This season, RoM have joined up with the Metro’s Fantasy Football league.
League Name: Republik of Mancunia
League Pin: 4356
If we can get 100 people to join up, the winner of our league will win £100, so spread the word.
We will also be competing with other blogs and there will be an overall prize for the top manager.

Man Utd News 24/7

Ohhhhh nice one!
It will take me a while to put my team together – Rome wasn’t built in a day. Of course, I’ll wait until all the summer signings have been made too. I wonder how many will have Sneijder in their teams.
As usual, no dippers in my team – that’s a rule right there.
What is the league number?
Making a team now
I’m guessing picking the United team will be a little out of our price range???
Please can someone link a quality tutorial or expert guide on how to play.
It may seem ridiculous, but I have never played Fantasy Football, Nintendo. Play Station, or the oft referenced manager game most on RoM seem to play.
Thanks!
What is the league number? I cannot search for Republik of Mancunia in private league!
PIN is 4356.
Prefer the ‘official’ PL one myself. Sky is okay but not as detailed and fun.
Sorry, I can’t bring myself to cheer on other teams players, unless they’re playing a rival of ours. FF is a distraction from United and therefore unwelcome.
Scott, you still gonna run the RoM leage on fantasy.premierleague.com?
FF eh? Always knew this place had the biggest tits.
Arf arf! Don’t worry, City will always be the biggest cocks.
@ smartalex
Quick Tutorial:
1) Buy Vidic
2) Buy De Gea
3) Float b/n owning Rooney/The Berb/Chicha based on form, fitness, projected starts etc
4) Stay as far away as possible from BinDipping or SnoodWearing Defenders
5) Own Van Persie for the 4 weeks he actually plays
That’s about it mate. The whole key is to find and ride trends/bargains early. Try and stack your team with fk and pen takers and of course, guys who’re their respective teams’ first name on the starting XI.
Don’t be shocked if you find yourself watching Stoke vs Bolton in early November screaming at an offside call that you’d otherwise not give a bugger about.
Fifthcolumnblue – there are limits on this league, pity your fucking owners don’t view the Premier League in the same way, the cunts.
37M from Corintians for Tevez? 150M renaming for Wastelands 400M over 4 years?!
Who is printing the money. Fair play MY SWEET ARSE!
All the papers are now full of it.
Wenger “FINANCIAL DOPING” in the Telegraph! Sh*tty are an embarrassment.
Is there a Brazilian fantasy league? I fancy having Tevez in my team again this year, get a bit of the spirit of 2008 going, when he helped us win the Champions League & Premier League Double.
I’m one player short on my team, but I’ve already maxed-out on players from United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs. Can anyone tell me which of these City strikers is the best value for money: Dzeko, Adebayor, Bellamy, Jo, Balotelli, Santa Cruz, Weiss or Caicedo? Cheers!
JOINED
My team is called : TheRedDevilsMinions
im not a fantasy football guy,im more for rediction games but maybe i’ll consider
Bit of a piss take there inn’it Fred?
“City Strikers” and “Value for Money” in the same sentence? Bit of an oxymoron there no? The answer is “I” none of the above.

Fuck off you bitter little cunt. You are a real source of amusement as usual. Fucking corrupt shithouse club. The fucking sheiks will be putting up that money for Tevez to keep you in the FFP. Corinthians my fucking arse. It will all unravel and you will be in the shite.
FletchTHEman – Spot on fella.

so gill in milan is confirmed.
make or break now.
bring the new wes in
@ Fred – I’m afraid Burt met with a rather unfortunate end. *Someone* ran him over with a combine harvester and buried his still-breathing but badly mangled carcass beneath the new Evergreen Forest motorway bypass.
This had tragic consequences for his friends Ralph and Melissa. Shocked at the sudden unexplained disappearance of his friend, Ralph descended into alcoholism and spousal abuse, pushing the unfortunate Melissa into a life of enforced prostitution in order to pay for his booze.
Three years later, Melissa finally snapped and bludgeoned Ralph over the head as he slept. She is currently serving 18 years in a female racoon prison with no possibility of parole.
On the plus side, Cyril Sneer is alive and well, and runs an exceptionally brilliant website at:

@ Female Raccon Prison?
You mean 18 years working a Scouse Watering Hole?

@ smartalex, just buy in form players within your budget and sell injured or perennially benched players
I’ll sacrafice my first pick just to make a point……..Paul Scholes

Bebe scored a goal for his new club in a friendly
http://www.redforcerising.net/2011/07/14/video-bebe-scores-on-his-debut-for-besiktas/
I still think he has some talent and has a knack of scoring goals.Don’t write him off so soon.
Thanks berbatunday!
magicinthe6 – are you saying that Paul will be missed from fantasy football?
Thanks Ash! Well done Bebe!
@ smartalex – You could also play the way I do. Pick players that you utterly dislike in the hope that any bad luck you may have will be somehow visited upon them. It worked wonders for me last season. I am single-handedly responsible for injuries to Lampard, John Terry and Stevie Me, as well as Drogba’s poor form.
Meanwhile, my refusal to play Berbatov (after picking him the two years previously) produced great results for United. I came 32nd in my league (out of about 65) but I’ll happily accept mid-table obscurity for my fantasy team in exchange for a league win for United.
If… and i mean If… we sign Sneijderman on top of Young, Da Gay and Jones… this would be quite an awesome summer of transfers… esp as they done rather quickkly…. ~On top of that we’ve got the 1st friendly tonight… which im staying up to watch… got food and beers in… fuck work tomorrow… MUFC always comes first!
Getting a semi just thinking about it!
Go on Gill earn your money!
Ash – wow, Bebe’s goal was pretty nice! Well done, big man.
Not only seeing these promising quality players come in…. we also have the prospects of last season newbies getting even better… Hernandez and Smalling in particular… the return of Welbeck Kiko and Cleverly…. exciting times… and they take the pain away slightly of seeing Scholesy, GNev, VDS reitring, Oshakey and Wes leaving and Hargo never coming back… sad times but also exciting that we have already identified and brought in some talent!
Im excited… can you tell…
Smart Alex-
I’m saying i’d take him over anyone anytime…
if at least Symbolically
I’ve got Sneijder fever! Cedars, where art thou?
So Sneijderman’s definitely on his way then? Phew…the ink’s just drying on my new Tat
Bad news, while Gill’s messing about with Sneijder, we’ve missed out on Konchesky. He’s gone to Leicester City.
@ididnotzeeit… not making that mistake again…. as soon as he’s wearing that shirt im off to get Ozil turned into Sneijder….
Linvoy, this is the most amazing summer transfer spree in United’s history, even better than 2007.
So Gill is at Milan to shop for some new Armani suits? Nice to know.
Cyril Sneer, I intend to have good luck, so I will choose players that deserve to be lucky.
You carry on your way, between us and United it will work out great!
magicinthe6, Paul Scholes truly is a legend! Incredible footballer!
I hope i’m wrong and will admit it 3 or 4 weeks into the season if I am, but i don’t think sneijder is what we need….he certainly can’t hurt….but not exactly what we need
@ Linvoy
Yeah, me too, figured it was time to get Ronaldinho’s ugly buck toothed mug off my back
Linvoy, we’re all excited!!
Costas – No mate, he’s in Milan.
magicinthe6, I refer you to the recent comments of United coach Rene Meulensteen:
“The new Paul Scholes doesn’t exist, just as a new Roy Keane has never emerged, but Sneijder would fit perfectly here,” Meulensteen told Dutch magazine Voetbal International. “I cannot actually think of a more ideal player for our team.
“I say this not because he’s a Dutchman. I’ve worked here for a while, I know the team inside out and I know he would be a great signing.
“He seems a perfect complement to the likes of [Javier] Hernandez, [Wayne] Rooney, Park [Ji-sung], [Ashley] Young, [Antonio] Valencia, Nani and [Ryan] Giggs.
“And, of course, Wesley has the necessary experience in top-level football. I don’t know what his future is at Inter, whether he may leave or whether he’s affordable. But, purely based on football skills, I say get Sneijder.”
Case closed.
Also, note that Rene didn’t mention Berbatov in that list!
@Fred…. it is… and that was hard to top!! I remember it clearly as i had gone home for weekend and was going nuts over Nani and Anderson signings… add in the other 2 and that was it… was estatic.
I’ve harped on to everyone about Sneijder for last 4/5 seasons. Hope it comes true as he is a firm favourite of mine.
Im not one of those who is obessed with new signings as i love squad as is it right now and the prospect of the youngens coming through… but taking into account the fanatastic players and experience we have lost in one go this season… Sneidjerman would just be the cream on top of the cherry on top of the icing on the cake… and would send out a very positive message to the rest of the premiership… that Utd mean business.
Last season SAF worked wonders getting 110% out of the squad he had. New players over achieved and went beyond expectations… Smalling and Little Pea in particular were just amazing in first season! I can only hope Young & (fingers crossed) Sneijder will come straight in to do a job. Young players can learn from them too! Looking at what Jones did at Blackburn is really encouraging. If you think he comes with a better pedigree than Smalling… so my expectations are high from him,. Da Gay i haven’t seen much in all honesty so can’t comment but he looks the part.
Exciting times….
Long way to go in transfer market and be interesting to see what the Top 4 clubs do but for once i feel relatively optimisitic we can seriously battle on all 4 fronts. We never get credit we deserve… we battle on every front to the bitter end… and we win despite all the travelling / games / strain on squad / injuries / anti Utd from FA etc / all teams aspire to beat us and give 110%…. never enough credit. No whinging from Utd fans or club though.. its whats expected! I love this club!
Get Sneijder
Starring Sir Alex Ferguson, Rene Meulensteen and`David Gill.
Coming to a Theatre nearby!
Wow, fantastic write-up and tribute to THE GREATEST football manager of all time right here:

Speaking of ugly mugs…The USWNT progresses to the world cup final.
Thank Christ they don’t rock beach volleyball kits!
Sir Matt placed 11th in their list.
Well Nike’s website says Sneijder Is a Manchester United player!! Well Nike’s website says Sneijder Is a Manchester United player!!
ididnotzeeit – I’ve watched a couple of games – very entertaining! I like Hope Solo.
Fred
First of all, he IS a dutchman, and if you think that doesn’t matter in these dealings your ignorant. These coaches are not stupid, they are in a business where forming relationships with players is often more important than forming relationships with your club (Ronaldo essentially made Queiroz a God to MU’s front office).
Secondly,
“He seems a perfect complement to the likes of [Javier] Hernandez, [Wayne] Rooney, Park [Ji-sung], [Ashley] Young, [Antonio] Valencia, Nani and [Ryan] Giggs.”
No Sh*t you don’t say? He just named half the team so i hope he would “fit in.” And for gods sake I could fit in with players like that. But if we want someone to fit in then why has everyone on this board been dying for a playmaker midfielder and not someone to “fit in”.
Thirdly, i really don’t agree with his assement of his accomplishments at inter. Its essentially a two/three team leaque down there. Its not a physical league (yes they do kick each other in the shins once in a while or do that weird slapping at the face thing when they argue). And as a midfielder at inter you have an incredible defense and goalie and have had either ibrahimovich or eto to stretch out the field…so i hope he was creative there.
He’s a good player, not the best midfielder, probably barely top ten. If we get him great, I hope he does well and i’ll support him…for me the value’s not there for what we NEED
And please….don’t copy and paste a quote as an argument
@Fred, Thanks for the link mate. Amazing write-up.
BTW, if any of you are on twitter, you should follow Annie Eaves. She’s having a blast with the Gill in Milan story right now and her tweets are providing me with all kinds of laughs. They usually are very funny but today she seems to be on a roll.
Who the fuck are you talking to you little cunt? Get fucked, you know-nothing prick. While me, Rene, Sir Alex and everyone else are enjoying Wesley Sneijder illuminating Old Trafford for the next five years, you can sit with a fucking pout on, whinging about how he’s not the player for us. Stupid little prick.
Fair play to you Fred. Suffice it to say I’d “hope” she’d be “solo” in garbbing out in a beach volleyball kit.
Their LB looks like Ellen!
SAF “I was going to bring Pogba on tour with us but we would have too many players.”
Interesting quote if it’s genuine.
Nike seems to have jumped the gun; google “Nike Football Wesley Sneijder” and see for yourself on the second hit.
(source: http://redflagflyinghigh.com/2011/07/blogs/has-nike-revealed-that-wesley-sneijder-is-a-manchester-united-player)
magicinthe6 knows more than Rene FFS
I see this has already been mentioned, but look at the Sneijder section of the Nike official website. It’s a huge picture of Rooney, in the away kit from two years ago and there’s quotes, in dutch I presume, that would seem to translate to the aquisition of Sneijder to United.
It’s al quite bizarre.
Go on Freddy lad!!!!!
@Magresda, God, you guys are killing me.
I am already almost at the stage of premature ejaculation at the knowledge that Manchester United start playing football tomorrow (my time that is) and that I am going to watching The Deathly Hallows Part 2 tomorrow also. I can barely suppress my climax.
And then you guys go on posting links like that, what the hell is wrong with you people?
How many more sheets of Kleenex do you want me to waste?
Hope i’m wrong truly do….
p.s. FRED its a blog take it easy bud
You take it easy. The tone of your reply to me was completely disrespectful.
Fred says:

You had a problem with my tone?
Yeah, that’s why I reacted that way. Anyway, it’s over now. No hard feelings.
magicinthe6 lol
cool
well having said all that lol……any chance if its a done deal that he’ll get on the field for the MLS all star game in two weeks?????
Big chance I’d say.
got tickets for it……say what you will about MLS for 300 dollars (~470 pounds) you can get season tickets, sit 10 rows from Henry and Marquez and whoever, you can drink in the stadium (theres a beergarden outside/during the game). Couldn’t resist
Well I hope you enjoy the game, and maybe you’ll start to see what Rene sees in Big Wes!
It’s defo on…Just picked up a Pizza in Stretford and it had Sneijder’s face depicted in cheese, tomato and basil. Really hungry so you’ll have to take my word for it.
Xol
post of the day
Fucking blog is mad!
^^
God, I love the silly season precisely for that reason.
@magicinthe6
Got tickets for the All-star game as well…
Im going to be sitting in the away section.
Whats the league number people. I know the name of the league and the pin but whats the league number so i can search and join
Back on-topic, I’ve always wanted to do Fantasy Football and Cricket for that matter. But I find that I just don’t have the time to do it in a full-fledged manner. I’ve tried it once or twice but I ended up performing so badly that I lost all interest in them. Especially true when I see people following everything and seeing key performers and knowing how the entire system works. I don’t think I will ever do it again to be honest.
This thing lost credibility when it posted that Malouda and Downing had better seasons than Nani! :S
Number 100.
Bring on that £100.
Who are those players on the front page standing behind Wayne Rooneh?
They wont allow me to join the league without depositing cash.
The players are Arteta, Toure, Torres, Suarez, Van Der Vaart, Zamora and Van Persie – or were you being cheeky?
In case you’re interested, I plumped for Balotelli as striker. I know he’ll bag more than the 6 goals he managed last season.
Fitting the Italian wunderkind into my team meant that I had to cut costs elsewhere though, so I’ve taken Evra out of my team. Can anyone tell me which City left-back is the best? It’s too close to call between Zabaleta, Kolarov, Clichy, Bridge, Boateng, Savic and Cunningham. Thanks in advance.
i have joined as Manchester Devils..i have nani, vidic and rooney in my team..
