POLL: How Do You Feel About Rooney Now?

  1. Corea says:

    3rd choice.
Actuallu the 3rd and 4th are quite identical, Scott.

  2. Colbert says:

Very unhappy. I wanted him to leave. Things will never be the same again between him and Fergie, and between Rooney and us fans.

  3. yii_ says:

    Disappointed

  4. Scott the Red says:

Corea – Never feeling the same way about him and forgiving him sooner or later are identical? No, nothing alike actually lol.

  5. Ulster Red says:

    picked number 4

  6. Corea says:

@Scott the Red – for me at least.
You know, sometimes when you do some things that hurt other people and they forgive you some day it doesn’t mean they will have the same respect for you. They will always keep in mind things that happened.

  7. VivaWazza says:

I feel neutral. I hated him before the news he was staying. Now its just nothing really. But he needs to win the hearts of millions of fans for sure

  8. Dumi says:

Well, in a nutshell, I FORGIVEyOU ROO, BUT I will NEVER forget. As Long as you are putting on a United Shirt, I will support you. As long as you perform well on the pitch, I will Applaud you. I will celebrate with you when you score, and I will be urging you to SHOOOOT when you are within sight of Goal.

BIT, LET ME BE CLEAR, I will NEVER forget how you made me feel over the past couple of days.

So yes. I FORGIVE you wayne, but I will NEVER FORGET..!

  9. jAke says:

he just wanted more money, simple
not the first united player to force a better deal and wont be the last
im just happy he is still here!

  10. Yousaf_Giggsy=Legend says:

I’m confused between number 3 and 4..but for now..I guess I’ll go for 3..It’s just that..the next time he kisses that badge, it’ll just be hard to believe!

  11. Gustav Sandberg says:

Really wish we would’ve let Wazza go, after such disloyalty I don’t even know if I’m gonna be able to cheer when that lad scores.

  12. FULLARD says:

i feel like he’s just told me he’s keen on my sister….

  13. denton davey says:

First off, he’s a mercenary – was six years ago when he left his “boyhood club” and is one now. Like Keane-o said, “look our for number one ‘cos you’re just a piece of meat”. That’s the reality of life in professional sports – the dark side of that reality is Nobby Stiles’ slow decline into poverty which he is trying to stave off by selling his medals.

Second, he’s not the Messiah, he’s a very naughty boy. And, I’m not sure he’s as good as the optimists claim – yes, he can be a handful for any defender (and they ALL use their hands) but he really does lack the magical touch of Messi or the sheer athleticism of CR7 – and to compare him with true greats like FatRonaldo or Pele or Maradona or Georgie Best is simply ludicrous.

Third, I think that he will burn out sooner rather than later – all the evidence of his out-of-control life-style hasn’t gone away. The drinking, smoking, clubbing, and whoring are not likely to be a thing of the past. Unlike, say, Paolo Maldini or Ryan Giggs, WayneRooney does not “honour the game” and he has no sense of humility whatsoever.

Fourth, will his demand for UTD to match his own ambition be met ? Will SAF now splash-the-cash or was this just a bargaining ploy – a really scummy one that smeared his team=mates and questioned a manager who has been the most successful in the history of the game ?

Fifth, The next time he kisses the badge, I’ll be wondering if he’s really wiping his nose How will you feel about that gesture of loyalty and love for the club ?

BUT, as I’ve writteno on this site with some regularity, “it’s entertainment – and if it ain’t melodrama then it’s shite” and no one can argue that WayneRooney hasn’t given us a week’s worth of melodrama of the finest quality imaginable. Is that enough to make you feel that you’ve just been slimed ? Not me.

  14. urval87 says:

@ Scott —— want your opinion on this. Posted on other topic too.

I’ve read now in a couple of credible places that over the past few days, Collete McLoughlin, Colleens mother made it clear that she wanted Colleen and Kai in Britain.

That is why the deal with Real was never going to happen. Chelsea would not have met wage demands and United would not have sold to them. His only other choice of City was blocked because his sponsors made it clear that since City do not have a global fanbase and that there would be severe drop in earnings from image rights for Wayne. Also the 30 guys and the death threats played their part.

He, rather they, have chosen a pay rise at United and will now make attempts to rescue their image. These developments have happened against the will of Paul Stretford. Rooney last night instructed him that he would sign with United and he blames Stretford for the PR disaster.

Also his new contract comes with assurance with the Glazers with regard to a specific minimum dollar amount of money spent on transfers and also assurance that SAF will continue on for a few years.

There are some fans here who believe that Rooney will be sold later and this is just a stop gap arrangement. But the club would then not have made a statement saying that Rooney will have been a United player for 11 years when his new deal expires.

In all of this, the only guys laughing are Sir Alex, the Glazers and David Gill. The simple reason is that Sir Alex got his player. MUST and Red Knights have egg on their faces because Rooney has clearly said that the new deal has been brokered with a big contribution by the Glazers. David Gill has shown that guys like Paul Stretford are no match for his deal making skills.

The team has also been galvanised and they will also want to prove a point so we may see some world beaters emerge from the current crop. In all of this it is believed in media circles that Sir Alex’s interview on MUTV specifically turned the tide. Rooney wanted to go making the manager and owners look bad. That was never going to happen after the interview.

Rooney was hoping that United would keep everything under wraps like with the Tevez situation. He still cannot believe that SAF went public. In fact, at the time the statement was aired, he, Paul Scholes and Ricky Hatton were enjoying a dinner at a place near where Scholes lives. In all his post signing statements he has said it became difficult for him after it became public knowledge. Clearly he means the things he was agreeing with city were disrupted. In the end, he had no other alternative to make good with United.

If you want further proof he has said in his statement that he is signing with the belief that staff, management, owners will strive to keep United tradition of winning alive. This statement reeks of conditionality.

Finally and most hilariously, City are along with Stretford the biggest losers in all of this as they had clear plans to use Rooney to build a global fan base. They were actually stunned when the SAF press conference happened. They also felt that they had an agreement in principle with Rooney and he has now backtracked.

    So once again,

WE ARE UNITED AND WE WILL NEVER DIE!!!!!

  15. mancstan says:

I kind of wish we got rid in Jan, as long as ALL the money went to new players.

Let someone else step up and have a chance.

nah. Will applaud the goals, and expect him to play 110%, but he can f off as a person.

Think the saying is if I saw him on fire on the street, not too sure I would bother peeing on him.

That said, if he scores the winning champs league goal, I may warm to him a little

  16. smithy99 says:

Fuck him. I’ll never feel the same about him after his fooling about in recent days. Thick scouse cunt.

  17. Dave Mack says:

    Good poll Scott.

It would be worth running again in a few months, particularly after Rooney has performed like he did before March (please, God!) and compare results.

  18. Dave Mack says:

In the end of the day …. ..if you stay at a club when you could have got more elsewhere …this is LOYALTY by modern football standards. (I call it the KEANO definition of loyalty.)

As I’ve said, no matter what most of us feel right now, once he starts playing like he did last season, 99% will get over it and if he retires from the club after 15 years we’ll call him a LEGEND and blame his agent for this little blip…. if we even remember it!

    Sad but true.

  19. Prodigy says:

    A mix of 1, 2 and 3.

  20. willierednut says:

3rd choice. Love the conspiracy theories atm, Rooney and SAF in this together, to put pressure on the Glazers lol.

  21. valencia2010 says:

I don’t know why all of you are moaning because he is going to get 180K, so what he is our best player and he is worth all that money. Imagine we had to play with out him let say until we got a new player till january,we will be in the same position with liverpool fighting for relegation with all those big bames we have coming up.We stillhave too buy three players (gk, one replacing scholes and another one replacing giggs)

  22. Corea says:

@denton davey – he is WayneRooney and you are denton davey. it’s as simple as that.

interesting to see like many of us continue questioning SAF. yes, WayneRooney will burn out and SAF made a fool of himself. I guess everything in life is balanced. Everyone is where he is right now, at his place.

  23. Arni says:

The guy made a mistake. Everyone here has too. Give him a second chance. No good booing or anything like that. You guys say that a lot on this site, so follow through what you preach.

  24. musvn says:

Now I don’t know what to say after all of this saga. What the heck has he been thinking? What was that for? Anyone knows his salary? Did he try to fake leaving just to get a significant raise? He now has to rebuild relationship again with us supporters and I’m sure he will not get my trust years to come.

  25. Old Traffords Finest says:

    @urval87

Best comment I’ve read today. Agree with a lot of your points.

This kid is 24, he isn’t the brightest and has been brainwashed by that cunt Stretford. I forgive people for making mistakes, Beckham and Ruud have since admitted they regret leaving, wouldn’t we have rather them make this decision before moving?!

I am just pleased he made his own mind up before it was too late. Jesus people this guy carried us last year.

@denton davey – you really did waste your effort typing that shite. But it’s a forum and I guess even your opinion counts.

Get your head down Wazza, get fit for Citeh, and win some of these fickles over.

  26. bestie says:

play him wide left flank with evra..that`ll be nice.. if he scores some winners for us and the league comes back to old trafford and we win the champions league with rooney scoring the winning goal, then and so I will forgive him.

  27. Gary says:

I don’t know how to feel, we have to support him now……I thought it was one of Rio’s wind ups, I’m still waiting for Rio to pop up and tell us all “You’ve been merked”

  28. perkythered says:

    @ urval87:
it was rooney’s advisers that went public, briefing over sunday/monday

  29. urval87 says:

    @ Old Traffords Finest

Thanks man. Its just what I gathered from reading different version of story from some credible places.

  30. Redbeard says:

Gotta be number 3 for me – as long as he’s in a United shirt I’ll support him but I’ll have very little respect for him as a human being.

  31. Cantona7 says:

I hope we sell Roney as soon as possible. To treat the club, players, fans and Sir Alex with such disregard and with no respect is unforgivable. I have never booeed a Manchester Unted player before but cannot see myself cheering or supporting a player i hate so much and have so little respect for. Ferguson will be happy that he is on a long term contract as he will be able to dictate the terms of him leaving, which i still think he will do. He has no love for the club he doesn’t even respect it.

  32. eddiemunro says:

Put him in the same boat as Rio now. Important player who’s here for the money and trophies not cos he loves United.

  33. urval87 says:

    @ perkythered

Agree with you. MG and Stateside Aussie both yesterday confirmed that it is a common media tactic to nip one story in the bud for another one later.
Rooneys advisers went public but they did so under the table. No directly attributable quotes and at the time we were al having a laugh on RoM here.
What I meant to say was that Rooney never expected United would make a public statement. He felt he would ease out like Tevez did over a prolonged period.

As I have posted, his and his agents plans were blown to smithereens after the MUTV press conference.

  34. hammons says:

“Fool me once, shame on you. For me twice, though, shame on me.”

    IFIT (In Ferguson I Trust).

  35. United4eva says:

Didn’t vote cos my option: Just don’t care isn’t there. I’m sorry Rooney said all that stuff and his punishment has been a MASSIVE pay rise. Whats that all about? I’m supposed to be “happy”. This poll is seriously flawed. He’s a great player when his head is in the game but he’s rubbished our players, rubbished our club and rubbished our manager. Why should I be clapping like a performing seal then?

  36. Fred says:

The 2nd choice is the right answer btw. Can’t believe any of you can even picture the horrible mercenary cunt wearing our shirt again. All I hope is we get a massive transfer fee for him in the summer (preferably not from the “massive” club) and spend it on some real fucking quality players. Fuck Wayne Rooney. I’m in disbelief here that almost 200 people (as the poll stands) have answered that they have already forgiven Rooney or probably will in the future! This scumbag has singlehadedly dragged our club through the dirt this week and you people are happy to forgive and forget??? Un-fucking-believable.

  37. Tomo1982 says:

personally I’m still disgusted, unless this is a remarkable stunt they have pulled off and the players, Rooney and Fergie have all been in collusion, which I just can’t see.

If he leaves in the summer for an astronomical fee, as opposed to relatively low fee if his contract was running down then great, but personally I feel completely let down by the club. After all the talk of us being bigger than one player it seems we have been totally held to ransom.

Experience tells us we should not doubt the judgment of the gaffer, but I am actually disappointed at Fergie for leaving the door open – I think it sends out a terrible message that its fine to belittle your colleagues and take the piss out of the fans who have loved you so much – and then double your salary!

What is it going to do for team morale?

The only thing I have really ever completely disagreed with prior to this that the gaffer has done was when he went on about how we were “lucky to have had Ronaldo play for us for so long” – fuck that, he was the lucky one having the honour of playing for us!

This for me is up with their with that statement – no one should be bigger than the club. Of course we want the best players to play for us, but we shouldn’t have to pander to their every need and make them bend over backwards to do so… they should do it for the honour.

  38. BenUtd says:

I’m happy, no just about Rooney staying, but that Sir Alex has once again shown his unrivalled man-management ability.

I haven’t forgiven Rooney (yet), but I’m sure as he puts in some good performances and scores an important winner or two (which is all bound to happen sooner or later), we will all forgive him. I believe Rooney’s agent and advisers put him in that situation more than he did himself.

I must say that I’ll never respect as much as Giggs, for example, but that changed when stories about his private life arose.

  39. Costas says:

    3rd choice for me.

  40. Colbert says:

    @Fred

I completely agree. It’s no wonder Rooney had the balls to do this. The fans are just as superficial as the players. We invite this kind of behaviour by just accepting it and moving on as if nothing happened. The game is fucked, from top to bottom.

  41. Marq says:

Why do I have the feeling they are doing to Rooney what they did to Ronaldo, making him sign a new contract to make sure any transfer fee to take him away is going to be a big one? Either way, the relationship is forever broken, and will never be like what it was before. Time for a new hero to step up

  42. JayDee says:

    Different options
“Unhappy cos he’s been a prick and that’ll never change, but rather him here than elsewhere”

  43. fergie is the boss says:

Fred – remember keane and what he done in 98 and his outspoken words towards the team, shot happens move on. He is a united player so I still think he is great, he said what all the fans were saying for 2 FUCKING YEARS, the club needs to bring in good players and especially get the engine room sorted soon rather than later, because scholes and giggs have not got long left

  44. Balaji says:

Forgive him? No. Unless Sir Alex is the world’s best actor (which i dont think he is), there is no way i can forgive this Scouse Bas***d for humbling the great man in that interview nor would i forget how he made all of us feel for the past 2 days!

To me he is just another united player. He will have my full support when he wears the red shirt of united but will never again be spoken in the same breath as Scholes, Giggs or Neville.

    M.U.F.L

  45. fergie is the boss says:

Marq – ronaldo signed a new contract because he had not achieved what he set out to do at united. ronaldo signed a new deal on april 13th 2007. So ronaldo had not won a league title, he had not won a european cup, he had not achieved european and world player of the year. Ronaldo wanted to leave in summer 2008 because he thought he done his job at OT nowt to do with united wanting to sell up

  46. Corea says:

@BenUtd – if Rooney saves a child risking his life ? If Rooney donates 5 mln to charity ? If he helps a helpless vagabond giving him hope and helping him start a new life ? How many of us stop when seeing a dirty man lying in the mud and ask what is wrong with him ?
Life is not always about what we read in papers and football is not the ultimate thing.

  47. lyndhurstred says:

Selected option 4 and like a lot of people on here will feel the pain for a while but we as fans have a big role to play.
If Rooney shows the level of comittment that he always has then I’ve no doubt the fans will get behind them, trust is also part of the equation and again he will be judged by as actions.
If he delivers then we have to repect that, yes he f*@ked up but lets move on because actions speak louder than words

  48. redrider says:

The plot thickens, the mystery entwined shall now remain just whispers in the wind… Oh what the hell!

  49. willierednut says:

One thing I don’t get, is Sir Alex said Rooney now knows how big United are. hmm, it took him 6 years to figure that one out.

  50. FusilliJerry says:

Get over it, stop typing the word “cunt” because it’s the only one you can spell correctly, get behind the manager and the players, our best one included because to perform he needs us as much as the team needs him. It’s called support.

  51. Costas says:

    @willierednut

It’s when you try to fuck with Man United that you realise how big they are..

  52. shabadu84 says:

the one thing this whole ordeal has made crystal clear…virtually every modern-day professional athlete is at least a bit of a cunt. the scholes/giggs/nevs of the world are a rare commodity and should be respected even more than they already are.

rooney, for me, went from being on his way to being in that group, to tevez, and now…I view him somewhere between tevez and ronaldo. One was an ungrateful opportunist cunt (tevez)…the other was a professional who made the most of his time at united and has nothing but good to speak of the club (ronaldo). he and his agent went about this the worst way possible and used the club/fans to get their way. i won’t be wearing my rooney jersey anytime soon, that’s for sure. but im sure one day, ill be cheering rooney scoring again. for now, i want him to go about his business and fulfill his obligation to the club. no badge kissing, no kiss up interviews. do your job and let us decide on our own…he’s nothing more than the club’s highest paid employee

  53. BenUtd says:

    @Corea
I’m not sure what your post has to do with mine.

  54. redrider says:

    Lol

  55. Fred says:

@FusilliJerry – give your head a wobble mate. What Wayne Rooney did to Manchester United and Sir Alex Ferguson this week was the most dispicable act I’ve ever witnessed from a player. Absolutely disgraceful.

  56. fergie is the boss says:

he is here dont care lets support the guy, PPL forget rooney said what everyone has been moaning about all fucking summer, the team needs fresh faces and if rooney standing up for what the fans on what we all been saying I am glad it was done even though the timing was off

  57. King Eric says:

Scott – Interested to know how YOU feel mate?

  58. fergie is the boss says:

Fred – LOL rooney is the worst, yea what roy keane done in 2005, like what van nistlrooy said about ronaldo. yea like what roy keane done in 1998 and delayed contract talks until he got the best possible deal for himself

  59. Costas says:

    @Fred

Not to mention his team mates who were in action 2 hours later. Can you imagine Rooney apologising to Red Nev? :D

  60. Scott the Red says:

King Eric – Without sounding like a dick, I’m pretty drained by all of this, coupled with being out of the country, so am taking a bit of time off from it. Will get something up over the weekend.

In brief, I’m more relieved that he doesn’t play for City than I am happy he still plays for us.

  61. King Eric says:

Oh god. Why has Ronnie suddenly become a hero and taken the moral high ground to some folk? He is no better. A WEEK prior to Rome his self interview confirming he would stay, his fucking petulance, his slinging his tracky top down. I DO like Ronnie but please do not make him out to be the hero.

  62. MUFCUM1 says:

    A) Should have sold him

  63. Corea says:

@BenUtd – the comment was about respect. didn’t read your comment carefully perhaps but your last line is a bit illogical. This was a general comment just clutched at the quote. No offence of course, mate.

  64. willierednut says:

Never mind STR, I want to hear what suhayl thinks about this lol.

  65. King Eric says:

Scott – No worries mate and I know exactly what you mean. It was the thought of him playing in blue that had me feeling sick and then the predictable power shifting nonsense. One thing though,. If Rooney DID go to City it would have made us look exceedingly small time and to the onlooker they would think that Citeh had overtaken us.

  66. Viva Gonaldo says:

Get off his back lets get him back playing and doing what he does best the people saying sell him and all are talking crap if we sold him and finished 5th this seasion we’d blame him so lets see what wazza can do for us in a few weeks when he;s fit we can express our feelings but till then get behind the lads that are palying and show them how we feel

  67. crazypedro says:

Welcome back… grow up everyone.. we all lose our rag and say things we don’t mean from time to time. Remember he has always given his best and wants to win. If good enough for our sir Alex then that does for me. He has helped us to a few trophies and personally had a tough year, even of his own demise. GO and do what you do best. YOU are a Manchester united player and I am back with you. AND all you of a different they should think that given our support we can get the old Wayne back

  68. King Eric says:

willie – Yeah mate that WILL be interesting

  69. Corea says:

Scott the Red – i am not for Manchester lol
Please give some clues why it would have been that hard of a pill to swallow for you if he went to Citeh.

  70. urval87 says:

    @ King Eric

Agree with you that the laymans opinion would be that City have gone beyond United if they can sign United’s best player……. City ought to remain small time :)

  71. BenUtd says:

    @Corea
No worries, I was just a little confused.

I’m pretty sure every United fan will never respect him as much as Giggs or Scholes, which at one time could have been possible.

  72. lakee says:

I actually think that partially this was done with a purpose. They needed something to put to bed this never ending prostitute scandal. They could only do it with a big bang story like this. They knew that fans(most of them) will forgive him sooner or later, especially if he do finish his carrier with the club.

  73. Costas says:

    @Scott

I’ll save you the trouble mate: Rooney is a tosser, but he is our tosser. :)

I’ll be waiting for your thoughts once you get some rest.

  74. fergie is the boss says:

King Eric – if you do have time mate to respond, I got to say I totally agree with you about damn time someone came out and said ronaldo is no angel. I backed rooney a phew days ago when PPL started saying ronaldo was the angel compared to rooney. rooneys acted like a Burk we all know that but leave the guy alone and support him he is here, ronaldo isn’t is he PPL. He wants to win and if we sign some quality players rooney may have kicked the club right up its ass because its been well over due, and you know what like it or not he has committed himself to the club and thats good enough for me. PPL forget in the 06/07 season ronaldo messed the club around and he was threatening to leave also in the summer of 2007 until april 13th.

  75. Danillaco says:

    FORGIVE BUT NOT FORGET.

Wayne Rooney has a lot fixing to do, he better start scoring 60 goals a season. But right now, I don’t think things will be the same again.

  76. Devil310 says:

Putting aside what the FANS might feel….

What do you think our squad now feels about him? Will they trust him now? I really wish that the team don’t give him a free pass on this one, and treat him like nothing has happened. He should get what he deserves from the people he criticized in the first place….his teammates.

  77. FletchTHEMAN says:

As I said on the other thread. A really bad week for brand Rooney. Take him some time to recover.

This poll is a great idea Scott. Might help people to stop throwing the name “legend” around as lightly as they do. Legendary status is something earned over years of service to me. It can also be constantly reassessed. Anyone thinking they are bigger than the club takes a big step down from this pedestal in my view. Disrespecting the club is

PS Today feels a very very good day to be a Red. Thanks to Sir Alex for that!

  78. willierednut says:

    STR – Drained or hungover?

  79. Corea says:

@fergie is the boss – i kept saying few days ago and and will say it again. it is quite obvious Fergie wanted to build the team around players like Rooney if not solely on Rooney. That’s why he wan’t in a hurry buying top names. The departure of Rooney would have made it very difficult for him because he is almost 70 and he hasn’t got a lot of time to build a new team.

  80. Fred says:

@Scott the Red – “In brief, I’m more relieved that he doesn’t play for City than I am happy he still plays for us.”

My thoughts exactly but I think he might still end up there. It would make me me sick to see him playing for that mob but as long as we got a huge transfer fee for him and invested it in top quality players, I’d be happier with that than I would be watching the Scouse Judas disgracing our shirt for much longer.

  81. Jeet says:

Choice #1 for me – and as the Don said, its not personal – its business. I believe very strongly that only out of adversity comes true opportunity and true resilience. Human beings inherently resist change as it pushes them out of their comfort zone, failing to realize that its the only course for the long run. I sincerely felt that this was the adversity that would lead to a bigger, stronger Utd. – no more dicking around about value, no more “long term Glazer committment”, no more passionless Gibson shows, no more hot-and-cold Andos and Caricks. Fletch would not have been what he is without the Keano bollocking, and the golden kids wouldnt have been what they turned out to be if they hadnt been thrown off the deep end. You want steel you gotta temper it – dont mollycoddle the youngsters – throw in Obertan, Macheda, tell Berba that he’s gotta be the fuckin leader, tell the Glazers that they dont have a hope in hell unless they strengthen the team and show the fuckin world what it means to put on the red shirt. As MG puts it, its not only a symbol of defiance, its also a responsbility, an obligation to go for greatness. This compromise puts us back in the comfort zone, and worse – it sends a very wrong and confusing message to players. How the fuck are we different from Chelsea? It is ambition for Rooney and it was sleepless nights for Terry – same fucking story. The only way I’ll accept this is if we sell the bastard in the summer, and reinvest and build from there.
Rant over – just my two cents.

  82. Peter says:

I dont trust Rooney, the Glazers or Gill, but one person I do trust in what is good for our club is SAF. So If he can forgive Rooney then I think I can too. Dont get me wrong I will never forget, but i think the team deserves our support, and booing one of our players will not do our team any good.

  83. Fred says:

@Devil310 – good question, but I think they’ll forgive him tbh.

  84. Walter Mitty says:

First off, before All This Happened, I felt that Rooney was perhaps the best of a reasonably decent bunch of players. Our squad now is good, but none of them are great the way Maradona or Pele or even Messi and Ronaldo are.

No, I don’t think – never really did – that Rooney is a great, or on the evidence, ever will be one. Rooney can be very, very good when he’s on form, but when he isn’t, he has the first touch of a rapist and only really seems to contribute a lot of hustle and bustle to the pitch. Plus, he gets injured regularly.

So I’ve never quite understood the hype that’s been built around him. Until he can consistently play at the level he’s now only capable of achieving in bursts, he will never be great. There has never really been any evidence that he’s able to play consistently well for more than a couple of months at a time, and his regular appearances in the scandal sheets won’t help that. Do you see Ronaldo or Messi running around, shacking up with grandmothers and expensive prostitutes? No! They just play good football just about all the time. Rooney? Pfft.

When SAF’s interview appeared, I was furious with Rooney, particularly because, despite his failings, I’d been defending him to my friends, saying that he was making all the right noises, was loyal to the club, scored quite a few goals and could still contribute to the team effort substantially even when he wasn’t playing particularly well. Then he comes along and embarrasses the club and the fans and the manager for a bit of dosh. What happened to all those “United til I die”-type statements? I suppose we should have seen it coming with the “once a blue, always a blue” rubbish. A zebra doesn’t change its spots.

And now he’s managed to get the club to commit to a hugely expensive contract. That’s certainly going to help the club’s bank balance and its ability to pay for good players to join us. Yup, Wayne bloody Rooney, always in it to help the club win trophies by earning himself a solid £180000 every week.

You know what I’d like? I’d like to see him sold in January or June for a nicely inflated sum of money, say maybe £100m, and good riddance. At least with the 5-year contract on the table the club can take its time for a buyer rich enough to take this mercenary, greedy-guts slimeball on board.

While he’s a United player, I’ll cheer his every goal, but I won’t be sorry to see the back of him when he does leave.

  85. CedarsDevil says:

Relieved its over? YES Will I ever feel the same about Rooney? NO

Something feels wrong with all of this, I do think there is a LOT we do not know….

  86. Jeet says:

@Walter Mitty: Zebras have stripes, leopards and dalmatians have spots LOL

  87. willierednut says:

If Rooney signing a new deal was the answer, then what was the question?

  88. Corea says:

I am a selfish tosser. Perhaps i should fuck off from this blog.

  89. Walter Mitty says:

Well done me, mixing my metaphors (zebras and spots?). That’s what I get for not proofreading.

Anyway, I think I agree most with Denton Davey, but as long as Rooney’s a United player he’ll have my grudging support. The squad now is good enough to win a few things as long as the defence wakes up a bit more and stops gifting all those ridiculous goals. We’ve got game winners on the flanks (Nani), up front (Rooney, Berbatov, Macheda even), and proven defenders at the back, and we’re unbeaten this season.

What’s important now is Manchester United and not the mercenaries among the team. We can worry about all the transfer bullshit when the transfer window rolls along.

  90. CedarsDevil says:

    @ Walter Mitty

    Good post mate, agreed………..

  91. Gee says:

Everyone who is slating Rooney will be sucking his length if he bags a last minute winner against the Bitters in the derby LOL.

I dont like what Rooneys done AT ALL but I support Utd and any player that pulls on our shirt. I’ve slated, abused and wished for players to leave Utd or be dropped, Keane, Scholes, Fletcher, and sometimes even Sir Ryan Giggs to name a few, but they won me over time and again and Rooney will do the same over time with us all. So at the mo he is no ‘El Blanco Pele’ but in time he will prove himself to us all again and we will love him.

And if you dont agree you are lying to yourself!!

  92. slim says:

better Rooney be our tosser than man city’s tosser. It would have looked bad if he went to shitty, i said in a previous post that perception counts for a lot in the game and it would have looked bad and felt sick. Personally i hope he really apologized to the team and go about his business as usual and that they take to him. Its obvious he hasn’t been acting like a dick for long, so at least we know when we chanting for him his heart was still here. Glad i don”t have to see him for 3 weeks thought. It’ll be good if Chica and berba can click and make it more difficult for Rooney to get in, no reason why we should make it easy for him. Let the thought swell in head that we just may do well without him

  93. willierednut says:

    Gee – True that.

  94. Sharath says:

Well, I really dont blame him completely for the mess, actually what is the intention of Green and gold campaign? Its just he had felt that future is not bright under the hands of Glazers, inspite of posting record profits if the club records loss and 80 million pounds of Ronaldo’s money clueless, what are you going to expect.

He never came to United because of history, he came here to win trophies if Glazers dont clean the accounts no other world class players will land here :( .

  95. bigphil2003 says:

Given he is out for three weeks it will be very interesting to see how the fans react when he does return. Opinions can change a lot in three weeks. Somethings for sure though, he needs ti get his form back soon or the fans will (rightly) give him gyp, which will only set him back further. Im torn on this, he needs to know how we feel, but not if its gonna be to the detriment of the team.
I went for option 3 btw.

  96. Red Typhoon says:

I believe that the boy has made a mistake. The reason for the mistake is his fuck all agent, Mr. Stretford. he’s only young. I really believe he made an honest mistake coupled with bad advice. I just feel different right now knowing that rooney is staying. I don’t know what to feel yet. Time will heal i guess. he’s just got to make sure he does his best to win us, the fans, over again.

Weird few days. I actually felt sad watching us play against bursaspor the other day.

  97. Fred says:

Calm down, Corea. No-one said that. Don’t you go anywhere, pal. :-)

  98. Gee says:

    @ Walter Mitty

Not being funny mate but when Messi and Ronaldo are off form they are none existent during the game (at least Rooney tries to get into the game when he’s playing shit), Maradona had a fair few off days as well, trust me, unfortunately I’ve only seen footage of the great Pele but I can pretty much say without a doubt he had bad games as well. The problem with comparing players you dont see play every week or from history to our own players is you only see the great things these players do and not the bad games or bad decisions they make in a match!! I know for example that Ronaldo didnt set the world alight every game he pulled on our famous shirt, even when he was the best in the world. Think about it mate.

  99. Alom says:

Unhappy.. i wish we sold him..
on the other hand there is no denying his talent..
he will have to do a lot of win the fans over.. but i dont think we can ever forgive him for this..
and he must NEVER become our captain after this..

i cant believe im gona quote mark lawrenson but
“Manchester United been here a long time before Wayne Rooney and they’ll be here a long time after he leaves”
is somethin he said onn BBC yesterday.. probably the smartest things he has ever said but i just wanted to put that there for the fans/people who think “without Rooney Manchester United are finished”

like i said there is no denying his talent.. but Fergie knows what to do when talent like that leave!!

  100. Zulu-Malta says:

I still believe that Wayne will go this coming summer.
This was an exercise to keep his value high. The Glazers will be delighted to receive some $ 100 million for him and then we’ll sign another Bebe’ so that his wage will be 10,000 quid a week !

  101. user404 says:

a “fuck him” choice would have been the most appropriate lol

but if we have to be reasonable im going for 4. i’ll forgive him eventually but i certainly wont forget this episode.

  102. Fze123 says:

TBH I fully expected him to sign a new contract. The club were always going to offer him one, so when he is fucked off in the summer we recieve a large amount of money. His transfer fee is now much bigger. And he will be sold. I would bet my life on it. No way will Fergie keep him here. I am not happy he will now most certainly be playing. He has disrespected the club, Fergie, his teammates and fans. Quite frankly he no longer deserves to wear our shirt. I don’t know what the fuck I am going to do if he scores. His presence will be cancerous. There will be tensions in the dressing room. There will be a large chunk of our fans giving him abuse on the pitch. What the fuck is going to happen over the next few months? I would rather he refused to sign the contract so he’s shown the door in Jan. I cannot stand the sight of the cunt anymore. I really can’t come to terms with this, what a ridiculous and disgusting saga this has been.

  103. Little Red Ant says:

“Ferguson told Rooney he was in danger of making the biggest mistake of his professional life but it was only when the Glazers agreed to increase the amount of money on offer to the footballer of the year that he changed his mind” – says it all really !!!!

  104. Corea says:

I will get myself one additional beer and i will be back because like aig i can’t help myself but come here. :-D
err, Fred, welcome back, matee ;)
Portsmouth on the brink of liquidation and we are here desperate for Rooney not to go to Citeh. Shit happens…

  105. shebangsthedrums says:

I chose option 3,but not quite sure how I feel, happy to keep a quality player, angry that it came to this. I’ve always maintained that I’ll support any player, good or bad if they’re in a Utd shirt and they give their all.

  106. Balaji Sivaraman says:

There are two of us (Balaji) here. :P

3rd Choice for me. I think uruval had a pretty decent assessment there. Yes, he has been coerced into saying all those things but HE did choose to say it. So, that makes it inexcusable and he is still saying that he has been guaranteed that we will turn up the goods meaning he is still staying on conditionally. So, I will support him because he wears Manchester United colors but nothing more and nothing else. I will not support him as a player or a person from now onwards, simple as that.

  107. willierednut says:

    http://www.newsnow.co.uk/A/453024839?-11193

David Gill has had his say.

  108. Devil310 says:

Thinking very outside the box here…

What if this whole thing was a plot between Rooney and Ferguson to put pressure on the Glazzers about investing more in the club?

I’m just trying to make sense of all this and playing devil’s advocate here, but putting all passion, frustration and disappointment aside….we know that what Wayne said was a valid point, even though it might be a sour pill to swallow.

But truth be told, our squad at the moment isn’t as strong as it was 2 years ago when we had Ronaldo, Tevez and Hargreaves (fit). Plus, Giggs, Scholes and Rio aren’t getting any younger and we know how much help we need in the middle (offensively and defensively).

  109. willierednut says:

I chose option 10, Fuck off City!!

  110. bigphil2003 says:

Gee – cant say i’ve ever wanted Giggs or Scholes to leave the club. I’m not the only one either. Probably am the only one that would say that about Fletch though!

  111. willierednut says:

Devil310 – Get your own conspiracy theories lol.

  112. CedarsDevil says:

    Sir Alex = Pure Genius

1 – He ended the saga super quick
2 – If we are to sell Rooney in the summer than it will be for crazy money

  113. Long John O'Shea says:

    None of the above,

    He should of being sacked

  114. redguy says:

Whatever happens, all i want is United to get the best possible!!!!! UNITED FOREVER!!!

  115. Roast rat for Sunday lunch says:

Once a scouser, always a rat eating, bin dipping, cunt.

I think SAF cooked this up due to the dippers and the amount of press their championship outfit and their yanks out/yanks in crap received over the previous week and he couldn’t hack them having all the limelight.

Anyways… Let’s smash some clay heads on Sunday and get an away win.

  116. RedAllTheWay says:

@WalterMitty, ii fully agree with your post, but jush one thing, you say Messi and Ronaldo don’t get on to the “scandal sheets” unlike Wayne, but seriously, thats because they’re in Spain. Ronaldo had a son with a prostitute in America. If that was Wayne . . .

  117. Alex says:

    So many hypocrites!

I will suppport this… I will cheer that…. But never forget! Bullshit.

Make up your minds. People make mistakes, hes signed, hes United, I suppot him!

    Long live Sr Alex

  118. Red or Dead says:

I’m with fred cheeky little so and so has splattered us all over the show and given those cockneys, scouse and blue meths 5 minutes of bliss. I say make him earn his way back into the team proper and not let him in on his name alone cause he’s been shit recently.

  119. fairuzaMUFCTID says:

I’d ship him out to Spain or wherever once he questioned our ambition in winning trophies. He’s a daft cunt that’s all. My respect isn’t there anymore Roo.

  120. SuperFletch says:

Sorry but you must be pretty fickle to forgive the cunt now. All ive seen on here over the past couple of days is forget about him, he’s past it anyway, scouse bastard etc etc. The lad’s a brillaint player but id rather have one Park over ten Rooneys. Personally dont think he should stick a red shirt on again. It might do some reds a world of good not winning anythin for a couple of seasons anyway. People forget how lucky you are to support united!

  121. Corea says:

@Alex – lol, we have a lot of interesting and intellegent people out here, mate. But we are just people.

  122. RedScot says:

@Willie i choose option 12….. You want the telephone number of his hooker?

  123. Fred says:

The mother of Ronnie’s son is a waitress, not a prostitute. She was a surrogate, i.e. Ronnie paid her to have his baby with the agreement that she would have no further part in the child’s life. Very strange goings on. What on Earth was Ronnie thinking?

  124. willierednut says:

Anyone listening to talksport? Collymore has called out Rio, for something Rio said on twitter.

  125. Gee says:

    @ bigphil2003

Just to explain that abit mate, when Scholes first got into the starting eleven (way back) I really didnt rate him at all, as with Fletch it took him a good few seasons to convince me of his ability (although have met him many times and he is an absolute gent as well as a Legend to me now), with Giggs it was a couple of seasons ago and I thought it was his time to call it a day mate.

My point is that we all might think Rooneys a dick, a whore, a mercenary, etc….but it will pass and if he plays his best and hits the form of last year we will all forgive him, I dont care if you like him as a person, thats different but as a player he will return to worship status.

  126. Dave Mack says:

    Good Post …URVA187 16:56

I particularly like the point about MUST having egg all over their faces as the came out in support of Rooney not signing due to lack of transfer funds from the Glazers etc. Now that Rooney has signed and paid tribute to the part the owners played they’ve really been shafted!!

Serves them right for trying to take advantage of the situation to advance their own agenda.

    Fergie’s a genuis!

    LU – IFIT

  127. RedAllTheWay says:

Fred, oh right, my bad. but still, the stick and abuse that would be dished out if that was any English player is almost unthinkable tbh

  128. Devil310 says:

    @Fred

It’s either #1- him not wanting to ever get into a custudy blattle with her, where he could eventually loose and have to support her for 18 years….or

    2) He’s gay

  129. Colbert says:

I find it amazing that Collymore has a job, let alone that someone lets him pass judgment on other people. He’s a prick, a pervert, an abuser of women and an opportunistic idiot who would say anything to promote himself and his pitiful career. Fuck him.

  130. redevil forever says:

everyone deserves a second chance guys and until tyhe prostitute scandal i always respected this guy and he always gave his 100 per cent for the club open your hearts guys

  131. RedScot says:

Although when he was giving the interview on MUTV he clearly nearly said on several occasions I wanted assurances that the squad would be strengthened.
Anyway that was not him speaking, his words,Paul stretford had his hand up his@ss operating him like a puppet.

  132. Red or Dead says:

I’ve got a bad feeling what collymore said was probably true but that don’t take away from the fact that he’s a sad dogging twat.

  133. united.george says:

@willierednut – below is what Rio said on twitter…..

What does stan collymore know…he’s talking like what he thinks is the gospel truth. For some1 who “loves the game” soo much NOW where was his love for the game when he was a player playing the game???

  134. Gee says:

    @ Devil310

LOL thats exactly what me and a few mates were saying last night, what if SAF has had a word and told Rooney to kick off so the Glazers have to release more money for players!!

  135. RxDevil says:

My apologies if this has already been said… 117 comments was a few too many to browse through and I wanted to put this out there:

First off, the events of the last few days have screwed with my emotions to the point that I’m quite sure I’ll be needing a prescription for Lithium. That being said, I can’t help but wonder if this whole thing may have been a brilliant ploy to elicit a stronger presence for United in the transfer market. Yeah, it goes without saying that Wazza ultimately netted a far better salary as a result of all this sh*t so I wouldn’t exactly call him Rooney Christ. Still, if part of his contract is some sort of requirement for the club to bring in more high-profile players, could it be that Roon sacrificed his reputation with the fans in order to get us one of the two things (the other being the Glazers out) we’ve desired most in the last couple years?

Maybe I’m crazy, but I suppose we’ll just have to see.

  136. Blue says:

    Now then…..

I’ll bet some of you are feeling a right prick now ?

I read (with hilarity) some of the ‘scouse vermin’ , ‘scouse bastard’ , ‘ nothing scouser’ comments.
What now? All of a sudden he’s not ‘scouse vermin’ again? you fickle idiots.

Good luck to him and all that. But some of you should hang your heads in shame.

  137. united.george says:

I choose option 11, he will play the remainder of the season wearing an actual Shrek mask.

Any thoughts on who starts sunday against stoke?

  138. willierednut says:

Well, collymore has said he’ll meet Rio anywhere he wants, to sort there differences out. Fight!!

  139. Colbert says:

    @Gee

    Complete fantasy, man.

  140. mattbw7 says:

Collymore is an empty vessel pay no heed of him.

OK Rooney, you immature, easily led idiot, grow up you childish fuck, accept your 160k per week, play for UTD till you can’t play anymore and you might get me to like you again.

(Still thinks he’s the best player in the prem, Twat)

  141. willierednut says:

Blue – You’re right. What was the songs City fans used to sing about Tevez?

  142. RedScot says:

Probably in a very dark carpark in the countryside.

  143. Alex says:

@Corea – We are just people!? What does that mean. Doesnt stop them being hypocritical and full of it.

  144. mattbw7 says:

Blue says: nothing at all, nothing at all, nothing at all.

Where you there last night you fucking plank! Jeez 5500 poles to help fill your ground

  145. Red or Dead says:

I hope Rio bumps into him in a car park(while he’s doggin) and kicks the shit out of him

  146. Blue says:

Blue – doesn’t just mean Man City you fucking pricks – LOL!!!!!! Ther are better team sin Blue, one of them down the M62 ………….

OMG!! Some of you Stretford End mugs are fucking priceless.

What’s that about City fans being ‘bitter’…………….

  147. orez says:

Not forgiven and not forgotten and the reason is that I still believe he is overrated. He was our best player last year, but during all this time he only had 1 close to great season. After all the support that the club and the supporters showed to him, through all this time, he was ready to put us all into the dirt, which he did, for 20-40 K extra a week. These cunt can’t be trusted and he better not dare to kiss the badge or something of that sort. I think we should have sold him. He is not worth the trouble. Ronaldo was worth it. He was one of a kind, but Rooney is not worth it. To all people who say that Ronaldo was not a hero, I say that compare to Rooney, he should be considered legend. Never lied, kissed the badge. Always honestly said that his dream is in Real. Never pushed to leave and when he did, he left for his dream team and we get 80 mil. The fat bastard considered leaving for City. For fucking CITY!!!! After kissing the badge, talking about the love of his life, milking the supporters of their emotions and being “out of form” 50% of his time in UTD, these cunt desrespected the club and the manager and his fellow teamates for some extra money. Some say that this is how footballer is now, but I don’t agree. Kaka, Messi, Ronald and many others who accomplished much more are not like that.

We should have sold him, but SAF kept him, so it’s fine. We should not boo him, but he should not get anything extra from us either.

  148. united.george says:

@Blue- this is for you. Now go away please.

    Yo listen up
Heres the story about a little guy that lives in a blue world
And all day and all night and everything he sees is just blue like him
    Inside and outside
Blue his house with a blue little window and a blue corvette
And everything is blue for him and his-self
And everybody around cuz HE AINT GOT NOBODY TO LISTEN.

blue da ba dee da ba di

  149. mattbw7 says:

There are no other teams of consequence that play in blue apart from City or do you claim some sort of rivalry because even if you are Chelsea you are comments are still vacuous

    Again blue nothing at all

  150. RedScot says:

Blue can I ask why you feel the need to come onto a United blog and generalise that everyone is ” you fucking pricks”?

  151. Gee says:

    @ Colbert

Sorry pal you best mates with SAF then yeah LOL!! Fact is no one on here knows exactly what happened and unless your Coleens revenge shag probably never will LOL!!

No mate, all I was saying was I thought it was funny that something me and my mates talked about just last night (trying to get our heads round the whole fucking drama) has popped up on here from somebody else trying to make sense of it all!!

But fantasy?? I think not, SAF always thinks outside the box pal!!

  152. Blue says:

  156. RxDevil says:

oops, just realized my idea was basically what Devil310 was getting at… that’s what I get for reading ~30 posts and jumping to the comment box.

So yeah, how about those conspiracy theories…good stuff

  157. rachreddevil says:

evening guys. i am genuinely glad he has decided to stay. he now knows what it takes to be a united player and a man something called humilty. he’s only 24 and he obviously made a mistake. i think a lot of our fans have had the same concerns as he has over the years even before he came along. i really don’t think every man united was totally on board with the kids of the 90′s i bet some fans raised eyebrows wen we bought ole. its ok to have doubts but the most thing to think about is he has commited himself now.

hes a great player and now i think he’s finally grown up fergie even said it today that it takes a good person to apoligise. i think we shud cheer him even if its to spite city

    manchester united will never die

  158. Gee says:

    @ Blue

LOL Didn’t you used to have a talented young lad that left for a BIG club, oh yeah Rooney!! Wrap up Rodwell for us mate, we’ll pick him up in June/July!!

    YOU ARE OUR FEEDER CLUB!!

  159. Colbert says:

    @Gee

It’s just not likely at all is what I’m saying. Nothing suggests this happened. Rooney and Fergie aren’t actors who act out little manuscripts.

  160. Corea says:

@Alex – we are humans. the wrong choice of word for me. you got it. we are humans and we are hypocrites sometimes, we are selfish, we are egoists. that’s life. i am already aware of the shit i am in so no disillussion for me. It’s just that not everyone of us realizes that. Everything is relative.

  161. Yoshita says:

5th choice!! I always loved him and I always will! He’s my fave player and am glad to see him back in my fave club! Always knew he would stay! If Sir Alex is happy with him, we should all be too and he’ll help us in the title race along with Berba! We’ll be invincible yayyyy! & I still Believe!! <3

  162. RedScot says:

@Gee nah we wont mate he is on a five year contract and we are busted.
    But wishfull thinking. lol

  163. Gee says:

    @ Colbert

Like I say SAF thinks outside the box, and we will never know.

  164. RedScot says:

Thinking outside the box, what the fuck is this sudoko?

  165. Colbert says:

    @Gee

    You’re an idiot.

  166. Gee says:

    @ RedScot

Its banter to piss the Toffee popper off mate, I dont even rate Rodwell lol!!

  167. mattbw7 says:

Dear Blue I said even if you are Chelsea, thereby indicating that even if you are a fan of the most succesful team in to play in Blue in recent years your comments are still of no consequence furthermore as you wish to turn the identity of your support into a guessing game then it says quite a bit about your shallowness and I suppose whatever club it is you support all your players have always been totally loyal.

  168. Walter Mitty says:

I tend to agree that he should be given a second chance, but only insofar as he is a player and a player for Manchester United. Ultimately that’s what matters, and if he scores the Premiership-winning goal against Chelsea this season then fair play to him, he’s a United player and all credit to him for helping United retrieve the title from the Rent Boys. But that doesn’t mean I’ll think highly of him as a person. He’ll still be a mercenary and a hypocrite, albeit one who can play a good game of football. (And a good game of squeeze-a-higher-salary-out-of-your-club)

In this article on the Run of Play about Marlon King, Shane Murray writes:

Moreover, Coventry fans ought, in reality, to be able to distinguish between the man and the football player, and know that liking and endorsing one does not mean liking or endorsing the other. While many seem to think that cheering a Marlon King goal is morally abhorrent because of his criminality, that opinion doesn’t hold up to scrutiny.

The same applies to Rooney. If he plays well for United, I’ll support Rooney the football player. But if he drags the team down with him or tries to drag the club’s name through the mud again, I won’t. Regardless, I neither like nor endorse Rooney the man.

@Gee You have a point there. I still think Rooney doesn’t play well often enough to be considered a great player, though. Good, yes. Great, no. Not yet, at any rate. In any case, I’d rather United rely on a squad with many good players than on the skills of a single legend.

@RedAllTheWay Yes, that’s a problem with the often-hysterical media, both in the UK and the US. There’s something about most of the media in the UK when it comes to the national football team which turns them into slavering, gibbering halfwits, even if they’re half-decent journos normally.

  169. RedScot says:

@ Gee I Know mate I was just geeing you along, no harm meant

  170. willierednut says:

    Maybe he’s just blue?

  171. Gee says:

    @ Colbert

Sorry what you fucking gimp!! do you know SAF, Rooney or for that fact anyone at Utd. Fucking muppet, like I said it was something me and my mates were talking about, I didnt say it was fact it was a comment!! Just because you dont agree doesnt mean I’m an idiot, in fact you will find that because you dont agree, and because of that you think I’m an idiot, that you are exactly what you are accusing me of being!! YOU FUCKING PLANK!!

  172. Costas says:

Who in the blue hell is Blue?

  173. Colbert says:

    @Gee

I don’t have to know them to realise that what you said was pure shit. Just wishful thinking with no foundation in reality. You don’t have to get so upset just because I voiced my opinion. It’s just the internet, man. Your theory was nonsense, and you seemed to believe in it yourself so I called you an idiot. Idiot.

  174. Doghouse says:

I said back when he was whoremongering that as long as his off-field shenanigans didn’t hurt his performances on the pitch or the club itself then I could tolerate it, but he has hurt the club this time and not been delivering on the pitch. So I’m pissed off.

However, this is Rooney we’re talking about and what do we know about Rooney? We know that he’s got fire in him. Indeed he plays almost at emotional boiling point. He’s angry, always, on the field and clearly off it, and I can imagine this whole mess might well have been something of a Roy Keane style move to shake things up. That’s one possible reason he did this. It would certainly explain some of the craziness of the move, because I mean if it was just about the money it was bordering on career suicide. He’d have slashed his transfer value for a start, that’s a few million quid he’d have wanted if he really was acting on his financial brain (though he may still go later).

But past the speculation and so on, what matters to me still, as it always does, is what happens on the field and if this public insanity has done anything to revitalise the team, to shake them out of the doldrums or reignite that spark that seems to have been missing, then so be it. And maybe there have been rows, tantrums and division, but if the lads put that behind them we could see this team rise to a new level. I mean how many times have we said about complacency being a big problem this season? Loads, but how complacent did we feel as fans this week? How complacent do you think Evra felt when he’d basically been called out for under-performing by a team mate? That team now has something to prove, to themselves and each other.

He might look a cunt for having done it, but I think it’s possible, intentionally or not, that Wayne Rooney might just have saved our season.

Tough away fixture at Stoke and I tell you what I think if Rooney plays we will absolutely destroy them. I think we’ll come down on top of them like the wrath of God. I can see it in my mind’s eye clear as you like, team playing that proper stylish, aggressive, merciless, Cantona-style football we know and love. When this team has a point to make you don’t want to be the poor bastards getting made an example of.

Or I could be wrong and it could all go bad. Either way I feel like we’re more likely to win the title now than we were before this started.

  175. RedScot says:

@Costas Hi mate I think he is an Everton fan or so he said.

  176. aimanunited says:

It’s not easy to forgive him after all the bullshit, he really needs to do his talking on the fucking pitch immediately. What I want to know is how other United players feel after he signed the contract, do they have a respect towards him and can they regain harmony in the dressing room back? Fuck NO!!!

  177. anotnac says:

At least its not Tevez all over again

  178. Costas says:

    @RedScot

Hi mate. Does such a thing exist?

  179. Rai says:

Eddiemunro – It’s been 5 years and I still hate Rio, no difference in this case…won’t forgive won’t forget.

  180. Colbert says:

    @Doghouse

That would be nice if it happened, but Rooney is injured. Supposedly.

  181. Rob(son) says:

At least the Club is now in the driving seat. SAF can still dump him in a year or two.
I’m ambivalent about Rooney. More importantly, I hope that this his signing means that SAF has funds to bring in some players.

Of course, if Rooney goes on from strength to strength we’ll likely all turn back into mugs.
This is a new era. We must hold lightly ANY demonstrations of loyalty and wait until the end of an individual’s story before assessing his contribution to Manchester United.

  182. RedScot says:

@Costas apparently so although thankfully we dont see to mant in these parts!
Costas I am asking a inquisitive question i have never seen your mate GHTT, on the blog since my return, maybe on holiday mate?

  183. Costas says:

    @RedScot

Actually can’t help with that. He hasn’t been here a lot in recent days. That goes before the whole Rooney saga started. Maybe he is taking a break.

  184. shebangsthedrums says:

All this has just reminded me of how much i’ll miss Sir Alex when he finally goes. He is my all time hero of any sort, I’ve been following United since 1988, so he’s all I’ve ever known. Fuck Rooney, what will we do without Fergie?

  185. RedScot says:

@Costas Cheers hope he is well a lot of his posts used to make me laugh.

  186. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

Good news hes signed, now we can get a proper price for him without the problems of loosing him too cheaply.
Well done Sir Alex, fuck off rooney.

  187. Gee says:

    @ Colbert

Read back through my posts you fucking sperm!! Understand them and store them, I never stated my comments were accurate, and the fact is I made those comments because somebody else had said something that I had discussed with friends when trying to get our heads round the shock. I pointed out to that person we had been down the same train of thought, then you popped up and you got hooked and reeled in because you don’t know when somebody is taking the piss!! You then decide to insult me, you don’t fucking know me and if you did you wouldn’t fucking mouth off, and yes this is the Internet so thank yourself lucky you cock!!

  188. portugueseprincess says:

I will never forgive nor forget. And he got a pay rise on top of disrespecting club and fans. Greedy cu**!

  189. Costas says:

    @RedScot

Hope so too. With all the craziness over the last few days I didn’t notice he was missing.

  190. Bashy says:

Coleen forgave you Roo but, we wont

  191. RedScot says:

@Goat Hi mate, Hope Sweden is well, I agree. I would like to see him sold in the next two years.
I personally think there is a very dangerous precedent been set here. That a player/ agent can hold the Club to ransom.
To up there already humongous salary.

  192. Colbert says:

    @Gee

Fair enough. Still a silly theory though.

    Kiss and make up?

  193. Gee says:

You know I miss the old days of this site, I really do!!

  194. RedScot says:

@ Costas I know what you mean, I felt the blog had turned in a war zone.
A lot irrational thinking and beating of chests. I guess its called passion and fandom.
But in all fairness some effing brilliant posts throughout the blog in my opinion.

  195. ang says:

so disappointed. i want him gone.

  196. Gee says:

    @ Colbert

Well I suppose we can make up seeing as your a fellow Red!!

  197. Dan_Utd says:

I imagine I feel a bit like Coleen, betrayed but it won’t stop me from yelling when he bangs it in.

  198. Costas says:

    @RedScot

True. Some very good posts about the Rooney situation and what football has turned into. I’ve been at ROM for 2 years and I’ve never seen anything like what we saw this week. 2 threads went over the 1000 comment limit. Scott should make Wayne a statue, lol.

  199. RedScot says:

Bangs it in a fruedian slip me thinks!

  200. Colbert says:

Yeah, me too. You tell’em, sister! Tell that mean Internet!

  201. RedScot says:

I saw the Threads Costas that went to over 1000 posts and commented on them but like everyone’s else they tend to slip into oblivion. Its great to see the Blog so popular though. That pleases me.

  202. Colbert says:

Oh fuck!! Didn’t see your last comment. Disregard my last…erm.. statement then. Just like Rooney and Fergie, we’ll make peace (it may be an uneasy peace that could crack at any moment, but peace nonetheless).

  203. willierednut says:

Kiss and make up? What is this the golden girls?

  204. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    RedScot
Couldn’t agree with you more mate. Sweden is cold thanks for asking and i long to go back home, boo hoo.
In regards to your comments about a freudien slip you are wrong. Banging it in is neanderthal, its a knee trembler. A freudien slip is a thin lacy garment that barely covers the buttocks and bolox and looks like a painting smock. Incidently im wearing one now.

  205. Colbert says:

I was going for more of a Desperate Housewives sort of thing, but Golden Girls is good also.

  206. RedScot says:

    @ Goat….. Classic Classic Goat……… roflmao
You fucking kinky bastard, just spare us any details involving the use of Chickens or wildfowl

  207. willierednut says:

Ah, Eva longoria, or something like that.

  208. RedScot says:

@United4 eva, what do you think of the link you have just posted on the blog mate?

  209. Colbert says:

    Thanks for that, good article.

  210. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    @RedScot
for your eyes only, lol. Im a vegetarian and tonight Im having egg plant.

  211. RedScot says:

@ Goat yes we will pretend that no one else is watching.
An Egg plant, hmmmm thats an Aubergine right, or is it some code for a transplant.
I will play along as long as there are no tongues involved and deffo no taking it up the shitter Ok.

  212. United says:

Totally wish he would have left, good money, pay down some debt, its all we can hope for,

  213. Xyth says:

I have no doubt that had he intended to leave abroad, Fergie would not have bothered stopping him. But going to Shitty was another matter and as it proved in the end had to be stopped at all costs.

I will need a lot of convincing to forgive him, especially after that idiotic statement before an important match. For his own and fans sake I hope that he comes out clean. Sacking Paul fucking Stretford would be a good first step towards that.

  214. unitedibk says:

its a disgrace what he has done for the club and for his teammates.
But Rooney will never be like garry neville or ryan giggs, who supported united in childhood. he supported everton as a child, but he came to united to win, but thats no the point.
we loved wayne from the first second, not because his relaltion to united but for his style to play.
he plays “attackattackattack” and “never give up” football, in united style. and he will do it again, for this type of playing i love him.
and i cant forgive him now or in next month, but i will shout his name in the satdium, because this helps him, the team and the whole squad to perform better.
Like sir alex say: he want us fans to stand behind every single member of this team, we have to attack now to win this 19th premier league title.
and what a story it will be at the end if wen win with wayne this title and more.

  215. RedScot says:

Spot on get a new agent, that has some integrity. Personally Xyth I just wanted the maxium amount of “Free” cash for him. He is totally off form, not been an Icon at the Club since his arrival.
He to me looks overweight, a yard slower than last season.
He should be a professional and act like one at all times.
I hope Sir Alex has had a word in his shell like and told him in no uncertain tems, be loyal to your wife and family and Manchester United

  216. Zelh says:

United4eva – great article you’ve got there. thanks

  217. United4eva says:

    @RedScot

Just think how hollow the Steve Gerrard, Gerrard song is gonna sound now. He kisses the badge on his chest then puts in a transfer request…? F-n joke make. We’re a laughing stock. Rooney and Mr Season ticket holder lifelong red Stretford have made us into a f-n laughing stock.

That BS Statement they put out on Wednesday, two hours before a European game, rubbished the players, rubbished the manager and rubbished the club and what was the punishment? A wage structure smashing pay rise. What a laugh. Are we desperate or are we Man U-f’n'ited? People talking about how this shows we can still compete? What Man Utd have to prove they can f’n compete with we’re oh so f’n MASSIVE Man City? Is that what we’re reduced to now? The same sort of small minded nonsense that Gary Cook and co come out with whenever they offer some journeyman a massive deal?

To try and use the fans hatred of Glazer to squeeze as much money out of the club as possible I’m afraid is disgusting. I’m guessing Glazer’s alright now he’s signed off your £180k a week salary then Wayne, eh?

What does this say to the dressing room? When Keano slated the side publicly he got moved on. Next year we added Carrick got told we were gonna be licking Chelsea’s boots by Christmas and won the league. Thats Man Utd. We don’t need to make statements. We’re United, we’re above it. When we’re attacked we pull together, we go forward as one: United.

At least thats how it used to be…

Maybe I’m too old fashioned and I can’t get used to football being all about money. But to me any lasting affection I ever had for Rooney is gone. I respect him he’s a great player but thats it. Even if he spends his career here you know…this changes everything.

  218. Colbert says:

Good post. A lot of valid points. So disappointed with Wayne and his appalling conduct.

  219. RedScot says:

@ United4 eva. Exactly cant disagree with a word you write.
I cant particularly write in truth probably like you “maybe iam too old fashioned” other than from reading United books about the history of United. I just felt he corrupted what has been built through many many years.
I have read many books about Sir Matt as an example he would be horrified at this betrayal of the United way. Its disgusting in retrospect.
I agree I cant see him the same either. Honestly I aint no prude I defended him in a way through the hooker saga but the belittling his team mates and Sir Alex stunk…..fullstop.
    Cheers mate great response

  220. RedScot says:

Good night Reds. Goat you behave now with that Egg plant, the mind boggles what you could be planning to do with that tonight! lmao

  221. United says:

I’m positive he is going in a year or two, at least he had the decency to sign the contract to make sure we get good money

  222. RedMan says:

Fuck You Rooney! Fuck you cunt!

  223. sickboy says:

he’s with with biggest club in the world, ok he dont belive they’ve got the same ambition as him and thats a problem. but most problems can be erased with the application of money. you dont say the shite he said and then change your mind over night, he’s had it with utd anyone who thinks different is a mug if he left in theese circumstances utd would have been finished no big names would have joined, now fergus can get a decent fee for him. he’s going to be sold, if not in january but in the summer, perhaps he changed his mind when real said no signings in january,

  224. willierednut says:

United – There’s no doubt he had a move to City lined up, them fuckers tapped him up.

  225. Gandalf says:

#3 for me… SAF said that ROoney has apologized to him and team and will do so to fans… but he never did say sorry to the fans. I suppose he feels entitled to throw whatever tantrum coated as assurances and what not to get a better contract. That’s a bit sad. Wonder how much has this sad saga has earned him!

It is interesting though that Rooney refused to sign since August and everything has now blown out and was finalized so quickly in a few days. It probably indicates Rooney was always willing to sign… just wanted to get as much as possible. may be.

Anyway, now its over… or at least until Jan window who knows.

Now lets concentrate on football and the important game on Sunday.

  226. TheRadLegion says:

Glad he made up his mind although I lost respect already. As SAF said.. damaga has been done.

  227. Devil310 says:

BLUE is the old man from OLD SCHOOL….lol…”.You’re my boy, blue!!!”

Anyways, he is an Everton fan with bitter feelings about Rooney…and he’s here to moan about the scouse trying to make new friends, I guess

  228. Gee says:

    @ willie

He either had a move lined up or his fucking agent did!! I think Rooney listens to that fat fuck a bit to much, probably why he shags rough as fuck pro’s, coz that twat is there in his ear telling him she’s top notch lol!!

  229. rooney legend says:

fuck you rooney haters!! fuck you!

  230. kev e says:

i don’t know… if it’s all just a scam to get a payrise we’ve all worked at places where that happens… you have to look around to find out what you are worth. the players who stay put and say they are going to never get paid the best wages. the clubs always pay less to those that are already there especially if they think you love the club so much you won’t leave. it’s an opportunity for a club to take the piss and they’ve done exactly what keane had to do back in the day. don’t get me wrong it’s a stupid amount of money but the principle is the same… sooner or later united will have to pay an absolute fortune to somebody in wages to replace scholes or giggs otherwise they’ll go to city or madrid and rooney didn’t want to find himself further down the line with a second rate player earning more than him… after everybody saying he was in the top three players in april he would expect to paid at that level. the problem was that he and his agent are total cocks and fucked the strategy up by going public. once fergie spilt the beans it was all over.

  231. United says:

    @willie

I hope he does go now, 50 million etc, now that his contract is huge, good money, pay some debt down, maybe get a good player

  232. Vim Fuego says:

At the end of the day he’s still young, he has a f*cked up personal life, it all leads to rash decisions. If Rooney comes back from the brink of doom and gloom then good luck to him.

  233. Toms says:

Just found out. I feel really confused..

  234. YorYor says:

What if one day it was revealed that it was all an act to blow away the other personal issues that had been bugging Rooney recently?
Though I concede, it’s quite unlikely.

  235. Sash Sylvarre says:

I like that we still have him.

But I’ll never be able to think highly of him ever again.

  236. drowningboy says:

    Who cares about rooney…or hockey???

    http://slumwords.wordpress.com/2010/09/29/the-new-2/

  237. cantona7 says:

em after deep thinking about conspiracy theory, this is my idea:

    1) SAF, Rooney n David Gill all agreed that the new offer fo Rooney (160k per week) is less than what Rooney deserves as the main player at the biggest club in the world.
    2) But they also knew the *******(put whatever adjectives that you like) owners, will not agree to offer Rooney big money. So Rooney and SAF plans a drama.

Plot 1 of drama) SAF told the media that Rooney is injured.
Plot 2) Rooney contradicts SAF openly to create a situation.
Plot 3) SAF tells the world Rooney wants to leave and how it began from August 14th blah blah blah, the reason will come out from the player himself and he will sit down with David to sort this out as soon as possible. Hidden message to the Glazers: “David and I will decide, you have to agree”
Plot 4) Rooney tells the reason; the club lacks ambition which actually means the club is not doing what the club is supposed to do to achieve their big ambition. Hidden message to the Glazers: “Fans know you are not doing any good for the club”. SAF even told the world later on that there is not a single thing wrong with this club: Stadium, facilities staff players and chairman all very good, SAD mentioned every important aspect EXCEPT the owners!
Plot 5) The Glazers have to agree!

This stunt can only be pulled off with the absolute trust between Rooney and Sir Alex. Rooney risked his career and fan-favour for this, because he trust SAF can sort this out.
Think about it, the picture that Scott posted two days before SAF tells the world that Rooney wanted to leave show no traces of discontent, or an unhappy lad.
All the top managers knew it would come to this: Mourinho, Ancelotti, Gerard Houllier, even Mancini. Maybe only Harry Redknapp was fooled. And Mourinho is using it to his benefit to show that he understands SAF and our club. Maybe SAF is behind this too, because he wants Mourinho to replace him. Wakakakakkakaka.

At the end of the day, the only loser are the Glazers.

  238. Shannon says:

    Great result.

Had Rooney been sold we wouldnt have purchased any player of the calibre of Rooney.

Simple. C Ronaldo money went to the banks.

Fergie… Masterstroke bringing the matter public. Genius.

Lets start fuckin winning games now uh

  239. phunksoul_brother says:

im still surprised and shocked for what happens in the last 48 hours. i always thought wayne would finish his career here.

  240. jespermoses says:

it’ll never bee the same for me.He will go sooner or later and im just hoping we get a decent sum of money for him!

  241. BD says:

Nice to see a couple of you understand the situation properly and aren’t blinkered by ‘hreo worship’.

United4Eva and RedScott have it right.

As for the lovely comments aimed by others at me – gee, thanks. I’m soooo hurt, really, no…honestly… I am……..now go get your Mums top tuck you up in bed and tell you a fairy story about that nice Rooney man who loved his club so much that he had fleece the fans and diss his team mates for 250K a week…….

and they call that girl he slept with a ‘slut’ ???????

  242. swapnil says:

wonder how he plans to return to the dressing room filled with same players whom he called not good enough??

  243. greekmanc says:

i always believed that he will finish not only his carrear but also his life in OT.He broke our heart and wonder returning to the dressing room and to the ground.Only the conspirancy to the Glazers scenario can make us to forgive him and i dont know if i can forget it.Pitty couse every single day we were singing his song on the road,at office,at home.

  244. Rai says:

“I don’t care about Rio, cuz he don’t care about me, all I care about…is watching FC…..”

The same can now be applied to Wayne….

  245. bigphil2003 says:

@Rai – go and watch FC then, cos personally i couldn’t give a fuck about them.

  246. Tomo1982 says:

One thing to consider for all the people saying he is worth the money he demanded and it appears got – this is reportedly £10 million a year, and other players are no doubt going to see this and be disgruntled and start demanding more themselves, and god forbid start behaving in a similar fashion.

The people who are saying he is worth it will be the ones clamouring for big name signatures in January or over the summer – just remember an extra £25 million over the 5 years as well as the £25 million he would have already been earning if the terms were the same is money that will now not be in the pot for new players.

Add to that the other wages that shoot up as a result, and the wage demands that any big name player we show an interest will demand after the precedent set by Rooney and mabe you will understand that is why there was a wage structure in place and accept that we don’t have a billionaire oi;l sheikh at the helm so we need to be realisitc.

Also consider that when the ticket prices go up again.

  247. diouf says:

Let’s hope fergie and Judas Gill transferlists him today, we could really cash in now. I see the pattern from when ronny left, he signed a new deal weeks before he left right? If madrid or bankruptelona bids £70m or more i think we should get rid of the greedy, selfish, horny wayne. Follow me on twitter ;) @jontetk

  248. catotraa says:

Happy cos hes a quality player and I will (if he deserves it, and he is gonna work fucking hard for it!) forgive him sooner or later.

  249. Sir Alex says:

    Definitely option 3 for me.

  250. jesmonta says:

Once he spoke out , he will follow Ronaldo i.e out . I only agree with him ,if he really said that the club lacks ambition lately. Otherwise he has to work harder now to convince me he really loves our Club.

  251. TonyBee says:

OFF TOPIC: Does anyone l know what Rio put on Twitter to annoy the women beating, car park dogging gobshite that is Collibore

  252. willierednut says:

Tony Bee – Rio said Collymore was never in love with football and he hadn’t a clue about what went on with Rooney. Collyflower called out Rio last night on air, be interesting to see what happens next.
