Our defender, who should be given the captaincy from the start of next season, has today claimed there’s no way he will be missing out on playing in Rome.
“I’m fine,” said Rio. “I trained with the ball today and did some running, so I’m doing all the movements I need to be doing before a game. I’ve not thought about not playing in the final. It’s as simple as that. No chance. Physically I’d be able to do it, no problem. This has been perhaps the hardest and most important injury battle of my career. There is so much at stake. But I haven’t even thought much about the final. I have been so engrossed in my injury that I haven’t thought about much else. I will start thinking about the actual match when I am sitting on the plane to Rome.”

Finally the man has spoken!If he says he is going to be fine,i am going to put my house on him to play in Rome.It will be tough on Jonny Evans but it’s Rio’s calming influence that has got us by in Europe.Just give him 30 minutes at Hull to get some warm up and then he will be ready for Barca.
i am very sure evans in his hearts of hearts will be happy for rio to play if he is fit.

denton davey : i disagree with you mate.its just the natural understanding between the pair that works so well.its same the other way round when Vida misses a match and Rio has to partner Evans.no doubt they are top defenders in the world but the chemistry between them is brilliant.

Rio is fit I think Fergie is playing a bit of a game of kidology with Barca, he did the same with Becks in 99, I remember Beckham(TM) with an ice pack on his leg before the final, it will be interesting to see if he plays any part against Hull.
