Cristiano Ronaldo subsituted himself in Saturday’s victory over Sunderland after colliding with the opposition in the penalty area.
Clutching his side, Ronaldo made his way down the tunnel with over 20 minutes to play, Ryan Giggs filling his place.
Ahead of our match with Aalborg on Wednesday (which two lucky RoM winners will be going to thanks to the competition we were running last week!) Ronaldo is back at Carrington training.
Whilst Ronaldo was in training this morning, Michael Carrick, Patrice Evra and Danny Welbeck were all missing.

Man Utd News 24/7

He’s a fast healer that lad!!
Minor knock – pretty much nothing for Mr. Superman
Welbeck mentioned on his Facebook that he was out for a month with a knee problem.
Carrick out? Hope he’s not injured!
ronaldo wasn’t properly injured in the first place, that’s why he’s back so quick. Thank god for the goal otherwise there would be an enquiry into why this upstart substituted himself off at 0-0 with 20 minutes to go and whilst Rafael stood just outside him waiting to cross a ball into the box…Sickens me, we all have to forget so quick because of his ability and because we’ll need him playing well this season but he’s prone to being a twat and we all know it.
well said jake…
walking off the pitch is so disrespectful to the fans.
rooneys goal against newcastle(yeah that one) he said was from anger that united where one down they should of just had a peno that was not given and he was INJURED AND KNEW HE WAS GOING OFF BUT DIDNT WANT TO CAUSE UNITED WERE LOOKING FOR A GOAL. i started this season with a ronaldo 50/50 frame of mind where the man was someone i didnt liek but i fucking loved the player playing in a united shirt, now i keep getting the feeling he doesnt want to play as much as a Rooney or even an Oshea so as each mach goes by its becomeing 45/55 , 40/60 etc.
Since when did football players started using facebook??? Are you for real???
why there is always doubts about ronaldo
shit the last thing we need is more players joining hargo…hope carrick and evar and wellbeck are just precautionary’s.
And c’mon guys…lets get behind ron….we need the gelled up madieran lad…and we know it. Whatever he did – didnt do…he’s our best player..the worlds best…our main weapon…so lets get behind him
SAF has said “Michael should be back for saturday”. Should set new champions league record if we avoid defeat tomorrow.
suhayl, i dont actually think we NEED ronaldo he was a fantastic player last season but whats he done so far this season? he hasnt scored any deadly important goals so we’ve proven we dont need him to play well, if we did sell him we’d obviously need to buy another world class midfielder but we arent a one man team and he needs to pull himself together and realise the world doesnt revolve around him.
He’s lucky to be player for a club like United, its not the other way around.
Suhayl spot on about Ronny. Red Manc you seriousely acting childish. You dont have a clue. The whole world realised what he’s done for us single-handedly in the last couple of years! Take away RONALDO’S 42 goals and see where we heading. I seriousely dont think United should’ve won the Champions League without Ronaldo. Top Goal-scorer in Europe. That sentence alone speaks volumes, does’nt it? You’re just not greatful.
Sully – people said the same shit about Ruud. We won the league the season after he left without even buying a replacement. You talk like Ronaldo is the be all and end all for this club. They’ll always be someone else to score Manchester United’s goals…
@ Sully: Where was Ronaldo when we led for 80-odd minutes at Stamford Bridge? That’s right, on the bench.
And yes, it was fookin’ amazing that he scored 42 goals, but were they all scored by him taking the ball off Big Ed and dribbling past every opposition player? No.
If we’re going to talk about players we need, then how about that man from Argentina whose currently having to sit on the fookin’ bench (shakes head in disbelief)? Just off the top of my head, he got us vital points at Tottenham away and Blackburn away and set us on our way to beatin’ Chelsea at home. Ronaldo? Derby away (again, off the top of my head). The CL Final is a mixed bag for him after he missed his peno, so it wouldn’t be fair to count that, really.
Sully shut the fuck up mate, i was acting childish because i had a different opinion? alot of ‘fans’ like yourself seem to think this is Ronaldo FC we won plenty of trophies before he played for us and we will win plenty when/if he leaves. Of course his 42 goals were great last season he is a great player but he isnt loyal and he isnt the heart of United. and what you said about the champions league is utter rubbish your forgetting he missed a penalty against barca away and how he was the only player to miss him penalty in the final, he obviously did help us but we win as a TEAM.
Dont tell me i dont have a clue when ive been going to Old Trafford for fucking years and seen some fantastic players come and go but at the end of it all United have come out on top.
We’re MANCHESTER UNITED not ronaldo FC
Haha!
Red Manc – says it like it is!
Ronaldo aint the player he was last year unfortunately…. he is being paid too much attention by defend4rs who think it is their lifes ambition to kick the shit outta him…. he will get stronger a sthe season progresses ….hopefully..!
Ronaldo may not yet have hit top gear this season, but there is no point saying we don’t need the slave from Madeira:) He is still our most potent threat on counter attacks by a huge distance, draws defenders to him in hoardes inside and just outside the D and the only world class winger in the squad. I really feel Park is a terrific performer but can’t be called world class yet. And Nani’s shortcomings are probably more upstairs, but still a problem nonetheless. So, Ronaldo is still our best player alongwith maybe Rooney and Carrick.
Ha ha , tell it as it is .
Just watched Rent boys scrape through to last sixteen. Very unconvincing. Complete lack of ideas .
there’s no point in starting a get rid of ronaldo campaign but I’d fuckin like to, just to show him he can’t just ‘win the fans back with a few goals’ as he said. The fella’s clueless, I’m a better actor than him because if I’d wanted to get the fans on my side for a year I’d have managed it by now. All his silly little interviews with the ‘not so subtle’ hints that his heart is at united ‘for the moment’ wink wink, his petulance on the pitch, his lack of interest, stopping a ball with his hands because he wasn’t goin to get a good connection on it with his head thinkin the ref would just probably let him off. He’s an attention-seeking half-wit who would rather lie in the centre of the pitch sobbing (because then the cameras could just focus on him) than enjoy the moment with his team-mates. I have never seen a more selfish player at United and I’m well sick of it and well said Scott, we got rid of Ruud, we were fine, we shifted about 5 at the end of one championship season, was it 96? and we were fine, beckham, fine, united will go on, there may be a period of adjustment but we’ve got so many good players and we are playing well with Ronaldo moping about on one wing so buy a winger who wants to play for us and I’m sure we would be alright. He’s an embarassment to the club at the moment.
Anish: Best players? you fail to mention the likes of Rio, Vidic and Scholesy the real heart of the team.
Anish: Best players? You fail to mention the likes of Rio, Vid and Scholesy the real heart of the team.
Scott i’m not trying to say without Ronaldo there’s no Manchester United, no fucking way! We’ve got to appriciate his talents when he’s wearing OUR VERY OWN RED shirt. You lot are just too stubborn to admit that Ronaldo is our BEST player. But deep-down you know how valuable Ron is for us. And Ruud was’nt the European Player Of The Year, was he?
I would agree with Sully to the point that he is defo our best player (according to Sir Bobby our best ever, so im not gonna argue)
But he was no way the sole reason for European glory last summer.
It will be a sad day when he leaves OT, but if we can get our hands on a Jesus Navas or someone, we will be just as good and unbeatable a side, imo.
i think red-manc put it very well in his two posts. But all utd fans should understand that it was always going to be a tall order for ronaldo to repeat his heroics( in front of goal at least!) of last season. What he should be doing though is to be more of a team player, but unfortunately the young man looks, sounds and acts increasingly arrogant as the day goes…. wake up lad the world does not rotate round “axis RONALDO” . it would have been nice to watch him struggle in the present JOKE that is now MADRID !
When Rooney had his hip injury last season he limped through the Chelsea defence at Stamford Bridge (Clearly in pain) and puts the ball in the net. Ronaldo has the same injury on Saturday and immediately subs himself, walks down the tunnel crying like a girl whilst the team play with 10 men. Says it all….
Well said Jake, the kid is a fool and I don’t buy the argument that ‘he’s wearing the red shirt’. I think he’s bringing the game and the shirt into disrepute, his antics are shocking – can you imagine Charlton, Best, Law, Hughes, Robson, Keane, Cantona etc showing so much disrespect to their team mates and the fans?
I’d rather finish fourth with a team of professionals than watch that pr*k pirouette around the filed like he has some divine right to do as he likes. Let him f*ck of to Madrid, where selling shirts around the world is the no.1 goal.
I follow this club for more than just winning titles, there is an ethos that runs deep through the veins that has held the club in high regard for years and makes you proud to be a fan.
Some great comments here people. I especially like the one from ‘gotta hate tiny tears’ about Rooney. Rooney, though a scouser, looks like he’d die for United at times. He gives his all, I love the way that when he loses a ball, he chases it all the way down the pitch just to get it back. I love the way Ferdinand thrusts his head into any challenge or the way Vidic is always there when you need him. I love the way O’shea can sit on the side lines, quiet as a mouse and be happy just to walk out in a Manchester United shirt. I love the way Giggs and Scholes have handled their careers, no commercial bollox, no kiss and tells etc etc they just do the job. I wish Ronaldo would take a leaf out of some of the aforementioned books, show some gratitude and just keep schtum!
Giggsy had a few kiss and tells!!!!
Anybody who think that “we dont need Ronaldo to play well” – Do you understand that your opinion is fully opposite to opinion of SAF, who did his best to keep Ronaldo?
May be do you think that Fergi is a fool? Or do you believe that he know about football less than you?
Well said Helen. Spot on mate.
The difference is Fergie is a manager, we are the supporters therefore our opinions of ronaldo will be completly different to Fergies, nobody can deny ronaldo is a great player but he isnt the heart of the team he hasnt played well at all this season yet we can won games. Ferdinand Vidic Scholes Rooney they are the players that make us tick and notice theres more than one? yes thats because we’re a TEAM. ronaldo is a unloyal player who is very selfish thats why he isnt liked by us its not based on his ability.
The Old Trafford crowd that has plenty of people that dont like ronaldo (like myself and others on here) yet we dont boo him and i think thats only because we know Fergie and the rest of the lads wouldnt be to pleased.
people that have totally forgiven ronaldo im sorry but you dont fully understand the meaning of Manchester United and what it is to support this club.
Sir Alex is a legend and the fact you two Ronaldo FC fans accuse us of thinking anything bad about Fergie proves my point that your only here to see ronaldo.
“its not based on his ability.”
Spot on.
Helen and Sully would do well to read my post in the other thread.
Oh, and Helen, try not hiding behind SAF next time, eh? If Ronaldo was as vital to SAF as you suggest, then there’d've been no way a half-fit Hargo would’ve started against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge over a half-fit Ronaldo.
Sully, best player without a doubt…but increasingly his antics on and off the pitch are bringing us closer to the point where the benefits of keeping him are nearly matched by the negatives…At this current rate, him being at united will become untenable..I think most people here are recognising that the whole Ronaldo thing is starting to deteriorate, hence the effective pleas which are masked in anger for it to get sorted. And maybe, just maybe if the media, online bloggers and the crowd at OT voice those worries we can get SAF or someone at United to turn it around, saying nothing and letting it all carry on like this is weak, blind and counter-productive to Manchester United, we are not Real Madrid or Arsenal where individual players can court the limelight to the detriment of the team. Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted to making mistakes before, sometimes I can pick them myself so it’s not out the realms of possibility that some of us could be right about the Ronaldo situation, I can imagine everyone at Old Trafford (inc. SAF) tip-toeing around him sometimes but I can’t be sure…but that’s the impression I’m getting…(walking off straight into the tunnel for a knock on the hip is not ‘sensible’, maybe that was a media front by SAF but it looked like he might have really believed it in the interview)
A legend is already a legend and nothing can stop him from getting more awards. More goals in champ. and prem. I luv christina ronaldo his my mentor and sir alex ferguson am loyal. Simonbliz.
shouldn’t everyone be behind a player aslong as they are in a red shirt? when ronaldo leaves, that should be a different story. he has always given his best when playing, so why not some support? every player has that dream of playing for that club they grew up supporting, ronaldo has his of real madrid. he never demanded a transfer – although he did not handle the speculations from the summer too well, but he is still only 23 years old and learning and maturing.
Red, thanks for defending the boy. He’s still young and people forget this once in a while. Young people make reckless decisions all the time and so happens, Ronaldo’s moment of recklessness was there for the whole footballing world to see. It’s tough living life in his Vapors.

RedManc – I am sure that you think nothing bad about Fergi. I am know that it impossible. Therefore I am surprised that your statements contradict your feelings. One matter not to like Ronaldo, another – to reckon that he is not necessary to the team. ANd the latter is opposite to Ferguson’s opinion, isn’t it?
AS regards club’s support – How specifically can the fun’s dislike to Ronaldo support the club?
to EastStandManc – The fact that SAF rejected 100 million pounds offer is a lively evidence that Ronaldo was vital to him.
The fact that the half-fit Hargo was over a half-fit of Ronaldo is a prove that Hargo’s half-fit was better than Ronaldo’s.
Helen im struggling to understand what your saying, if your not english then fair play on your effort but if you are english your gonna have to make it abit clearer
As it stands with ronaldo being a United player yes he is a vital part of our team, but if he was to leave we would move on like we do time and time again. Like ive said before ronaldo isnt the main man we are a TEAM which he has only been a big part off for 2 seasons now you all seem to forget he was quite poor when he first started off here no doubt he’s world class now but he hasnt always been this player that we see today.
and about Fergie rejecting the money i do agree that he desperatly wanted to keep ronaldo but it was also more than that it was a statement that we dont have to sell to anybody if we dont want to, and even though i dont like ronaldo im glad he didnt leave this summer because of the way real madrid were acting. Fergie rejecting that money and ronaldo not signing for them allowed us to keep our pride and let everyone know we’re the fucking biggest team in europe not that spanish joke of a club.
red-shouldn’t everyone be behind a player aslong as they are in a red shirt? when ronaldo leaves, that should be a different story. he has always given his best when playing, so why not some support?….This is ridiculous, I don’t know where to start…He hasn’t always given his best, he hasn’t for the last few games so what then?…as long as he is in a red shirt? oh but if he likes to drop hints to the media that being at United won’t last forever whilst he’s playing for us that’s ok? It’s like your bird telling all your mates she’s on about leaving you then coming up to you and being sort of alright….some of the time…’well she’s fine with me so there’s no problem’…you’re a bit of an idiot mate, you have to try and address the problem, that’s what we are vainly trying to do, it’s blind and weak to give support unconditionally, then the support would never be appreciated by the loyal players would it? and as for maturing crap, he’s 23, not 12 so let’s stop trying to dream up excuses for his behaviour. oh and helen you’re an idiot as well
what the fuck jake, read my earlier posts before you call me an idiot. I dont like ronaldo at all.
dont fucking call me an idiot mate
erm il think you see i quoted another red……whose actually called red….turnin on an ally…what next haha
