Robson: I Know Gerrard and Carrager Are Hurting

Former Manchester United captain, Bryan Robson, who lifted the Premiership trophy for United back in 1993, has spoken about how Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher must be feeling.

With United looking good to retain a 19th league title, particularly after our 2-1 win over Liverpool yesterday, there is even more emphasis on the fact this season marks a 20th year without a title for the scousers.

“I know how players like Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher must feel,” Robson said. “As a United player, it was horrible having to watch Liverpool lift trophy after trophy while we had to settle for the odd cup success. Before United’s title win in 1992-93, it had been 26 years since the club had last lifted the trophy and believe me, we all knew about it — everybody reminded you.”

  6. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    i think this summer will have a new owner at liverpool he fsw will get the boot aswell as his non english speaking spanish mates he has at that club and they’ll get different scouts in and maybe torres will get his 4-5 player wish

    aaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
    i feel for you
    the reason liverpool havent won the title in 20 years
    the reason that liverpool look to be heading to 8th place
    is because SIR Alex has a red nose :)
    the reason he has that is because he buys drinks top class wiskey
    Rafa beneath’us just buys cheep shit wiskey he read somewhere that it was a good wiskey and he’d just give up on drinking it half way down the bottle

  15. Tonka Norris says:

    Mostly I laugh when they blame it on the money. Leaving aside the fact that Pool outspent us, the fact remains that United built on their success. Liverpool were once in the same position but they pissed the money away.

  16. Ashish says:

    During Liverpool’s success,United fans were jealous and resentful of Liverpoll’s success.
    Liverpool fans were and still are resentful of the fact that despite their team winning lots of trophies more than 20 years back,they perceived the media of overlooking their achievements in favour of tidbits about United.

    Come to 2010,despite the fact that Liverpool have come nowhere close to challenging United for top honours for 2 decades,United fans still have decidedly inferior feelings towards Liverpool.

    Frankly,2-3 years from now,City will be bigger rivals than Liverpool so we should focus on them.

  17. NotoriousRedDevil says:

    @ Ashish. Once again you don’t even know what you’re talking about. -Dippers have been winding us up for years it is our birthright to give it right back. Got nothing to do with an inferiority complex. This season was going to be their year even the media backed them and it has seriously backfired. Its amusing. I bet you’re one of those fans who has United and dippers pictures on the wall.

  18. redscot says:

    Completely agree with Denton Davie,couldna give a flying fuck how those Gimps feel, waste of space.

  19. Dimitar Berbatov is King says:

    I will be honest, I don’t think Liverpool deserves pity. If Rafa Benitez used the miracle of Istanbul to properly build a team, they will be challenging for top honors. His transfer market dealings, I only see Torres as an undoubted success. He’s nothing like Sir Alex Ferguson, who despite some signings can still claim to be astute in the transfer market. I mean, Valencia proved to be a great signing this season, and what has Liverpool got to show for? Aquilani?

    Torres does not deserve to be in such a team full of fail.

  20. rubito says:

    Hi,
    I think if we win this 19th title it will be all the more gratifying, not only because we will move ahead of the Liverpool scumbags but because of our end of season run in. If you look at the fixtures, and how they fall, this is going to be very tough. But that´s the way it is and if anyone can do this then this team can.

    COME ON YOU MIGHTY REDS: UNITED UNITED UNITED

    LUHG

  21. pbozz86 says:

    @redneckAlexsir

    Even if we do, which i very much doubt it will still be one more trophy this season then your shower of shite.

  22. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    Dimitar Berbatov is King
    rafas team that won the champions league only has 2 players in it that still play today , the 2 players robbo was talking about. and he didnt buy them.
    he did something….won something and never ever built on it

  23. oohaahcantona says:

    it’s absolutely crucial that for united to retain its dominance over liverpool that the FSW retains his job. the other move would be to reemploy gerard houlier and roy evans as co-managers. that was epic.

  24. Devil's Point says:

    Pity??? Carragher? Who gives an effing toss about Carragher.. The dirty bastard robbed us of a couple of clear goal scoring opportunities earlier in the season and gets a poxy yellow card. Then their fans bemoan us for getting preferential treatment – do me a favour!

    He’s one ‘orrible, dirty bastard that Carragher, who’s overdue a swift crack in the knackers (or two)

    I am totally revelling in Liverscum’s downfall..

    Come on United!

  25. valencia's right foot says:

    ha! just met some dipper fans and they claim ‘we were robbed’. robbed my fucking arse!!! they were outplayed, outclassed and outscored. fuckin cunts. CMON NO.19

  26. valencia's right foot says:

    @oohaahcantona
    lmao spot on mate. just an idea.how about we get serious about the KRAP campaign and maybe do something like the green and gold. lol.

  27. Costas says:

    I was lucky enough to become a United fan in the middle of the Cantona era. Those who lived through the hard times that Robson is alluding to, deserve to cherish our recent success even more than us newbies. ;)

    And that’s why I will always hold captain Robson to a higher regard than captain Keane. Because he was there during the dark times and his job as captain was much more difficult.

  28. Dimitar Berbatov is King says:

    Gotta Hate Tiny Tears
    That’s why he is no SAF. Even though one should be given time like how Man Utd gave SAF time to build a team, he have spent quite a bit and produced no results on the league. That’s quite a damning verdict.

    And I am a much more recent fan, I am here because of Berbatov. It’s weird, but I like him a lot as a player during Spurs. And I have come to value the history of the club and I think I missed out a lot. But I think we should take Liverpool as a stark reminder of what could happen to us. We must never be complacent and feel that the title is our birthright, and fight for every title there is. That will then make us Man Utd.

  29. jespermoses says:

    Robbo was my boyhood hero…had a lovely Sharp Electronics white away kit in 1983 with his name on it.
    Lets just hope Stevie me and Carragher retire before they win the league.

  30. NotoriousRedDevil says:

    I caught the last 4 years of Robsons time at United and genuinely thought he was a super hero because he was nicknamed Captain Marvel. I wish I had seen him play in the 80s but alas.

  31. Lung420 says:

    Anyone know of any liverpool blogs so i can go gloat?

  32. The Redmod says:

    I was at school when the scum were champions,i’d get it most Monday mornings from all the wankers at school.There were 3 of us reds and everyone else even if they supported other teams sided with them.Being from the midlands i can’t fuly appreciate the rivalry with city because i’ve only ever come across a few city fans in my life,leeds,arsenal,blackburn,chelsea,west ham and all the others that hate us for whatever reason don’t matter one bit.But” Liverpoo” as my son used to call them when he was 3 are different..i don’t hate anyone, lifes to short for petty differences to divide us as humans..but that scum i can hate forever and a day…just wanna see them dissapear into the realms of mediocrity where they can compete with birmingham city and sunderland for the europa league spot.

  33. Giles Oakley says:

    Bryan Robson, Capt Marvel, Robbo, Capt Courageous, call him what you like, he was one of the greatest players United have ever had. Where he shades it over others is the fact that he played in a relatively poor United team and lifted them. I’m so glad he stayed at United long enough to pick up a couple of title medals, even if he was by then more of a bit player. He was all-action,completely fearless to the point of craziness, and an inspirational leader who got the best out of his team mates and helped pass on his never-say-die attitude. The other thing I liked about him was he always came across as very modest and very sporting. Although he was a terrific tackler you never felt he was trying to hurt opponents or cheat. He was a genuine ‘role model’ for kids on how to play and how to conduct yourself. Without him the 1980s would have been even more intolerable as Liverpool more or less hoovered up most of the trophies. I wish we could unearth a replica Robson now, not because we don’t have great players but because he was so very special.

  34. redscot says:

    @ lung420 lol Dogs Bollocks you will find the moronic state of things.Not like us the “The Mutz Nut’s”

  35. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    @Giles Oakley
    hello to you sir
    i asked Emily and she said she will write a blog or do a vlog in march 2060 about her fulham trip.
    now about what you said about Robbo
    i think himself and Brian mcclair had an amazing understanding together and had the same attitude and passion for the game

  36. eddiec says:

    Nice one Giles – completely agree. Robbo is a legend! Imagine him in this side – as SAF would say “bloody hell!”
    Robbo did indeed play in an average United side, often winning games through his sheer will-power and determination.
    Off the field, not so sure about him being a role model for the kids though? But I would have him in my team anyday – and my drinking team!

  37. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    i seen a program on Robson on ,utv before and it said that manchester united fans got over 60,000 signitures from standing outside oldtrafford for 3 home games to keep robbo at United when he was linked to italy

  38. Rooney Is Legend says:

    in 10-20 years time, StevieMe and Carragher will look at their “historical” playing carriers, lamenting the lack of trophies they’ve won at Loserpool FC … LMAO

    btw i’m new here … hello guys … ‘ve been a regular reader of this fantastic blog and ‘ve been a united fan since i was born … ONCE a Devil, Forever a Devil …

  39. Costas says:

    I was reading an article today, about how Leeds have lost their form after the OT win. They’ve won 3 of their last 13 games in League One and are getting close to dropping into the Play off zone. Their season ended after the win at OT. I’ve never seen that before!

  40. Danillaço says:

    Since the Scousership is going down anyway, I say we go for Torres. He’s young and still can see the light.

    Hell, Owen did it!!!!

    And would be a great coup, not only we get one of the best strikers there is (And man him up, enough 1/2 boy and 1/2 girl, he’ll be 100% man), and take out of the opposition the one striker that scares the crap out of Vidic.

    Great piece of bussiness that would be. The only player of quality in the dark side.

  41. james21 says:

    Good! I hope they keep hurting even more so when they see Michael Owen lift the Premier League Trophy in his Utd shirt.

  42. Zulu-Malta says:

    Who Cares ? May their suffering last AT LEAST till I die !!! F..k them both !!!

  43. redscot says:

    @Danillico This point regards Torres I raised on another Blog about 3 months ago I agree whole heartedly agree with you.Fernando might be a bit of a Diver and greeting faced Tosser right now but if was under the Great one’s wing he would loose that mental blockage he currently has and his blatant skill would be honed and polished.Can you dare to imagine himself and Wayne would be awesome.
    I also had the Cheek to suggest we sign Cesc Fabregit and nick Joe hart from Birmingham/Shitty.And was slagged of for that.lol
    I realise this would cost in the region of 100 million squids, but if we have !? the moolah I personally cant think of a better way to invest it for the future of our Club long term.
    But has you correctly point out Fernando’s hideaway is just a few miles up the Motorway where he would enjoy Success which he craves for.

  44. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    I hate people who always type in capatals but ill do it now
    because I want people to remember me saying it
    I was always on board for Owen to come
    Id take joe cole for free no proble but

    I DONT WANT TORRES AT MANCHESTER UNITED

    and you can quote me on that

  45. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    if united win the league this year owen will get his medel

    please let him pick up that medel in a united jersey

    No Suits Please

  46. redscot says:

    @GHTT roflmao.”quote me on that” Sorry I dont steal other peoples quotes or punchlines or nuffin.I work things out for myself and have my own thoughts not a Sheep that just blindly follows.
    Although you are most certainly entitled to your own opinion tell me is your Dog ok? and carefull you dont loose yer white Stick.

  47. james21 says:

    @ Redmod
    Gr8 comment. I hate them too more than any other team.

  48. King Eric says:

    Giles – Fantastic post at 18.25 Could not agree more about Robbo. His performance against Barca in 1984 was one of the best I have seen. Fans holding him aloft and carrying him from the pitch. I always used to buy New Balance boots. He had 3 broken legs , broken ankles, broken collar bones. A real tough guy who put himself about but the archetypal box to boxer. Regularly scored from midfield.

    When he didn’t play United didn’t.

  49. Rooney Is Legend says:

    how bout david villa? rumours are that he is heading to united after the world cup?
    Villa > Torres anyone? anytime anyday for me … one of the world’s best strikers IMO

    check the report here …
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1259554/Manchester-United-linked-huge-35m-summer-bid-Valencia-star-David-Villa.html

  50. King Eric says:

    gotta hate – Yeah that is true mate. The petition to keep Robson from moving to I think Inter or Juve.

  51. kaihnsn says:

    i can understand what are robbo trying to tell us. i know united and support them early 80s when i just 8-9 years old. at that time i cant differentiate between league, fa cup and league cup lol. when united beat brighton for fa cup i think, i became confuse why pool celebrate league trophy and league cup. i dont read english until my early 20. back then all i know about united through local newspaper.

    so united board, the manager after saf, palyers and fan appreciate the success how hard or easy they come. and the most important thing for the club dont repeat our mistake when busby gone in early 70s.

  52. SITS says:

    Surely Robbo’s comments are the ultimate wind up? Imagine being Gerrard or Caragher and reading that an United legend pities them. That has to be the ultimate insult for them! :)

  53. eddiec says:

    King Eric -”he broke 3 legs” ! Wow, no wonder he was so good…. :)

  54. Red1990 says:

    Let them hurts, Liverfools are scums, the only thing that ever good coming out Liverpool was The Beatles, and they could have been evertonians.

    Oh and of course Wayne Rooney and Little Mickey Owen..

    Glory Glory Man Utd

  55. redscot says:

    @kaihnsn You Mate have supported the Club for a long long time, Hat’s off to you mate.Tell me please one of the Key points in your Post was the huge matter of Sir Alex’s successor.In my opinion( which is a drop in the Ocean) this is the huge, enormous even, decision we will have to reach sooner rather than later.Who would you as a supporter Like Want in the hot seat as the custodian of the Club.

  56. Sanj says:

    THURSDAY NIGHT, CHANNEL FIVE

  57. Sanj says:

    Who needs Torres when you have Rooney?

  58. Danillaço says:

    @redscot

    Well, If we could pull Torres would be amazing. GHTT may be a hater of Torres, but trying really hard to forget he’s a Scouse Bastard, I can see the great striker he is. I would take him in a heartbeat, no doubt.
    Fabregras, well what team wouldn’t go for the guy, he’s really talented and would be a perfect fit for United, but that’s quite impossible of happening. Torres could be difficult, but seeing LiverFool as it is, is worth the shot.

    Him and Di Maria would be a perfect transfer season, but maybe is a little too muppet.

  59. Danillaço says:

    @Sanj
    It’s not a question of one or the other.

    *Just to confirm, Rooney is the best striker in the world today.

  60. Sanj says:

    Torres is not coming to United. Let’s be serious here!

  61. Sanj says:

    If Liverpool were going to sell Torres, do you know what kind of competition there would be for his transfer? The fee would continue to increase, with the likes of Citeh and Chelsea offering preposterous sums of money that frankly, we cannot, and should not, compete with. This of course is all secondary to the fact that Fernando Torres is a scouse bastard. No thank you.

  62. worlds most pessimistic red devil says:

    As a player Torres is class, no doubt but he really acts silly many times which he can control especially when things are not going his way. last 2 seasons he was the best striker the league however this season rooney is the best followed by drogba

    let the fact that he plays for Liverpool not make us so blind that we cant judge him as a footballer

    As for owen i back him because he is at united but i wouldnt have wanted him too. It was just a stop gap arrangement

  63. aig alex is god says:

    As much as i like torres as player and admit he is top class his behaviour in games like yesterday and avoidable acts of petulance make him look silly and lose the respect i have for him.

  64. Costas says:

    Say Torres comes to United. It won’t solve our problems because at the moment United can’t play 4-4-2 in every game. And that has nothing to do with Rooney’s strike partner. It’s because we haven’t found a solid robust midfield duo that will protect the backline enough. Could a Fletch-Hargo combination change that? It depends. Can they play week in week out together for an entire season?

  65. Sanj says:

    @Costas
    Be careful blaming our midfield… you are going to start another Berba-bashing! ;)

  66. aig alex is god says:

    @Costas

    i think depending on the formation roles are being assigned to specific players. in a 4-4-2 fletcher dosent exactly play as box to box midfiedler but is more in a defensive role(especially in games after the 4-3 win over city). in a 4-5-1 however fletch plays as a proper box to box midfielder with carrick the man who sits a bit deep and scholes controlling the tempo. of late SAF has opted to mark the main opposition player using park which has worked very well so far

  67. King Eric says:

    The ladyboy won’t be coming to United so get that notion out your heads lads.

    eddiec – Yeah mate and that three broken legs isn’t me exaggerating it is actually a fact!

    Had to laugh at the “monday night club” on 5live lauding Fletcher and Park and United. Saying how they are top mid fielders and have great engines and will be vital to United’s title charge. They were saying how the Chav’s don’t have the legs in the middle of the park. I have said this all fucking season, any football fan could see that. These are the same mugs that 3 months ago were saying how none of our lads in midfield would get in the Rentboys starting 11. How dare they? Slag United all season in favour of anyone but, only to act like they had tipped us for the title all along when we hit form. Fucking cunts.

  68. King Eric says:

    Fergie rarely buys Spanish players. Perhaps their mentality ain’t right for United. Fuck Fabregas. He never does fuck all against us or in the big games. He isn’t cut from United cloth.

  69. Costas says:

    @Sanj

    Lol, yeah. Because Berba should be a main striker and also man marking opposition midfielders! Those debates always start regardless of the conversation!

    @AIG

    Yeah that’s true. Also, Scholesy makes more runs into the opposition box when he plays in a 4-4-2 as opposed to 4-5-1. Don’t know how that happens!

    Looking back though, I think that Fergie’s faith in 4-4-2 in big games was lost after the Liverpool 4-1 loss. He brought it back only for the Anfield game and then he dropped it again. I wonder what it will take for Fergie to start another big game with 4-4-2.

  70. james21 says:

    Liverscum will not sell Torres to Utd. In the programme yesterday I was reading the article on the last player Phil Chisnall to move between the clubs, 46 years ago. He said back then there wasn’t the same rivalry as there is now. Remember We wouldn’t let Heinze go to them and he slagged Fergie off for ‘Wrecking his dream move’
    We would have to deal with Torres’ next club because I fully believe he’s off at the end of the season.
    No doubting Torres is class and like Michael Owen he can redeam his Soul.
    Its a shame one of the greatest football songs ‘Half a girl Half a boy’ May not be heard again.

  71. Costas says:

    @King Eric

    The only Spaniard I can remember at United is Ricardo the goal keeper. I think he gave away something like 3 penaties in his first season! Has there been anyone else?

    Being a bit old school, there was one Spaniard I wanted us to buy and I think Fergie liked him a lot too. Luis Enrique of Barcelona. A fantastic midfielder. He looked like Keano.

  72. King Eric says:

    aig – I have to disagree mate about Fletch and Carrick. I am sure in a 4-4-2 Carrick sits deep and Fletch gets forward . .

  73. King Eric says:

    Costas – Yeah mate I was a big fan of Louis Enrique. Only resembled Keane when he got his head skinned though. I remember him with long hair earlier on.

  74. james21 says:

    Just off topic has anyone viewed the gallery on Manutd. com? some crackers especially Rooney and Ronaldo celebrating.

  75. Costas says:

    And to finally put the “Velencia dived” crap to rest, if you look at one of the replays, as he is getting into the penalty box, he his looking to his right to see who’s there. He wasn’t looking to go down.

    And something that I have been wondering. At the start of Liverpool’s goal, doesn’t Carrick get fouled?

  76. King Eric says:

    Costas – Yeah I am convinced Carrick was brought down in the centre circle area, I mentioned that last night.

  77. Costas says:

    @King Ericv

    Ah ok. I thought I was seeing things. He goes down heavily and I think he touched the ball, so it’s not like Torres nicked it from him.

  78. rooney the new king says:

    we missed out on torres in summer of 2007 when we opted to go for tevez, but like I say to fit into the current united system I hope united sign aguero, at 22 hes got energy class and can create goals out of nothing and can be has good as rooney.

    I have changed my opinion on messi, he is now by far the worlds best player, rooney is close but messi is miles ahead, and I still am laughing how some can say ronaldo is better than messi when they are miles apart, messi the new goerge best

  79. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    Redscot
    quote me on that doesn’t mean say what i say. Are you having a laugh

    @costa
    we really were there cup final
    leeds lost 2-0
    Leeds list again

  80. Lung420 says:

    @Rooney Is Legend

    Personally i think we are ok in the striker department, now i only said ok because we still have to see how duiof and macheda come along, i wouldnt mind seeing an attacking midfielder coming to us. Also wouldnt mind a good replacement for Giggs, even though it seems he is getting better every year lol wouldnt mind having someone to give him a break, or a good keeper.

  81. Costas says:

    @GHTT

    Again? 3 in 14. I hope it was worth it. Especially if they get stuck at League One for another year.

  82. redscot says:

    @Danillico, fuck the past Ronaldo and other stupid idea’s and let’s not get confused here lads about the Scouser thingie.For the Love of God and the Mary fuckin Jesus, recognise the man is a fucking class act.It would be in I reckon 8 Epl league win’s on de trot with my Signing’s.
    Buddie’s try reading a few Scum blogs they are shite scared now they will loose there Main asset, fuck Gerrard he is a wanker a zero.And as I Posted some lads think Akinfeev or other GK s are better, fuck that, save the buggering around just buy Joe Hart he is going to be Englands No 1 and suits us perfectly.
    I know my fantasy about Fabregit is far fetched, but you gotta have imagination, it could Happen right!
    Believe On On On

  83. Giles Oakley says:

    Hi Gotta Hate, tell Emily I’ve put it in my 2060 diary to watch her vlog on her first game. I’m looking forward to it!

    Eddiec, maybe I was overstating the role model bit, when I think of the drinking. But in his behaviour, even with a skinful he was always polite and helpful and a good team mate, as far as I’ve ever heard. I’ve seen him ‘off duty’ a few times and he has always carried himself with dignity. As England captain he was always respectable, although there were all sorts of rumours about his private life, come to think of it, but never in the John Terry mode, I hope …

  84. rooney the new king says:

    Lung420 – you cant replace giggs or scholes like for like you dont clone teams they evolve into different teams, plus united are fine out wide with valencia nani park and giggs still, an attacking midfielder who where are they because they are not out there.

  85. redscot says:

    @ costa and was not Millwall in there puss? no wins since they got there win at OT. life has a odd way of getting you back! non player’s now lil Leeds and it’s fun to see.

  86. Lung420 says:

    @rooney the new king

    I never actually said anything about replacing scholes and i know out wide players are doing an great job valencia park and nani are all doing great , and as much as i would hate to see giggs go it will happen so why not be ready, david silva would be a good addition

  87. rooney the new king says:

    Lung420 – silva is to lightweight and he is injury prone, and he is quiet overated

  88. redscot says:

    @ ghtt, if u think i react to lame Post’s like yours. fuck off yer a brain cell dead twat! am assuming here yer around 13 okay let’s guess yer IQ….. I will go first 56. pmsl I am 18 Years of Age.
    please illuminate us all why you would not wish Torres in Our Club?

  89. Paul Parker says:

    no disrespect to the author at all but I really couldnt give a flying fuck who thinks what at Anfield im stil laughing at the changing room outburst lol that was absolutely hilario

    But I did wanna say that following Parks recent Winner a few fellas on the board me included made varying but brief references to “Dogs” – obviously none of which was intentionally insulting nor ill-willed. Predictably, a few people criticised us mentioning “Dogs” at all and one even called it “Racist”

    Just wanted to say that, somebody remarking that “Fletcher must have had extra Haggis” or “Rooney must have had an extra “slice” of Black Pudding” isn’t Racist. Nor is saying “Welbeck must have had his Jallof Rice” (A traditional Ghanian chicken/rice dish) None of these examples are Racist.

    I can’t speak for others but all I said myself was HE IS A TRUE UNITED PLAYER EVEN IF HIS HOME COUNTRY EATS DOGS.

    Thats all I said, and Firstly, its a fucking giggle.

    Secondly, and more to the point, I said it in response to the LIE planted by the media that we bought Park just to sell shirts. Prior to Park we’ve all been aware that Dogs are eaten in places around the World, but I’ll tell you this, I didn’t specifically know it was Korea till I read it in a paper article about our (then) new signing Ji Sung Park’s home country. Lets think back. The Media treated Park as an oddity, did they not? Perhaps you haven’t even noticed that in sections of the Media they still fucking do. Aren’t they the ones right now finally acknowledging Parks “remarkable” adaptation of the “english” game despite him being here in England for years, playing well I might add, in Europe, nonetheless.

    His praise for a solid performance is Justified, but all this belated praise is BOLLOCKS and we shouldnt be grateful to the media for it. Any Red who knows the game has already been convinced by Park prior to this Season. He’s still maturing to boot.

    But anyway, all im saying is regardless of where the FUCK he’s from, Park has proven he is A TRUE MANCHESTER UNITED PLAYER, and I don’t mean he’s proven it to ME, I mean he’s proven it to the REAL RASCIST CUNTS AKA THE UNBIASED MEDIA who raised the question of our Clubs motives in the first place. Fuck me its not rocket science.

    Most people reading about Park since his arrival haven’t been ofended once. I was offended from the beginning by the not so subtle overtones, even tho I was accustomed to it. I just continued to trust the decision making of our Manager.

    So back to the BEAUTIFUL GAME I never doubted Alec, only a FOOL would.

    We all know he’s a Wiley Old Man, so yes, Im sure Uniteds foray into the Far East Market opened doors for many Korean Players to be seen by our Scouts. Would Park have been given the opportunity to be seen had we not been in the Far East for new Revenues? Personally I don’t give a fuck and I never did. He’s OUR Player regardless of his unique culture. We have Serbian, Brazilian, Senegalese, Italian, Ghanian, Scottish, Cape Verdean and Irish players, to name a few. We even have our own Scouse. so I really couldn’t give a fuck who eats what. That sounds both queer and alien to me.

    Put on our Shirt and represent it, thats all I ask of our Diverse Players.

  92. Paul Parker says:

    sorry for the long post, just catching up on that page, and defending being called racist.

  93. Lung420 says:

    but does anyone think fergie will spend this summer?

  94. Paul Parker says:

    lol cheers redscot.

    I willed on Park EVEN MORE to play well for us after that label was put on him by those bastards.

    I love an underdog, me.

  95. rooney the new king says:

    Lung420 – fergie does need to spend on 3 players, a GK a striker and a CM, I would not go for the attacking midfielder because put anderson up with a fletcher hargreaves he blossums. I would sign another powerful tackling midfielder. a striker is a must to help rooney out, aguero would be the perfect signing to fit into a 433 system or come off the bench to change the game, and a quality keeper to replace VDS.

  96. Paul Parker says:

    Lung420

    To be honest mate I’ve been thinking about that and im quite used to the idea of us not spending if the value isn’t there. Regardless of whether we win any more Silverware I think this season has already been a small success of sorts. Many of our players have stepped up to the Plate and grown in maturity. Thats Priceless. So next season, with everybody back including Anderson and (hopefully) Hargreaves, I think we can push on just as we are and be even stronger.

    I do think we’ll spend something, we’ll bring in at least one defender, perhaps another attacking option, maybe, but looking at our full squad I’d much rather see Kiko, Welbeck and Diouf have a fair go, why chase after big names when we always MAKE big names? I want to see Pogba. Also, Nani and Valencia have the wings covered and we’ve already signed Obertan. He looks impressive so far considering he hasn’t even unpacked yet. Centre Midfield? Carrick and Fletcher have been reliable and unsung as ever this season, and Scholes and Giggs continue to play their special roles. Anderson and the Influencial Hargreves will both be fighting for a first team place next year too, while Gibson has shown promise in areas of his game and deserves more playing time.

    Soooo to answer your question I think we WILL spend, but I think it will be frugally, which is fine by me, I’ll just try not to cringe when you know who attemps to sway our supporters with scare stories.

    WHO in Europe wouldn’t want our CURRENT players? We don’t have to buy, and if that reduces our debt even quicker then its a bonus. Even if we get new owners, it doesn’t change the fact that spending when you don’t have to isn’t always wise.

    We’re yet to see Fabio force Alec to rest Evra more. Smalling will be used to rest Rio/Vidic next Seaon. We have an amazing young squad already imo.

    The brightest prospect in Europe in fact, and we’ll only get better.

  97. rooney the new king says:

    Paul Parker – you dont go into next season if we are succesful and not strengten the squad, a striker is a huge priority this summer, how ever other players have done united have not got alot out of the strikers beyond rooney so a striker is needed badly next season.

    the CM needs strengten because carrick is gettin worse, hargreaves there is no garentee what he will be like next season, scholes may not even sign a new contract and even if he does he will be 36, anderson will have had to recover from a bad injury, gibson is awful and if flether is missed in the big games we miss him badly.

    in goal VDS will need a replacement because kuszszec and foster are not good enough to take his place

  98. Paul Parker says:

    Rooney the new King

    Your absolutely right about a new Keeper, I completely forgot to consider it. Thats mainly down to VDR’s solid presence, but we know he unfortunately cannot continue forever. I think that Alec will show us all whether he intends to stick with our current second and third choice Keepers, or branch out for new talent. To be honest, I’ll be happy with his choice either way, because I think Foster if he stays will sort out his occasional laspes in concentration and be a great Keeper for us. My only faults of his game can all be remedied with experience. He is a natural shot stopper. I also think Kuzsask has played well for us when he’s had to fill in. Maybe im being too kind but despite being nervious when he’s in goal I can’t really think of his most recent clanger. He would benefit from being told he is number one.

    But eitherway, for now I think VDR has another great year in him, just like our Captain does.

    It will be interesting to see if we do bring in a Keeper tho, I think Gordon has been solid all season….

  99. Ryan says:

    Think if we splashed out on a combative defensive midfielder (like a Hargreaves type player), it might be all we need to complete this current United team. That way, we can play 4-4-2. 4-4-3, 4-5-1 with strength and bit more confidence (esp in 4-4-2). Feels like we have all the other parts, kinda just need an anchor in midfield. I believe then, the likes of Berbatov, Obertan, Tony, Nani will grow INTO the players we think we need to buy ‘now’.

    Just thinking about the example at Barcelona. The supporting cast around Messi seems to maximise his potential. United needs to create that same platform ongoingly for Rooney.

  100. Ryan says:

    @Paul Parker

    Totally agree.

  101. rooney the new king says:

    Paul Parker – plus its a good squad but there are still holes in the squad, yes if berbatov stepped up then the CF position would not needed strengtheng but you cant force a horse to water and reality is united need another forward, and next season to expect rooney to do the same again is really putting way to much strain on rooney and playing russian roulette on uniteds season next year when he is the only striker we have that can play the main striker in a 433 system.
    It is nothing against berbatov and owen but they cant lead the line in a 433 system, the type of players they are they are suited to 442 and that leads to another point we need a top class midfielder that can take carricks place. because carrick is playing awful, he gave the ball away more times than I ca count.

    these are the reasons why I feel the CF position needs strengthening

    owen has picked up a bad injury and he will need time to get back into the swing of things.

    kiko is still injured and he along with welbeck who has also had a bad injury and they will need time and are they going to really step up I doubt it.

    berbatov will need surgery on his knee and thats going to recuce uniteds striking options even more. add the fact he off to world cup

    diouf is way to raw and he looked it in the game against wolves to play ahead of uniteds better strikers

    rooney is also off to world cup and we have no idea what could happen to him

    .

  102. rooney the new king says:

    Ryan – WTF are you talking about, you telling me fletcher park valencia nani park even carrick are not good enough supporting cast for rooney, OH I forgot they are not superstars how about shut the hell up.

  103. Paul Parker says:

    Rooney the new King

    Still, I think Berbatov will have a better Season next year. After being optimistic for Berby this Season I became disillusioned with his failure to play aggressively enough to warrent his inclusion at the expense of not having a five man midfield. But following his excellent and full blooded performance in the Final he’s consistently played with extra purpose. I’ve been waiting all Season for him to run past players into the box like he did against Fulham.

    I think after this Campaign and hopefully after winning some more Silverware we’ll see the best of him next Season. Its just my opinion but I don’t think we NEED another Striker. Of course I won’t complain if Benzema pops up, but to be honest I’d much rather see Welbeck and Kiko and Diouf get a fair run than see Villa or Augero or even Benzema joining us. I’d much rather see our Young Strikers play. We have 3 secondary Strikers after Berby and Roonie lets not forget, and I think ONE of them will rise to the occasion if given the chance. Did I mention OWEN?

    Nah, its just my opinion, but I don’t think we’re missing a Striker for next Season. If our youngesters underwhelm in 2010/11 so bet it, but I think Alec will give them a chance to Shine. Kiko isn’t being rushed back for a reason, and Welbeck isn’t at Preston for no reason. Had Diouf put away his three chances on his last brief appearance he would’ve forced Alec to play him again. He comes highly rated by Ole lest we forget. Our team right now is a match for anybody in Europe. Sure we have to look at strengthening certain positions, and sure certain youngesters need to step up. But people were calling for a replacement to Valencia early on, and recently people were calling for a replacement for Nani. Our Keeper is a more urgent isse because VDR can’t play forever, but generally speaking I seriously don’t think we have to rush out and by anybody…. altho I wouldn’t complain if Benzama arrived lol.

    Its all opinions mate.

  104. Lung420 says:

    would i be too much of a judas to say i would love to see benzema in a united shirt

  105. rooney the new king says:

    Paul Parker – its not that berbatov has not stepped up its the fact of if rooney is not playing if he is suspended or injured if we play 433 then berbatov owen diouf mecheda welbeck are not good enough to play 433 or they dont fit into a 433 system.

  106. redscot says:

    Paul descibes our situation perfectly. Our Club is reshaping, it’s not a question of A miserly Scot.This is rapid and swift and torrid water’s to navigate through. Anyhow I prefer to concentrate on the Lad’s performances WE Have a fantastic right back growing each game an can only learn from Gary.A goal keeper who is aging and a PIG who sure is class but will need kept on his toes for his place and that aint Ben, sorry I hate to dis A Manchester united player.( Joe hart) A superb left Back Mon cherie! TWO of the best Centre backs in the World, and in the Background Johnie and soon to be teamed up with Chris who if SAF was runked would not have shelled out 10 million on him , would he!
    I can speak French fluently so I know what our cousins think of Gabriel he will be just fine and I endorse this, le Blanc for Manchester United makes me pig sick at the idea.( Mourhino simples)
    I personally think we are in a great place despite our OFF the field turmoil and as for our rising obvious Stars Doiuff Macheda and Danny at PNE.
    Its been a odd season as we all are aware but you gotta believe Right ,7 games to go lad’s stand up for what you believe.

  115. King Eric says:

    Thank fuck Fergie isn’t so fickle. Carrick has a bad game after being excellent the last couple of months so lets sell him eh? Fucking hell.

  116. Red Devil says:

    @ King eric

    the slagging of Carrick beggars belief………I remember having a conversation with you about this amonth or so ago. yes, he did not start the season in the best form and continued to be inconsistent for the first few months where he more about passing sideways…..but in the last coupla months he has been outstanding and has recovered his best form. it crazy how people want to sell him so quickly after just one or two average (not even bad…just average!) performances.

    just the other day, Fergie was talking about how Carrick Fletcher, Rooney and Oshea were going to carry on the tradition of winning in the dressing room after Giggs, Scholes and Nev had gone…… Carrick isn’t going anywhere for the next few years at least!!

    I guess its just that a few people havent forgiven him for his performance in last years champions league final it seems……but if Carrick can start his seasons as well as he is finishing it or at least the way he has been for the coupla months, i would have no complaints at all……

  117. California Devil says:

    Just got home from the United vs. Stool game and I want to thank all the lads I met who went out of their way to show me an awesome time in Manchester (you boys know how to drink) the 12 hour flight to Manchester was was worth it, and I hope to do it again.

    @Giles
    I’m looking forward to you watching it Sir

    @Costa (again)
    City are united local rivals but they go hand in hand with leeds and liverpool because they we’re top dogs the teams to beat our closest rivals and now in 2010 one of there cup finals are in january and liverpools was 2 days ago.

    and as read on a liverpool blog yesterday ” bring on benfica so we’ll lose 4-0 ” Faith is high

    get saving for a plane ticket to ireland for july the 10th mate

  124. aig alex is god says:

    Buy new players, dont sell anyone.We can strengthen in a few areas but i dont think we should sell anyone.i am all for Dzeko though. he is top drawer and will make it at United. However i dont want us to sell Berbatov. He is just beginning to show us his true capability. It would be really sad if we sell him now.

  125. arijc says:

    Some of the comments are amazing. Such as calling David Silva overrated.
    Support the team and the players that we have. Thankfully we have Sir Alex and his team to think about possible additions in the summer. I would be worried if some of the contributors in this blog were involved in that process.

  126. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    the only thing wrong with david silva is he doesnt play for united

  127. xol says:

    I only wish Gerrard were currently missing the end of the season due to getting banned for elbowing a player in the back of the head and sticking 2 fingers up at the referee.

  128. xol says:

    I think Mr Capello will look more to Carrick than Lampard in the world cup.

  129. aig alex is god says:

    Silva isnt over rated but i dont want him at United, His injury record isnt good. He is injured for 1/3rd of the season and is only 24.That hamsik guy from Napoli would be a batter option. However if Ando can step it up and hargo can come back we dont need anybody else especially as we have 4 wingters who are all doing really well.

  130. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    A.I.G. mate theres a contradiction in terms there with not wanting David Silva because he’s injuried but saying we dont need anyone if hagreaves can ome back, a man whos on the treatment table longer than a pair of boots. now i love hargreaves and hope he can stay injury free because he’s a first team man in my book and one of the best box to box midfielders around

  131. aig alex is god says:

    @ghtt

    i agree mate and with Silva the thing is he is more of an attacking midfielder which we dont exactly have anyone at the moment. I honestly think if he is played in that role Anderson can do the job. if i am not mistaken he was bought as an Attacking midfielder but hasnt played in that role at United. Hargreaves is a bit like fletch and is a box to box midfielder who can play at right back on the wings. I personally hope he can play more consistently next season. if not then SAF may use him for the big games like in his first season. The prospect of fletch and hargo in the same midfield is making me crazy. honestly feel fletcher is the best box to box midfielder in the world.

    Silvas price may also be a problem depending oin how may more clubs especially real and barca are interested in him. Close call but i dont doubt his quality.

  135. King Eric says:

    Walk in the Park – Fuck Pat Barclay mate.He is a Wenger loving cunt. Also said Villa would piss the league Cup final and the Chav’s would be too strong in Europe. He knows fuck all the bitter abu.

    Costas – Loved your line about selling Fletcher!

    Really not sure about Dzeko. Just a tall target man.Is that what United need at present? I don’t think it is, it will make us too static . Fergie likes interchangebale players.

  136. King Eric says:

    aig – Hello mate. I said Fletch is the best box to boxer in England. Love the way you say the world and at present I would agree .

  137. willierednut says:

    @RTNK

    United will not buy Aguero mate, he’s way overpriced and we really don’t need another striker that drops deep. If we do buy a forward in the summer, it’ll have to be someone that plays central with pace to get in behind defences. On the midfield, if Hargo can get back to full fitness, then i don’t think we’ll need anyone, we’ve got a plethora of midfield options if everyone stays fit. ps how bad are Leeds since their cup – final

  138. Lung420 says:

    no way would you pay 40 mill for silva, 20 to 25, 30 is pushin it

  139. rooney the new king says:

    King Eric – I dont think it is an overeaction with carrick, he has been poor for quiet a while, dont forget while everyone was bashing berbatov against wolves the one united player who was awful that day was carrick while players like scholes and berbatov had far more composer and they hardly gave the ball away, carrick almost cost united 3 pts when he gift rapped wolves a chance on a silver plate fortunetly for united and carrick himself wolves could not finish to save their lives.

    willierednut – I dont think he is over priced, he has the ability to change a game like that and with rooney now the complete player someone like aguero can work perfectly in a 433 system.

  140. King Eric says:

    rtnk – Don’t agree mate. Aside from Everton and Wolves Carrick has had a decent half of the season. Fergie seems to like him and he is a starter in most games. You just can’t see it can you? He keeps United ticking over mate with his one and two touch passing. You don’t play in the engine room for the last 3 years if you ain’t up to the job.

  141. Sanj says:

    Also do not agree with the slagging of Carrick- he is our metronome and helps set the pace. People always complain saying he passes ‘sideways and backwards but never forward.’ First of all, that is simply not true and second of all, being a midfielder does not just consist of hoofing the ball forward (unless you are the Scousers). Carrick distributes the ball extremely well and helps us CONTROL possession. A note to all the slaggers- passing backwards and sideways helps you keep possession. I would like to see him make some of those through balls he used to hit Ron with, but he is hardly deserving of some of the criticism. Fellaini over Carrick? Costas said it best, we might as well as replace Fletcher with Lucas. Also, Carrick has been at United 3 years, we have won 3 league titles, a European Cup, and appeared in the next year’s final (which Carrick played in with a broken toe). Get some perspective, lads!

  142. Corea says:

    Honestly don’t remember a great game from Carrick. I don’t hate any of our players but i don’t see how the player is a midfielder. In russian they name it half-defender, Carrick isn’t a half defender.
    Hope he proves me wrong at some point, hope it wouldn’t be late. But he really was missing during the Sunday game. Watch the first half carefully.

  143. Sanj says:

    @Corea
    He was off on Sunday, but he has still had some great performances. I was not lauding his performance on Sunday, as it was sub-par, but I still think he brings a lot to the team.

  144. King Eric says:

    Sanj – Spot on mate.

    Corea – Hello mate. How about Milan away? The Emirates this season? Both Citeh games? He was fantastic in all of those.

    He is similar to a Glenn Hoddle.

  145. Corea says:

    Guys, i don’t pretend i am the only one here who is right and gets all of the right points. But i can hardly say Carrick is an inspirational player. He has some decent games but Fletcher can also control the tempo of the game and у is much more of the half-defender.
    We’ll see. Respect your opinions so zero chance i will continue to argue with our on the issue.

  146. rooney the new king says:

    King Eric – I have been backing carrick but this season he has given the ball away alot to much for my liking. the past 3 seasons he has been really good but this season he has been poor. I think carrick has been uniteds weakest performer in terms of the number of games played, because anderson has not really started enough games, dont forget fergie was furious with carrick at the start of the season thats a hint fergie was not happy with carricks performences, you saw the difference when scholes came on against liverpool the distribution from scholes is a level up from carrick, carricks big problem is he sometimes holds on to the ball to much and like american football when the quater back delays the throw he gets pawned. It would be a huge mistake from fergie if carrick was sold but I am saying he has had a poor this season when you look at his 3 seasons prior to this season.

  147. Manchuchu says:

    Carrick has no sense of urgency. Playing to a rhythm is one thing but the boy is borderline asleep in some of his most appalling performances this season. Heck he looked like he was playing a completely different sport v the dippers.

    Any of you making claims that he’s world class have some seriously red-tinted glasses going on.

    Being critical doesn’t mean one is anti-united. But with some of you as long as players are in a red shirt they are somehow made immune from scrutiny with their magical cloaks of infinite excuses.

    On another note Eric at the game made me smile inside.

  148. King Eric says:

    Manchuchu – Show me anyone on here that has said he is “world class”? We have said he is integral to United and if you cannot see that then thank fuck Fergie is manager.

  149. willierednut says:

    King Eric – Quite right his performances against Arsenal and Milan where class, but i honestly think he has become stale the last 2 seasons and Sir Alex is a past – master at knowing when a players times up. Maybe Modirc could be an option in the summer and Tom Cleverly could well be knocking on the door next season.

  150. King Eric says:

    weillierednut – No I don’t agree mate, not at all. If Scholesy doesn’t play we have nobody to control the tempo of the game. Modric isn’t the answer, a good enough player but even Spurs fans say he blows hot and cold. Its maybe easy to see what he brings to the team watching him live, the space he finds and he always there to receive a pass. Anyway we both sort of disagree about him so lets leave it there. Agree completely about Cleverley though mate.
