Rio: Captaining CL Win Against Chelsea Was Phenomenal

Rio Ferdinand has reflected on his eleven years at the club and he said that winning the title in his first season was the biggest highlight.

He also had a special mention for the 2008 Champions League final when he captained the club in our victorious game over Chelsea.

“Winning the first Premier League trophy, because you think it’s never going to happen,” he said. “The Champions League night was just unbelievable, you don’t think in your wildest dreams that you’re ever going to get your hands on that trophy. To be captain that night was phenomenal, a bonus on top of everything else. Probably the manager’s last trophy as well, to be a part of his last championship team is a great thing.”

Rio is the man. So glad United stuck by him with the ban and Chelsea’s blatant tapping up. He’s up there with Jaap Stam.

Rio’s top drawer.Always love his goal celebrations, says all the right things about the club and to think he called his international career quits due to is strict regime which meant prolonging his days for United makes him all the more likeable.Long live Rio.

Rio5′s never die attitude is one to be admired, remember him so eager to get back on the pitch bleeding when some tosser threw that coin on the pitch. He has well and truly earned his testimonial after the great years of service at United. Here’s hoping he still has something left in the tank for this season

Catching up on all the drama and discussion i missed yesterday and then this post comes up.
Does anyone think we aren’t favourites to land the league? Well they must be delusional.
But, the big thing that everyone wants is the Champions league and Acknowledgment that we are indeed the best in the country. Points accumulation won’t do it. As we’ve seen over the last 2-3 years. We’ve got to bring back the “good ol days” when teams lost before they even stepped out onto the OT turf, difficult i know, but thats the challenge we’ve set for ourselves.

  11. Squeaky says:

Look how highly rated Rio’s always been around the world. He’s earned every penny he’s paid. I don’t blame him for getting the contract he deserved. United paid it in the end didn’t they?

    As for Rooney…
