Quick Reactions To Victory Over Wigan

1. Ahead of kick off I asked for a usual 4-0 over Wigan but was wary of the chances of this happening. Five teams have been better on the road this season which is a shocking record for a side hoping to be named champions. Thankfully our home record is immense but when even a trip to the JB leaves you feeling a bit nervous, you know there are problems. The first twenty minutes seemed to justify these nerves, with Wigan coming at us time and again and forcing some great saves from Edwin Van der Sar. It’s a shame for them. If they were playing any other team but us today, I’d feel sorry for them, because they do play football in the right way. Still, despite all their pressure, they never really looked dangerous and United made them pay for not converting their dominance in to chances.
2. Chicharito scored against the run of play but it set United up nicely for the win. As Roberto Martinez admitted after the game, when his players went in 1-0 down at half time despite having the better chances, it was hard to take. Nani, who was shifted to the left wing for a change, rang down the wing and played it in to the near post. So often, our players run behind their markers or to the back post, but Chicharito showed more intelligent and effective play by running forwards. Got away from his man and had a simple enough tap-in. His second goal killed off the game after a nice one two with Wayne Rooney. Rooney’s return pass to him was perfectly weighted to split the defence in half and leave Hernandez one on one with the keeper. There was no way he was going to miss from there. He’s now the 9th highest scorer in the league despite such limited playing time.
3. United went with a more ambitious formation than the ones we’re used to on the road, with two strikers up front, although it’s hard to measure how much more successful this was. Obviously the result suggests it was but that could have been very different without two great first half saves from Van der Sar. Darren Fletcher wasn’t any better on the right wing than he’s been in the centre of the park and Paul Scholes didn’t boss the midfield as hoped. On the upside, I perfectly though Michael Carrick looked better and Nani, even on his less favoured wing, put in a good shift.
4. It’s about time the country’s press started tipping Nani for the player of the year awards. 23 games, 9 goals and 14 assists. Compare this to the players are London based press are ranting and raving about. Nasri on 21 games, 9 goals and 1 assist and Bale on 23 games 7 goals and 1 assist. Nani is blowing them out of the water. Some people criticise him for his greediness but today he assisted our first, hit the woodwork and struck inches away from the post. When you’re as effective as him he should be afforded the opportunities to be greedy, particularly when you consider how hard he works to win the ball back if his greed in front of goal doesn’t pay off.
5. Wayne Rooney got another goal to his name but it is his ‘challenge’ on McCarthy which will get the attention, particularly because his contribution generally was fairly poor. His first touch was disappeared and his other chances on goal were blocked or straight at the keeper. Whilst other players are guilty of far worse and go unpunished, Rooney’s actions were stupid. He needlessly used his arm when the ball had gone, which I hope was the reaction to something previous, otherwise it makes him look even more ridiculous. It was Dimitar Berbatov who raced away with the ball after a perfect long range Darron Gibson pass who set Rooney up, selflessly passing for the tap in when he could have gone for goal himself. The priority for Berbatov is the team so well done him.

    ——————————————————————————————————————————————

Fuuuuuuuckkkk… I should be so happy after this result, yet I am watching the after game show and all they are talking about is the fact that Rooney should have been sent off for his elbow!

Fuck off Townsend you fucking sick twisted prick of a pundit, fuck you for ruining my evening you sick bastard, fuck you for having a name you fucking sick soul of a human being……… FUCK YOU

  6. bruce thomas says:

At least United turned up today. Even Carrick played OK.

  7. mattbw7 says:

Yeah him and southgate, what a pair of twats I almost dont want to watch United on ITV when these two clowns are on

  8. smartalex says:

My TV coverage is long over CedarsDevil, but I’m getting angry seeing how it’s affecting you, and hearing what that fucking cunt townsend is doing. It sounds like a witch hunt.

Has James McCarthy been interviewed? Or Martinez?

  9. CedarsDevil says:

Clowns is almost giving them credit mate, their hate is so evident its fucking ridiculous

  10. kimblim says:

I think you need a seperate post about f**king Bebe and Obertan being too busy with their f**king iPods to watch the game – Giggsy didn’t look too pleased about that! Twats! When they get paid as much as they do, they could at least pretend to care!

  11. hammons says:

Berbatov and Chicharito showed today that they are the class of the forwards. I have never hid my feelings for Rooney after his contract debacle, and today he showed that he is still selfish as ever. doesnt give a hoot about the team.

great win today shame pundits and papers will try ruin it by going on about rooney. gerrard has done mush worse and never gets a mention media are a joke!

  13. Ryandunny says:

    Cedars Devil

What’s up what was he saying?

And what’s with Bebe and Obertan missed some of game over stream what were they doing?

  14. Mickjk says:

Was good to see carrick have a decent one. Can’t wait til we get a few key players back. Park Valencia Anderson namely. We’ll be really strong.

  15. parryheid says:

Collymore doing his talks how from Wigan’s stadium he was saying Sir Alex was below him on the pitch and looked up where Collymore was so Stan gave a wave and was surprised when Sir Alex returned it his hand seemed to be missing a number of fingers.

  16. Kaushik says:

scott, nani on the left is certainly for a change but I think this is a preparation for valencia’s return on the right wing. if nani + valencia can both be on the pitch together, we can expect good times sooner rather than later.

  17. CedarsDevil says:

    smartalex

McCarthy was never interviewed as far as I know… Martinez did say it should have been a red, fair enough … BUT if you host an after game show and talk about nothing but this incident than you show pure hate and envy……. Fuck me, no mention of the goals by Hernandez, no mention of the first goal by Fabio………. All that cunt spoke about was how stupid Rooney was and how he was not sent off…

    Ryandunny

Hope that answers your question mate

  18. StatesideAussie says:

With the Rooney-McCarthy incident, it looked to me as if Rooney was going to run past McCarthy, but McCarthy stepped across in front of him to block him. Which, since the ball was nowhere near, would (or should) have been a foul for obstruction. That doesn’t excuse what Rooney did (which was both wrong and silly, because he could have been sent off if the ref had seen it), but it does maybe explain how it came about. Anyway, that was what I thought when I saw it live. Most of the replays were cut too close to the elbow incident, but I saw another from further back which showed more of the lead-up, and it confirmed what I thought the first time around.

  19. Costas says:

No chance of Rooney getting charged is there? Clattenberg was aware of the incident and was happy with it. Lord knows how many times Stevie Me has gotten away with murder on that technicality.

  20. Ryandunny says:

    Thanks CedarsDevil

I fucking knew this would happen when I saw the challenge….I knew I would hear a pundit or fans pick whole in our performance and bemoan the same old shit that United get all the decisions….

Thank god it was Martinez who was the opposing manager….a guy with some class….
if it was Tony “Stoke get robbed every game” Pulis then he be leading the Rooney red card brigade.

I swear to god if I see Robbie Savage on MOTD moaning about this tonight then I’m going to kill some one leaving a bitter sweet taste over the performance.

  21. smartalex says:

That’s despicable behaviour of Townsend. He seems to get worse every week.

I wonder if he took a crazy bet a few years ago. A bet where we don’t reach 19, before Sir Alex put his feet up. Seems that there is much, much more here than meets the eye.

Perhaps there’s a NOTW fisherman baiting up as we speak.

  22. DAVE RED says:

    Evening all.

Nani is getting into the real top class of players, Scott is right he really is
not recognised by the critics at all.

Even some of the crowd at OT gets on his back when he tries things, there are two
women who are behind me on the Strettie – they constantly bitch and moan about him,

It does my bloody head in, I had to have words with em after his derby goal.

Funny things is tho – Wayne is never critizised by the crowd, no matter how shit hes been playing.

  23. hammons says:

@costas: it will be down to how Clattenburg reports it. he could have whistled the play dead, because of a head injury, and say that he didn’t see the incident. That is the worst case scenario, because the FA could use the video evidence to charge him. Imagine if he was sent off – much different game and could have been detrimental to our title chances ….. still could be detrimental.

  24. willierednut says:

Fair points StR. Don’t know why Rooney flung his arm into the lads face. Seen Fergie barking orders at him, during the game. He’s still struggling for his best form, but surely It has to get better, starting with rent boys. Team picks itself on Tuesday. Which formation, will be interesting. I’m assuming It’ll be a 451/433, with Rooney out wide. This was a potential banana skin today, but we passed It with ease in the end. ps Big thank you to Edwin for two important saves, gonna miss that man

  25. StatesideAussie says:

… on the other side, Nani was clearly pulled down just outside the box in the first half and the referee, for reasons unfathomable to me, decided to play advantage. How the fuck that can be advantage to us, I will never figure out.

  26. Ndubi says:

Playing Fabio as the left winger doesn’t seem like a bad idea, especially now when we’re short of options there, and it would be impossible for him to displace Evra at LB. Is it worth a shake?

  27. smartalex says:

StatesideAussie that’s exactly how I saw it. Mcarthy turned left into Rooney, who tried to lift his arm past his head, but clipped his ear quite nicely. Minor accident of irrelevance, that happens at the bar all the time, fucks sake. Have to have a tribunal every time skin is broken (which probably didn’t even happen).

    Anyway, good evening mate.

  28. CedarsDevil says:

In these days we still speak of mercy killings, be it to horses or even human beings suffering from some sort of pain where family members are asked if the plug should be pulled…

Townsend should be tortured not killed, killing him would be too merciful…. Chopping an inch off his nose live on TV should keep us entertained for a few weeks……. Might take months to get rid off his monster of a nose though……

    Fucking idiot

  29. Doghouse says:

The highpoint for me personally was the Gibson pass to Berbatov. I really want Gibson to work out for us and it was a sublime pass.

Past that, good result. Keeps the pressure on Arsenal, and any win on the road has to be seen as a big result for us this season as we’ve been ropey at times.

It’ll be interesting to see how much the cup game tomorrow takes out of Arsenal. Wembley is a hard pitch to play on and it takes a lot out of players, and you know that Birmingham are going to throw the kitchen sink at them. I’m expecting Arsenal to win, but I think it’s going to take it out of them, and that’s good news for us.

  30. StatesideAussie says:

According to SAF, Clattenburg saw the Rooney incident and ruled it accidental. Personally, though I think McCarthy brought it on himself to a certain extent, I think it’s silly to say it was accidental. Still, we get enough bad ones given against us. The real point is that if the ref saw it and decided no action was warranted, then I don’t believe it can be reviewed after the match. I think reviews only happen when the refs say they didn’t see an incident. Pretty sure that’s a hard rule with no gray areas or exceptions. Otherwise, it would open the door to all sorts of incidents being reviewed.

  31. smartalex says:

Yes, euthanasia is far too kind. How about cloning him, and locking the 2 of them into a tiny room where the walls are mirrors. Watching townsend is the worst torture anyone could be subjected to.

  32. willierednut says:

Who gives a fuck what they say. Turn them off!

  33. CedarsDevil says:

    smartalex

Thanks mate, you have just cracked me up and removed my anger……

Just as long as we do not have 2 of them on TV though!!

  34. smartalex says:

Sorry, but again I agree StatesideAussie. Anything ruled on, can’t be re-ruled upon.

Only mistaken identity or a serious incident unseen that the ref, in his report, considers to have warranted a red card during the game: can be reviewed later.

  35. willierednut says:

Mute Cedars! Hit the off button.

  36. StatesideAussie says:

smartalex … good evening to you too (or morning, in my case). I didn’t see any claret either, which in itself is fairly telling, because a sharp elbow can split an ear quite easily. Still, it was a bit silly of Rooney, because a different referee might well have over-reacted with a red. Anyway, gives the ABUs something to moan about in their attempts to tarnish our win.

Strange match in some ways. Once again, we neither dominated, nor got dominated, in the middle of the park. Yet in attack and defense, we clearly had the edge, which explains the one-sided score.

I just hope the lads can put this under their belt, and maybe shake off that away-game hoodoo. Will be interesting to see who plays on Tuesday. I thought that today we might see Rooney and Berba get a half-game each, one of them starting with Chicharito, then switching at half time. That would give both a run but still them quite fresh for Tuesday. Yet Rooney played all the way through. I know he’s super fit, but it doesn’t seem like the ideal prep for a major game only a few days away.

  37. CedarsDevil says:

Need me a bitter here of sorts to dish out some bottled anger…… Actually tried to call in the show, good thing I did not get through otherwise I would have been banned for life…

Where is that fuck face alex blue? Would be fun having him here to tear him to shreds

  38. rachreddevil says:

you guys make me laugh. why are so many people going on a bout obertan and bebe. bebe put his phone away so its obvious he was probably answering a txt. obertan was listening to something he didnt want maybe the biast comentery you get on some radio stations. the camera was on them for ten seconds how do you know they weren’t up on their feet when we scored. the amounts of times i see other players doing the same thing as their is no mention about them. it really is funny

  39. smartalex says:

CedarsDevil, they will likely commit instant co-incidental suicide, problem solved.

What a fool! He does of course play right into United’s hands. People ignore our quality, delusion precedes a headlong fall. We are so far ahead as a team that others forget to race us. There are millions of idiots that think we shoudn’t be 4 points clear because we’ve dropped points. If we hadn’t dropped those points we’d be ten points clear, not trailing in the Prem. Idiots.

  40. willierednut says:

I don’t think Rooney will be charged. doesn’t mean, he wasn’t stupid, with two tough away games at Chelsea and the dippers. @Cedars Pointless getting yourself wound up. Their hatred makes us stronger.

  41. DAVE RED says:

    @StatesideAussie,

Martinez says that Clattenburg saw the Rooney incident, he gave the free kick,
at half time he said it was just a collision, end of the story – no retrospective action.

That wont stop the media witch hunt though.

  42. Costas says:

    @hammons

Agreed. We didn get away with that to a degree. As for charging Rooney, my hope is that since Clatterburg talked with Rooney, he was aware of what happened and decided that no further punishment was necessary. Like I said, Gerrard got away with it twice last season.

  43. hammons says:

    @costas

there are two standards – one for United and one for the rest of league. the FA is loaded Arsenal and City idiots

  44. CedarsDevil says:

    smartalex

Need me a new word.. Idiots seems a bit too kind here, any help?

Oh and boo fucking hoo, Messi just scored his 41st goal of the season and we are still in Feb!! Our local village team won 18 nil last week, the lead striker got his 78th goal in 5 matches, sort of reminded me of the La Liga

  45. dela says:

I just hope the FA doesn’t make a big fuss about Rooney’s elbow right now- though I must admit it was quite silly of him. Big week ahead. I’d gladly take 4 points from the next two fixtures- a draw at the Bridge and a win at Anfield, preferably.

  46. CedarsDevil says:

    Willie

Not wound up at all mate, in fact my wife hates how cold as ice I am!! Just makes me feel better to vest out written anger towards fools and idiots…

You are spot on though, their hate has always made us stronger

  47. vika09 says:

I thought Rooney was a lot better than usual today. Plus, it doesn’t help when you are thrown around on the field in various different positions week in and week out.

    He did well.

Infact, Nani was absymal and robbed Hernandez of a hatrick.

  48. willierednut says:

Well, you did melt the iceman yesterday.

  49. dela says:

    @vika
Nani did brilliantly for Hernandez’s first and was unlucky not to score in the first half. ‘Absymal’? Are you Piers Morgan in disguise?

  50. CedarsDevil says:

Haha Yes I did mate, though I do miss that alex blue fellow…. Seems like a fun target

  51. willierednut says:

Spot on, Nani was abysmal. Shocking player.

  52. StatesideAussie says:

@Dave, right, that’s basically what I said in one of my posts. I was just away reading the FA rules (which cover PL matches too). There are provisions to appeal a decision that the ref did make (you can appeal a red card on the grounds that it was wrongful or a case of mistaken identity), but you can’t appeal something that the ref did see but decided not to act upon. There’s no rule that explicitly says that, but all the rules governing post-match reviews are stated as being only for incidents the officials did not see. Because, otherwise, the floodgates would open, wouldn’t they?

  53. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@Cedars, Exactly. My dad always asks me why the world media has it in for United. And I say to him, I wouldn’t want it any other way. Imagine if everyone in the media were sucking up to us like they are for Chelsea and City. I wouldn’t find that fun in any sort of way. Now, it is just great because they will have their faces deep in their own shit when we win our 19th and I will be filled with ecstasy at how idiotic they truly are.

Nice highlights as always Scott. Anyways, I will always be critical of Nani because IMO that is the only thing holding him back from being top 5 in the world I imagine. His ability is as good as anybody else, he can shoot with both feet, play on either wing, cross with either feet, run past defenders with ease etc. etc. Whenever he plays, I think he feels he wants to prove how good he is by doing many things himself. The only thing he has to let go of is his eagerness to prove that he is the best and start accepting the fact that he is one of the best and start doing the right thing and he will be a frightening player to behold.

Anyways, onto the other two games now, with Carrick finding form and our strikers in top form, I am upbeat going into the most important week of the season.

  54. timbo says:

Nani deserves nothing until someone hits the guy over the head and informs him that there are other players on the pitch capable of scoring goals, if only he’ll pass the damn ball to them when they’re in a better position then he is. He blew at least two good opportunities today to pass the ball to open players, which could have cost United, and until he can rid himself of his tunnel vision in front of goal he’ll never be capable of building upon his exceptional ball skills and body movement to become the kind of star player many believe he is capable of becoming. Despite his goals and assists record, what doesn’t show is how many shots on goal he misses and how many instances team mates have been better positioned.

Berbatov’s unselfish play sums up why he is such an exceptional talent and why the stats don’t always tell the true story. With ten odd minutes to play and United already 2 up, many a striker would have tried slotting the ball home themselves, especially for a guy in contention for the golden boot award. Nani without doubt, and probably Rooney, would have gone for it. Berbatov thought of the team first and gifted the ball to Rooney. That’s why I value the guy so highly.

  55. willierednut says:

Please God, I don’t ask for much, just fans that watch the game. 14 assists and 9 goals? Piss poor.

  56. smartalex says:

There is a 17 minute highlight video on the RoM Videos link at the top of the page.

  57. CedarsDevil says:

    dela

Hope you are keeping safe buddy.. strange seeing trouble in other corners…. Normally and historically that has always been under our own cedars!

And yes Nani was awful, not just today but throughout….. sell him and buy say Joe Cole

  58. timbo says:

I also forgot to mention that Edwin just about deserved the MOM award for his stellar efforts. United should have been at least two goals down in the first half after some sloppy defense, and it was clever and courageous play by the Dutchman to cut down the angles in one on one situations that saved the team’s bacon. The defense was very sloppy today, and teams like Chelsea and Liverpool will make them pay if they keep that kind of performance up. Thank God for Vidic is all I can say, and heaven help us if he goes down with injury.

  59. smartalex says:

    townsend is an imbecile.

  60. CedarsDevil says:

Hit him over the head? Someone should shoot you IN the head

  61. Tomo1982 says:

Think the talk of Nani being much weaker on his left is slightly unjustified. He is more comfortable on the right, but he is one of the few genuinely two footed players around, something I don’t think he gets enough credit for.

He put in some really good performances down the left towards the end of last season, and I’m sure he’ll have no problem in doing it again once Tony V is back.

My only concern is that people seem to be expecting Valencia to come back in and pick up exactly where he left off – I sincerely hope he does but it was a nasty injury he suffered and it may take him some time to find his rhythm again.

  62. CedarsDevil says:

smartalex….. This ring any bells mate? Oh fuck off any bitters here! :-)

In from the coast, riding like the wind and racing the moon,
Shadows on the road, dancing and a-weaving like a crazy fool.
A horseman is coming, death in his heart, for a rendez-vous,
And where the traveller goes, nobody knows,
Where the traveller goes, nobody knows….

A candle in the night, fear on every face when he goes inside
    (Maybe he’s on the run?)
Get back from the bar! A stranger in town is a dangerous sight
    (Maybe he’s got a gun?)
“Bring a bottle of whisky, landlord, I wanna talk for a while.”
And where the traveller goes, a cold wind blows,
Oh, where the traveller goes, a cold wind blows….

  63. smartalex says:

CedarsDevil, have a look at that video (linked at top of page) on the RoM Videos page, and tell me what you think of the commentary, please.

  64. Vish says:

Anyone else think that Fabio out on the left wing might be a tactical masterstroke from SAF?

  65. Balaji Sivaraman says:

Ok, just to add to what I said, if someone miscontrues that post as me saying Nani isn’t worth it or something like that.

I believe Nani has been our most important player this season behind Vidic and I feel he is already a good fit for POTY. I only said that he has a singular flaw which, if he does away with, he will be a truly frightening player to behold.

I just wanted to add that before people climb on my back for not recognizing his contributions.

  66. CedarsDevil says:

    Balaji

Was not climbing on your back if its me you refer to…… My note was pointed towards an idiot which you are NOT… Total respect from me

    smartalex

You mean the goals thread videos?

  67. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@Cedars, I just wanted to say that before somebody else misunderstands what I meant to say about Nani. No worries mate. I know we’re always cool. :D

  68. smartalex says:

No CedarsDevil, above the heading ‘Republik of Mancunia’ on every page, are some buttons. On the right is one called ‘ROM VIDEOS’. I won’t link it, you can do it, my friend!

  69. MKRed says:

Another factor in the inevitable media campaign against Rooney…

United’s next two games are against Chelsea and Liverpool, the media’s and FA’s darlings, so all sorts of pressure will be applied in the hope of weakening United.

Contrast it with the way John Terry and Steven Gerrard have previously been excused misdemeanours – even had suspensions overturned – when their next game was against United.

  70. smartalex says:

If you need enticement…..Lou Macari……2 little words that make all the difference to your viewing pleasure.

  71. CedarsDevil says:

Where the fuck is everyone? It is match day, the Mrs has gone to her mom’s place (Thank the heavens) I have me alone time on my lap top (Well really hers) and I am all wound up for some banter…..

Come on you lot……….. to make it more interesting though us a couple of bitters to laugh at

  72. Costas says:

I agree with Balaji about Nani. Quite simply, he needs to become more of a team player imo. Quite often I wonder if he wants to do stuff on his own to prove that he is just as good as Ronaldo. Well, if on top of his indivisual skills he learns when to pass the ball, he will become a more valuable player than Ronaldo.

  73. little_red_pigeon says:

It really pisses me off when people still constantly complain about Nani, even though he’s been our best attcking player this season and work his ass of every match. Yet, Rooney can act like a twat, play absolutely shockingly and still get a big ol’ pat on the back. FFS.

  74. smartalex says:

    Great tune CedarsDevil, Powerful stuff.

  75. CedarsDevil says:

    smartalex

Yes got it buddy……… Will have to view it in the morning though. My pirated internet connection is so slow in the evenings that it would take me hours to watch a youtube or dailymotion video that is a mere 10 minutes long! :-)

  76. willierednut says:

Don’t get the criticism of Nani. The lad can frustrate, but fuck me, he’s produced the goods for most of the season, with goals and assists. We’ve got a potential world beater on our hands and still, some find fault with the lad. As Paul Parker said on another thread, maybe the manager has told him to be more selfish and shoot more. He’s progressing with every game, I’m glad he plays for United.

  77. nani4ever says:

    that should have been today

  78. smartalex says:

It’s good footage (17min) , but the big difference is it’s Lou Macari commentating.

  79. CedarsDevil says:

Fuck you indeed Willie, I totally agree with you re Nani

  80. willierednut says:

Another thing, Fergie has said he thinks Nani has worked our English, more quickly than Ronaldo. Have to say, I’ve never thought like that, but It’s an interesting point.

  81. CedarsDevil says:

Hope he was totally biased towards us smartalex as I expect him to be! Will see it tomorrow morning for sure.

I was at Lou’s testimonial when we played Celtic at OT. He played for both teams at each half and the little cunt scored for Celtic! Love the guy

  82. willierednut says:

    *English football* damn typos!

  83. smartalex says:

I can see from the on screen logo, that it was broadcast live by SETANTA 1.

Possibly a good stream to find for future games…

  84. Costas says:

    @willie

In another game and against a better opponent, we could have been punished for Nani’s decision making at 0-1. That’s my take on it. Don’t know if he is told by the manager to be more selfish, but there were times when it was obvious there were better choices for him.

  85. CedarsDevil says:

Useless for me to try and watch games on the internet, connection is bloody awful. Thank God for piracy as I have every existing sports channel on TV for free!

    Please do not tell anyone!

  86. CedarsDevil says:

    Costas

Lay off the hash induced kebabs mate :-)

  87. smartalex says:

    Ha Shish-Kebabs!

  88. willierednut says:

Costas – You could say that, but It didn’t cost us the game. I’m sure there was times, Berbatov or Rooney could’ve passed, but chose to shoot instead. Ronnie was the worst for being selfish, when he was at United. That’s part of some of the great players make up, selfish at times.

  89. parryheid says:

anybody get an invite to City 35th.Anniversary.best wishes for your Golden.

  90. smartalex says:

Was that really MG earlier? If it was, he seems to have been snatched.

  91. willierednut says:

MG never had the makings of a varsity athlete.

  92. vika09 says:

lolcakes at anyone who took me seriously.

    Seriously?

  93. CedarsDevil says:

Here goes Willie again with words I need to bloody google………… Show off! hahaha

  94. smartalex says:

If you watch Fabio, before the ball hits the net, he has spun on a sixpence and his eyes have met Raphael’s on the bench. When we come to the time where they both always start, there is going to be a carnival!

  95. willierednut says:

    vika09 – That was a cracker.

  96. Costas says:

    @Cedars

I am under no influence, I’ll have you know, lol. I can be critical of our lads too. But only after they win. Don’t want to kick them while they are down.

  97. CedarsDevil says:

    smartalex

Those two have the makings of being legends at the club….. I really hope they stay with us throughout their career………. Bloody love them both

  98. smartalex says:

Some people are so far behind in the race that they actually believe they’re leading.

  99. CedarsDevil says:

    Costas

You can do and say want you want fellow red….And of course you do not need me to say that! Just messing with you buddy.

vika09, is that a name of an East European car? Seriously?

  100. MG says:

    Evening fellow Reds

I’m back fell asleep United scored four goals – happiness :)

    smartalex

Well mate I can’t really snatch myself though it’s an interesting idea ;)

    willierednut

Mate I had the makings of a great striker once upon a time – damn couldn’t settle the weight problem lol :)

Could’ve been a young Ronaldo ha ha ha

    CedarsDevil

Our Kebabs are legitimate flavour induced – no such thing as drugged kebabs for the kebab believers :)

    Got ya Malanga!

  102. CedarsDevil says:

MG the resident RoM poet and screen play writer is back! Good to hear from you mate…

You missed a couple of blue shit noses last night which I am sure you would have enjoyed ripping apart, but rest assured the lads here did the business and did it well!

  103. vika09 says:

    @Cedars

    lolcakes?

My friend, if you’ve not had lolcakes, you are missing out. It’s the best.

    http://holycrapthatsfunny.com/tag/lolcakes/

Yes. lolcakes. They’re funny. Just like my opinions.

  104. willierednut says:

Did someone say Ole was gone? He’s been reborn, in Javier Hernandez. :D

  105. smartalex says:

Perhaps we could consider Nani in another light.

Even prior to his arrival, his mercurial talent was never in doubt, but we knew that work needed to be done. As we are not members of the inner sanctum, we underestimated just how much work was required, to varying degrees. Now that Nani is topping the assists and also scoring many, as well as easily going past anyone, we expect him to be the finished article. It may be true that better decisions could have been made, but only by players that wouldn’t have been in that position in the first place.
His decision making will improve, because he makes so many opportunities for choice, he’s getting the most practice.

Nani’s power lies in his volatility and belief. He does what he sees.

  106. CedarsDevil says:

Fuck, and here is me missing out on lolcakes, must be bloody hilarious. Will make sure to ask my local grocery for some tomorrow. I am sure they are sold here, after all I do live in lolcounty

  107. MG says:

    CedarsDevil

Gday mate – nice to be back home and back amongst fellow Reds

It seems I did miss my now weekly date with the bitters but as pointed out I am sure you guys hand,ed them pretty well.

As the old line quite rightly points out – “If you are bein shot at from all sides then you must be doing something right”

Still doing something right then :)

  108. smartalex says:

Ole! Ole! Ole! Ole! Javier Hernandez!

  109. CedarsDevil says:

    Willie

Well said mate……. Great comparison. Are you reading this big nosed fuck faced Townsend?

  110. MG says:

    Oh crap typos already

    handled instead of had,ed

    being instead instead of bein

Sure you clever people worked it out though lol :)

  111. I AM NOT A MAN says:

Chicharito is making the red shirt look threatening again whereas Rooney is still wearing the Emperor`s New Clothes – when will the Rooney support system finally recognise he is not the player he once was and has not been good enough for over a year now. He is overweight and has lost that burst of pace that now Chicharito shows instead. Rooney scored a great goal against City but that was a single goal in a single game – I expect something a bit special every week, not just to justify his £200k a week ransom demand but to fucking justify the privelege of playing for our club.

We MUST sell him because we DO NOT NEED HIM and HE SHOWEHE THINKS THAT HE IS BIGGER THAN THE CLUB. He never was bigger than the club when he played well and he most definitely isnt bigger than the club now. I could have scored that goal today and the match was already won so it failed to impress me or match my ambition for a number 10 at Manchester United.
Lets stop blowing sunshine up his arse and sing for that Mexican Bandido who steals winners like they are Golden Pesos.

  112. CedarsDevil says:

Clever people here? We are all on lolcakes? seriously? I mean seriously?

  113. willierednut says:

I knew in the summer, we’d got a bargin in Hernandez, but you’d think the lad would need time to settle in a new country and all that. No, he hits the ground running and just might be our ace in the pack. Yep, the old man/genius has gone and one It again.

  114. smartalex says:

    That’s illological.

  115. willierednut says:

    *done* where’s my glasses?

  116. BjOlav says:

Since nobody really mentioned it yet – I think Smalling had another great game today with Vidic. If he can work on his distribution, he’ll be a great replacement for Rio (when needed).

Like many of you have pointed out; Mr. Ambition is clearly out of form and confidence (despite the derby goal). I wish Nani, Berbatov and Hernandez would get appreciation from the supporters as easy as he does. Let’s hope he will find some of his magic back, and earn his salary.

Top of the toughest league in Europe – without really convincing anyone. That’s the story of the season so far. But we shall not be moved. Still in 3 competitions; it can’t be all that bad…

  117. smartalex says:

    What a onederful man.

  118. CedarsDevil says:

Glasses? You having multiple drinks? Seriously? Seriously?

  119. smartalex says:

  120. CedarsDevil says:

OMG OMG I am PMSL this is so hilarious ……….. Did I say OMG?

  121. Passe says:

Someone get the Stevie starfish elbow on Welbeck to the jury so that we don’t have to listen to ‘United get all the decisions’ nonsense for another week again.

  122. CedarsDevil says:

    Passe

A whole football show today was dedicated talking about the Rooney elbow. No mention of the game, the goals, Hernandez, Smalling, or even Fabio’s first goal ffs!

They hate us, it gives us material to laugh at them and when needed offload bad language towards them which is good for the system

  123. smartalex says:

CedarsDevil, what’s up with the sololoquy?

  124. willierednut says:

    Jersey? Come on, will ya.

  125. devilz11 says:

what a day dont u just love nani and little pea . was just wondering how come chealsea gget the weekend off and then play a rearranged match with us how does that happen its total bullshit the fa should have a word wiv themselves .

  126. CedarsDevil says:

    smartalex

having a laugh at the east European car maker mate! Thought you would see through that

  127. willierednut says:

Chelsea were due to play Birmingham this weekend. They can’t obviously.

  128. smartalex says:

Anthony is a cunt hair away from owning all Northern Jersey – and I am that cunt hair.

  129. CedarsDevil says:

Jersey? who mentioned that Willie? Let me rip into them, just give me a name

  130. smartalex says:

    …and I was making a silly lol joke…illological… sololoquy.

    Laughing is contagious!

    lol

    lol lol

    a few more lols

    finish of with a lol.

Now that was a belter of a post!

  131. smartalex says:

I must admit that at times my eyes lol.

  132. willierednut says:

Historically, Carmine always said, Jersey were nothing more than a glorified crew.

    What? lol

    lol

    seriously?

    lol

    what?

    lol

Fuck me this place takes a load off!

  134. smartalex says:

Yeah. You and my Dad. You two ran North Jersey.

  135. MKRed says:

Arsenal are taking flares to Wembley tomorrow – the same ones they wore when they were last there.

  136. MKRed says:

    I’ll try again:

Arsenal fans are taking flares to Wembley tomorrow – the same ones they wore when they were last there.

  137. willierednut says:

Watching motd, lets yous know if big lugs Lineker says anything about Rooney.

  138. CedarsDevil says:

    Willie

If anyone upsets you mate just give me the word and I will rip them to bits. I know you are more than capable to look after yourself but I am sure you also enjoy idiots bring shred apart by fellow reds….

    Just mention a name buddy!

  139. Ma says:

    Don’t mess with Hernandez http://i56.tinypic.com/2zs4g3r.png

  140. smartalex says:

    There’s a natural mystic blowing through the air;
If you listen carefully now you will hear.
This could be the first trumpet, might as well be the last:
Many more teams have to suffer,
Many more teams have to die – don’t ask me why.

Things are not the way they used to be,
    I won’t tell no lie;
One and all have to face reality now.
‘Though I’ve tried to find the answer to all the questions they ask.
‘Though I know it’s impossible to go livin’ through the past –
    Don’t tell no lie.

There’s a natural mystic blowing through the air –
    Can’t keep them down –
If you listen carefully now you will hear.

  141. willierednut says:

    Cedars – Cheers mate.

  142. willierednut says:

Lineker and co discussed the Rooney first and not the actual game. Hansen thinks he’s in trouble. The bandwagon has started.

  143. lawman10 says:

motd have just got rooney a ban!!!

  144. RedScot says:

@ Willie never, should ban him for 4 games, :)

  145. Costas says:

    Ban Rooney for life.

They can’t even pretend to be objective? They didn’t make all this fuss when Gerrard deliberately elbowed Danny W and Michael Brown. If Clatteburg was fine with it, there is no case.

  146. devilz11 says:

didnt realise just seen rooney elbow what a prick. will torres be allowed to play on tues cause if he is its wrong

  147. CedarsDevil says:

Pleasure mate……… Thing is as United fans (East European car manufacturers aside) we are just that UNITED. We do not hate, we simply laugh at insects around us. Shitty are the biggest joke, they give us so much comedy its healthy for the system, the dippers, well they are are rivals historically speaking and granted they are a big club so to speak, but they are dippers ffs!

Rent boys, now where to start on them? Classless, clueless, small time with an imagination of greatness? lets just call them fucking low lives.. Fair enough? Guess you would all agree…

Who is left? Arsenal? Hahahahahahahah need I say more? Na

We are UNITED, we ARE class, we ARE superior……

Anyone want to argue any of these facts are welcomed

  148. Manchuchu says:

    This just in:

Ashley Cole brings air rifle and shoots and wounds Chelsea backroom staffer.

  149. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

lawman10 I reckon Rooney got the ban himself and hes let us down in the process. Sure motd can show and whinge about it but if Rooney doesnt realise the cameras and talk will always be on him then can we take some of his wages back please. Is he the superstar, yes, has he got to act like one, unfortunately for him the answer is also yes.
The good news is we get to see Berbatov and Hernandez against Chelsea. We will not play 4-3-3 against Chelsea, no need for motivation there. The bad news is Chelsea know this and can set up the team accordingly. Nice one Rooney.
Of course McCarthy wanted to knock Rooney over, but come on an elbow to the earhole, not with the cameras rolling.

  150. Costas says:

I remember Malouda getting a red card rescindedl ast season for something a lot more serious than this. And he ended up playing at Old Trafford, even though he should have been banned.

  151. willierednut says:

RedScot – Ban him for the rest of the season, we’ve got Hernandez.

  152. G-le says:

Nani still has a problem, forcing stuff …
He has some idea in his head, and tries to do it, no matter whats happening around him. His improvement over the years is remarkable, but if he doesn’t let the game dictate his decisions, feeling the flow, he will always fall short of his limit, and his limit is being the special player on the team that wins all the trophies in the year.

He should stop trying to be Ronaldo, and start being Nani. Enjoy the game, pass more, think faster, or just feel it, don’t think … he forced shots when he could pass for the assist countless times. He tried a backheel pass in the box against Marseille, when he should have blasted it in the net.

I have changed few stations today, so I cant tell you which one I was watching at the time, but near the end, even SAF lost it with him. The commentator mentioned that SAF exploded on Nani down the line, and minute later, Fabio was brought as a substitute for him. Take it for what is worth …

I know he is our best winger at the moment, and maybe the best in the world, but he still has to learn a lot.

  153. FletchTHEMAN says:

    Costas,
Let’s just hope that Clattenburg put the incident in the report. If he says that he saw it and judged it not to be a major issue then it is done. But if the incident is not in the report and Clattenburg says he didn’t see it, then I would expect a 4 game ban. To my view, it was completely c*ntish behavior and I would not have a problem with a ban. Actually think the team might play better without the prince as I think the entire team is on egde when WR10 is playing. Just my opinion.

Noticed that Vidic talked for some time to Clattenburg at the final whistle. I will wager that vidic was making sure that the incident is reported in the referees report. If so, we are done. Think you guys should pull up videos on Stevie and StJohn O Tearys hall of shame momments and plaster them all over the various media locations and blogs. If they ban WR10, It is important that everyone understands the hypocracy of the previous incidents.

  154. Tony Starks says:

OK people might find this controversial but…

I hope action DOES get taken against Rooney. He has lately found that horrible nastiness again – have been a few incidents recently. It’s about time he gets punished, might bring him back to reality

  155. FletchTHEMAN says:

News of the world is reporting that Ashely Cole has just shot a fan at the Chelsea training ground.
It is nowwhere else. Is this on the the TV yet?

  156. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

Costas mate you have to get over this everyones against United thing, Of course they are and I wouldnt have it any other way. When we win it means more, when we win the league I feel their anger boil but they cant show it on TV, the fans are fuming, some suicidal (yipee) makes my fucking day.
Chelsea didnt play this weekend either, anyone know the reason why, theyve played one less game?

  157. bchilds says:

I know I’ve made my feelings known about Rooney before but how fucking stupid does he have to be. Forget about MOTD obviously trying their hardest to get Rooney banned unlike when Saint Stevie makes a similar challenge but Rooney must know how big the next 22 days are for us & risks a 3 or 4 game ban for throwing an elbow at McCarthy. What was the point in that?

On the bright side it may be a blessing to have him out the team for those games the way he’s been playing. He got a goal today, put on a plate by Berba, but his overall play was poor yet again.

  158. smartalex says:

ol mac lol lol had a lol eiei lol.
and on his lol he had some lols eiei lol
Here a lol there a lol everywhere a lol lol
ol mac lol lol had a lol eiei lol.

Oh, how I miss the funny farm!

  159. RedScot says:

@ My Mate in Sweden , who open’s up the debate, and is fucking hillarity, with every post. But also within , those posts, cryptic messages.
Plus does know a massive amount about fitbae, if you read, which ,i love to do.
My tease was a joke, its hardly , we want the “ABU” press destroying United, and our challenge on Arsenal, which will happen.
As the Goat, describes, put the big hitter’s out at the Bridge on Tuesday, Dimitar the marvelous, and Javier Hernandez, the new Ole Gunner.(more game time and stamina)

  160. FletchTHEMAN says:

Ok, Telegraph says it was an “accidental” shooting. Right, that explains why we have guns at the Chelsea training ground.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/chelsea/8349977/Chelsea-defender-Ashley-Cole-shoots-club-intern-with-a-pellet-gun.html

  161. willierednut says:

It was stupid from Rooney. As I said already, he knows United have tough games coming up and still he feels the need to get involved in that kind of incident. I think the ref seen It, but didn’t deem It worthy of a booking.

  162. Tony Starks says:

O and also, Rooney seems to have a crazy loss of brain incident every game, personally I think because he’s Rooney & England striker, people dont highlight it more – he has gone back to his thuggish early days. This might just be one incident too many

  163. Devil Is Red 19 says:

    Javier Hernandez – The Mexicutioner

  164. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

I thought it was a joke that Cashley had shot someone. Why? Why has a grown man got a gun if hes not intending on using it AND if he is a 22, honestly, I dont get it. He earns god knows how many millions to watch his team mates shower and he gets out his pistol.
I loved the comment at the bottom of the page (link given to us by Fletch) ” I wish someone would shoot Cheryl Cole IN THE FACE” That had me in stiches.

  165. FletchTHEMAN says:

OK, it is clear Clatenburg saw it, gave a free kick and thus there was a punishment. If the FA stay to form, they can’t do anything.

Here is Martinez’s interview from the Guardian
“It might have been a different matter had they gone down to 10 men. The referee told me at half-time that Rooney had just clipped James and it did not warrant a red card, but if you see a replay it is clearly an elbow and Rooney was very fortunate to escape a red card. The referee must have seen it because he gave a free-kick. Had one of my players done that I’m not sure he would have been so lucky.”

Lets move back to discussing Hernandez.
    18/19 pass completion rate.
2 goals from 3 shots on goal.
First goal was from a pass.
Second goal was just just exceptional open field shooting at pace.

Very very good from our No14!
    Viva Chicharito!

  166. smartalex says:

The Mexicutioner executed wigan, nice Devil Is Red 19!

  167. G-le says:

Am I the only one who thinks that besides VDS, Rooney was man of the match today?

He made the pass that released Nani for the first goal, he assisted the second (created), and scored the third? He even made space for the 4th. Doesn’t anyone else here watch the games? I didn’t liked the contract soap opera as well, but don’t kid yourself, Rooney is a very special player. He ain’t as fast as he used to be, he might not score as much as last year, but he has a footballing brain, he is unselfish, he puts the team in front whenever he plays, and he plays with ferocity. He is the soul of this generation, love it or hate it. I love Berbatov, I think highly of Nani, and I don’t even want to talk about the legends, some of them still playing.

But make no mistake, SAF didn’t went all that trouble for player not worth it.

  168. Xyth says:

I cannot wait for the day when Alan YSB Hansen, Mark YSB Lawrenson and Gary the cunt Lineker are gone from the telly once and for all!!!

  169. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

Well Im not going to blow my own trumpet (if I could I wouldnt be married – 10 years tommorrow hopefully Ill be released early for good behaviour) but before the match I said it would be 4-0 to United and Chico would score his first hattrick. Not too far off.

  170. willierednut says:

“oh, give me land, lots of land, under the starry skies above
    don’t fence me in Rooney”

  171. Costas says:

    @FletchTHEMAN

I hope you are right. I can’t defend what he did, but, it would piss me off if there was one set of rules for us and one set of rules for other teams’ players. Anyway, my take on it, is that Clattenburg was aware of the incident and acted upon it. That way, Rooney should be in the clear. However, that might also create a media circus going into the Chelsea game, that I don’t know if it suits us.

    @Goat

Trust me mate, I don’t want to keep going there either. If Rooney should be banned according to the law, then by all means. It could mean a rare start for Berbatov against a top 4 side and I won’t mind that! It’s what i said above though. If the rules only apply to us, I can’t help but feel like we (as a club) are the idiots of the bunch. Anyway. We will know next week.

As for Chelsea, they were supposed to play Birmingham, but they are playing in the Carling cup final. Lucky break for them.

  172. smartalex says:

That cashley story is incredible. He brought an air gun to work and shot one of the students! What a joke of a footballer, what a ridiculous club.

  173. Devil Is Red 19 says:

    Smartalex

cheers lad, gave him the name mecxicutioner at world cup, the kid is just deadly infront of goal!

    Xyth

our ex players are too busy in the game coaching and managing to be sitting on the sofa talking shit about other teams every week

  174. FletchTHEMAN says:

    Willierednut,
Love that song mate. Don’t ruin it by making me think of the lost prince everytime I hear it ;(

    Costas,
Agree. that is why we need to flood sites with images of Gerrard and the King of twat.
But if it blows up in the media, I believe that SAF will leave WR10 on the bench, which is what he deserves after putting the entire game at risk. Nani was rightly pulled from the game for his selfishness. Be proper for SAF to do the same with the prince. No one is bigger than the team.

  175. willierednut says:

We can rightly point out Gerrard’s two finger salute to the ref at Wigan last year, or Terry’s two footed challenge on Milner at the FA cup semi final. The point here is, if Rooney doesn’t fling his arm in the lads face, there’s no incident to speak of. I’m sure Fergie will be reminding Rooney of his responsibilities, going into this crucial period of the season.

  176. devilz11 says:

cashley cole should be sacked and prosecuted if any one else pulled a stunt like that they would end up in court and in the job center if not prison the fucking muppet . cant belive that the press havent made more of this when u see how the press react when other teams players do stupid things. even if they not broken the law.

  177. willierednut says:

RE: Ashley Cole, truly bizarre lol.

  178. RedScot says:

Why are you nutters, typing aboot, Liver fail, or Chelsay. I want a brummie win the morro, or we are gonna have the Gooners all all over the forum. You no it makes sense, Cmon you Brummies.
Pit the Gooners in their place big Ecky and the pensioners you have.
For wan day, I support the Blues.

  179. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

  180. smartalex says:

Goatherders in helicopters are going to sweep the republik any minute now.

  181. dannysoya says:

Here we go. let’s make a mountain out of a mole hill. Chelsea got away with elbowing two players in one game at Portsmouth last season. Rooney does it three days to the chelsea game and everyone is calling for his head. Jealous fucks.

  182. devilz11 says:

there all at city watching a team owned by a load of muslim extreamists

  183. willierednut says:

Maybe the young lad Cole shot, violated Cheryl?

  184. Louis says:

The mexicutioner! BAHA! Good one. The boy is pure class. He just keeps scoring. He seems a good kid, cant help be really happy for him.
Also, what do you guys think of another year-long loan for JEvans? And one for Gibson. Seems to me that we dont loan out our younger players enough [this year is an exception]. Im talking about once theyre good enough to be in our first team squad, and would make a premiership line-up. We seem to only loan them out when theyre really young, but not afterwards. I understand that theres an advantage in training with the first team, but it doesnt work for everyone. Thoughts?

  185. smartalex says:

Ol King Cole was a merry old soul, but

cashley cole is a cocky arsehole, and his cock is a bb gun.

  186. McQueen says:

Ryandunny – They are both great value but Hernandez definitely the better buy for me. Whilst there are potentially a number of youngsters that could put in solid, composed performances at the back ala Smalling, Hernandez has that instinct and eye for goal that is very rare. He is a great find. Smalling has been brilliant don’t get me wrong, but Chicha is potentially something very special.

Smalling in my eyes plays just as Vida did when he first came to us and Vida in turn has grown as a player and looks more the organiser than ever before.
Hernandez is the new pipo Inzhagi. Fucking world class.

Rooney MOTM? Yeah, the MediocreMan of the Match. For 60 minutes he was absymal, not Nani. Some of the expectations of Nani and patience towards Rooney are just so wrong.
One goal and one assist suddenly made Rooney MOTM? Nani caused panic in the fullbacks and the defenders whenever he dribbled in, and had it been Rooney of the old, he would have gotten a second assist when the keeper spilled his shot which Rooney didn’t have the courage to try it first time. Hernandez probably would’ve.
And Gibson, while I’m beginning to be a little more tolerant of him, had just that one pass to Berbs, and does not warrant being hailed as having come good. Give him 90 minutes and he’d be worse than an anonymous Carrick.
Carrick did OK? He did wonderfully imo. Almost as good as THAT Roma game. Getting into tackles, making interceptions, passing forward, holding off markers, I really what it takes to get him to do that every single game.
For those complaining about the midfield, it should be the GK position that we should all be worried about. And it’s a HUGE worry. No matter how hyped the replacement may be, we’ll never know. The only two names which would slot in and give me the confidence would probably be Buffon and Casillas. But not a chance.

  198. kel says:

Scott, it is surprising for you to praise nani so much. just kidding lol

Btw, i know that he can pass at times but i do wish he can score himself more.

A lot of the play is gone through him, and he has the rights to win the match or score the goal by himself. He helps the team to win a lot from his goal. Although i thought he is a bit selfish, no one can blame him because like scott say he is so effective.

In a match, he always assists one and score one. Yesterday, he assist one for chico and all he knows is scoring one for himself next. Yesterday he play well on his left although he is a bit unlucky not to score. Fabio standing in for him score so easily in a unchallenged area makes nani look more unlucky yesterday.

  199. KingOfStretfordEnd says:

While Rooney could be in hot soup, i’m still supporting him, and that’s because if his incident is gonna be brought to the FA, then rightly, the challenge on Evra should be as well. Its stupid double standards for us again.

  200. musca says:

    timbo 20:05
    G-lee 22:55

good god, somebody finally understood what i meant. for all the times ive been criticizing nani and nobody back me up, finally somebody sees the game as i do. timbo, well spotted on, im 100% on your side. G-lee, you too mate, i like the part where you says ; he shud stop to try to be Ronaldo, just be nani that passes the game more and think more. He has got a lot to learn, that was right. I just disagree with you on the line that says ; he might be the best winger in the world. i think he wasnt there yet. But he will be, if he keep up his vision and decision making.

He got talent. No doubt about that. His pacing, his goalscoring ability, he has got 9 goals and 14 assists – thats unbelievable.

But last season, when berbatov produced lots and lots of assist with less goals, why nobody regarded him as much as you guys regarded Nani today.

This season, when rooney provided hell kind of impossible assist, why nobody regarded him as much as you guys regarded Nani today.

The thing is, i dont care about how many goals he made. Lets take a look at the Fifa ballon d’or candidate, Xavi has only got 3 goals this season, with 10 assists in ALL competition. Well, in the case of statistics, Nani was better than him, but still Xavi is regarded as one of the best players today. whats wrong with that? the thing is, Xavi has got more mentality, composure, decision making and vision., with less pace and selfishness

And please, dont compare nani with bale. who is bale? bale is not up to our United standard. Nani is up to our standard, he’s good, but he needs to learn a lot. to nani, please dont try to be another ronaldo. we’ve moved on and we dont need him. in this kind of season where our strikers are lack of inconsistency, we need somebody who can be our next Beckham. with lots of power free kicks and good crossing for our Berba, Chica and Rooney to volley on. Set pieces taker- i think thats what we desperate for the most.

  201. musca says:

and in addition, i miss Nani that plays with us against the Munchen. who knows how to pass at the right time and shoot at the right time.

  202. redindian says:

Agreed about Carrick. I thought he was really composed on the ball and was key.

@ musca – i agree with you about nani, and another area he needs to improve is from dead balls. sometimes his corners refuse to go anywhere further than the first man. he’s a quality player.. he just needs to improve his decision making.

  203. kel says:

Hmm. Musca maybe you are right. But nani is nani like you mention. You cant expect him to be like beckham crossing well and being unselfish. Messi at times can be selfish too. Every good players are being selfish at times. There’s no wrong. Nani did pass and shoot equally. At the pace he is running, do you expect him to see the scenery beside him when he is a ferrari himself? If you are riding a bicycle then perhaps he can be counted as selfish.

  204. vILHELM28 says:

Very good summary Scot, words out of my mouth. Concerning player of the year – in my book it’s a race between Nani and Vidic – Vidic has been totally outstanding as well and has kept United in games when they have been under siege.

  205. musca says:

@ kel, good sunday. cheers mate :)

i dont expect him to be like beckham. i just need somebody who has the mentality like bekcham. how beckham sees the game, how beckham delivers the ball. and how beckham taking the set pieces.

nani can shoot, he’s good at shooting. but he must know when and where to shoot.

Man Utd always have this one person that takes the game forward. We had robson, cantona, beckham, ronaldo time ago. but to know now that we only have nani, its not up to our superiority like it should be. its a bit frustrating ive to admit.

  206. musca says:

and i mean kel, if nani is back to the way he plays when we’re against the Bayern, its good enough for me. i dont want to see another Ronaldo wannabe on the pitch. I just want nani, creatively, as the way he is.

  207. musca says:

    kel, its me again yaw.

    i reread your post that says ;

    1) But nani is nani like you mention. You cant expect him to be like beckham crossing well and being unselfish. – no, nani that i know is not like that before. nani that i know is the one who cross a lot, pass a lot, run a lot, take the game forward, create chances for other people. look at how he plays again Munchen. look at how he plays against Arsenal last season, where he cud have scored the goal but he assist it to Rooney anyhow.

    2) Every good players are being selfish at times. There’s no wrong. Nani did pass and shoot equally. – i beg to differ to that. there are only a few good players that’s selfish. zidane’s not, beckham’s not, kaka’s not, scholes’ not… but george best, ronaldo, cantona are selfish, but the thing is, they do have the ability to shoot from distance, they do have the ‘thing’ to be selfish. but nani doesnt have that ‘thing’. his long shot are often wide from the post.

    3) At the pace he is running, do you expect him to see the scenery beside him when he is a ferrari himself? If you are riding a bicycle then perhaps he can be counted as selfish. – i dont care if he gets his goal when nobody is there for him to pass on. i just care when he trying to shoot when he got berbatov and rooney in the middle. he shud just pass the ball to them instead of trying his so called long shot.

  209. Zibbie says:

I worked yesterday and on my lunch break I read the first 150 posts or so then watched the game om DVR when I got home. Rooney had a better game, yes still not the player of early last year. But a good game.
Nani for all his personal talent team play seems to elude him more then half the time. Rooney and all other attacking players get very little service from Nani and he still has so many assists a paradox as I see it.

  210. T. says:

I just love the way Berba passed the ball instead of shooting at the one-o-one. If Nani starts taking notes from Berba, Nani will double his assist account.

Pure class from Berba as always.

  211. musca says:

    @ T.

    i agreed with you 100 times :D

too bad nobody really sees that when he didnt score much last season. and i do find a little bit of berbatovesque in rooney this season. too bad not all people can see that rooney do contribute much to the goals tally.

what do utd fans want actually? a selfish goal crazy player?

  212. willierednut says:

Yeah, because Nani’s 14 assists is an appalling stat. We’d be fucked without him this season. He’s stepped up and is producing sublime performances every week, but some still find fault. Also, his 14 assists would suggest, he is passing/crossing the ball. I feel some on here, are nit picking and IMO, there’s no need for It. Berbatov’s pass was simple really. Rooney done the same for Ronaldo.

  213. musca says:

    @ willierednut

we’d fucked without him? hmm youve got the point there, but i dont agree with you. but i do know he is an important player for us if he starts to improve on his decision making. i never doubt his passing skill though, i know he made great assists. but if he’s being a little less selfish, he would get double the number the assist he got today, and he’ll become our immortals just by that. when he’s being selfish, he cost us a game, just like how he cost us during the wolverhampton game.

  214. musca says:

and which part of nani’s performance are sublime? his long shot tryout? his out of nowhere spot kick? his selfishness?

berbatov passes are simple? you mean simpler than nani? oh , goddd

    :)

  215. willierednut says:

musca – You seem a simple chap. You can’t understand English? Berbatov pass was simple. Even you could’ve made It. As for Nani costing United the game at wolves, are you a wum? Or, are you serious? He scored the goal, that got us in front. I didn’t know he was expected to keep Wolves out at the other end. Maybe you should write a letter to Sir Alex, informing him, that you want Nani to become a CH as well, as creating goals for other players in the team and scoring goals himself.

  216. willierednut says:

Furthermore, the best players can be selfish, just look at Ronaldo? Nani is fast becoming a really top player for United. As I said before, if he was to get injured, we’d be in big trouble. Go back to the City game, he played them cunts on his own in the first half. Sometimes he does take the shot on, when other players are better placed, but maybe, and this has been pointed out by other people on here, just maybe the manager has told him to be more selfish this season.

  217. musca says:

    @willie

hey chill mate. its a place of discussion. i didnt say youre wrong. i was saying that youve got your point there, but i cant agree with you. nobody can say anybody’s a wimp here, we’re all got our point didnt we? :D

okay lets take this step to step. yeap he scored the goal against wolves, but did he passed the ball to our strikers when he have the chance too? his goal for us at that time didnt count for us, as we’ve actually lost at last, but if he pass the ball, then it’ll help, he’ll become the hero, we’d be fucked without him. but the thing is, he didnt, he was being selfish, and that fucked us ourselves.

berbatov’s passing was simpler than nani. okay lets say im on your side and im agreeing with you. if nani’s passing was so great, then why he didnt use his God-gift abilty well? why on earth when berbatov is in the middle, he didnt pass the ball to him and let him score? why on earth when rooney is in the middle, he didnt pass the ball to him and let him score? when we could have trashed man city 5-1 on that day, we didnt. because nani assisted rooney one time, and he did take his ‘selfish long shot ‘ 4/5/6/7 times himself. i never counted. too disgusted, sorry.

and what is it bro? ronaldo? okay so nani trying to be as good as ronaldo? with that pace and step overs? okay fine, he wanna be ronaldo. bale wanna be like ronaldo. chamberlain wanna be like ronaldo. theo walcot does. everybody wanna be like ronaldo. god, am i underrating him too much, or is it we that has lost the real nani that i always knew- my fav player even when ronaldo was around. nani’s game against arsenal last season is still one of the bestr thing ive seen in football.

truth is, with paces and skill, nobody shud be like ronaldo. look at robbem he got his own style. messi too. navas is fast and he got his own style. yes good players can be selfish sometimes, but only sometimes. ask giggs, he was selfish too at times, but his selfishness is right at the right place, at the right time. i guess nani’s ronaldoesque selfishness is okay with you and to the most of the people, and thats why most of the people hated berbatov so much last 2 season, because he was being UNselfish, now i understand why.

i miss the old nani that plays best last season.

with that pace, with that vision, with that unselfishness, he helped rooney a lot when we dont have tony.

so long and goodbye, my fav nani. and welcome to the heroic world, Ro-nani, the people’s champ.

  218. willierednut says:

musca – I’m chilled mate. You’ve made the same points as before, so we’ll disagree on some aspects and agree on others. The bottom line for all of us is, Nani has become one of our most effective players this last 12 months. We don’t know if the manager has told him to shoot more often, but I’ll agree that when Berbatov, Rooney or Hernandez are in better positions, he should pass/cross the ball to them. What we have to understand, is players like Nani are a force of nature on the pitch. If you listen to Bobby Charlton, or Denis Law, talking about George Best, they would say he wouldn’t pass them the ball on occasions. It’s the age old question, do you want him in your tean every week? A firm yes from all of us, I would suggest. On Berbatov, I’m a big fan of him and in all honesty, I was urging him to shoot more often last season.

I can see were some fans are coming from on Nani’s selfish play. I hated the way Ronaldo tried to win the champions league final on his own, against Barcelona. These players can drive us fans crazy at times, but you always know, they can produce magic moments, that literally leave you gob smacked. A bit like this. ;)

  219. musca says:

    @willie

    good day dude :)

hmm i can say you made a good point there. and when you’re saying about Best, thats a god point too. talking about selfish player, we can name a few, even Cantona did that. but nani is not best, nani is not cantona. his long shot are awful. i can say okay to his crossing but his free kick was awful. and cant you see, he doesnt have the right to be selfish. he;s just not ronaldo.

and the same old question, do i want him in the team every week? ill say yes. because he’s all that we have, when man utd could have a lot better. when we’re out of park and tony and giggs, do you want to have obertan on our wing, tho he’s less of experience? ill say yes, we dont have a better option. the same thing goes here. we dont have the best one, so we’ll take what we got. because we’re too afraid to spend money to get a good ‘visionary man’. i dont mean sneidjer or kaka here, the expensive one. we cud have van der varrt for less when he’s on sale. lets just have arteta. we need a piece taker, a good passer.
