  1. BerbaGod says:

    Hazard ! ;)

  2. Jocke says:

    Modric or Kagawa or Welbeck!

  3. Chicharitoooo says:

    Nani?

  4. mancstan says:

Maybe a bit out there, but do you think offering it to Pogba would be a good move?

  5. Gotta hate Tiny Tears says:

Players make numbers, Numbers dont make players

    20LEgend

  6. Mikael says:

I don’t think we have a #7 at the club right now. In my eyes a #7 should be a leader, not in the Keane or GNev mould but, in the mould of someone who lead by example thank to his displays on the pitch. Becks, Ronaldo and Cantona for example could change a game “just like that” and always worked their asses off (OK, Ronaldo could be a twat sometimes but he never gave up).

Rooney doesn’t want the #7, Nanin isn’t really there in my opinion and even if he was I don’t think he wants it, he’s #17… it’s just how it is. Valencia is a bit to “quiet” for the #7 although I think he’s the closest we’ve got right now.

Let the shirt rest for a season and se if anyone steps up to the plate if we don’t sign a new #7 (whoever that could be)

  7. Zi Indefatigable says:

    MICHAEL OWEN.

  8. Mikael says:

    GHTT: True words!

  9. DerMul says:

Hazard has to be offered the famous shirt to try and lure him to OT.
He has the makings to be a special player.

  10. Sunny says:

Kagawa. Afraid Hazard is lost to the Stockport Money Grabbing Whores.

  11. Robert S says:

    Nani!
He’s got the skill and loves to take on players – that’s what it’s all about with our #7

  12. Zi Indefatigable says:

SIGN RAVEL ON A FREE AND GIVE IT TO HIM.

  13. mancunian__red says:

    Nani .

he brillianty scores and assist in either First /second half of the season . Give him the responsibility .
HE will make the shirt proud .

  14. deanRED says:

Lets bring in a new number 7, the old trafford faithful could really use some early optimism this summer. Hazard running past defenders with the number 7 on his back would be a sight to behold. Valencia does deserve the number but he made his number his own now :)

  15. Zi Indefatigable says:

    SAM JOHNSTONE.

  16. mohsen says:

    Valencia

  17. Zi Indefatigable says:

    MIKE PHELAN.

  18. gge says:

I think it should be a new player who wear it. I vote for gaitan (if it happend) ;)

  19. Gorse Hill Red says:

Tough one, not really anyone other than Rooney (who does not want it) with the class to wear the number 7. Giving it to Owen was puzzling to say the least. There is certainly no Robson, Cantona, Beckam or Ronaldo in the current squad. Wait to see our new signings then decide.

  20. norRed says:

    Emile Heskey! Hehe…

  21. Wisnu Suryadinata says:

Maybe this is a gamble with lots of doubt but I think Kagawa will make this number shine again #7 #Special number

  22. Ji Sung says:

    http://cache1.asset-cache.net/xc/144687713-paul-pogba-and-adnan-januzaj-of-manchester-gettyimages.jpg?v=1&c=IWSAsset&k=2&d=77BFBA49EF8789215AB089EE596C6588C01659EA12C8E1AE96C7A7F4F3A0339A0B29B56B91CEE0BDE30A760B0D811297

    Haha

The lad next to Pogba is Adnan Januzaj…top top young player for the academy with a really bright future. He’s been injured for most of last season. Rated really highly at United…

  23. eden hazard deserve the #7,if only sir alex ferguson would sign him this season....... says:

    Eden hazard is the man

  24. Ji Sung says:

If Hazard signs it’ll be a no brainer in giving him the #7 shirt. If he doesn’t I’d give it to Nani. Or maybe even Young and then give Scholes back his #18 shirt…

  25. salem says:

I think ashley young should get the number 7 and scholes gets 18 back

  26. Kosta says:

Kagawa, if signed or any other terrific signing

  27. kanchelskis says:

    Blates Nani.

  28. Shurik says:

Give it to Berba! Along with the new contract.

  29. Albert Ross says:

“I saw a few days ago two goals in the last minute, 91 and 93. I had a bet that Manchester United would win the league but I lost,” Ronaldo said. “I feel very disappointed because United is still in my heart. I think Manchester United will carry on being king of England in my opinion.”

Turning to his own future, Ronaldo declared:
“The future? Nobody knows. I feel very happy here. It’s a great club, fantastic fans…it’s great. In one year or two you never know. A man’s head is always complicated.”

Not likely perhaps, but not impossible that Ronaldo will be our next No. 7

  30. bigphil2003 says:

Funny that as I look at the poll Nani has 17 votes. Personally I think him and Valencia have already established themselves with their current numbers, the way number 14 will always remind me of Kanchelskis.
I’d like to see Cleverley get the shirt if I’m honest, he’s gonna be a star if he can get over his injuries. If not him then a new signing. On a similar note I hope Welbeck gets the number 9 shirt if Berb is to leave.

  31. VishKaush says:

“No one” is an option that is missing.

  32. Noddy says:

    Hazard!!!! pls fergie buy him!!!

  33. bayoRed says:

    Kagawa!

  34. Dan-young says:

Whats sunny talking about! United are bookies favourites to land hazard. In my opinion because of the amount of times city have made it clearly known they like hazard (and this is before mancini had even met the clubs board to try to see how much money he was aloud to spend, which they have announced can only be managable transfer fees.. Hazards £35 million fee is not so managable) i think its all just a way for them to ride up the price united will have to pay.

I think give welbeck berbatovs number 9, give kagawa 19 and hazard gets 7. Then nathanial clyne number 2 on a free transfer and a cheapish left back that has potential to give evra some competition, my suggestion is aly sissokho from lyon. And the icing on the cake would be modric to play alongside carrick in a 2 man holding midfield formation :) .

I think we need to switch to a 4-2-3-1 which is basically what we have done this season apart from with rooney playing in the middle of the 3 men behind the striker. But having only got like 4 assists all season he would be more dangerous as an out and out striker. And leave it up to nani, kagawa, hazard, young and valencia to battle it out for them 3 places behind rooney.

  35. kungfoocantona says:

    @gorse hill

Agree with you 100% rooney has to b givin it, its a shirt of legends and rooney will certainly fit that mark no doubt about it…..

as for ppl talkin about hazard, seems to me hes already chose citeh as well fergie isnt gona sign both kagawa and hazard is he, so the fact that hes had talks with kagawa tells me he has gave up on hazard… kagawa still might not come as he admitted to speaking with other clubs and he isnt sure yet..would b a good signing i think..despite wat ppl say regarding us finishing level with citeh and scoring 80 odd points, can i just say that means sweet FA as we didnt win the league, are first team is good, but its not great and we all no were we r short, the midfield has been ignored by fergie for somtime and i think he knows now is the time to srengthen it. we need at least 2 central midfielders and a striker especially now owen has left and berba sure to follow… the question is who do we get as i think the days of united goin all out for a player are certainly on hold while the glazier fuckers remain incharge. i dont care who city buy i honestly dont i just care about who we buy and if we buy average young players waiting for them to shine then we will finish below 1st again next year however if we bring in quality, with the likes of kagawa and mvilla in the middle with sum1 like higuin or another proven striker then i think we will b good to go….im just a little worried about the right back slot as fergie changes the team far to much which had led to inconsistancty….i would like to see a good right back signed but asking for 4 quality players to b signed i think is to much to b asked from united theses days….so we shall wait and see what the summer brings, just hope its done b4 the euros and i think fergie knows that all to well

  36. *Undisputed*Rex says:

Eden hazard should be man,if only sir Alex ferguson sign him this season,to the theatre of dearm…

  37. Dolapo says:

Only one man deserves that shirt, and it’s Antonio Valencia. Sight to behold on that wing.

  38. samuel - united WE stand says:

Number should be reserved for an influential attacking winger or midfielder.

  39. Red Mick says:

Kill Uncle Malc, Bring home that boy Ronaldo….. Simple really!!!!

  40. Get javi martinez says:

    Kagawa=13, Hazard=7, javi martinez=8, Luka=20, Welbeck=9

  41. Red Mick says:

Also, i know it’s never going to happen, but i’d love Petrucci to stay injury-free, to go out on loan, to be a huge success (i dont doubt this part IF he stays Injury-free!) and then come back and make it his own!

  42. Iversen says:

Danny! Dont want 200k p/w hazard. Let him go to city and earn even more than that overpaid french lesbian chick currently playing lw.

  43. Keyser Soze says:

    Mario Gotze

  44. rooneyibk says:

give antonio numer 7 and he will play even better!

  45. Albert Ross says:

VishKaush – no one is missing!

  46. Corea says:

Sell Nani. Give nr. 7 to Gaitan, 17 to Young, 18 to Scholes (what’s the point if he plays one more season?), Kagawa doesn’t matter which number.
    :-P

  47. Albert Ross says:

Should we send no one nowhere to find him?

  48. Corea says:

So Gaitan and Kagawa new signings.
Berba staying with Roon, Chicharito, Wellbeck, Berba and Will Keane as forwards!!!

    Sorry for some stupid dreams)))

  49. bigphil2003 says:

Why would Rooney change from 8 to 10 to 7? Completely daft. The number 10 shirt is iconic enough, especially for a striker. Law, Hughes, Teddy, RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUD.

  50. kungfoocantona says:

its ok giving it to valencia but in my opinion the number 7 shirt has always been givin to the game changin star…valencia isnt really a game changer…hes a type of player who u will remember as a good hard workin player but the likes of ronaldo, becks, robson etc..they are remembered as the legends who gave evrything for united and won united games on there own at times…..but i do like valencia just not sure hes a no 7

  51. kanchelskis says:

    @Corea

    Sell Nani?

Do you do crack on a Friday or something?

  52. awinred says:

New signing; or, if not possible:

Valencia, Nani, or maybe Welbeck. Or even Chicharito?

  53. Mikekelly12 says:

Give it Tony V or Cedars!

  54. Myram T Firebucket says:

I’ve been at every home game, which is where the great SAF seems to take most chances with his choice of teams. Anyone who witnessed the midfield pairing of Park and Fabio and the unimpressive Fryers in defence will know that beneath our first team there is little quality. We need a batch of youngsters to make sudden and unexpected progress (unlikely). We need Pogba to stay and continue his promising development (also unlikely). Or we need the Glazers to finance 5 major signings – 2 fbs, 2 mfs, 1gs (very unlikely). Not feeling optmistic.

  55. Albert Ross says:

Jonny Sevens has looked good bringing the ball out of defense, and continuing his runs into the box drawing defenders. He’s been scoring and assisting as well. A natural No. 7 just waiting for his chance to emerge from our shadow defense and light up the midfield.

Give it up for Jonny Sevens, our heaven-sent legend-to-be!

  56. Dan-young says:

I cant understand why everyones saying hazard is a guaranteed signing for city. This summer seems to be a clear out for them. If they dont free up their wage bill and end up making a loss next season then they wont be allowed in european competition the season after cause of financial fair play.

  57. pets says:

Rooney does not like the number, he is better of with what he has, Hazard is not sure of where he wants to play, Nani does not fit in it bse of his selfishness, Velencia is too humble to manage it, I therefore see none taking it up, unless you buy Gareth Bale who is unlikely to ever play for united, PLIZ rest the number till the right player comes for it, its natural, to forced.

  58. iced earth says:

no way hazard will join us it s almost certain he will join shitty
i am not sure we can bring a big fee player,i think we will go for kagawa, clyne, gaitan,i fear fergie don t buy a cm
kagawa number at dortmund is 23,maybe tom will get #7 and let #23 to kagawa

  59. champs 19 says:

edin hazard is a great player, but a bit of an prideful arrogant mug side to him. he knws hes good and that doesnt help so dnt think he deserves no. 7 . . . keep the shirt silent. . . it’ll pick its new wearer. . .

  60. iDontKnowWt2say says:

    Kagawa

  61. JazzyRed says:

    Ray Wilkins!

  62. kanchelskis says:

    pets says:

Nani does not fit in it bse of his selfishness

    Erm… Ronaldo, anyone?

  63. champs 19 says:

a possible transfer target is a dutch striker, not rvp but hes fellow countrymen jean-klass huntelar wht do u think? in addition to him i would get modric (50m is effin steep) and kagwa/hazard and defensively cissokho or jan vertoghen. o yeah! eriksen is another good prospect as well. with these signings mansh-tty r gonna be our bi–es 4 a long time!

  64. Darv3011 says:

well,i think #7 would be perfect for a winger.i dunno….i probably have to agree with most of u guys abt kagawa wearing the famous shirt.

  65. Rufyed says:

Give it RVP or David Villa :)

  66. Marq says:

    Whats with the Hazard obessesion?

  67. bigphil2003 says:

Nani is selfish? The guys with 15 more assists than Valencia in the past 3 years?????

  68. S E 7 E N says:

i wish it could be C.Ronaldo again

  69. kanchelskis says:

    @bigphil2003

This year’s Valencia love-in (don’t get me wrong I fuckin adore the guy), coupled with Nani’s injury, I suspect has led people to forget how fuckin good Nani is. Hope he tears shit up again next season like he did in 2010-11.

  70. CedarsDevil says:

    Tony Montana hands down

  71. CedarsDevil says:

On a serious note, GHTT summed it up best

  72. RPrincz says:

Kindly give the #7 to d glazer family, they ar great game changers FFS!!!

  73. Mikekelly12 says:

Are these people who are saying give it to hazard the same people who were asking whether we should win the league at the etihad or win it early and have a guard of honour at the etihad instead? Hazard can suck my plums! It’s ridiculously apparent that he’s going to city. A player who had agreed to sign for United wouldn’t be coming out with the kind of wanky arsed statements he is and would have been told by Sir Alex to keep shtum! A player who has agreed to sign for city would however come out with wanly arsed statements and would be encouraged to by their cunt of a club. Remember the Dzeko and Aguero etc comments. Fucking small time. So.. Less of the Hazard love in!

  74. aimanunited says:

well, not just no 7, we also going to need new no 9 (or just gave it to danny), new no 8 (midfield playmaker), new no 2 (rafael would do). I don’t want Nani to live in ronaldo’s shadow when given no 7.

  75. red puma says:

howard webb………. the most influencial player we have……. :-P

  76. CedarsDevil says:

    Mike

Well fucking said mate……..All these orgasms on Hazard are doing my head in, I have never even seen the fucker play

  77. JP7 says:

    Give it to me!

Owen never should have worn it. It should be given to someone with flair, influence and a lot of talent who can change a big game. At the moment, I don’t feel we have anyone deserving enough to wear the shirt and do it justice.

  78. Minhaj predicts right! says:

Am afraid but he’s not going to be from within the club guys, and there is only worthy contender from outside except the great Becks & CR7 themselves is EDEN HAZARD!!!

  79. SweetJordo says:

I really don’t know who should get the famous number 7 shirt. If Fergue buys Kagawa AND Gaitan, we won’t be seeing Hazard at our club next season. That’s what I think personally. Before this season ended, I was adamant that we were going to get 2 big name midfielders. But now that Owen have gone and Berbatov likely to follow….. Perhaps a new striker.? Or do we try out Will Keane.? In a perfect world, we would sign Kagawa, Hazard, Modric and a top striker… As for the number 7 shirt…. David Villa anyone.?

  80. tylor gang says:

if sir alex has benn able to call scholes from retirement then i think we should hand over the no 7 to bobby chalton.period

  81. lecho says:

New signing, but NOT Hazard. He’s not really a type of United player. All this bullshit about playing in Manchester, loving red and blue color, all this shite. Who do he thinks he is, new and better Cantona? Totally unprofessional. He will sign for City but anyway go to Real or Barcelona in 2-3 years time

  82. WillieRedNut says:

It’s my number, fuck off! :P Seriously, there is no new signing yet, so Nani! ;)

  83. King Eric says:

Hazard is a fukcing rentboy who has pimped himself to Spurs, Arsenal City and United in recent months. Great player but if they don’t want to join United, fuck em.

  84. cheshire101 says:

    PETRUCCI.

  85. YS says:

How abt Petrucci Pogba or W.Keane for 7??

  86. Bishopville Red says:

    A new number 7?

    ME!

    “Fergie, Fergie sign me up!”

    SB

  87. AnirudhVinay says:

Give No.7 to Wayne Rooney. He’s a leader by example & incredible presence on the pitch, just like Cantona, Beckham & Ronaldo. Then Give the vacant No.10 to Wesley Sneijder ! He’ll definately lower his salary & join us if we make an official transfer bid & offer No.10 Jersey ! It’ll be perfect ! Imagine a midfield of Scholes, Carrick & Sneijder ! Wow !

  88. slim says:

fuck me. I thought I was the only one getting sick of the eden orgy.
the Kagawa link’s the most welcome.that’s the kind of player you want behind a striker

  89. adam says:

i think either kagawa, modric or hernandez

  90. James1878 says:

    BÈBÈ

  91. One united says:

No 7 is considered unlucky in Asia, so not Kagawa if he does sign.

    Jones anyone?

  92. Jay says:

Why would any current player want it, they have already established themselves in their current numbers. There is no way Nani would want the number 7 he wants to be a player in his own right and rightly so. Besides he wears his club number for Portugal. Like people have said before keep it for that special player, I teared my hair out when Owen got the number 7 no offence to the player. When I think of a United number 7 I get excited, you expect the player to be special. Robson, Cantona, Beckham and Ronaldo all had that special something. The number 7 shirt demands the amazing player and the fans definitely deserves it. Whoever gets the number 7 will deserve it and know they will have a lot to live up to.

  93. Costas says:

    Nani. Fills the bill perfectly.

  94. Atin says:

bigphil2003 – you missed out Sir Bobby. The man tops them all!

  95. Tonka Norris says:

Danny should have the 9 when it arrives back. If we do make a MF signing of any note it will probably go there. I really hope we don’t get fed the shit about no value in the market, it’s bad enough having to wait until City and Chelsea have left the floor.

No signing? Give it to Jones. He will end up in midfield when Smalling & Evans fight for Rio’s place. Jones needs to grow, the shirt will buck him up

  96. Fred says:

    Shinji-san. 8)

  97. Fabio says:

Why not Tom.Cleverley???BUT I suppose it’s also gives “a new signing” extra incentive to join if Best, Giggs(at some point), Beckham, Robson & Ronaldo wore it.

  98. bigphil2003 says:

@Atin – If you mean my number 10 list I left him off on purpose because although he did wear it a few times he was more famous for wearing number 9! :)

  99. Fred says:

Fabio – “Why not Tom Cleverley?” It would completely screw up his soon-to-be-launched “TC23″ brand, potentially costing him millions.

  100. Fred says:

    Or, more likely, hundreds.

  101. Fabio says:

    @Fred, didn’t know that he had the TC23 brand(I do now),maybe one day a TC7:),god only knows:):):)…

  102. Albert Ross says:

    TLC for T7C? That’s upside-down logic.

  103. MG says:

    Me of course

    No doubt about that

    Here is a preview

    MG

    7

  104. Fred says:

Ashley Young could be “WTC7″ (falls down even when not touched.)

  105. Redbilly says:

Off topic- anyone read about the LFC tweet asking fans who they want as new manager after kenny?. Apparently went down a storm . Classless and insensitive to the core .

  106. Albert Ross says:

Perhaps Ole can sell us a Sven!

  107. edcunited1878 says:

    Neymar…

  108. Fred says:

Redbilly – what kind of tweets were they getting?

  109. Dazbomber says:

    Rooney

  110. Vidic says:

The man who made the #7 shirt what it is today : GEORGE BEST

  111. Vidic says:

The man who made the #7 shirt what it is today : GEORGE BEST.

  112. ak47 says:

The 29 people who said Ashley Young need to be put down lol

  113. cubs says:

Me of course. A power winger with no speed, great quikness and a powerful ass to back 3 defenders to the 6 yard box and make the right pass!

  114. Scott says:

I’ve voted new player but they could give it Young and then give 18 back to Scholes.

  115. kel says:

Omg. Hazard for number 7? Does he really wants to be in our team? Or is he going for money? I dont want another tevez…

  116. Devil Red says:

Let the players fight for it, no seven for a season then see who deserves it

  117. Vidic says:

    Give it to me

  118. zd.utd says:

Don’t know if Nani would want it. Think of all the Ronaldo comparisons.
Not Rooney – the number 10 holds a special place already.
Welbeck will probably inherit the number 9, but giving 7 to a born and bred United lad would be great.

Don’t see anyone else worthy of the shirt right now. Hated that Young got 18. Would have rather Valencia got it after Scholesy retirement #1, but maybe they’re waiting for Giggsy to go hang up the boots before giving 11 to Tony V… :)

  119. 3RedStars says:

Nani. The most talented player on the squad. Not my favorite (Vidic, Valencia, and you have to love Rooney), but he has the natural ability to be the game changer worthy of the 7. Maybe that vote of confidence from SAF would do the trick. Watching him against Barcelona on the US tour last year, I thought he had turned the corner from good to great. Not yet.

  120. kev e says:

Nani is the most appropriate at the no inless Rooney feels confident enough to step up to Eric’s level…

I love the idea though that there is a sorting hat at OT working who is worthy of these historic numbers … 7,9, 10,11.

  121. Ash says:

If berba leaves my #9 will be welbeck. Chicho should have #14 as it suits him.

Kagawa if joins will wear #13 ( I think park will go). Nani and young are not #7 material. But I won’t be surprised if nani gets that.

My #7 will be a new signing or Nani.

  122. Daniel says:

Somebody suggested Rooney which made me feel sick.
Its been scandalous having Owen as #7
I cant see us signing a player that would suit #7 although we probably wont sign the players in positions we need for some reason.
The #7 should be to our mystery player and that is Nani providing he signs a new contract.

  123. Nawaaz Casoojee says:

Well I feel that with Owens departure, the vacant number 7 shirt should serve to be an omen of our next superstar. I hope the manager signs some great exciting young stars and for me personally, these would include Neymar,Sanchez,Ozil or Bale.
However,we are unlikely to get any of those players so you could see a new unknown star similar to Ronaldo being brought to Old Trafford and taking over that famous number.
From the current players,I feel that Nani and Valencia could both step up and take on the number 7 and if they can both improve, they will engrave their names in the history of the club by following the likes of United greats such as Best,Cantona,Beckham and Ronaldo.

  124. Vilhelm28 says:

Bale for the 7. Move tony sentral and stick nani left. Best offensive midfield in epl.

  125. Vilhelm28 says:

    Sorry, meant nani right
