    Cleverley =)

  2. jsos says:

ow – edwin looks so SAD! (almost as sad as i am)

  3. Tony Starks says:

David Villa looked sharp today, considering it was his first game of the season playing against fully fit defenders

  4. twinnyd says:

Looking at VDS….he must really wish he was there on the pitch.

  5. Red Dave says:

owen missed a couple of good chances, but he was in the right place at the right time

  6. King Eric says:

Tony Starks – Villa was shit mate. Evans had him in his arse pocket.

What is with all this about Silva and Villa playing well? They both did fuck all.

  7. King Eric says:

Off topic – The dippers are furious on Liverpool Kop. They are not happy that they are replacing Alonso with Aquilani. He has started 27 games in THREE seasons and is always injured. They have no fucking chance of the title as the FSW never settles a team for more than one or two seasons.

  8. Tony Starks says:

    King Eric

It was Villa’s first game of preseason (and Silva). I am saying he played well based on that, his movement looked great and he had some chances (which he would have taken for sure if he was match fit)..

People seem to be forgetting that we played a team that was way way behind us in terms of fitness..

You can tell how good a player is without them having to necessarily make a final contribution..

  9. 9jmac says:

    Ferdinand was unbelievable yesterday

  10. King Eric says:

Tony – Perhaps I was a bit harsh on Silva, just watched game again and he looked comfortable on the ball and linked the play up well at times.

  11. doncobaino says:

after that match im MORE confident owen is gonna pitch in with more goals than tevez did. no matter what the eng ger land press say…

  12. monkeytennis says:

Nice to see that valencia can whip ‘em in pretty well!

  13. Micky says:

    I agree with King Eric

Villa and Silva did NOTHING. Both looked like Sunday Leaguers last night.

Valencia on the whole (the team) looked poor apart from the shot that came off the bar, and to be fair, he should have scored so they even cocked that up

  14. joero says:

From what I saw of the match, i was seriously impressed with De Laet. It seems we have an embarrasment of riches now at Right back. Also great to see Cleverly tuck one away. If we can keep hold of all our youngsters the future looks very bright indeed.

  15. Micky says:

I’d also like to say, whoever on here said Kusz is a shit keeper are off your heads.. his point blank save last night out of this world

  16. Costas says:

Morning guys. Just got back from my long trip to see the game. To say that my first OT experience was fantastic would be an understatement. I am overwhelmed. The only disappointment is that i didn’t see Giggsy and Scholesy in action.

As far as the game is concerned, i think we were good in the second half. Lets not give Owen stick yet. He got in the right positions and that’s what matters. The goals will come if he carries on like this. Valencia was great in the second half.

Villa and Silva looked average, but keep in mind guys that Valencia started their pre season after us, so they are a lot more rusty.

    micky

    good morning mate.

how was the match yesterday night. enjoyed it?

valencia is a cracking signing.he has better skills to beat a man than ronaldo and has incredible pace and stamina.

as for owen,i m sure hell bang them in but he got into some good positions.

  18. aig alex is god says:

    costas

    good morning amte.

good to hear that you enjoyed your first game at OT.it is once in a lifetime experience.

i agree that we should give owen more time.

how it must feel to be in a sea of red with all those passionate United fans.r u staying for the whole week?enjoying manchester

  19. joero says:

    @ micky

Kuszczak is a brilliant shot stopper, no question about that. If goalkeeping was only about reflexes he would be the best in the world. It’s just his decision making and distrubution that lets him down sometimes.

All that said, I have complete confidence in him whenever he plays for the first team. I would never go as far as to suggest he is a ‘weak link’

  20. Costas says:

    Hi AIG.

Actually tomorrow i am going back to Greece. I have been at Kent for the last week and took a one day trip to Manchester to see the game. I wish i could have stayed longer there, but the schedule wouldn’t allow it. Hopefully, there will be a second time.

The atmosphere in the second half was great. I didn’t realize how noisy OT could get. Have we heard any news about Vida and Brown? I heard about VDS.

  21. MUFC the Religion says:

Kuszcack does make super saves but his kicking, throwing, catching are a nightmare. I think Benny Foster is who should play in these 8 weeks.

  22. aig alex is god says:

no nothing abt vida and brown although it is being said that vida was not risked so that he should be fit for the start of the season

i personally think the charity shield is not all that imp and we should get those 2 fit for the start of the season.

lucky man, u ahave enjoyed so much.i have visited england just once.i was 5 years old then and never followed football.

i want to visit OT atleast once.hope that day comes in the near future.

  23. Costas says:

I truly wish that you get to do it AIG. It’s a great experience. I was lucky enough to have a friend who studies here, and basically he took care of everything.

I think the Shield could offer a good test for Vidic. He hasn’t played at all this summer and in order to get ready for Birmingham, Sunday is a good opportunity. It was nice to see that SAF keep pulling rabbits out of the hat at right back. De Laet and Fabio were very good.

  24. aig alex is god says:

    costas

ya i heard da laet was amazing as was fabio.good to see that youngsters are performing so well.also a lot of praises for valencia.seems to be a real good signing

my brother is going to UK for higher studies and is a United fan,but he will be studying in the university of birmingham which is very close to villa park

  25. Costas says:

Well that could give you the chance to go to OT with him at some point AIG. I think a friendly could offer a good possibility for you.

  26. Micky says:

    @Costas

If you thought the atmosphere last night was good, you want to be there on a Champions League night.

The atmosphere last night was actually fairly bad for a United game – which goes to show that the people who say OT is quiet are full of shit!

  27. Muggaz says:

I hope the atmosphere at Wembley on Sunday is good for the Charity Sheild. I wonder what team Fergie will put out there…

  28. doncobaino says:

those not impressed with david villa, i have one reason why, Johnny Evans….

  29. aig alex is god says:

    muggaz

charity shield is not that important.fergie will give some young lads a chance

    my team

    foster,rafael,rio,evns,fabio,park,fletch,scholes,park,berba,macheda

  30. aig alex is god says:

    oops sorry mentioned park twice
    nani shud start

  31. Tony Starks says:

    doncobanio

with all due respect, I wonder how it would be if Johnny Evans played his first game of preseason against a fully fit David Villa. Don’t misunderstand me am not criticising Evans at all. It’s just that when you watch Villa at 40% of his match sharpness, you can see how good he will be when he is 100% fit.

  32. aig alex is god says:

    Tony Starks

david Villa is the best striker in the world in my opinion.he regularly scores 30 goals despite of playing for Valencia and not playing in the champions League.

he wud have scred a hat trick had he been in owen’s place yesterday.

  33. Numquam Moribimur says:

The Antonio Valencia Show last night. Gr8 Movment, scared there left back to death, he faked an injury to go off i reckon haha! RED ARMY !

  34. theboogeyman says:

I see you enjoyed yourself,Costa.Did you see GHTT or anyone else from RoM that matter?Oh wait,we’ve only seen GHTT’s face.
Anyway, hope you get to go again. And I hope all of us on here who haven’t been there get to go there at least once in their life.

    PS:Me first. :)

  35. theboogeyman says:

    Good morning,all.

  36. NewtonHeath says:

    Silva looked a class act!

    Fergie
    Sign him up
    Fergie fergie

  39. aig alex is god says:

oh .my comment has been posted twice .dunno how

  40. Rite$h says:

The Community Shield will be much much tougher than all these friendlies, Ancelotti will try prove a point to the Russian dude. Hope noone gets injured in the United squad though, we are already starting the season without VDS

  41. Rite$h says:

Btw Scott and some of u guys are lucky to get the chance to watch almost every game played at Old trafford, I live in Mauritius, and only watch on TV when they broadcast a United match. So keep updating the blog, with more pics if possible and videos, and keep supporting the team through good and bad times :)

  42. mhihrh says:

    rite$h

i read your blog.good one mate.are you a tennis fan too?

just wanted to ask you is there any site from where you can download the emoticons you are using

  43. Paul the red says:

    anyone off to wembley sunday?

  44. Muggaz says:

hi aig – I know it’s a chance to test the youngsters, I don’t put too much stock in the result, I just hope the atmosphere is good! hopefully there will be a lot of reds outside the travelodge before the game for a bit of sing song!

@Paul the Red, yeah I am going mate!

  45. The Binocular says:

    Owen looked of his game.

But he will get it together.

    Speaking of former united players,

Alonso should have stayed one more year

  46. Numquam Moribimur says:

No paul, its full of cockney reds and the atmosphere is appauling !!!

Ive banned myself from wembley, all about stoke away this year, united agro !!! lol :)

  47. Paul the red says:

    Muggaz…… good work pal…

i will be getting to Euston station at 1pm….. no doubt a little merry from the lager breakfast on the train!!!

  48. doncobaino says:

yea thats a fair point, but i dont care im gonna bask in it! evans is looking more and more like a united player as each game goes on which is good to see.
Sunday will be a big test for evans and the rest of the lads. i dont know who fergie is goin to start with up front, anyone wanna try and suggest teams
    foster

    oshea, evans, rio, evra

    valencia, fletch carrick, anderson,

    rooney, berb

its safe to say i havent a clue…

  49. Muggaz says:

haha, catching the old Stella Express huh?

should be an excellent day out, I hope we do one on those Chelsea bastards.

  50. aig alex is god says:

    @doncobaino

the team is good but i ve chosen youngsters bcoz there are international matches on wed and i dnt want the players to be fatigued on Sunday hen the season starts due to the international matches.rooney, rio, fletch will certainly play.we need to give some players like valenci and ando a rest bcoz they have to travel more.

i want to see a goo, fresh, charged up starting 11 for sunday.

  51. Tony Starks says:

Why the hell do they have internationals just days before the league start?
International games make me sick! (Apart from the major tournaments!)

  52. aig alex is god says:

    tony starks

spot on mate.some of these matches are just meaningless and they should keep most os the matches in off season so that players dont have to overdo themselves.hope no one gets injured

  53. KVN says:

    Afternoon guys

watched the high lights and read the write ups. how on earth did SAF see
something in De Laet when Stoke City (i think) didn’t? wasn’t he in their reserves or something. I’ll stand corrected. but we’ve got an ambundance of good right backs: Fabio (who can play there), O’Shea, Brown, Neville, Rafael and even Danny Simpson.
I liked the look of Cleverly he looks sharp.
i’m going to the commuity shield game on sunday, so it’ll be good to see the reds in action. the main thing is that there’s competition for places, and Rooney now knows he doesn’t have to play wide left or right and can hurt the oppostion from the centre. we just need Berbatov,Owen, Kiko and Wellbeck to take their chances and be ruthless in front of goal.
The Future is Bright the future is RED UNITED.

  54. Trevor says:

There has been wide critisism of Own from yesterdays performance, for me the lad did well. He got into space well, timed his runs well. The chances he had some were not good chances.

He had a shot from the endge of the box which he hit with his weaker foot.. Which went wide

Got put through on the left and with the defender putting him underpressure and shot wide.. Rushed it a little.

His first chance he Dinked it over the keeper, i was supprised that it went wide! But he did well to get it over the keeper!

Hie second chance where the keeper saved, he might have taken a little better.

Although Lets remember he is not fully sharp, It was his first game at old traford, He has yet to settle. When he settles i think he will score quite a few thats for sure!

Someone quoted that Villa would have scored all 4 chances, sometimes everything strikers hit goes in, but they do have their off days. Their unlucky days! I think owen had one of them!

I think the comunity sheild will be the key test at what level we are at for the start of this season. I think we need to get a few wins to start our season off, a few performances to get the confidence up.. Id like to see a spread of goasl, Couple for rooney, Berbatov & Owen. With valencia chipping in a few assists and a few complished perfomances thoughout the team.

In addition i want to see our defence strong and for Foster to Bed himself in comfortably. Last thing we want is some uncertainty, this only causes goals! Defenders have to have the trust of their keeper, without it we have seen prior to VDS Defenders were being caught out of position, player deeper to not to cover for the keeper but because the confidence wasnt there..

  55. Jack says:

    ‘Cleverley’ done.

  56. mikeyg2310 says:

Glad Costas enjoyed his first trip to Old Trafford, and got to see us win too.
Got back myself at 4.30 this morning so am knackered at work. Took my little sister with me (and her boyfriend) to her first game, she loved it. I was really impressed with De Laet. Am I right to think he can play all across the defence? If so what a prospect!
Just crossing fingers now that my girlfriend has got me tickets for Wembley for our anniversary (and not in the wrong end like last year)

  57. King Eric says:

mikeyg2310 – Half four this morning! Where on earth do you live mate?

Fuck Wembley, but regarding the Charity Shield , I actually think it should be taken more seriously and have its profile raised. After all it is the English Champions against FA Cup winners and as we all know it aint easy to win these.

  58. King Eric says:

Ps – Yes De Laet can play anywhere across the back 4 and he DID come from Stoke City.

  59. mikeyg2310 says:

Hi King Eric, I live on Berkshire/Surrey border. Doesn’t usually take me that long coming back if I am just visiting my Dad, but took us ages to get away from the ground last night.
I would like to beat Chelsea on Sunday (especially with the amount of their fans we have at work), but given the choice I would prefer 3 points against Birmingham
Do you know how other countries view their Charity Shield equivalents? I think Spain have a Super Cup. I’ll have to ask my mate in Madrid how important it is there.

  60. eric belfast says:

it was a good match that owen sudda put at leat one of em away…

  61. kel says:

I wish i could go all the time if i had the chance. Not once i went there before. Not once i travel to the country. Really envy those who can go and keep complaining about the team lacking of signing of players. Hope i can go one time! I hope we do beat chelsea this coming Sunday as that could give us more confidence going into the new seasons. As for Valencia, i do hope he can improve his dribbling to the left as his left foot look more weaker. If he can improve on that, definitely going to be a really good player. Not to say he is not good yesterday. He is brilliant yesterday.

  62. Rite$h says:

    @ mhihrh
