Manchester United beat Fenerbahce 4-1 on Thursday evening and it was Paul Pogba who started the ball rolling when scoring a penalty won by Juan Mata in the first half.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been on penalty taking duty so far this season but Mourinho has said Pogba was next in line in the Swede’s absence.

The first penalty taker was Paul. We made that decision which he took and then probably he didn’t want to repeat, because of the second penalty a couple of minutes later and Martial was the one who had the previous action.

Martial is also a good penalty taker, they made that decision and it was not a problem for me. I always give the indication of the one that has to take with the freedom of the other guys to make the decision on the pitch.

However, Pogba has claimed that it was down to him or Wayne Rooney to take it, but the captain let Pogba have it.

It’s Wazza or myself but I told him I wanted to take it and he let me take it. So I’m very happy to score that penalty and from a player like him, the captain Wayne Rooney, to let me take the penalty is a big respect so I’m very glad for that.
