More than any player in the squad, he makes the difference between us winning the league and not. His decision to sign a new contract in the summer and not leave for sunny shores will have immeasurable positive effects on this club for the next few seasons.
If a ball comes in the box, it is his head that is on the end of it, without fail. People use clichés like “he’s a rock in defence” but it really is true for Vida. An absolutely magnificent defender who has played a massive role in our unbeaten streak, as well as popping up with the odd goal to help us out.
So, Vida, congratulations, RoM’s best player of 2010.

Such a shame he had that lengthy injury around December 2009. His availability would have undoubtedly had a different outcome in last season’s title race. World best defender.

though i quite agree i think Rio is not given enough credit. I think they are 1a and 1b, not batman and robin. I choose Nani though. Happy New Year’s Eve!!!

Best defender in the world? He’s not even the best defender at United. Just my opinion of course, but Rio is the best CH in Europe, when he’s fit, that is lol.
Can’t disagree about Vidic. He seems to have improved if that were even possible recently and he’s an absolute titan. I like Smartalex’s word for him, Dreadnought. He is a monster at the back for us, and a tank on the attack.
What I love about his game is he wins in the air. You get nothing from him. Ever. Doesn’t matter who you are. No Fly Zone. He’s also incredibly strong, incredible powerful, but he’s not dirty with it. Watch John Terry play, he’ll go in late, he’ll bully, he’ll kick, and he’s meant to be one of the best centre halves in the country. Vidic is no saint certainly, but he’s not malicious, he’s not vindictive. He’s professional. If you come between him and the ball and it’s a fifty fifty, he’ll pulverise you, but it’s in the same way that a high speed train will pulverise you if you step in front of one. He doesn’t mean anything by it, he’s just got places to go and he’s made of steel.
I think Rio has the better distribution and I think Rio has the better skill on the deck, as a tackler and as a player of the ball, but as a defensive sentry, as a guardian of our sacred onion bag Vidic is a colossus. We’re lucky to have him.
Nemanja. He’s something else when on the field, the captain role suits him really good.

He lost some of his aura, when Torres destroyed him at OT, two seasons ago. Still a great CH and along with Rio, we’ve got the best two CD in Europe.
Agree with willie that Rio is the better defender, but Vidic has started to rediscover his goalscoring form which can be very crucial to us. Vidic is a beast but hes still prone to daft mistakes and has been very lucky to stay on the pitch a few times this year.
Rio’s reading of the game is impecable and his distribution is good but he’ s lost a few steps an if not for Vidic the defense would have fallen apart from about two season ago now, Vidic is way better in the air “to allude an what Doghouse said with vidic at the back its a no fly zone” an way stronger tackler, his only blemish is his performances against liverfools. But with that all said I have to be biase and give the nod to the best NANI

Rio does not commit 100% to his tackles now like he used to for fear of aggravating his fragile glass back. He prefers to shut down the attacks with minimal tackling

Nani for me, his transformation in 2010 was remarkable. But Vidic has also done very well and is a fully deserving winner. He and Rio remains one of the best centre-back partnerships in the world, if not the best.
Nani Berbatov and Evra havn’t ben consistant enough to win it. It’s from jan to dec not just since the start of this season. as for evra i dont think he’s been as good since last season…That leaves vida and vds… NEMANJA WOOHHH NEMANJA WOOHHH!!!

Vidic deserves it. He is a rock and no bullet can penetrate him. I dont remember him making any mistakes in defense and with him around, i feel so safe that im in a safe box.
