    bayoRED. LOL.

On a serious note, I hope Ando has a good pre season. I know many people don’t rate him highly but I think if he stays fit then he will be an excellent option for us in the midfield. I would like to see the Cleverley-Ando partnership resume normal service when the season starts. Please stay fit Ando and stay off the bloody pies.

  21. CedarsDevil says:

    Sandy Baby

Oh yes I do pal, had it ever since we signed him…..

    Valencia and Kagawa?

    Valencia and Brady?

do we have any other wingers on the tour?

    Even Lingard might play there..

  29. CedarsDevil says:

    Costas

Bebe was caught steeling food from Ando, hence he was out of the frame!

  30. Sandeep1878 says:

    Cedars,

Tom C is in London for Olympic games for team GB :)

  31. CedarsDevil says:

    Sandy

Cheers pal, forgot all about that!

  32. slim says:

    Sheesh New thread.
Anyone a bit worried about the state of our defence.
Not as optimistic ad others with regards vidic.
Rio and Evans fitness is a worry. Especially the former, maybe
age is just catching up either way its a struggle to get 3 games a week from him.

  33. 911_DEVIL says:

I would adore to see my fav player bebe
He has bulked up a bit, chicharito looks like a 10 year old boy
    Kagawwwa you beauty!!!
This shinji boy excites the hell outta me
Is he the next big thing????
Watch rooney combine with him for a rapid counter ever

  34. slim says:

Apologies if my posts are disjointed , phone screen cracked last night and its a pain typing on it still.
Was gonna add to my previous post, a shrewd CB signing may do us a world of good.
    Squad depth and all

  35. 911_DEVIL says:

    @slim
    Shame

  36. King Eric says:

“Berba’s skinning up”. Ha. Nice one.

  37. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

    Ando is looking slimmer

My eyes will be on Tunni, Nick Power, Ando and Kagawa.

Also will be nice to see what Lingard,Petricci,Blackett and Berbatov offer during the tour.

Looks like Bebe and Macheda are going to take South Africa by Storm !

    8)

  38. Sandeep1878 says:

    Cedars,

    Cheers buddy.

    Slim,

    no mate,

we have Rio – Jonesy – Smalling – Evans – Vidic,

we need 2 out of the 5 to be fit at all times..

I dont see us buying a CB anytime soon unless Rio is retiring..

It would be good, but i expect the young CBs to stay fit..

if Vidic is back, then we can bank on his fitness..Rio will be on and off..

We already have matured and ready to step CBs in the form of Evans and Smalling..

  39. Costas says:

    @Cedars

Ha, true! That’s the best way to get Ando’s weight down!

  40. 911_DEVIL says:

    19:00 kick off
    Yeah bring it on

    Steeling andos food haha.

  41. CedarsDevil says:

To be honest I do not like these pre season tours, all a silly marketing sham……..Historically we have also had our fair share of injuries in them as well

  42. Sandeep1878 says:

    King Eric,

we wanted a rant, but you popped up in the wrong thread pal ;)

    how are you buddy?

    ##

    Costas,

    wasup mate..

  43. Sandeep1878 says:

    Papii,

Looks like Bebe and Macheda are going to take South Africa by Storm !

Pal, you mean the real storm? ;)

do they both remind you of the Perfect storm? ;) :P

  44. slim says:

    Sandeep

Sorry mate I don’t quite trust Jones at cb
    Smalling is back up RB.
That leaves an increasingly injury prone Rio and Vific coming back from injury. That could go either way for him

  45. Love united says:

Hello Everyone on this site!!!!!!!! I am very good Can’t wait for the new season for united plus I can’t see Sir Alex Feugson buying in another great CB also I think Berovatov will be really miss for united for this season Plus I would like to see Sir Alex playing a 3-2-2 formating for this season cause i think Rooney and Littlepea will be playing up front and Young and Nani in the wings. I would love to see Anderson playing with Powell this season in the Midfield so far i think Paul will be to slow this season and in the back i would like to see Raf, Evans, Rio and Jones in the back. I think I would like to see Sir Alex buying a Midfield like Modic or toure from manchester city.

  46. 911_DEVIL says:

    @cedars
But there’s no better way of getting the boys fitter, the tours help on getting hem ready in short space of time, me think

  47. slim says:

    Sigh, damn phone

So who is left. J.Evans. last season the lad was fantastic. Worried any injuries I that department might cause havoc especially if it early on in the season.

  48. Sandeep1878 says:

    Slim,

buddy i think we have a formidable partnership between Evans/Smalling and Rio/Vidic.

you think we will need one more back up there?

may be a 27, 28 plus experienced CB?

  49. 911_DEVIL says:

How many pure central mids we hav on tour?

  50. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

    Sandeep

    :P

Bebe and Macheda will smash back doors in …. literally …fucking oafs  No door will be left open !

Anderson took out his platts and tried to keep an afro but Bebe ate the sides ;) He eats everything !

    Who’s out of the tour?
    DDG,Rafa,Jones,Vidic,Evra,Nani, Clevs,Giggs,Young,Rooney,Welbeck…

  51. 911_DEVIL says:

we have a full starting 11 left behind
    DDG
    Rafael – jones – vidic – evra

Nani- cleverly – giggs – young

    Rooney – welbeck

  52. Jeet says:

Does anyone get the feeling that we won’t be signing anyone else? :(

  53. CedarsDevil says:

    Jeet

I will happily chop my left, no wait make that my right nut if we sign anyone else……We do not fucking need any more players

  54. Jeet says:

Not even LB, or are you taking the piss as usual?

  55. Sandeep1878 says:

    Jeet,

I have been telling from 3 days,

we are done with transfer business mate..

    game over..

    laters ROM,

    cheers

  56. CedarsDevil says:

    911

A proper pre season in my opinion is a tough fitness program at Carrington coupled with 2 or 3 friendlies in Manchester…………..That should do it…………These tours do my head in, the players come back all wasted and tired from all the travelling

  57. CedarsDevil says:

    Jeet

Not taking the piss mate, not that I do not want any more signings, just my belief is that we will not be making any more

  58. 911_DEVIL says:

    @cedar
Fans around the world are eager to see the boys at their back ground, so it might not be good on fitness perspective
But it benefits the club massively, talking on marketing and on….
It gives chance for our young lads to prove hemselfs in some hostile conditions.

I heard the tickets for both games in south africa, sold out on its first week of sale
    So that’s pretty much exciting!!

We all are looking forward to this games
    They are all missive games.

Not that I’m disagreeing, yes the travelling are really tiring.

  59. Marq says:

Kagawa really looks like some pop star!

  60. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

Not personally attacking Bebe here, he is a footballer and not his fault United signed him for the sum of money we did. That said its just a complete waste of time him being involved. He will never be a first team player for Manchester United.

It was a punt that has not paid off and we should seek a favour back from Mr Mendez with how rich we have made him.

  61. 911_DEVIL says:

    Bebe isn’t that bad guys
To say ”he was a complete waste of time”
    Its really daft

Yes the price payed for him is too much…

  62. samuel - united WE stand says:

To be fair, none of us know how much was paid for bebe. I don’t believe FERGIE would sanction 7million for him. It might be against massive odds in terms of bebe making it but i’m willing to see him play one more time. Surely he must have improved in training or why would FERGIE take him?…….

  63. Marq says:

Better watch it, Bebe will oust Rooney next season! =p

  64. samuel - united WE stand says:

Since bebe signed, the daily fail have been onto him like a rash. Digging into his personal life and publishing articles to mock him. The media in england is amateur and full of cunts. They’ll hype twats like carroll up when clearly the world can see he is a terrible experiment of trying to make a footballer.

I know bebe was poor in the fa cup but the abuse he had and is still getting is ridiculous. FERGIE may have seen something in him and he should be allowed opportunities.

  65. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

    911_Devil

Its all about opinions mate and certainly isnt daft. I watched every game Bebe played for us live and without benig harsh he will never make it. Can you imagine not playing Nani, Valencia, Young for Bebe?

I think sometimes we have some blind faith, i like bebe he looks a nice kid, i am glad he has done well for himself from humble begnnings. Was 7 mil a wate of time and money for him, yes it completely was.

    Samuel

Fergie will be taking him to give the other lads a rest and window opportunity to get him back out on loan or sold. He has not played since his bad injury.

  66. goatinaunitedshirt says:

How much of an f-up is this Bebe character. I watched him play a handful of games and the only thing I really saw of him was he was prepared to have a go at goal from ridiculously tight angles. Admittedly they were on target but were never and would never beat a top class goal keeper.
Has anyone got any report or seen him play during his time in Turkey or was it completely ruined through injury.

  67. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

    Goat

    Completely ruined from injury mate

  68. 911_DEVIL says:

Whatever you say about bebe, its totally bias
We all haven’t seen how bad nor how good he’s

I’ve heard enough criticism of bebe, but when I tried to assess the reason for all criticism he’s enduring, its all rather out of touch

    @giggs12gerrard0
Please tell me why you think he’ll not make it?

  69. jay says:

At least 5 not including Powell and kagawa more than any other position

  70. goatinaunitedshirt says:

    Giggs12Gerrard0
what were the injuries. I must admit Ive been busy this past year and keeping tabs on the youngsters has taken a back seat.

  71. samuel - united WE stand says:

Giggs12 – i don’t think anyone will buy him off pre-season matches. You’ve mentioned his fee again, do we actually have any proof or are we going with what A.B.Us say?. Bebe is a gamble, a cheap gamble and not bought for 7million. If he improves, great. If not, his departure from the club will make no difference.

It would make me happy if bebe carves out a career here, if he does at another club then i’ll watch his career with keen interest but let’s see what he could do in pre season at least.

  72. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

    911-Devil

I say he will never make it at Manchester United not as a footballer. I say this because of what I have seen of him in the flesh mate to make my own judgement.

He is far to raw, his decision making is amateurish, he isnt really that skilful and cant defend, happy for him to change my mind but if Bebe was the calibre of player we are now saying is good enough then lets lower our expectations.

Just because SAF boight him doesnt mean he will come good, how many players have we bought much better than Bebe not to have make it.

  73. fergie is the boss says:

slim – I agree, I do feel this is what happens when the club fail to strengthen a weakened area which has festered for years in the midfield, and then when the defense is in need of perhaps a quality CB, we already find ourselves short in midfield and at the back. I hope jones and smallen can step up to the plate and go on to replace ferdinand and vidic at CB

  74. 911_DEVIL says:

    Samuel
    Wise words there
Unlike those who like to criticise our player
Even though they can’t seem to point one single reason for that.
    Let’s wait and see….

  75. MUFCJord says:

With only one senior defender in the squad, I can see us losing to Shanghai, Drogba is going to be quite he handful.

  76. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

    Samuel

ok fee aside mate i very much agree on what you have said. for me though we have a real opportunity to atatck Europe. We either waste time in players like Bebe or we crack on. I am loving the fact we have Powell (great talent), Petrucci looks like he is almost there and the rest of the young lads need exposure as you said on the other thread.

I do get pissed off with Bebe as we need better additions we can produce better in house. Brady is a much better player and we have just lost Park for 2m. This is my frustration and one i think is completely justified.

  77. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

    911_Devil

Mate its a fucking blog and I have told you my reasons so dont try be little my opinion. I have watched him live every fucking game he has played and I make my decision. I dont wank over players that are not good enough just because they play for Manchester United.

Why dont you tell me why he isnt what I have detailed above if yuo are the law on Bebe?

I will happily debate with anyone and tell you why but dont message other people trying to be little my opinion. That shit doesnt wash with me.

  78. 911_DEVIL says:

    Giggs12gerrard0
Everyone is entitled to their opinion
But in that case, I have heard enough

His poor background might have had played a role on his, let’s say, not soo pleasant showing on his first season at United…
Let’s give him this season to prove himself
I know he’ll come out good
Its just that, all eyes of the ABU were on him and everyone wishing him to fail but still, he’s scored some crucial goals.

He went on to score 6 times in 13 reserve appearances and netted in the league cup and champions league.

  79. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

    911

Mate opinions aside you have not told me one footballing rason why he will come good this year tey you had a go at me for not saying why i dont think he will. I have actually told you why i dont rate him. If you say you hear enough on a topical thread by the way mate then dont come on here? It is a blog thats what people are going to do mate!

I would be more than happy to have egg on my face and be proved wrong, just cant see it.

  80. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

ps – Not to be a cunt but his league cup goal if i remember rightly should that have been a own goal, or was it a cross that snuck in? His champions league goal was a decent strike against Bursaspor (if my memory serves me correct) was straight down the middle and any decent keeper should have saved it.

Again my beef is not with Bebe it is with what i periceive as a waste of signing when we have much better proven and unproven players in the squad.

  81. wayne says:

Bebe was signed from a recommendation by Carlos Queiroz also at the time Real Madrid were also interested. To judge the lad on a few appearences going from being homeless to playing for Utd in the space of a couple of months isn’t really fair,he should’ve never been involved in the first team at all.Not saying he’s going to make it but also can’t judge the lad based on what i’ve seen and would have to assume Utd still see something in him otherwise would have unloaded him already

  82. eric keane says:

    http://www.redmancunian.com/2012/07/16/manchester-united-fly-out-to-south-africa/

    More pics on here…

    Bebe looking quite svelte..

Cant wait to see blackett perform as also petrucci powell and tunni..

I think bebe was bought for his raw pace and power. His education has just begun 2 years back. He might not become a united level player but I’m sure he’ll do well for himself somewhere

  83. 911_DEVIL says:

    Okay mate
He’s bound to come good cause he’s all the requisites to become a top footballer
All is there to see, but I believe you have only seen a quarter of it…
So it doesn’t help explaining you in details cause you have your own reasons to come up with that…
All I can say is: let’s watch the pre-season matches
    Which starts on wednesday night

  84. eric keane says:

A report from bbc radio says that manchester united are in the later stages of a deal for lucas moura..
Anyone got an idea about this?

  85. eric keane says:

@911_devil : he’s got raw talent , but hasn’t been honed. Let’s hope he develops into a forward rather than a winger. Because he doesn’t have a place on our wings for another 5 years minimum.

  86. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

    Eric Keane

It looked promosing at the weekend but Sau Pauilo rejected a reported bid of 33million erous. I believe the scouting team are out there in force trying to thrash out a deal.

  87. samuel - united WE stand says:

Giggs12 – i understand what you mean but let’s be honest, bebe’s inclusion will not hinder united in their quest for success. I get he hasn’t done any noteworthy to justify why he is he was bought but i feel he should At least get a chance to play and perhaps repair his damaged reputation.

We have talented players in the youth and i know this team is not near the level of the 2008 edition but surely, we’re building towards that?. We have younger players with incredible potential, if we fill them with belief then we’ll benefit on the long run.

  88. denton davey says:

eric keane @ 14:30: “bebe was bought for his raw pace and power. His education has just begun 2 years back. He might not become a united level player but I’m sure he’ll do well for himself somewhere”

    That’s a reasonable suggestion. He’s raw AND has pace/power.

Educatiing him to be a top-class professional football player is a gamble but that’s exactly what took place in Didier Drogba’s career.

If Bebe can be that good then there will be a lot of people having humble pie for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

  89. eric keane says:

@giggs12gerrard0 : anything above 30 mil makes him a very risky buy..
No matter how good he is on a youtube clip, a scouting report suggested his decision making is suspect and work rate very less.. I guess those things will improve if/once he signs. However 33mil for a 19 year old is pretty insane..

  90. Jeet says:

“Don’t buy into the Moura rumours” would be my suggestion…nobody really knows, but my sense is its tabloid bollocks

  91. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

    Denton

Likewise if Bebe doesnt turn out like drogba, thats a bold statement!

    Samuel

Again mate dont disagree I think the team we aer building is heading towards that and just needs that 1 or 2 additions to make potential greatness.

    Eric Keane

Completely agree mate i was merely advising on what the reports are in terms of the addition. I dnot know anything about him to make jusdgement but it is certainly a lot of money.

I dont think we will buy another CM now, we have the old guard plus Clev and Powell to develop and still the possibility of Anderson.

  92. Cyril Sneer says:

33 million Euros seems a bit much and they want more. We could probably buy both Eriksen and Strootman for that, both of whom have experience of playing in Europe and have good potential.

    Meh.

  93. wayne says:

The whole transfer market is insane and the usual suspects always get involved in any high profile player, simple fact is Utd won’t pay the ridiculos transfer fees or wages that City,Chelsea and Real always will.In a way that’s a good thing means the player chooses Utd for different reasons other than money

  94. eric keane says:

@ giggs12gerrard0 : I think 33mil is an unreasonable amount for a 19 year old. No matter how much talent the kid has doesn’t make him an immediate world beater..
Also I read a scouting report online which stated moura’s weaknesses. Suspect decision making and low work rate. Now these things can be improved when/if he signs. It still makes him a risk at 33 mil.

@denton : I certainly believe with time and the right approach bebe can become a decent if not great forward..

  95. ididnotzeeit says:

    Paul Scholes – Legend
    Berbatov – Cool as Fuck
Anderson – New Hair Cut? Reverse Sampson theory? Perhaps the shorter locks will make him invincible?
    Kagawa – All Business
Hernendez – If I had a daughter, I’d welcome him into my family

The Reds are looking good – Preseason = Better than Nothing

  96. ididnotzeeit says:

I can’t see us splashing out 30+ million on a 19 year old when we’re balking at 30+ million for Modric.

I’m no math expert but that just doesn’t add up. Silly season rumors.

  97. wayne says:

Jeet there’s been confirmation that a bid was turned down so interest is legit mate

  98. wayne says:

Spurs are looking for closer to 40mill which is fucking stupid he’s not worth that

  99. eric keane says:

@cyril sneer : would love both eriksen and strootman.. But then what would we do with bright prospects from the academy such as petrucci lingard cole tunnicliffe etc.. Don’t think we’ll sign anyone. Maybe a left back. Baines or some unknown douche

  100. goatinaunitedshirt says:

    coomy

love the vest. I hark back to the days of looking like a railway worker, real style. Im gunna get my flat cap and whippet now. Jesus christ you would look like an amnesty international faggit.
Count me out. Grow up will you, we have already seen that the increase in corporate sponsorship is already drawing in more money than it did before that more than covers the cost of the interest payments on the loans.
If you want to know why Uniteds finances are not showing that massive increase. Corporate sponsorship up over 200% on pre Glazer days but profits only up around 40%. Thats because the government (labour government may I add that has a near 100% voting success in Manchester) decided on raising the income tax bracket for high end earners. This has meant that the United wage bill has clearly skyrocketed and it is that that has effected the revenue, not the interest payments.

The truth. Mancs vote in socialists every time without fail. The tory government today couldnt give a rats arse about labour controlled councils in the manchester area, and why should they. Glazers are american and manchester has always been historically anti yank. The Glazers take out of the club is on % of income less than dividend payouts were during the plc days.

Get a grip fellah, I realise there is sod all to do in life but join a more constructive club. Join a kennel club or motorcross club or something and enjoy life rather than spouting some out dated drivel and biggotry.

  101. wayne says:

something happening on the Baines front

    http://www.toffeeweb.com/season/12-13/rumour-mill/21869.html

  102. Marq says:

Correct me if I’m wrong, but apart from that strike from Powell, what else do we know about him that makes him rated higher than than Bebe? To me they are on the same level and starting point

  103. goatinaunitedshirt says:

    Cyril Sneer
With that attitude mate we will never get the new Ronaldo (brazillian) Ronaldhino, Messi, Romario, Batistuta, etc etc etc

  104. WillieRedNut says:

Wayne – That may be a fake account. Happens alot on Twitter.

  105. Cyril Sneer says:

@Eric Keane – I reckon United usually play enough games a year to give everyone a fair go, especially over the next couple of years where we will have people retiring (Giggs, Scholes) and maybe some moving on (Anderson?)

There’s also the likelihood that not all the young academy players will make it as “United quality”.

I’m not saying it will even remotely happen but the chance to buy two decent european prospects over one unproven Brazilian 19 year old is a no-brainer to me.

Goat – True mate, but we could buy the new Keano, Cruyff, Andy Townsend instead.

  106. wayne says:

Willie oh ok mate didn’t realize that

  107. goatinaunitedshirt says:

    Cyril Sneer

    Andy Townsend oooooooo lol.

  108. eric keane says:

@marq : people generally form their opinion on the written word. bebe has beeen maligned ever since he was signed. its different for powell. however powell has had footballing education at a decent academy. bebe has had no such thing. feel for the lad. hope he makes everyone eat their words.

  109. WillieRedNut says:

Wayne – He’s a shy type too and would have too much respect for Moyes to state his intentions on twitter.

  110. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

    Wayne

Given Fergie flew out this morning he wont be in talks with united, that will be a fake account.

  111. Gorse Hill Red says:

Does that not look like a crutch on the Anderson pic?

  112. eric keane says:

@cyril sneer : i hear you and agree too. however i feel sir alex will wait for a year before deciding which midfielders can make it here and buy accordingly next season.

i really hope we sign a left back. immediate promotion to the first team even if its as evra’s back up might be too much for a lad as young as blackett

  113. Diabolic says:

Finally i get to post something. been reading this post for a while and now feel i would like to add my two cents worth. I see there are alot of peverts, True reds and Bullshiters on here guess im finally home.

  114. WillieRedNut says:

Gorse Hill Red – That’s exactly what I thought lol. Injured already!

  115. 911_DEVIL says:

As I type, the 22 men manchester united squad who will start our pre-season tour are flying over to south africa as they get ready to face amazulu in durban on wednesday night

Personally, I love these pre-season tours and I enjoy watching the matches on MUTV. Yes, its true that the opposition is usually of a lower standard than we usually face when the season gets going ”’proper” but we play differently, too.

With the pressure to actually win secondary, the players gets to express themselves more freely and, as a result, we tend to look very tasty going forward, score a lot of goals, and play more adventurously.

I’m generally of the view that the way we started last season was a hangover (in a nice way) from the way we played in pre-season. However, fergie recognised that we might be able to get away playing in such a cavalier fashion against some opponents and on some day but to go through a season playing like that would undoubtedly lead us to come unstuck at some stage.

So, fergie reigned the players in a bit, got them to concentrate on the defence rather than offensive side of their game and the result was… We ended unstuck all over the place and ended the season pointless

So, I’ll be looking forward to this pre-season games with some relish as I hope to see the flamboyant, adventurous man utd again…. The manchester united that I fell in love with – manchester united playing the football that manchester united is famous for.

For the record, here are the players That have travelled for the tour.
Lindegaard, johnstone, amos, ferdinand, veseli, vermijil, wootton, blackett, carrick, valencia, anderson, scholes, powell, kagawa, ‘bebe’, tunniciffe, lingard, brady, petrucci, berbatov, macheda, chicharito.

As you can see, there are none of the player who took part in euro 2012 and there are some interesting inclusions.

New signing powell and kagawa will undoubtedly attract all the attentions and I’m looking forward to seeing them both in united shirts.

This is undoubtedly a big season for anderson and he will surely be eager to impress over the coming tour but there are a fair number of reserves in there who will all be wanting to put in a good showing and give fergie something to thing to think about when the proper thing gets underway.

Catch the first game on wednesday night on MUTV. I believe the kick-off time is 19:00 which is decent (and certainly makes a change from last summer when kick-off were around mid-nights)
    :D sorry a record breaker longitude of the post :D :) .

Didnt we have a half decent back up for Evra in Fabio. What is the deal there? Why do we want Baines unless we are packing off Evra. ?

  117. goatinaunitedshirt says:

Maybe the Glazers are doing a deal with the enemy to cut our allocation on merseyside to calm the unrest amongst the United fans by suffocating MUST members chances of watching United play specially as OT is out of bounds, lol. Bloody yanks!

  118. parryheid says:

    goatinaunitedshirt.

If that is the case then we are getting the shitty end of the stick.I’m thinking Evra cant possibly be as dire as last season again so am trusting him to return to form this season, must still get back up though.

  119. Hal says:

So is Baines on the way?

  120. Jeet says:

@Wayne: Confirmation from who? The sao paulo president who’s playing silly buggers talking of 80mil buyout clauses? To me, he sounds like a buffoon who’s taking United’s name to raise the price, and at the same time appease the supporters by sounding like a proper hardman who “won’t” let the club’s stars go.

FFS, 30 mil for a 19yr old brazilian (who’s good, by the way) who primarily plays as a right winger, without any central midfielder being bought in, will just about make my fucking day. I can’t believe Fergie would do that.

And since when have we sent scouting teams to thrash out deals? Also, the week the “delegation” went, the boy’s agent was apparently holidaying in the US. What next – wazza having a pint with him and sealing the deal?

I’ve been wrong many times in my life, so could be wrong again, but I seriously don’t see this happening. There may well be genuine interest from United, maybe a first refusal deal or something like that (he comes and trains with us for some time, all that shit, you know?), but not a signing this summer.

  121. King Eric says:

I will put my mortgage on it Powell will be in a different league to Bebe.

  122. King Eric says:

With Jeet. We will NOT spend 30 odd million Euro’s on a 19 year old . Won’t happen. Never was on in my opinion. Tim Vickery the South American Football expert says he hasn’t looked all that the last 12 months and is a HUGE gamble.

  123. goatinaunitedshirt says:

    parryheid
I dont think Evra was bad last year, where has that come from. I dont think we attacked as fluently down the left side as we maybe have done in previous years but thats because the play was generally focused down the right where the opposition tried to exploit the weekness of a string of youngsters and their insecurities (Rafael, Jones and Smalling). The ball just so happened to go down that side more often than not.
I have no worries about Evra, I was extatic to see him get chosen by Blanc. That will lift the lad. I thought it was all over for him after his exile and public rolicking. Good to see that bitter Clichey firmly in his fucking place.
I have no doubt Evra will be back to his best, getting more of the action when teams realise that Rafael, Jones and Smalling are just as capable as Evra on the left. Yes there were a few soft goals come in from the left but thats mainly because the left central defender Vidic was out for the year. I thought Evans filled in magnificently and in the all I was very happy with the defence. Hell even my dislike of Spanish Goal keepers got a whack in the teeth

  124. 911_DEVIL says:

    Yeah eric. :D
Powell will be well bellow bebe’s league
Here to hoping both succeed at united

  125. King Eric says:

    How’s tricks Goat?

  126. King Eric says:

From what I have seen of Powell, admittedly not much, he has a footballing brain. Can find space. pass. create and score fucking wonder goals. High hopes for this lad.

  127. FletchTHEMAN says:

    Thanks for the pics all!

eric keane, still not used to that new fansite. Newboys Kagawa and Powell looking ver GQ.
Ando looks like someone from the clubs more than a player, wish he would get it together.

  128. eric keane says:

@goat : tbf evra is one of the fittest players in our squad and hardly ever misses games , as a result fabio gets few games irrespective of how evra plays. this stunts fabio’s development hence the need for the loan.

also fabio might be played on the flanks at qpr. that’ll make him more versatile going forward..

  129. wayne says:

jeet Utd haven’t come out and denied reports,my understanding Gill is on holiday so sent Jim Lawlor and John Alexander can only go on what i read mate but think there is some truth to it

    Not too bad hows yourself.
Been in exile, lol. Been an eventful year either way, you?

  132. Robbo says:

A lot of speculation linking us with Erikson. Out of all the players we have been linked with this is one player I dont rate at all. Every game I have seen him play (not many mind you) he has been very disappointing.

I think we will have Baines by the end of the week, he will join the tour in Europe.

From what I have read re Moura , it seems we are still in negotiations with the Brazilians, hagling over a price. We offered 20m they want 30m. Could be on but I think to pricey for a player who is an attacking midfielder/ winger.
My greatest concern is for cover for Carrick.

  133. Jeet says:

A thought just struck me, and I’m left stunned…..

Giggsy has been playing in the prem since before Powell was born…

Sooo good if he hit the ground running and delivered and made all those shite hacks eat humble pie over the £7.5M SAF sanctioned to get him to us.
Also hope our twin Ninjas, Shinji and Ginger hit it off quickly.

  143. goatinaunitedshirt says:

I get that totally. Fabio needs games and he is such a mainstay in the clubs success but where is this talk of Baines coming from. What would be the point in bringing in another player to ultimately replace Evra and keep Fabio out on loan.
I rate Fabio highly and see him as the long term replacement for Evra

  151. samuel - united WE stand says:

How many of these swoop deals actually happen?. The moura deal seems crap paper talk and anderson has been given another chance, a chance he should grab and take advantage of by trying to avoid injuries, keep in good shape and be more consistent. He can’t afford to be the “This year could be your year” type of player, needs to step it up and show improvements that will gain the trusts of fans.

  152. CedarsDevil says:

Hope that couch is big enough, he does have a big ass

  153. samuel - united WE stand says:

James21 – the less we see of scholes and Giggs, the better for united. That would mean the likes of cleverly, anderson, tunni, petrucci have all stepped their game up. The likes of kagawa and powell would have settled in.

If they all hopefully fulfill their potential, that midfield issue could be solved.

  154. coomy says:

    GGMU

  155. slim says:

    Quick post
Rooney cost about the same when he was 18 so I have no beef with splashing out on the young Brazilian. Best – God bless his soul said the same about Roo- no chance or reason spending that much on a kid.I remember the article in the United magazine because it was my first ever editon on my first ever visit to OT

  156. CedarsDevil says:

Can someone please and for God’s sake explain to me what the fuck GGMU means?

  157. FletchTHEMAN says:

Agree that Tunnicliffe is a player. Will be interesting if he has a trajectory like Gibson and if gets some games this year. Then its down to whether he can push on. Same for Petrucci. He an Cleverley could really run a midfield if all the stars align, the stretchers stay away, and they all push on.

  158. samuel - united WE stand says:

Another player this tour will be useful for is macheda. Still living off that brilliant goal against villa. Will get games in pre season, he needs to perform and then bring that form into the league. We need to stop sticking him on the fucking wing and his attitude and workrate needs to improve. Kiko can score goals but that’s not enough, needs to add more. he needs to use his physic to be imposing and dominate defences. He can come good.

  159. Cyril Sneer says:

Just passing on a quick message for Zibbie.

He’s being going through some troubles in his family life and can’t post for a while, but he’ll be cheering the team on and wanted to send out the love to everyone here.

    Go Rooney!

  160. FletchTHEMAN says:

Tony, Right, Cole didn’t make the flight. Wonder if Cole was the 23rd man as it was reported that a 23man squad would travel. But the final list was 22.

I expect some of the other lads might make the latter matches. Vidic needs some games and Rooney is on one of the posters. Here is to hope.

The traveling squad is actually very interesting. Both new lads, and a ton of emerging juniors. Will be great to see them mix it up.

From my tally only 9 first team “regulars”, but this raises to 12 if you include Amos, Macheda and Bebe who have been kicking about the senior squad for a year or two.

    Seniors:
    Lindegaard
    Ferdinand
    Valencia
    Anderson
    Carrick
    Scholes
    Kagawa
    Berbatov
    Chicharito
    (Macheda, Bebe, Amos)

The rest will be stepping up from the reserves:
    Johnstone
    Veseli
    Vermijl
    Wootton
    Blackett
    Tunnicliffe
    Lingard
    Brady
    Petrucci
    Powell

Of these, I look to Veseli to get a look as a back up LB. Tunni, Petrucci and Powell will have the measure taken in midfield. Very interesting for all the juniors.

  161. CedarsDevil says:

    Go Zibbie!

  162. samuel - united WE stand says:

Any chance for robbie brady challenging for a place on the wing?. Left footer, creative e.t.c. I know united have nani, valencia and young but another home grown winger in brady would be great to see come true. We have had no left footed winger since Giggs retired from bombing up and down that side. I wonder how well people rate brady?

  163. slim says:

    Fitb
Exactly mate. People tend to underestimate how difficult it is for defenders, especially young ones to establish themselves.
Fuck sake I used to rip into Evans till last season.
Takes time. I just think its better to be safer than sorry.
Quite frankly Rio should have a back-up. But like others have mentioned it looks like SAF is putting faith in smalling. We’ ll have to wait and see

  164. WillieRedNut says:

  165. dannysoya LOVES SIAN MASSEY says:

Things I hope will happen on the tour. Get Tunnicliffe, Brady, Blackett some game time. Maybe tunnicliffe should even start a game. I think he is good enough to hold down a place in the first team. We’ve gotta start getting these kids in the big games or else how would they develop. Hopefully Bebe gets some time too. I still believe in him a little. :D

  180. goatinaunitedshirt says:

    FletchTHEMAN

Yeah Vidic is a must for the coming year even though Im sure we’ll survive for the most part domestically wthout him but in Europe we are screwed.
Personally I havent got a clue why England players should get a break from returning to club football early. They certainly dont train properly nor do the put in any effort during the matches. Its just a kick about in the park for that lazy entity, and that goes for our players as well. I suppose if you hang around shit your clothes start to smell. lol.

As for Eriksen I will be the first to say Im not a fan at all. I havent seen anything in his play to make me feel he would give anything to a club of Uniteds stature. I really hope that rumour is a smoke screen. As for Moura I personally cant say Ive seen anything more than youtube has to offer, he looks pretty handy but there seemed to be a few wayward passes timely edited from the footage. I have always been a champion of risking large sums of money by getting the next Brazilian wonder kid here before Barcelona or Real Madrid go on to dominate club football. Pissed off with that myself. Instead we spend exactly the same ammount of money on proven stars and still fail at times.

But I cant remember the last time United signed a player that was known by the press for such a long time in advance. Ronaldo was a shock signing, Andersson was, Nani was in a way because he signed anew deal with Sporting just before we got him or so the story goes, Berbatov was always on the cards but looked ever more unlikely untill he was surprisingly snapped at OT in the last minutes. Evra was a shock, Vidic a shock, Ferdinand a shock, Carrick was a relatively quick deal. If this Moura story lasts more than another day or two then you know its BS.

  181. Wakey says:

    @Giggs12Gerrard0

The important thing with Bebe though is he has the raw skill and you do see people with a raw talent but with little formal training coming good. There are a number of top sportsmen who haven’t made it in their chosen sports but have gone onto become world beaters because they have the raw skill.

Now Bebe perhaps has more obstacles than those switching sport as atleast they had a formal education in sport but with the raw talent he clearly has there is no reason that if he has the mental skills to put in the work and knuckle down then he has the ability to have a good career at a high level in football. Not saying this will be at United but somewhere .

We also see players who don’t set the world alight at youth level come good, look at Drogba. Players develop at different speeds or perhaps just don’t get the right opportunity to really develop at first.

After all while most things in football can be taught and driven into a player if they want to raw talent  is something you are either born with or you aren’t and if you are it’s already a massive advantage.

Certainly writing him off after just 5 first team games & 13 reserve games (with the majority being good performances) when you know his background is shortsighted

    @Cyrill

It will depend how much of that fee is newspaper talk (after all the same papers keep seemingly putting Andersons fee at £25mill when at the time it was said to be 17mill if all the top up clauses were activated) and how much of the €33mill is upfront. United do seem to like their topups unlike City or Chelsea who have to flash the upfront cash to get their players so even if it ends up at €33mill it will be a bargain if he does enough trigger all the clauses.

And I’m not sure we could get Eriksen and Strootman for that as Eriksens fee is being touted at £20mill rather than €20mill

    @ididnotzeeit
Remember that you need to take the currency being used into question. The Lucas fee is constantly being quoted in Euros in almost every media report. Modric fee is usually being stated in pounds most of the time.

And as Wayne said reports do suggest that while spurs may be willing to sell him to Real for £30mill they want more to sell him to a rival English team.

    @Marq
I would perhaps put Powell a little higher simply because while their experience before United is at a similar level  Powells had a better footballing education as Crewe’s academy is much better than the clubs Bebe has been at could offer. Bebe’s formal football education has only just started. I do however think Bebe  seems to have more tools to his trade if he can knuckle down

Always the man with a differing view or outlook to the mainstream Ill put my hat in the ring and say I dislike Rooney intensely and think he is the biggest problem at United at the moment. Im not going to say hes a shit player because thats evidently not totally true but I do wholeheartedly believe he is our Steven Gerrard.

  185. Utd4life says:

Fletch. “As for me, if it doen’t mean we can go out and buy lads we want” Mate, in all honesty, I do not think that UTD can compete with the likes of City and Chelsea in buying players. We can only attract players with our credentials i.e., our ability to win trophies, produce great players, our rich history and the chance to play for one of the greatest managers the sport has ever seen. On the other hand, the likes of City and Chelsea have only got money to attract players and sometimes players choose money over everything else.
“and keep juniors we want”- However, the club should try it’s best to keep the best players as long as possible. If this thing about Welbeck’s contract dispute is true then I hope the club does everything in it’s power to keep him because that lad is gonna be a star in the future.

my view is that they are playing for the biggest club in the world..

Millions watch them, they are idols of any young footballer..

its time they resolved the differences and play as a unit..

Manchester United is always about the unity..

name in the front first than the back and the rest all takes back stage..

him and Nani have to sort the issues if there are any and they have to play with happiness..

thye are well paid, they play for the best club, they have the best fans supporting them when they dont play well or when their off the pitch life is in trouble..

scoring goals and winning points is not enough to win us back..

play with happiness and love, otherwise force a move..

    as every RED says,

Manchester United will move on, with great players or not..

pride, passion, respect and love matters for us..

The most amazing thing …… was that you actually read the list

Had to go back to see what you were on about.

It is a strange list and proves that quality isn’t necessarily what breeds business success:

Of the list, I think the LA Dodgers are actually one of the worse teams in Baseball (thought I wouldn’t know). And the most successful team in world footy of the last 4 years only comes up 8th. Go figure?!

    #1 Manchester United ($2.23 billion)
    #2 Real Madrid ($1.88 billion)
#3 New York Yankees ($1.85 billion)
    #3 Dallas Cowboys ($1.85 billion)
    #5 Washington Redskins ($1.56 billion)
#6 Los Angeles Dodgers ($1.4 billion)
#6 New England Patriots ($1.4 billion)
    #8 Barcelona ($1.31 billion)#9 New York Giants ($1.3 billion)
#9 New York Giants ($1.3 billion)
    #10 Arsenal ($1.29 billion)
    #11 Bayern Munich ($1.23 billion)

In US/north American sports there are a few really big markets and then there are a few that have had success due to the way in which American sports deal out players through a draft from college sports that gives the worst team the best player. All to even things out. So whereas a major market (LA) maybe down on their luck for a bit and not particularly successfual they are a huge sporting center. The LA Kings ice hockey team won the stanley cup this year and pushed through by a good team but more importantly the ability to attract players through free agency. New York is much the same.

Barcelona is a giant and attracts alot of love from all over the latin world but realisticly doesnt exactly sit in an economic rich zone. Just imagine how small Barcelona and MAdrid would be in comparison to what they are now if they didnt have such a strangle hold on the tv rights. They will however always have the strangle hold as traditionally they are the biggest teams in Spain and have a traditional following in south America. Very few new traditions from spain make any impact on South America nowadays as they have become economic and football forces in their own right. You could say Arsenal are on the up and Barcelona inevitably are on the way down as they have no new markets to really jump into.

  220. eric keane says:

    re : sportswitness.ning.com

This is an odd one, you often get former chairmen of continental clubs talking about transfer targets but it’s not something which happens often with England’s big clubs. Several outlets in Italy are claiming that Manchester United ‘Honourary Life President’ Martin Edwards has spoken about the club’s interest in Brazilian wonder-kid Lucas Moura.
Martin Edwards was chairman of the Old Trafford club until 2002 and left after having held the position for more than 20 years, he was given the largely meaningless title following his exit. Edwards had a mixed reputation amongst supporters and had been involved in controversial claims but he carried a lot of goodwill because his father, Louis, was more highly thought of when he held the same position.
Edwards is claimed, by Calciosport and others, to have spoken to the Italian version of Sky Sports News and said “Players move from one team to another with ease. Football has become this, you only need so much money. Lucas at Manchester United? Difficult to comment. I can only say that we are very interested and I hope that the deal is completed as soon as possible.”
Quite why the Italian media have contacted Edwards only they know but the press there do contact agents and club officials more freely and ask for quotes on transfer situations, much more so than happens in this country. It does still seem odd that Edwards would so freely talk about Manchester United transfer targets.

    this is plain weird

@jesmonta, Smalling was injured in england training for the EUROs, seems a concern. Evans seems to be still struggling from last season. Don’t know if he is back to training. Vidic is training, but was announced some time ago that he would not travel to Africa and would work on strength training at Carrington. The real surprise is Larnell Cole as the youngster just signed a new 3 year deal.

  236. eric keane says:

@jesmonta : don’t feel anyone apart from maybe brady and vermijil will be loaned out. if we sign a midfielder then i can see either cole or lingard go out on loan, else we need them, even if it is for CC games.. they’ll get great experience by training with the first team and maybe stepping up

as for pre-season —- i would never have got the chance to see united play had they not toured asia… so im pretty glad they tour.. its a brand building exercise and not really about much else..
if you see the numbers fletchtheman posted you’ll realise that the manchester united brand is still going strong.. despite a season without trophies and having the money sucked out of our club. .
that is only due to such pre-season tours and all the other sporsors we garner from it.

  242. United Till I Die says:

Ha, Bebe is in that photo sitting in front of Anderson. Not surprised he’s still a United player but really didn’t expect him to play pre-season. Last I heard he returned to Turkey after OT treatment and was banned with 2 others for clubbing past bed time Lol.

Nice seeing supporters behind him tho, and its not delusion either the ABU narrative just sounds daft. Fergies been hands on with this lad for how many years now? Fair enough Fergies getting on but the lads right there in his face ffs I trust our manager can spot a dud?

No surprises its under reported but United didn’t expect Bebe to miraculously become Nani. His senior debuts at United were only rewards for back to back goals / assists in the Reserves. His first season aged 19 was solid considering he’s a flippin Street Footballer.

Powell has a much bigger chance of games, just look at his 55 apps last season thats more than Bebe’s whole career. United always knew he needed time thats why he was praised for playing in Turkey so soon. Even after his big injury Bebe is still ahead of schedule.

Tbh everybody needs to chill the fuck out! I doubt we paid 7m its probably half that plus add ons. Park and now Kagawa are stigmatised regarding shirt sales but im sure nobody is suggesting Bebe is a mere ploy to shift United bedsheets in Cape Verde?

Face it fellas – if he’s still here its on merit. Kiko Powell and Kagawa are the ones im looking forward to seeing but Bebe needs the Tour more. He’ll probably go on loan before Everton but if he performs this pre-season I wouldn’t be surprised if he stayed either.

    Laters RoM.

  243. FletchTHEMAN says:

Anyone know anything about this youngster we signed

  244. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

Bebe is still here because he is on a contract you can’t just sack him. If he was a street footballer why the fuck woukd Fergie loan him out. If he was a developer then why didn’t he stay and develop with us. What benefit would he have going to Turkey. How would that develop him? How would that help him progress in England?
How is he ahead of schedule please someone enlighten me? Fergie can spot a dud and he never had chance to spot this one as he went off a scouts report. I am generally at a loss with how people can’t see that!

Fergie knows he got this one wrong hence him going to Turkey. No Fergie has to either try and develop him, let his contract run it’s course, or sell him.

Face it fellas we are unable to sell him and it is Fergie’s biggest transfer disaster.

  245. Denton Davey says:

Giggs12 @ 21:55: “What benefit would he have going to Turkey.”

Besiktas has a clutch of Portuguese players and a Portuguese coach so I reckon that SAF thought it would be a good environment in which to introduce him to the demands of professionalism. Didn’t seem to work – the coach sacked him for too much partying, according to news reports – around the time his knee got injured.

  246. Denton Davey says:

Giggs12 @ 21:55: “Face it fellas we are unable to sell him and it is Fergie’s biggest transfer disaster.”

I doubt that – we don’t know what was paid up=front AND it’s a stretch to say that he was a bigger “disaster” than Dong or Manucho or Obertan or that skinny French guy David ??? who had a cup of coffee and was sent packing. Face it – there have been a fair-few “mistakes” as SAF has trawled the bottom of the market looking for value. Besides, maybe Bebe will evolve …. maybe, eh ? We don’t know yet – and “it ain’t over ’til it’s over”.

  247. FletchTHEMAN says:

Giggs12, Something is definitely ott with the signings from Portugal. Both Nani and Bebe signed huge contracts (comparatively) just before United bought them, but no questions asked.

Agents still have questions being asked 2 years on in the case of Bebe. I think Fergie has been done a disservice in both cases.

Be careful he doesnt get used to baby blue now. lol. You know the youth of today – bleeding glorey hunters.

I took time out of here as I was no longer enjoying it. Im a sociable lad and have grown up round pub (not bar or nightclub) culture all my life and I thought it would be the same talking on here. It seems without emoticons people have lost the ability to crack a joke or generally know how to have a laugh. I suppose I should have guessed that a blog like this involving people from all over the globe with diferent hang ups talking like you would to your mates isnt the done thing. I’ll keep my comments strictly football now and will try my hardest to cut out any jokes or language that some little fag will see inapropriate (ooops there I go again).
I love this site and more importantly I love manchester united I just wish that there were more on here, new ideas and points of view from around the globe instead of the very few that have in my view destroyed the original banter on here with talk of weather girls tits and bbq’s and shiting on anyone new that comes in. 690 million fans and we have arguably 6 on here that speak for us all.

It would be nice if we could have seperate chat rooms where we could have a pub like environment where people who have a sense of humour can chat and the touchyfags can be in a different room.

  250. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

    Denton

Why not loan him back to a Portuguese side even the team we bought him from who incidentally he had never even played for. How is it a stretch to say he isn’t one of the biggest? SAF even had to come out and say he had never even seen him play.

No matter how much some will support a player no matter what I’m not having that anyone thinks this kid is a united first teamer. Would city give Bebe a chance would they fuck. Let’s just hope he comes good whilst since we bought him city have bought Aguerro, dzeko, balottelli, Silva, toure, nasri etc etc are we not Manchester united or are we Bolton. Let’s just admit it was a mistake and move on. Sorry for pissing people off on this but there is no way in my life will Bebe make it at OT.

  251. goatinaunitedshirt says:

    FletchTHEMAN

I sometimes wonder about the swings in which country a team tries to pick up players from. Is it purely commercial driven or do things come in waves.
As soon as Ronaldo and potrtugal do well and get to a final and knock out England theres a huge influx of portugese. Everyone has to have one, portugese manager, the next Ronaldo, the next Nani even portugese hard men midfielders? The spain becomes succesful and Silva this, mata, that, DeGea this etc etc etc Then there was the German craze of Ozil this Muller that (doesnt seem that good now) Schweinsteiger this Lahm that.
Im just thankful England didnt do well or we would be wooing after all of Liverpools gems, lol

  252. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

    Goat

It’s true that it becomes the must have craze.

  253. Fred says:

FletchTM, Giggs12Gerrard0 & Denton Davey – David De Gea also ditched his original agent for Jorge Mendes just prior to signing for us, just like Nani and Bebe did. Very rum imo.

As for Besiktas’s high number of Portuguese players, we can be more specific and say the Turkish club has a remarkably high number of Jorge Mendes clients in their squad. Surely it was no coincidence that they were the ones to take Bebe off our hands.

  254. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

    Fred

Nice insight mate I didn’t know that

  255. Mikekelly12 says:

    Evening all
Just been flickin through the posts… Bebe is fucking trousers!!! How anybody can see anything positive in this lad must work for Christian Aid!!!

  256. Wakey says:

    @Giggs12Gerrard0

Again it depends how you classify better. He has more raw ability than Cole and Brady but Cole and Brady are more refined as they are further along in their football education.

It ultimately all comes down to can he catch up in the footballing education stakes because if he can I’m pretty confident he will do more in football than Brady & Cole.

    @FletchTHEMAN

With Bebe I think it’s simply the case that others started to take an interest. I’m sure everyone taking an interest would have wanted to wait atleast a year before making a move to get a better idea of his development. It was 7mill most of which is supposedly conditional so it was worth taking the risk rather than get in a bidding war a year later

  257. FletchTHEMAN says:

    fred/ Giggs/ Davey,
Carlos Queiroz recommended Nani and Bebe. Always thought he orchestrated Ronaldo move as well.
1999 gave Carlos alot of credit at Banco MUFC in my view. Think he has been cashing in chips on a regular basis since then.

  258. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

    Mike

Saved my sanity for the night mate, I thought I was alone.

  259. FletchTHEMAN says:

Wakey, Cheers mate, Agree 100%. But don’t think we would have gone for it sight unseen from just anyone. Carlos Queiroz had his hands all over this Bebe. ;)

The change of agents and the 4x new contract to increase our costs?! I can still smell the stench of that one.

  260. NotoriousRedDevil says:

Bebe – was thinking about where he was the other day. So he’s going on tour, means nothing so did Dong look how that turned out.

Having seen Bebe play live on more than one occasion for us, it will amaze me if he plays for us again. He’s had more starts than players who were a lot better than him. How anyone can get the ball as high as the North Stand from a cross and that on a consistent basis is shocking, especially at this level.

As Giggs12Gerrard0 stated on the strikers/players cit-eh bought, in that same time we signed Owen, Bebe, Diouf and Hernandez. All gambles and only one paid off even though I still think Diouf could have been a squad member.

We seem to be willing to spend £7 million or so on unproven talent who may turn out to be gems. I have no problem with that 1 out of 4 isn’t bad. Cut our losses and move on, even if I think we should have spent the money elsewhere on at least one of those occasions.

  261. Fred says:

Fletch – want to take a wild guess as to who Queiroz’s agent is?

  262. United Till I Die says:

@Denton – Bebe was injured playing for Portugal U-21 last August. He reported back to United for treatment then returned to Turkey in March this year. He was banned for clubbing in April.

@Giggs12 – So what exactly are you saying, Bebe was called up to Portugal U-21 to spare Ferguson’s blushes? Call me crazy but if Bebe is good enough to play for his national youth team and score a winning goal in qualifying I think its fair to say the young lad is no fucking dud.

Unless of course Alex Ferguson and the Portuguese FA are all in cahoots?

  263. Fred says:

I’m not really arsed about Bebe. If he hadn’t got injured last season he’d have been sold to Mendes FC, sorry, Besiktas as soon as this transfer window opened. He gave me some great laughs in his short stint at United, for which I’ll be eternally grateful. I wish him all the best, sincerely.

  264. Mikekelly12 says:

    Wakey
I very much doubt Bebe will ever start a bidding war! Are we talking about Bebe the footballer or Bebe the womens clothing brand?

  265. United Till I Die says:

    @RoM

Btw so what if Fergie hadn’t seen him play?

If you take Daily Mail as gospel you’d think Bebe was the first and only player to ever arrive like that. But where was the “media outcry” when Sandro was signed by Spurs for a few million without Arry knowing? Face it, ABU journo’s saw Bebe as a United story that will run and run and run, even though United said from the beginning that Bebe is a work in progress.

Funny how closely some of you are echoing the tabloids on this one. I’ve never heard of any player being written off so authoritatively in my whole fucking life. 7 games for United, 6 games for Portugal, and 3 competitive goals since we signed him – but forget all that lads – Bebe is a complete and utter write off who will never ever enjoy a top flight career anywhere, ever.

Yeah and the fucking rest Lol. Can’t you lot at least wait till AFTER the tour to start talking shit / pronouncing judgement on who doesn’t have a future in football? In Alex I trust fellas. Schadenfraude or what?

    UTID – laters.

  266. samuel - united WE stand says:

We have not spent 7million on bebe. Why would FERGIE splash out that much on a player from the portuguese third division? You’re only basing this unproven claims on the crap the english media have spouted.

I don’t understand the aggro towards the portuguese. His presence does not hinder the club, he’s a cheap fucking gamble that probably won’t pay off or may do if FERGIE still believes he can. When bebe signed, anyone expecting him to drag united to a title is naive. FERGIE decided to take a risk like he has done throughout his career. Has failed at time but largely, he’s been successful. People need to let this bebe thing go.

  267. Mikekelly12 says:

    Samuel
I haven’t got issues with the fee, whatever it was, with Sir Alex or the fact he’d never seen him. I just think he’s not very good at football, end of.
    UTID
Darius Vassell scored 5 or 6 times for England, I think he’s pretty shit as well. I wouldn’t say representing Portugal at u19 level isn’t going to change my opinion of a player.

  268. samuel - united WE stand says:

I’m not one to be accused of having red tinted glasses on. I wouldn’t declare bebe will somehow become a brilliant player as by judging his few appearances, he hasn’t looked up to scratch but i feel he should be given another opportunity and if he fails then he’ll find another club to re-ignite his career.

To me, bebe is not a flop. Why? because i never expected much from him. He can’t be a waste of coaches time, he’s not exactly the only player getting all the attention. If any other united player blames the presence of bebe for not fulfilling their potential then they need their mentality re-evaluated.

  269. samuel - united WE stand says:

Mikekelly – i couldn’t possibly defend bebe on that basis as his appearances showed he’s far from what is needed at the top level. He looked raw, confused and out of sorts but that was a season or two ago, maybe he has shown improvements that the coaches have seen. Highly unlikely i know but this pre season will show where bebe currently is. If he hasn’t developed then united should accept the losses. He’s a cheap gamble after all, we don’t need to weep and cast him aside like a dog with rabies. I’ll wish bebe good luck at whatever club picks him up.

I remember the unveiling press conference with both he and Pea sat at either hand of SAF.Whilst the Mexican smiled and chatted away freely in understandable English,Bebe peered into the cameras brooding and withdrawn. It was clear it would take more than a season for the Homeless World Cup star to grasp the language let alone acclimatise to wintry Manchester.Yet in his eyes I could see the pride of having bn chosen to wear the most treasured jersey in world sport.Whilst the condescending eyes of a surprised world glared fixedly at him,he held his peace content to let SAF usher him into the limelight.None of us Reds can claim to know the actual permutations behind his transfer nor his price yet, suffice to say that his stats far outshine those of Carroll and Downing who were homegrown, costlier and older than he is.He desperately tried to score in his initial appearances to win over fans to his side and it showed in his ballooned shots at goal and awkwardness.Undeterred,he began making passes to teammates in search of assists.I remember Wes’ goal and how he celebrated with him along with JOS as if it were his. Before long he got his first goal.We all know the rest.I was watching brazilian futsal and wondering how non-portuguese speaking members of the team could understand the staccato instructions being dished out by the coach in real time let alone follow them. What I’m trying to say is most British lads no matter how good they are would suffer on their initial exposure to non-english speaking leagues. This must be Bebe’s season.Get behind him Reds!

Apologies.Seems I’m still not able to fix this double post setting.Bear with me.

  273. WillieRedNut says:

To be fair, people have give constructive views on why they think Bebe won’t make the grade at United. No one hates the lad. And we all hope he makes us eats our own words. Trouble is, I heard the same stuff about Obertan and Diouf. They were sold in the end. Good luck to the lad anyway. I really do hope he makes some sort of impression in a Red shirt. Bloody hard that, though. The shirt can weigh heavy for some players. The point about the fee, and the papers take on him, we should discard both. Players don’t have any say on the fee. That’s dictated by the clubs. You’d also have to be a thick cunt to listen to any fucking paper’s opinion on players.

  274. Dean-Strauss says:

Well, then, let’s get it started……

    Sell/keep/loan/buy/nothanks

If I were SAF, I would:
    Berba: sell
    Andeson: keep
    Bebe: loan
    Nani: keep
    Macheda: sell
    Fletcher: cure
    Baines: buy
    Lucas: buy
    Eriksen: no thanks
    RVP: bitch slap

    Just one man’s opinion.

  275. Phil Jones' Birdshit Streaks says:

Make the pictures a bit smaller, so I definitely can’t see. Thanks

  276. xol says:

I’ve also seen Bebe live but I think he was miming

  277. xol says:

Willie I agree it’s too early and however fans feel about him now, nobody expected an immediate impact. It just requires patience. His inclusion is a surprise but it’ll give the boss a chance to assess him. I reckon sending him away had something to do with immaturity (mobile phone texting during a game, erm ‘unique’ goal celebrations etc). He’s now a year older, has spent time away from the group in a foreign country so is a little more experienced but his progress on the pitch obviously took a knock with the injury.

  278. xol says:

If he did cost 7m, that’s peanuts compared to the debt introduced by the unfit and unproper owners who couldn’t afford to buy us. Debt debt debt. But it’s ok because they’re the only people on the planet who know how to sell the Manchester United brand and we’d be fucked without them because everyone would suddenly and magically forget who man United are.

  279. JC says:

To be honest Willie I’ve thought Bebe had a better shot at making it than Obertan. And again to be fair Diouf has looked pretty good at Hannover (get a lot of Bundesliga on GolTV over here lol) since the move, he may have turned out at United with more time and less strikers ahead of him or maybe not but he’s definitely developing where he’s at with more playing time. I can see both sides of the Bebe argument (and depending on my mood agree with both too Ha!), but as long as he’s still in the shirt and getting time to prove something even if it is just in the preseason atm, why not give him the benefit of the doubt. My God I’d love to see the looks on the faces of the English press and read the stories if he actually did somehow make it, maybe that’s enough by itself to give him some more time.

  280. denton davey says:

Giggs12 @ 22:18: “Why not loan him back to a Portuguese side even the team we bought him from”

If the guy has any real potential then I’d want to loan him to an “championship” side on the proviso that he gets LOTS of playing time – he will need to learn English so sending him back to Portugal wouldn’t do him any favours in that regard.

  281. denton davey says:

Fred @ 22:32: “Turkish club has a remarkably high number of Jorge Mendes clients in their squad. Surely it was no coincidence that they were the ones to take Bebe off our hands.”

No coincidence, for sure. You scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours – and like that.

  282. 911_DEVIL says:

People are really out of their arse…
If one could explain me of why they think bebe is a flop I’m sure as hell they wouldn’t find a single reason to save their lives
This giggs12 dude might have some issues with street kids
The guy is a promising lad
I’m sure nani at his age was even worse.
    Enough with this bebe hatreds.

I’m only waiting for the op to make you eat humble pies, and sure he will, that will not take longer
Only a matter of hours, he’s a faster progresser
Sometimes I get this intuition that people get pleasure from criticising united players
Now that your scapegoat carrick is doing well for both himself the club you jumped the bandwagon to bebe.

  283. RedBorneo says:

Guys.. Do you know about Reece Brown..? How good he is..? i hope he is better than he brother Wes.

  288. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

    911

“Got something against street kids,” I just don’t rate him you bell end u have said he is a nice kid its nothing to do with him as a person.
Scape goat of Carrick come to a game and here me sing for the lad. I get behind the lads more than anyone. Fucking fans on their high horse I support everyone in the shirt bollox. Of course we fucking do we support Manchester United not an in individual.

Dont judge my character because I don’t rate one player. Look back at any game united lost and see who the biggest optimist is. Look back to when Chelsea were 3 up and see my posts on here. I follow the boys all over and spend my hard earned cash so I think if I want to say Bebe is wank I’m more than entitled.

Dog shit fans like you make annoy the fuck out of me. Do fuck all to support your team then try and take the high ground because you rate a player that quite clearly will never be good enough to make it. Better than Nani at his age talking bollocks. I hate fucking Liverpool but better than Carrol and Downing are you for real.

By the way this Giggs12 fella has been posting on here for years and goes every game. I have even met loads of lads on here and sorted out countless tickets home and away. Even sorted out devil310 from.California. I don’t think I’m a bad fan do you.

  289. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

Also look at how I dont even support England due to the treatment of united players. I’m proper united pal and you couldn’t have pissed me off more with your posts about my opinion on Bebe. Key message there is my opinion.

I won’t ever again justify my support for united but not having some clown make comments like that. Fucking joker

  290. Balaji Sivaraman says:

Giggs12, LOL! I cannot believe you typed all that out. Look mate, you know you’re a United supporter, most of us here know you’re die-hard, I don’t see why you need to waste your energy because somebody thinks you’re not a proper United supporter. Ignorance is bliss mate, let people post whatever nonsense they want.

As for Bebe, I was having the same discussion last year. I really hope the lad does come good because that would be some success story if it did. That would be better than both Goal movies put together. However, it is going to be really difficult and I still don’t know what Sir Alex thinks of the lad. We’ll see in the coming year whether he stays or goes.

  291. one two says:

    @ROM
In my opinion, i think the team don’t need any more signings.Since we have shinji and cleverly ##hope he is not injury prone## it will surely make a balanced dynamic side.If by gods grace anderson is more motivated then we can have three man midfield of shinji-clev-anderson with the ever present MC16.

The only concerned area is the back up for evra bcoz am sure he will struggle against lennon. And i don’t want us to sign baines since that can block fabio’s entry to the team next year.

Speaking about CM..i think AY can do a job in case bcoz he is good on ball.

What makes me so excited about this season is the assist shinji provides to the likes of hernandes/welbeck and they finish it in style. For this to happen we must revert back to the 4-5-1/4-33 of the golden 2008 season.Hope for the best.

    My team for 2012/13
    DDG
    raf- evans-vidic—evra
    clev–MC–ander
    nani—–rooney—-shinji

With this team we can surely surpass tiki-taka…no way barca are going to bypass a midfield of clev/MC/anderson with the added support from rooney.Bring on Europe. We will conquer it.GGMU

  292. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

    Belaji

I know mate I need to chill but was seething by the comment about street kids like I’m some bigot.

  293. Utd4life says:

I see that the Bebe debate has been done to death so I won’t add anything more than just say that I hope the lad has a decent career elsewhere if he does not make it at UTD. Though you have to wonder why the Gaffer picked him instead of a talented lad like Cole if he (Gaffer) did not think he has improved?

  294. Jeet says:

Great news at the presser. Vidic and Smalling coming along. Vidic might be ready for Everton.

  311. FletchTHEMAN says:

Sorry at LB Brady might back up Evra. Cheers

  312. Costas says:

Cheers Fletch. Evans will be out for a bit longer than those two and that’s a bit sad. HOpefully he will be ready for the games after the international break in September.

As for Brady, haven’t see him in action but as I understand, we will do a Richardson with him and convert him from a left winger to a left back. Something tells me the Baines thing isn’t happening. I am willing to live with that if the money intended for him goes to a CM, but really, say Evra picks up an injury. Is Brady supposed to deputise for him? What if we have a game at City or Chelsea? Same for Blackett. Not doubting that they are talented boys, but it’s too soon for them.

  313. samuel - united WE stand says:

If Giggs12 doesn’t rate a player or not as highly then he reserves the right to express. He’s a great contributor around here. Debates can be had without flinging abuse.

Personally, i neither rate nor think bebe is completely useless. I’m in the middle, i’m willing to see bebe given another opportunity to fix his reputation. All i know is, the scouts must have seen something in him that is tempting enough to gamble on. Yeah, FERGIE didn’t watch him personally but isn’t that why he has trusted scouts?.

I’ll form a conclusion after bebe has been given his own fair opportunities like anyone else. It’s been two years since his awful display, some improvements must be showing in his game surely?.

Let’s be honest, since the day bebe signed, the amateur media bastards have been on to him. The daily-fail made it a personal agenda, they dug into his personal and private life like cunts with no class. They goaded and mocked the idea of a player coming from his background and then some how making it as clearly, that would expose england as having a lot of spoilt bastards who had everything their own way. They harassed and pursued a player probably suffering from a low in confidence. It’s pathetic and sad.

When united signed bebe, it was clear that he’d need more coaching to refine his rawness, he needed more than enough time. Why some had or have expectations of him is baffling. He wasn’t bought to be an instant hit, perhaps he has improved in training after the injury lay off. We’ll never know until he gets on the pitch.

After a season or more and if he still hasn’t shown much improvements, FERGIE will find him a club to continue but for now, he should be given an opportunity.

  314. samuel - united WE stand says:

Fletch – squares in round holes again. Brady is a winger, he should be utilised in that role in order to impress. United have tyler blackett, if we aren’t going to use him then what’s the point of taking him?. He’s tremendously talented and even at his age, he could fight for a place with evra. I remember rafael making his debut at that age or thereabouts and now, he’s a regular.

Of course i’m not expecting wonders from tyler or the other younger players but they should get chances to show what they can do.

  315. Balaji Sivaraman says:

Sandy, LOL! My name has been twisted so much on here that even I don’t know what it is. I remember Dave suggesting a list of twisted names that I could use. Maybe I should get started with that.

  322. WillieRedNut says:

JC – Yeah, Diouf’s scored a few goals over there, but far from making it just yet. Also, I can only judge what he’s done at United. He looked a decent player. Maybe not United quality though. As I said in a previous post, these lads aren’t bad players. There’s different pressures at our club, than at other clubs. A certain level of performance is expected. Better players at United makes it tough for anyone breaking through. As for Obertan? Same applies. He had his moments in a Red shirt. Early promise soon faded. Let me say this though, the likes of Obertan, diouf and Bebe are worth a punt by United, just in case they are the real deal. Not like the club paid huge sums for them. In the off chance you get another Ronaldo, it is worth taking a risk. No risk, no reward…

Im not saying he’ll be a world beater – im not even saying he’s destined to make it at United. All im saying is the appraisal of Bebe is disproportionate to reality, but it IS proportionate to the bollocks written in the press about him.

    - make sense?

And before anybody has a heart attack wasn’t that long ago Evans was labelled a dud and mistake by wise old journo’s and their flock of sheep-in-United-clothing.

Some haven’t been good enough and we’re all entitled to our opinions, but don’t expect to insult a United player on RoM without incident just because “everybody knows” he’s shit. No we fucking don’t.

I remember when “everybody knew” Ronaldo was too shit for our famous shirt and look how that turned out. Now Ronaldo’s “too good” for our Club because he’s the best player in the fucking world and we can’t afford him.

When he was a skinny kid doing step overs what made half of you think you knew better than Fergie?

End of the day the most important opinion is the Manager’s, and on this issue Bebe has been selected to go on Tour. Thats where we are now fellas, so how about supporting ALL our players on pre-season and keeping your Schadenfruade in check? At least till after the Tour ffs….

You lot haven’t seen Bebe kick a ball in over a year but you’re all convinced he’s no good and stands no chance? If you honestly can’t see how blinkered and redundant that sounds how about just enjoying the fucking Tour and supporting EVERYBODY selected by Sir Ferguson?

Are you inept at disseminating information. There is a big fucking difference between not rating a player and supporting him. I will support who ever wears the shirt but I won’t wax lyrical about someone on here because it upsets the wankfest.

I will say what I fucking want about about a player, I debated but come on swearing and belittling my opinion does fuck all to change my mind.

I never boo a player and never have a go at one at a game but on a blog I will say what I like.

Also how is it because I don’t rate one player I all of a sudden despise Evans and Carrick. I’m as passionate as they come pal read the posts in context. You can say all you want about Bebe and the press I make my mind up on watching him in games. Live games I may add. I watch the first team and the ressies live so feel very comfortable in my assessment. Disagree all you like but put it context and Debate you don’t need to be a dick.

Last thing I want is to belittle or cause distress to anybody on here

@daemondada – just out of interest, did you assume my post at 14:33 was solely directed at Giggs12 or did you assume my post was a general post for the entire thread?

Willing to wind it in and apologies if it wasn’t addressed to me. I read it as though it was given there was only really me voicing my strong opinion on Bebe.

I’m not emotionally stressed by the blog I was pissed off by told what I can and can’t think I find it amusing how some will not allow to rant about player.

Not willing to that it is I being a dick though :-)

    @Giggs12
Rest assured it wasn’t directed at you mate. I used to read all the comments but not so much now. Less time thankfully. I mainly skim and pick up the talking points so most of my posts aren’t to anybody in particular. I always address people directly if my post is directly for them, I always have to be fair since you was Giggs11 I believe!

We’ve all got “freedom of speech” on RoM topics, and that means the person you disagree with ALSO has the right to opine however the fuck they please. Im fine with that and I keep an open mind, but where theres firm disagreements common sense has to kick in, as it has here.

We’ll disagree on Bebe, and as far as im concerned that doesn’t mean we should tip toe around the topic either otherwise we’d all be in here stroking each other… NOT my cup of tea! Im just here to debate the Club with like-minded level-headed fellow Supporters, whether we agree all the time or not.

Cheers mate, we’ve both avoided being branded as dick heads. Result.

    Haha, “sated”. Cheers mate.

Yeah mate I agree let’s not get silly, my neck is wound right back in :-)

Apologies for saying don’t be a dick.
