Unfortunately Gibbo was largely ineffective, failing to impose himself as required. Second goal came from the keeper spilling his shot.

  2. smartalex says:

Main thing is, no bad news. we needed this recovery time for injured players, and not more added to the list. Let’s hope a clean bill of health returns with these players.

Otherwise, well done lads. Only Tony V lost. Any news on that game?

  3. shubhangmanred says:

@smartalex The Evans lost as well.

  4. gerkeo says:

If you thought Carraghers tackle on Nani was bad, check out this tackle on shane long by some macedonian from Saturdays match and it only got yellow

    http://www.101greatgoals.com/videodisplay/boban-grncharov-horror-tackle-shane-long-republic-irelandmacedonia-8876054/

  5. smartalex says:

Very sad for Norn, Evans bbrothers (bboth), willierednut and others on RoM, sorry for that.
Thanks shubhangmanred, I saw the words, I don’t know where they went.
East through my ear instead of up to the north west hemisphere of my Manchester brain.

  6. mattbw7 says:

Sos to interrupt the thread but in the official forum some has said the ballot results are available online, fucked if I cna find the link, anyone help

  7. Costas says:

So the only players that will have to play in midweek and at West Ham are Evra and Nani? Doesn’t look like Chicha is going to make it in time…

  8. King Eric says:

Gerkeo. Gibbo had a decent game. Kept it simple and mopped up. Why would trapattoni single him out for praise if he was ineffective mate?

Is it just me or are modern day brazil just shit? I grew up watching greats like socrates, zico, falcao, eder, junior, then romario into likes of ronaldo and rivaldo. Now its cunts like lucas leiva, ramirez, players I have never even heard of. Like the number nine and the left winger. Then that cunt neymar who again will be ridiculously over hyped. A fucking price on his head of sixty million for a lad whoi has done fuck all. He looks like a pratt. Can’t even stay on his feet for five minues. Sorry but none of these fuckers are fit to lace the boots of the past brazil teams. I mean. Fucking elano? Wtf.

  9. mattbw7 says:

Woo Hoo got my ticket for the semi final!!!!

  10. willierednut says:

To be fair, that wasn’t Brazil’s first team. They still won the game at a canter, though.

  11. mattbw7 says:

Didn’t keep trak of the whole game but from what I saw Brazil have some decent talent available even with a lot of recognised 1st teamers out, good ot see the lad from Peterbrough get on, imagine telling the grandkids I once represented my country at football and got on the pitch against Brazil.

  12. willierednut says:

Neymar is a skinny cunt. Couldn’t see him, making it in the premiership.

  13. mattbw7 says:

Hernandez is a skinny cunt couldn’t see him making it the premiership, err hold on……………

  14. mattbw7 says:

well, he’s a short arse at any rate, Neymar is 19 and not out of puberty, he will get beefed up by the conditioning coaches in europe cos thats where he’s heading.

  15. willierednut says:

Neymar is real skinny, the lad needs a protein injection. He’ll go to Spain.

  16. mattbw7 says:

come on willie have you had a sense of humour failure, if the kid was at our place like a young gangly one trick pony ronaldo we’d all be off our heads with excitement, excuse any bad spelling im blaming JD!!!

  17. willierednut says:

    John Dorian?

  18. mattbw7 says:

Jack Daniels, well I’m off to bed safe in the knowledge that I’m going Wemberlee.

She wore, she wore, she wore a scarlet ribbon……………………………

  19. willierednut says:

You’re a lucky cunt Matt lol.

  20. King Eric says:

What I was saying is brazil the last two or three years have not been a patch on the seventies eighties and nineties teams. I don’t find them exciting to watch any more. I used to love watching them. But then its maybe because we are used to seeing more foreign players nowadays and much more flair. I mean it was a buzz watching the banana shots back then. Now they are second nature.

  21. smartalex says:

Nice one mattbw7. Wave a blue tissue so we know where you are sitting.

  22. mattbw7 says:

I know Willie, I read on the UTD official forum you could find out but I was having a right old time finding out, the phone line was saying the office was closed!!! but my daughter rang and pressed 1 for the ballot option and it worked!! we are both going!!! if you want a programme or owt PM me and I’ll sort you one, I know your a good sparring partner on here.

  23. mattbw7 says:

Are you trying to get me assasinated smartalex, Ive not had the email yet, just a recorded message saying Ive been succesful, Ill make a banner saying Sir Matt Busby Way, The Magnificant 7, Bryan Robson.

  24. mattbw7 says:

oops bad spelling agian, that JD is a bad teacher!!!

  25. willierednut says:

    Matt – Cheers mate.

  26. mattbw7 says:

like I said Willie, let me know.
    She wore, she wore,
    She wore a scarlet ribbon,
She wore a scarlet ribbon in the merry month of May

    And when, I asked
Oh why she wore that ribbon,
She said it’s for United and they’re going to Wem-ber-ley,

    Wem-ber-ley, Wem-ber-ley,
    We’re the famous Man United
    And we’re going to Wem-ber-ley

  27. mattbw7 says:

I’am now fully pissed, got a big day at work tomorrow and I’m still on here typing away, night all.

  28. King Eric says:

Matt. Nice one mate. I can’t bloody go. My wife arranged two months ago to go to gallashiels to a couple we met on holiday. Gutted. Even more so I had a ticket but my old man is taking my old dear. Going to final when we beat those bastards though.

  29. mattbw7 says:

Well I reckon only those with a semi final ticket will be in the ballot for a final ticket, so you could be ok King Eric.

  30. smartalex says:

Enjoy mattbw7, bring the final home.

  31. Kings says:

Wilshere said that Capello told them to play like Barcelona against Wales. Yeah it showed – Euro 2012 Champions based on that performance then. You silly little cunt. I hope he gets his fucking legs broken when Tunni takes him out next season.

mattbw7 – Nice work on getting a ticket mate. Let’s hope we beat those bastards.

  32. dannysoya says:

Rooney has taken another bashing in the media for his “subdued” role in the England win. They now even label him an “impact sub” at best. If this isn’t a sign that you should leave that National mess that is the English National Football Team then i do not know what else is. They obviously do not appreciate your input so why not concentrate your full attention on the people who actually do?

  33. Kings says:

dannysoya – The media are fucking cunts mate. It was around this time last year that they were shitting themselves at the thought of him missing out on the World Cup after he picked up an injury in the game against Bayern Munich in Munich. They have a new darling in Wilshere now who they love masterbating over. Fucking cunts. I would love to see Rooney tell England to go fuck themselves and quit, but he’s a proud man and seems to enjoy playing alongside that despicable bunch.

  34. MyCowIsTheBest says:

Wilshere is a legend, if you dont believe that, just ask Costas :)

  35. Dakota says:

So Rooney got subbed out….why? And is he or is he not still playing with England?

  36. smartalex says:

“I was hours away – I almost signed up for the English national side. But at the last moment I began thinking: ‘I am going to coach a national side, there will be one match a month and the rest of the time I will be in my office or supervising matches’.

“And then to have to wait until the summer to compete in a European Championship or a World Cup? No, it wasn’t for me.

“So at the last moment I pulled back preferring to wait for the right job to come along, a good club, a challenge that could motivate me. That was Inter,” said Mourinho.

  37. mattbw7 says:

Now Cappello is threatening to put a 2nd string out to a sold out Wembley, terrible when fans have paid thier money.

  38. CedarsDevil says:

Mattbw7, really happy for you mate, enjoy the day and more importantly the win!

    Morning all true reds

  39. CedarsDevil says:

Is JD still in the system? BTW, loved your idea of the banner, The Magnificent 7, Bryan Robson…

    We all love you Robbo

  40. mattbw7 says:

All JD gone now, yeah might actually get the banner sorted.

  41. theboogeyman says:

    Matt- Can I get a programme? :D

  42. mattbw7 says:

Lol, of course I’ll go down in a van :)

  43. MyCowIsTheBest says:

Arjen Robben explained in Bild: “I cannot imagine that (playing in the Europa League). That is the worst that can happen. I think it is better if you don’t play in it at all. Even winning the Europa League would not mean anything for me.”

And just to make sure there was no doubt about the players’ thoughts on the competition, Franck Ribery added: “The Europa League is rubbish and we have got to avoid that. The best way is not to even think about that. Playing in the Europa League is no fun at all.”

    hahaha

  44. MyCowIsTheBest says:

is that why citeh n loserpool get themselves knocked out recently?

  45. CedarsDevil says:

    MyCowIsTheBest

I think you are on to something there buddy!

  46. Dazbomber says:

John Terry is saying Rio might find it hard to get back in the England team, The cheeky hard faced cunt

  47. CedarsDevil says:

    Dazbomber

JT can happily go and fuck himself

  48. MyCowIsTheBest says:

    CedarsDevil

yeah.. just imagine if they play in that thrash competition again next season.. and then they try to buy Robben from Bayern.. hahahha priceless!

  49. lawman10 says:

    JOHN TERRY IS A CUNT!!!!

  50. MyCowIsTheBest says:

if JT is the best leader in England’s team, just imagine how bad team are mentally..

  51. mattbw7 says:

JT England manager in waiting, he just trying to motivate Rio into getting back in the team, he’s such a treasure, cor I wish we had him at UTD, what a leader.

  52. Giles Oakley says:

mattbw7 cracking post. It was ‘he’s such a treasure’ that really made me laugh, rounded off nicely with that ‘what a leader’. Good start to the week.

By the way folks, I saw Gary Linneker in Waitrose this week. His ears almost look real. Amazing.

  53. CedarsDevil says:

What a leader, what a legend, what a captain and what a class A cunt

  54. CedarsDevil says:

    Giles

    ‘His ears almost look real’

Hahahaha cracked me up that mate

  55. mattbw7 says:

What about his smugness, thats only to real!!!

  56. mattbw7 says:

Bryan Robson being interviewed on Talksport now.

  57. CedarsDevil says:

Any links to that interview mate?

  58. bc1050 says:

JT is fucking camel shaggin retrobate – fucking pikey thieven cunt that coudnt lead a pack of shoplifters in tescos in a saturday afternoon

  59. mattbw7 says:

it’ll prob be available in a podcast from talksport.co.uk though whether you can get access outside the UK I don’t know, sounded in good spirits, had the tumour removed and is returning to Thailand for 5 weeks futher treatment.

  60. King Eric says:

    Morning.

Off topic but absolutely pathetic. And the media reckon there is no anti United bias and we are paranoid:

    http://www.espnstar.com/football/premier-league/news/detail/item601728/Man-Utd-voted-Britain's-most-hated/#

So United are Britains most hated “company”. Grow up you bitter bastards. I love it!!!

  61. willierednut says:

What else is new. Barry will be England captain tomorrow, my life’s complete now, after that news.

Apparently, we’ve agreed a fee for De Gea.

    Good news about Robbo.

  62. King Eric says:

willie – Where did you hear that mate?

Not the fucking clown Barry being Captain, but the De Gea news?

  63. willierednut says:

    http://www.sport.co.uk/news/Football/52052/Spanish_press_United_agree_De_Gea_fee_.aspx

Here’s the story. Who knows, if this is true. United have been constantly linked with him for a while now.

  64. slim says:

Fuck the usual ABU going on now, to be honest i’m not even listening. I’m gut feeling is blowing away to eager excitment. Pogba scored for les blues against the germans. Calling it now this lad is going to be Fucking Immense.

  65. willierednut says:

United have allowed Vidic to join up with Serbia squad. I hope he’s just on the bench, for their game.

  66. Stephen says:

Slim, agreed with regards to Pogba he looks the tits, personally I would like to give him a run.

  67. akshay says:

can’t wait for united to play again!!!!!!

  68. 3/without/killing/anyone* says:

Vidic join the Serbia national team camp ? the hell ?

  69. Costas says:

    @willie

Really? Why would we do that? FFS, I was hoping to have Vidic fresh for West Ham. Even if he doesn’t play, he has to travel to Estonia and back. Nonsense.

  70. willierednut says:

Costas – Seen it on United’s website. The plus is, he’s fit at least. I hope he doesn’t play, though.

  71. Real red devil says:

The price for success is hatred.. not for us though…You cunts can hate us as long as you want but one thing you guys should remeber is we have more supporters than total UK population. Then you say we are the most hatred ..But what we are is Manchester United .The greatest football club in the world…

  72. dannysoya says:

@ real red devil, i am in total agreement. I actually love the fact that people hate us. If i was to become a superstar , the one thing i would pray to God for is. haters. they make you super famous and give you even more money just cuz they want to see you fall which never happens. so continue haters. Kick it up another notch.

as for John Terry. i don’t consider him a human being. A human being cannot have such a diminutive brain. I really hope we land a great keeper soon. If we have landed De Gea like i hear , then that’s brilliant news.

  73. StatesideAussie says:

@willie … that’s interesting about de Gea. Wonder if it’s true. I hear he’s very good but shit, he’s young. Got to wonder if someone that young has the maturity and experience we need. Hard to imagine he would join us to sit on the bench. Even though he’s only 20, he’s already too high profile for that. He’ll want some promise of being first choice, for sure.

Also wondering if TK will leave. Lot of people think he will unless he gets the nod to replace VDS. In that case, with both VDS and TK going, got to wonder if we are looking for one new keeper or two? The squad currently has four. If he does go, maybe we are looking for another journeyman keeper as well.

  74. Jeet says:

Not too happy with DeGea cos of the following reasons (all mentioned earlier on different posts, but trying to summarize):
    1. Age, experience and stature – how much experience does he have? Will he be comfortable shouting out instructions to Rio and Vida?
    2. He’s Spanish – means 2 things. One, he hasn’t had a lot of experience defending against aerial balls with the likes of Mssrs. Jones and Samba lurking around. Two, he may have his “dreams” – but on that point, God only knows!
    3. Last but not the least, from what I’ve read about him (honestly haven’t seen him much), he falls in the “spectacular but unreliable” category. That is to say, he will pull off the magnificient, but he has the odd howler when you least expect him to.

Would rather prefer Stekelenberg or Adler, TBH, but who knows – SAF may pull off a Chicha here (though unlikely in the GK dept.)!

  75. willierednut says:

Adler is a self confessed United fan. De Gea has huge potential. Stekelenburg has played at the WC and also in the champions league. If It’s any outside of these 3, I’d be surprised. All 3 currently play in foreign leagues, so there’s a risk involved, with all 3 IMO.

  76. Zibbie says:

Always a risk from outside the BEPL.
What a great time to be a Man Utd fan. The run in for 19, the FA and fucking Chelski the RentBoys and turn over of the first team the likes I have never seen as a EPL and Man Utd fan for 7 years now.
At work a young lad who’s dad played professional Footy in the US and has grown up with the game got the desk next to mine. I can talk Footy with some one in Dubuque IA!!!!!!!

  77. Stephen says:

International breaks are fucking annoying, what a waste of time the game against Ghana is tomorrow. £45 a ticker which I am sure the fans will not be reimbursed on as the Champions league players will not be playing, the FA are a total joke like the manager.
Adler I agree is a superb keeper and being a United fan cannot hurt also a 26 he is the right age and with experience.

  78. ethiored says:

Ever Banega played really well fr Argentina against USA. The whole team was fantastic to watch. Also Holland played a very nice short quick passing game very similar to Barca.

  79. Zelh says:

De Gea only 20 years old and already played a cup final in the EL. Of course he’s doing mistakes, but which goalkeeper isn’t at an age of 20?

We should reduce our expectations whoever will be van der Sars successor. can’t expect from a 20-25 year old to do no mistakes.

big advantage is that he’s spanish. so he’s very comfortable with the ball on his feet.

  80. Matlab Guy says:

Rooney – He is being played quite deep, behind the striker. Is the england manager playing him the same position as sir alex ferguson is playing him now?

Chicha… I think he is the wonder boy and the most impressive asset for both club and country. I think his work ethic is almost like tevez!!!

  81. jay says:

I actually quite liked the player Neymar he is a very tricky boy to play against, the only thing is that he is really small, when his teammates lifted him up it looked like he was lifting a 10 year old, my brother is 16 and bigger than him. But he is a talent, I think he would do well if he came to Engalnd, the only reason Robinho did not flourish here is because he did not want to be playing for Manchester City.

  82. Jeet says:

Zelh – disagree with you there. I am quite Ok lowering my expectations from Bebe or Obertan. Even Chicha, Berba, Rooney or John O Shea. But I refuse to lower my expectations from the first XI goalkeeper. To me that’s the job description. If 20 yr old GKs are expected to make mistakes, why go for them in the first place? Its not that we are going to blood this one in, is it?

  83. willierednut says:

Zelh – Good point about about being good with his feet. That is paramount, in the premiership. The premiership is unlike most other leagues, whoever United sign to replace VDS, will need time to adjust. The fact that Edwin is likely to stay at United in some capacity, will help the new man settle in.

  84. AnomanderRake says:

    Off Topic…

United are coming to New York…. in July

    Yay!

  85. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

My call is for Adler. He was the second choice under Enke before he decided to top himself. Neuer was only chosen to be the first choice goalkeeper for Germany because at the same time the manager was experimenting with youth, Ozil, Muller etc that he thought it better to keep as much of the successfull German U21 side together as possible. So he chose Neuer. Adler is the better and more reliable keeper in my opinion and its very rare that the Germans create a crap keeper. They are generally unspectacular but very disaplined and very rarely make terrible blunders like the English keepers love to do. I wouldn’t have a Spanish keeper if I was bloody payed to have one. They are namby pamby, have no aireal ability, they punch rather than catch and cannot be taught to catch unlike the Germanic keepers. They are generally meek and cowards and their heads drop when the going gets tough.
A Geermanic keeper will wipe the slate clean after every goal conceded and is as hard to beat a second time as they were the first. A Latin goalkeeper once beaten once or twice seems to just give in to fate, God allowed them to be beat so it must be his wish?? Thankfully Germanics have a brain and realise that god is a cunt and if he wants my team beat then he has to get through me.

    My first choice.
    Adler
    Second choice
    Steckelberg
    Third choice
    Neuer
    Fourth choice
Lindegaard (as hes already at the club)
    Fifth choice
    Timo Hildebrand

All these before Reina, Degea etc etc.

  86. smartalex says:

David Platt has hit back at accusations that City have been too negative this season. “When the opposition has the ball you have to defend and that is what we have done all season.”

    Idiot.

  87. StatesideAussie says:

On the goalie thing, got to admit I’d prefer someone with more experience. willie: I thought Neuer was on the shortlist, and Reina has expressed an interest though I doubt the dippers would allow that. In the end, it may be decided by availability.

  88. willierednut says:

Neuer doesn’t want to leave Germany.

  89. Zelh says:

Goat – not completely correct. Neuer was the first choice GK at WC, because Adler had a broken rib. And atm he’s really injury prone.
That’s why his performances are more mediocre, than anything else.
    Neuer definitly surpassed him.

But both of them are disciplined and strong in the air, good feet on the ball and still young for a GK.

Timo Hildebrandt? Really? I don’t even know where he’s playing atm.
total bollocks that he should be better than reina or de gea.

  90. Zelh says:

willie – I think it will be De Gea, Stekelenburg or Adler. Personally I would go for Adler, but injury prone atm.

  91. smartalex says:

Gary Neville was a Sky studio pundit for the Wales-England game, and it was Young who really caught Neville’s eye as he and the other wideman Wayne Rooney made a five-man midfield and three-man attack with equal ease.

“I saw something in him today that I’d not seen before: the fact that he could come in off the touchline and play in between players and cause them massive problems,” he said of the Aston Villa man.

“He was man of the match because he won the game in that devastating first 25 minutes.

“He got in so many times, not just for the penalty and the second goal, but on other occasions as well.”

  92. MyCowIsTheBest says:

hahahaha about United voted as the most hated, it is a common nature for the most loved thing to also become the most hated thing.. We are the number 1 brand in the world, so of course we would have the most haters too. That goes the same for Nike, NY Yankees in the US, AirAsia as the flight operator in Malaysia..

  93. willierednut says:

The Goat doesn’t like Spanish keepers lol. They’re better, than they used to be.

  94. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    @Zelh
He’s at Sporting, I think hes a top keeper and has some bad luck down the years. What other nation had so many world class keepers to choose from. Germany had Enke, Adler and Neuer all of which would (should Enke be with us today) all rank in the top 10.
If we cant get the others, remembering that good goal keeping is worth a good 5 places in any league and so no one is looking to cash in. Then Timo could be a sound bet. I like the almost players they fight more than most. When a player is on the fringe of making an international squad they tend to fight harder for a place. Just like Saha used to.
For me hes an outsider but a decent one that can be used to bleed Lindegaard into a few games as well instead of just leaving Lindegaard on the shelf. A duo of Hilderbrandt and Lindegaard isnt so bad.

  95. Jeet says:

    smartalex says:
David Platt has hit back at accusations that City have been too negative this season. “When the opposition has the ball you have to defend and that is what we have done all season.”
    ——————-

Yeah…I guess that city’s opponents have had the ball for all season…

  96. willierednut says:

Athletico president, ” No one has me about De Gea. Ask United.

De Gea, ” I owe Athletico everthing, but Man United are a great club.

  97. Rai says:

I think we should give Roy Carroll a second chance :)

  98. Zibbie says:

When does the window open? heheheheheh fuck wish I had inside information.
There was a guy on the FOX thread when the Berba deal went down that had a cousin at Man Utd that clean floors or something that talked about the players months before they became Man Utd players like Vidic and Evera in that winter window ect. Anyone know any real inside info? My crystal ball is on the fritz.

  99. smartalex says:

Despite only playing 163 of a possible 450 in March, fans voted him ManUtd.com’s Player of the Month. Wierd.

  100. CedarsDevil says:

    What the fuck?

    Afternoon all true reds

  101. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    @willierednut
Oh my dear fellow you have taken what Ive said as meaning I dont like Spanish keepers, even though I do concede Casilas is good. My good friend I just not that keen on the Spanish in general. If I want a fucked up Rosotto or beer that tastes like piss and its surved by something that looks like an escaped boyfriend of Dian Fossey despite its tastefull neon hair bangles trying to convince me its from the fairer sex then the Spanish is what I’d call adequate. Unfortunately I prefer my humans to have an ounce of bravoury, disapline and a general savoury demeanor.
I realise the Spanish keepers look better than they used to but thats because you cant touch a keeper in most league because the ref blows his whistle. Personally I like emotionless hardnoses between the pipes rather than bitches with clean nails.

  102. Zibbie says:

    Evra wow my bad.

  103. smartalex says:

    Valencia was that weird choice.

  104. CedarsDevil says:

    Goat

Priceless last line in your last post!

  105. smartalex says:

    Good afternoon Red-to-the-core Cedarsdevil!

  106. CedarsDevil says:

    Ditto smartalex

  107. StatesideAussie says:

smartalex “Despite only playing 163 of a possible 450 in March, fans voted him ManUtd.com’s Player of the Month. Wierd” Who is the “he”?

  108. StatesideAussie says:

smartalex … oh. Well, I guess the voting was influenced by the emotional thrill of seeing him back, and looking as if he hadn’t been away for more than 10 minutes!

  109. willierednut says:

Goat – A play on words my friend. Only messing. If It’s Adler, I won’t be too disappointed mate.

  110. Stephen says:

Fergie never buys Krauts so Adler would be a punt, De Gea and Stekelenburg seem to have the that advantage over him but for me he would be my preffered choice.

  111. CedarsDevil says:

Put MG between the sticks, he would philosophically keep the ball out.

  112. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

Maybe its got something to do with the games Valencia didnt play in the results werent all they should have been. Its difficult to pick a player whos played all those minutes in a loosing team.

  113. willierednut says:

Valencia deserves It after the bad injury he suffered. Good on him.

  114. smartalex says:

Jeet, that’s it. Platt is claiming the reason that they don’t attack is they’re too busy defending.

StatesideAussie, an emotional, illogical vote. Perhaps Gary will get a testimonial; should he play well in that, he’d be in line for player-of-the-year! I’m not at all unhappy about the award, but I hardly vote anymore as most voters are clueless!

  115. King Eric says:

Cannot see De Gea being Edwin’s replacement. He is a fucking kid. What has he actually done? Played about 40 games in his career in a piss poor team in a piss poor league? Yes he looks ok but certainly NO replacement for the great man Edwin Van Der Sar.

  116. King Eric says:

Goat – Bang on about the keeper sitautuion pal. Yes indeed the Spanish are namby pamby!

  117. King Eric says:

    Situation.

Are the Ingerlund under 21′s playing today please?

  118. willierednut says:

It’s what he’s done, It’s what he can do. He’s got potential. That’s like saying, why sign any young player, they haven’t done much?

  119. CedarsDevil says:

Adler or that bloke from Ajax (Cannot spell his name) for me any day. The kid in Madrid can stay where he is thanks

  120. King Eric says:

ha ha . Oh Goat you do amuse me. Just read your last post about the Spanish. Fucking quality.

  121. King Eric says:

willie – Yeah fair point BUT a keeper has to hit the ground running. We cannopt afford for him to be shit for a few months. Its THE most important position for me. He does look ok yes but at 20 he is no replacement.

  122. CedarsDevil says:

    Willie

United always buy for the futuire, i.e. potential… However the goalkeeping position is something we cannot afford to mess with… Remember the problems we had prior to VDS?

  123. willierednut says:

King Eric – There’s a risk with any new keeper replacing VDS. I said back in the summer, if the Glazers wanted to splash out, we’d sign De Gea. The safe and cheaper option would be Stekelenburg(Cedars lol) You can throw Adler in there as well now.

  124. King Eric says:

Off topic but the funniest transfer rumour I have read is we are after Van Der Vaart for TWENTY FIVE fuckking million. Yeah course we are.

  125. King Eric says:

willie – Yeah mate but why is De Gea much more expensive than say Steklenburg who has played in a World Cup Final? Likewise Adler who has experience. What I do like about De Gea though is his agility and the height of him. Nearly 6 feet 4. Just cannot see Fergie signing a Spaniard. I thought Steklenberg would be the favourite seeing as though Edwin suggested him.

Again, are the under 21′s playing tonight please?

  126. willierednut says:

Cedars – I’m not 100% sold in all the options mate. The manager and the back room staff, have a tough task picking the right one. We don’t know yet wants happening with PIG.

  127. willierednut says:

    *whats*

  128. CedarsDevil says:

    King Eric

Van Der fart can go and fuck himself along with pretty face Bale…. Thanks but no thanks

    Fucking British media cunts

  129. willierednut says:

King Eric – Away to Iceland, I think? Not sure, about the kick off time.

  130. Rai says:

King Eric – I thought it was Modric?…..,,,,,……….or was it Bale? Lol

  131. CedarsDevil says:

Its a position we need to splash the cash on and I believe SAF will get it right this time.

  132. dannysoya says:

first of all forget Neuer. he’s not coming here. if he’s going anywhere it’s prolly spain or bayern munich. Germans are generally discouraged from playing for manchester united or in the English lge for that matter and that’s why u see very few prominent germans in our game in England. However i think adler has a mind of his own and can disregard the german ABUs. plus he’s a very solid keeper who does the fundamental things well. he also has good feet which i think is paramount to our game nowadays. Stekelenburg also does the fundamental things right and can pull off the odd spectacular save. Those are my only two realistic hopes. I basically love keepers who stick to their job rather than trying to be foolish and that is why i have had no problems with VDS even with his ONE mistake in like 6 years that everybody seemed to blow out of proportion. so we should basically get a FUNDAMENTALLY SOUND goalkeeper and we are good.

  133. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

I think Sir Alex has put up a smoke screen in regards to who he wants to sign. He lets out little teasers to the press either himself or the tea lady to cloud the issue. We’ve heard hes interested in VDV, Modric and fucking Cornelius but I reckon hes really after Woodgate to replace RIO. ha ha ha ha.

  134. Costas says:

    Stekelenburg.

  135. willierednut says:

    He’s after another title.

  136. smartalex says:

Buffon has been the only keeper I have seriously considered for more than a year now.
I have mentioned him on RoM, and only Costas thought it was possible. Perhaps it is.
Some talk now of him going to Arsenal. Surely he would prefer United.

    http://www.football-news.org.uk/footballnews/103031/giorgio-chiellini-and-gianluigi-buffon-could-be-used-as-scapegoats.html

  137. CedarsDevil says:

    Goat

    Woodgate? hahahahaha

    Another classic buddy

  138. smartalex says:

Stekelenburg says “If an offer from Arsenal arrives, I will leave.”

    http://www.sportingo.com/football/a19685_manchester-united-target-gives-major-hint-arsenal-transfer

  139. willierednut says:

    Oh bugger!

  140. smartalex says:

“Gigi to Roma? Nothing is true,” said his representative Silvano Martina . “There are people who wake up in the morning and start news which does not have any foundation.

“Even the questions they asked yesterday about the withdrawal from the national team has no reason.

“And what should Buffon do when he is asked for the 200th time whether he will remain in Turin or not? It is guaranteed that he will stay at Juve because he has two-and-a-half years left on his contract.”

  141. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

Or Dawson the white Titus Bramble.

  142. CedarsDevil says:

I nominate smartalex and Willie to officially select our next keeper.

Anyone has any issues with this nomination? If you do go and fuck yourselves

  143. willierednut says:

    Barthez!

  144. CedarsDevil says:

    Taibi?

  145. redrider says:

    I second willie!

  146. smartalex says:

Some interest in Emiliano Viviano, anyone have any thoughts? He is 25, 6’5″, eats balony.
Actually, plays for Bologna, silly me.

This link is to goal . com, but is a quality article.
    http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/3284/euro-2012/2011/03/23/2407861/italy-no1-gianluigi-buffon-may-be-the-best-goalkeeper-of-all

  147. redrider says:

I think Taibi pales in comparison to the widespread aura of Barthez’s normality. :-P

  148. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    redriding willie??

  149. willierednut says:

Resign Barthez. Larry White gets the United job, we’re minted!

  150. CedarsDevil says:

    I second myself

  151. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    I’ll take sloppy seconds

  152. Ryan90MUFC says:

Gotta love Chica the goal machine

  153. redrider says:

That look on his face after Carlos’s goal still flashes in front of me.

  154. CedarsDevil says:

Seconds arrrrgh Love it …. As Homer Simpson would say

before I forget, Fuck off shitty

  155. willierednut says:

    Horny Simpson?

  156. smartalex says:

Anyone keen on Boris von Bananaskinsky?

  157. redrider says:

    Barthez’s bald head.
‘It’s going left. It’s out definitely. Wait it’s curving in. Na still going out. Wait… Yep out. No it can’t be… No it can’t be. Shit, i think i’ve crapped myself.’

  158. CedarsDevil says:

    Boris is welcome

Horny Homer? Never took him as such

  159. smartalex says:

Sloppy seconds is a lot better than filthy fifteenths. Rugby players don’t earn much.

  160. smartalex says:

^ They normally only take 1 hooker on tour.

  161. willierednut says:

    Spooner street? Homer horny.

  162. CedarsDevil says:

    Townsend is a cunt
    Townsend is a cunt
    Townsend is a cunt
    Townsend is a cunt

Come on, lets all sing along

  163. willierednut says:

  164. willierednut says:

    He loves the cunt………..

  165. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

Hes a saggy welly top of a cunt that Townsend the fekkin plastic mick.
(For those who are Irish, I never use the derogatory term mick to represent the Irish in general. I love the Irish but any naff Irishmen is a mick, just as Mugabee is a degenerate wog).

  166. smartalex says:

Townsend is a cunt! Townsend is a cunt!
    T o w n s e n d is a c u n t !

  169. Zibbie says:

Does the winning Rugby team get a second hooker?

  170. Zibbie says:

    LOL! @ Goat…….
in Swedish, language of the sausage jockeys and circle jerkers.

  171. willierednut says:

    He’s English Goat. Total fugazi.

  172. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    willie he played for Ireland

  173. Zibbie says:

I always thought the lack of German players in the BEPL was due to like you guys have fought like 10 wars against each other.

  174. Costas says:

    Ο Τάουνσεντ ειναι μουνόπανο.

There. Townsend is a cunt in every language. ;)

    @smartalex

I feel that Buffon would be the perfect solution. He is the most talented of those being talked about and is very experienced. I just wonder whether he is injury prone and whether he’d even leave Juve at this point. He’s been with them through their darkest time.

  175. willierednut says:

He did Goat, but he was born in England.

  176. Zibbie says:

    @Costas
Ο Τάουνσεντ ειναι μουνόπανο. A dyslexics nightmare language.

  177. smartalex says:

Costas, I am glad that you rate Buffon highly. I feel he has the strengths required to be consistently good at United, from the beginning. I believe that Sir Alex has the goalkeeeping resolved. By that I mean he is 100% sure of who the right person is, and that we have him. I also really hope that I’m right.

If I am right, then the Who, Why and How of the business has been done. So who?

Van Der Sar: he’s a great choice. Seems unlikely.
Kuszczak: we have, so if it’s him that’s great. I doubt it. I think he will stay, as No. 2.
Lindegaard: we also have! Also seems unlikely as 1st, I think he stays at 3rd

This may all seem irrelevant, but it’s not.

The air of calm shows that either Edwin is staying, or it’s a quality-for-quality change, as a seamless transition is expected. Who is the best, proven keeper in the world that we can get. Would chelsea sell us Petr, doubt it. Reina? Not good enough to me (I have no vote though) and seems unlikely. Mourinho would insist on coming with Iker, so no thanks.

We also need a goat keeper, for RoM.

  178. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

smartalex, I agree Buffon is the perfect straight replacement if you like but wouldn’t we be discussing all this again in the very near future. Im with alot of you sensibles that United is such a club that cannot afford to allow a great prospect make his name between the pipes and make his mistakes at United rather we need a champions league ready superkeeper, but surely theres someone a little younger that has some experience.

    Willierednut.
Cant get anymore plastic than that mate.

  179. willierednut says:

Buffon won’t leave Juventus now. He’s entwined to the old lady.

  180. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

A goat keeper whats that?? Oh I get it Im the butt of the joke

  181. smartalex says:

It’s the person who protects the goat. Prevents penetration by foreign bodies.
Thought we could get one, not worried!

I do see the same Buffon as willierednut, one who will not leave Juventus. I don’t rule it out though. In fact, it seems it may be just the tonic that both Juventus and Buffon need. And if they have decided it is time for them to part, where else but United? Nowhere else.

  182. smartalex says:

GoatinaUnitedShirt, you must be right that there are others with proven quality. United have surely identified, and secured Edwin’s replacement. Who, is the question.

  183. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

I must admit if Buffon would call it a day at Juve then Im sure with all the history between United and The Old lady then we would be his first choice, no doubt. Just to experience being with Sir Alex and everything that is United. But I think even for him it would be a short lived affair, the premier league is a step up in physical commitment and thats not the direction an aging keeper generally likes to go. I would welcome him but I would think he would rather hang up the gloves and be Juve for life. And a huge ammount of respect for that.

Dont worry about foreign penetration mate, i have a cork and i havent wiped my arse for a week. Anyone can stomach that and ill let em.

  184. smartalex says:

Makes a lot of sense that Buffon’s age is against him. I guess that a lot depends on his actual physical condition. If he considers Edwin’s achievements here, he may be up to a 5 year challenge. That would take him to 38.

  185. Rai says:

Smartalex – you’re right mate there’s no way Fergie can still be deciding who he wants. I think he must have known for a while that the current crop of keepers aren’t good enough to be number 1. I don’t think he’ll make the same mistake as ’99 we can’t afford to…

  186. smartalex says:

Rai – once bitten, twice shy. We haven’t made that mistake again.

Surely, we have secured our goal.

  187. StatesideAussie says:

smartalex … I reckon SAF has a shortlist and there may have been some preliminary discussions (some “sounding out”) but I doubt it’s gone any further. Eric Steele made a fairly public trip to Germany to see Neuer and Adler only two weeks ago (or to see a game they were both in, anyway). Why waste time on scouting missions if you’ve already got it figured out and it’s a done deal? So I think they have a shortlist and are actively monitoring those guys, and may have made some discreet inquiries, but in summer, the hard work will start.

  188. smartalex says:

StatesideAussie, another sensible comment! It certainly is a waste to scout players we won’t buy. Also, I don’t know the transfer regulations, but I somehow doubt that contracts of employment are falsefied to show dates that fall in the window. In other words, nothing has been signed.

It’s also true that we like to get our business done early, and I am sure that many of our deals are pre-agreed. Sir Alex and United are trusted. Of course, there is no deal until there is a deal, so scouting may continue, and irons left in fires.

I think my argument is a little tenuous! Oh well! An aspect of goalkeeping in football is that you don’t need many of them, but quality is required in goal every week for the whole season, if a club intends to win the league.

I see that United will be in the States in June, be there! Be RoM’s roving reporter!
