabio out on loan and we are spending 12mil plus on a left back when our midfield problems are yet to be addressed. And they probably won’t…
my gut feeling says,
we will not sign a left back,
I think we will have to give a chance to the probability that Evra can be better and overcome his lapses, in which case he will be the number 1 at United again..

Good morning everyone. This might sound a bit negative but it looks to me that we will not sign a midfielder. The midfield rumours have slowed down in the past few days. Training camp is about to start. We will probably try cleverley there again this year and hope he stays fit all year. The only signing we might be able to make might just be the left back.
I hope his new hair style brings him good luck..

Maybe it’s the sceptic in me, but that interview was annoying more than anything. Anderson had a very good first season and a relatively good second one. Ever since, it’s the same stuff each summer. “He’s ready for his biggest season in a United shirt”. And it’s also annoying seeing this bad luck excuse pop up again. Tom was unlucky with injuries this season. Anderson wasn’t. You can’t have long spells out every season while you are in your prime and blame it on luck.
Anderson used to be one of my soft spots at the club, but it’s been 5 years now and it’s time we went a different route.

bar one season, he has not even played more than 50% of league games due to injury, poor form etc etc.
and he has not featured in any national games since 2008..
if he gets good run of games, he can surely up his game and i think he has one last chance..
lets not forget he was amongst the top 5 midfielders in the league last season in the first few months..

Hello mate. To be fair Ando had a blinding start to last season.
The fatty burger monster just keeps gettign injured though…!
If he stays fit for one season it might give SAF a chance to assess if he is any good…! Ha.
He does not need to prove anyone
He only need to keep fit you will see he will drop lbs
He’s a top drawer great going forward, great at keeping the ball and a great passer. you saw him hit some 40 yarder pass last season
He’s a great and exciting midfielder
Hopefully he manages to stay fit this term….

AlphaRS & Costas, Fitness isn’t due to injuries alone. It seems to like Anderson isn’t self-consciously doing anything to keep himself fit. Otherwise he wouldn’t come back from every injury as if he’s been munching on countless chicken wings. He gets fatter by the day. Infractions like the car accident which thankfully didn’t result in anything serious. He keeps changing his hairstyle. Yes, that last one is no big deal but that sort of stuff doesn’t endear himself to anyone. He just isn’t taking life or football or playing for the world’s biggest club seriously. I wanted to give him one last chance last season. Now, I don’t care if he stays or goes.
I honestly don’t think Anderson is the reason that we may not get a new mid-fielder. If we are worried about the MF situation, then for sure as hell Sir Alex is as well. As I’ve maintained many times, someone like him will not be oblivious to a core issue in United’s squad. There are multiple reasons why we may not get someone new. 1) No one’s available. 2) They don’t want to come to Manchester or United. 3) We can’t match their transfer fees or wages. I know the last one is going to be pointed at by everyone as to why we are not getting anyone new. But in reality, the first two are major reasons why someone doesn’t come to Old Trafford.
And of course, the biggest reason like last season may be that Sir Alex wants to go in with the likes of Cleverley, Jones, Tunnicliffe etc. Going in with youngsters may not be to everyone’s liking and hindsight may prove that wrong, but if that is Sir Alex’s choice, then there’s little we can do.
Confession time – I’ve always loved Ando. Something about him – the way he plays, a touch of flamboyance, getting stuck in. I know he hasn’t really cut it, and a lot of the crticism is potentially very valid, but I still love the fat bastard
Just close your eyes when he shoots or makes the final pass…you’ll discover he’s not that bad. Really.

True that. And he also played well for a brief period in November and December of 2010. He has the talent, I firmly believe that. But it’s the same old story with him. Can’t seem to stay fit. And I am not sure about his attitude either. He was lucky to salvage his United career after his car crush last summer.

And regarding the stats you posted, those are games in general. They are not starts. He’s started an even less amount of games every season. I am all for giving a player an opportunity to prove they are improving, but they have to make an effort. Anderson has been battling weight and fitness issues for the last 2-3 years. Like I said above, does he have the proper attitude to work on his weaknesses? I am starying to doubt it.

Well, lets just hope a youngster is actually given a chance then. Whether it’s Tunni, Powell or Petrucci. Because I seem to recall that Fergie’s plan B in Scholes’ absence at Wigan was to play Giggs at CM. Not Pogba and not Cleverley. Likewise for the Blackburn game at OT. And that’s why most fans want a new midfielder. Because this overreliance on Carrick (assuming he never gets injured, which is extremely risky), Fletcher (with his illness not going away anytime soon) and the 2 golden oldies has become very unhealthy for the team.
Anyway, as for Anderson, I find it hard to blame him for his laid back attitude. He’s making a shitload of money at one of the best teams in the world, spends most of the season recuperating at his house and he can seemingly get away with anything. It’s a great life!
I’d personally like to welcome this youngish lad Anderson back into the Red fold. It’s like signing a new midfielder!
