RoM Is A Different League

The Republik of Mancunia has been named the best Manchester United blog by A Different League.

First place goes to the site that many saw as the frontrunner, and for good reason. With 9/10 points average the winner of the Best Man Utd blogs 2010 is The Republik of Mancunia. Articles here are thought-provoking and well written, but also meticulously researched by Scott the Red. Additionally there is a large community of United fans, resulting in debate both in the comments sections, but also in a buzzing forum. Well done to The Republik of Mancunia.

Check out the other United blogs in the top ten and cheers for your continued support.

Well done and all the posters. Even on a weekend like this where there have been plenty of arguments it just shows the passion of the fans that post. To get nearly 700 comments on a thread is fantastic. Growing all the time I just wish some of the old regulars would pop back like Failsworth, Jake, Suhayl, North Stand etc.

  11. North Stand,Tier 3,Back Row says:

    Cheers King Eric!!!
I do still read this site everyday, just dont have as much time to get caught up in the everyday conversations as much as I used to. I owe ya one now though, so you get a free pass off me – you can write complete bollocks in your next post, and I’ll still have to back you up to the hilt. You only get one mind…

  12. ilovemanunited says:

    Well done Scott,
same with lad mancy_yangki, this is the only one united blog that i see at everyday

  13. ilovemanunited says:

And also I always waiting the newest article from this blog and seeing the comment especially from AIGis the God, GHHT, Costas, Wayne Rooney is the King. Tome those people are always make me smile :)

  14. Giles Oakley says:

Congrats Scott, that’s brilliant, and well deserved. It’s a great site, totally addictive, and I love some of the characters who pop up everyday. I’d sound a bit too much like Billy No-Mates if I said I think of people here as real friends, but I do. That’s because we’re ALL United!,

  15. Sanj says:

    Well done, Scott. Congrats.

  16. Sanj says:

    @Giles Oakley

I was saying something along the same lines to a mate of mine yesterday. Funny how I will probably never meet GHTT, King Eric, Costas, AIG, Drew Vader, willierednut, etc. and that we most likely live halfway across the world from each other… but I still consider them friends. Just one more reason why United is the best and biggest club in the world.

  17. Muggaz says:

Well done Scott, an accolade that is seriously deserved. Thanks for taking the time to create a site where us United fans can discuss our shared passion. I also find the sense of perspective given by fans who have been with United since the dark ages of 2nd Division and al new fans in Mumbai is fantastic, and if it weren’t for you, such a forum wouldn’t exist.

    Many thanks.

  18. willierednut says:

    @Sanj

Stop it mate, you’re making me blush lol.

  19. TheBusbyWay says:

Congratulations from us at The Busby Way, enjoy the site very much.
Hopefully next year we too will make the list!

  20. Sanj says:

    @willierednut
HAHA… not a problem for me, mate… tough to make a brown-skinned man blush.

  21. marsy the red says:

may not comment as much but i look at this site everyday

  22. edwin says:

    Well Done Scott Mate!

  23. sinred says:

Well done. Scott’s articles are always well researched. It is hard to pick a hole in his logic. Many Liverpool and City supporters have tried their luck against him.

  24. rohitvarkey says:

congrats scott! and i agree wit all the other tat dis is the only united blog i vist everyday(almost every hour) adn i luv the comments 2!!

  28. jellybean says:

brilliant scott! truly well deserved. love this blog- the articles are funny, informative and very red-tinted (how i like it :P ). all the posters are brilliant, i don’t know how many comments i read by everyone that have me in stitches, but cause of the time i’m always late to join the conversations :( all my friends usually come to my house and use my laptop (cause my internet is pretty good compared to everyone’s) and make fun of me for always being on the blog. but i have no qualms about being an ROM addict! sigh…as if i needed another reason to love Utd.

  29. football24genius says:

Congratulations Scott, and the regulars that make this site awesome :)

  30. Costas says:

Thanks GHTT and everyone for the kind words. The feeling is mutual.

  31. jellybean says:

it’s amazing how many of us there are that think about utd all day long :S i don’t think any other club could boast such dedicated/obsessed fans lol!

  32. Rollins says:

Congrats scott! You’re doing an excellent job, i hope you never ease up.
I dont post as much as i should due to the nature of my job (i’m a mechanical engineer & i’m always covered in grease, and when i get home i’m either too weak or i’m occupied with the missus).
I think you owe a lot to regular posters like costas, king eric, rooney the new king, redscot, willierednut, ghht, aig, etc. Because, these guys keep the blog alive even when you’ve not posted new topics. Keep up the good work guys.

  33. jellybean says:

sorry for multiple posts but had to say-

GHTT- i actually discovered ROM through one of emily’s videos, it was one of the earlier ones i think and i thought she was adorable and watched the video over and over. i found some posters there from ROM, and that’s how i ended up here! when/if i ever make it to ireland (which i’ve always wanted to) i’m DEFINITELY buying you a pint.

  34. Unitedordeath says:

Congrats, Scott. Keep up the great work.

  35. giggs11gerrard0 says:

Congrats a great read and great debate between posters!

  36. willierednut says:

Ghtt and Rollins, cheers lads. I see Durham’s on his soap box saying Vidic should be banned, funny that he defended the thug the other week tosser.

  37. Darknight says:

Congrats scott. Another well deserved award.. :)

  38. Sanj says:

    @willierednut

What do they expect? Is a CB not supposed to use his arms for leverage when they jump? Vidic had his eyes GLUED to the ball. Elmander had no chance regardless of the elbow. Also, I seem to recall Knight absolutely clobbering Berba in the head, too… where is the outrage about that challenge?

  39. bchilds says:

Well done Scott, as you know we all feel it’s thoroughly deserved

  40. SENI says:

Hats off scott. this is the place to be @

  41. brett1985 says:

It is nice that there is not many fans from other clubs who use the blog despite its accessibility. So it works well.

  42. King Eric says:

Northstand – He heh. I call your name and you appear as if by magic!!

Good to hear from you pal, hope you are well.

Its odd actually as whenever threads like this appear I see names that I have never seen before. It just shows you that although certain people do not post they are still reading it!

  43. King Eric says:

Sanj and Giles – Yeah I know exactly what you both mean lads. Sounds soppy as fuck but it is like a community.

Ain’t seen Stephen on here for a while.

  44. King Eric says:

Yeah agree with gotta hate that Sanj is well under rated. Knows his stuff. rtnk always makes me laugh with his little sayings like “fool me once shame on you………….” then there is the pessimists like aig and Costas the stat man. gotta hate with top posts, willirednut whose posts are always short but to the point, young boogeyman, doghouse, mg, mic, rcwis, goatinaunitedshirt, Fred .

Really really sorry if I missed anyone but there are that many people and my memory is shit. What I am trying to say is that everyone has a part to play on here and has there own little character.

    God I sound gay.

  45. King Eric says:

    Notorious
    giggs11gerrard0
    denton davey
    Giles

    The list goes on

  46. King Eric says:

    Cheers Rollins

  47. Ulster Red says:

well done scott on another deserved award!!

  48. willierednut says:

I have been reading ROM since 2008, but never had the guts to post anything until last year.

  49. rooney the new king says:

King Eric – so that prat on talkshit said that abou vidic, oh yes so his cock sucking stevie me said the ref and FA was right not to ban gerrard hey but gerrard who intentially elbowed a player should get away with scott free. and stan collymore said if lampard and etc were on their game in their right positions they would have had this title rapped up, yea like if VDS ferdinand vidic brown evans were fit they would have won the league by now. Oh yes we have lost 2 forwards in the process so suck on that media and retarded pundits

  50. lawman10 says:

great site, great comments……………………………………………did anybody hear that ginger twat on talkshite?
he was saying that vidic should be charged by FA!!!!! his point as to why vidic should charged well?
because he knew what he was doing with his elbow,
as he always goes out of his way some time in every game to smack someone?
and to make matters worst he said when gerrard( cunt ) hit that fulham player the other week on the back the neck with a forearm smash that ginger twat said gerrard was running and could not help it!!!!
you could not make it up.
I am going to crash my car at this rate,

  51. Scholesy says:

    Fully deserved.

  52. DebRed says:

Congrats Scott…For a lot of us who stay in a different hemisphere this blog is absolutely God send…
I hope you keep getting more awards, and new members on your blog.
    Cheers.

  53. rooney the new king says:

I will give you a stat stan
VDS has started 15 premier league games from 32
ferdinand has started 9 pemier league games from 32
vidic has started 17 premier league game from 32
brown has appeared in 18 premier league games from 32
johny evans has appeeared 14 games from 32

so really VDS ferdinand vidic have all started under 10 games together in 1 team in the premiersip

  54. RED SAM says:

What about our friends at spirit of shankly ? :)

  55. RED SAM says:

Where else will you find a kenyan exchanging ideas with an indian, greek, usa,uk ?

  56. willierednut says:

    @RTNK

Durham didn’t even think Gerrrard’s forearm smash on Brown was that bad, fair play to Ray Parlour who didn’t think it was a foul by Vidic.

  57. rooney the new king says:

    chelseas defenders
cech has started 26 premier league games from 32
terry has started 28 premier league games from 32
carvalho has started 22 premier league games from 32
alex I am not sure how many how many he has started
cole has started 24 games from 32

  58. rooney the new king says:

willierednut – because durham is busy doing the lovefest with gerrard he is pethetic what about nani being elbowed by the bolton player it was identical did he say that about maloudo

  59. King Eric says:

RTNK – Yeah I heard Collymore say that. If Fat Frank had played in his “proper” position the league would be sewn up. I thought exactly the same as you. If we hadn’t had to play Carrick and Fletch at centre half and had such silly injuries at the back United would have been Champions back in Feb. They are clinging onto every last drop that United won’t win it but deep down they know we will. The bookies are rarely wrong.

  60. King Eric says:

lawman10 – Yes I certainly did hear that cunt Durham. He does it to get traffic but it still fucks me off mate. I have mentioned this on the last topic.

  61. MUFCUM1 says:

    Congrats Scott!

  62. rooney the new king says:

King Eric – he is talking complete BS, yes like ronaldo and tevez gone united had to find a new identity a new look a formation that suits them, uniteds best defence have played together the holy trinity of VDS ferdinand vidic no more than 10 games. cech terry and carvalho have played double that rate, you add valencia in his first sead had to fill on the right quickly we add nani who did not pick up their form until jan 2010. berbatov and owen have had indifferent forms, say if VDS ferdinand vidic the form of valenncia nani anderrbatov we are seeing now picked up right at the start of the season where would we be now, these problems are the only reason why chelsea and arsenal have in a chance of the title. Yes remember he said non of our midfield would get into the chelsea team

  63. rooney the new king says:

Oh I forgot to add remember collymore the game at stamford bridge match, chelsea were lucky has hell they beat united when terry brought down valencia and the free kick which lead to the goal which was never a goal and drogba during the ffree kick which lead to the goal he fouled evans.

the top 2 should look like this
    man utd 75 pts
    chelsea 68 pts

  64. rooney the new king says:

that terrible awful drunken decisions by the officals have kept chelsea in the title race, because we should and would have beaten chelsea if the decisons went our way now we deserve the luck of the officals

  65. King Eric says:

My goodness! Don’t Citeh play great open fast attacking football? Fucking jokers. Choking big time. They are awful. Crowd getting on their back. Best club in Manchester? Get fucked. Not in the same league as United. Tevez and all the other greedy whores look bored of the place. No team ethic or fuck all.

  66. Gandalf says:

I say very well deserved Scott. This blog is indeed a great place for United fans.

Well done to all the regulars who contribute so much.

  67. rooney the new king says:

King Eric – well I am a big obama fan but what do shitty and obama have in commen they both want change and we all know which party will get change.

the BBC have been looking pretty stupid after the way they talked about united when they faced each other at the wasteleands, hey I have been an idiot by doubting united and I am eating swee sweet humble pie I never thought they would get this level that maybe we will do something great

  68. aig alex is god says:

Why are we saying Vidic and rio have missed so many games and hence we arent home and dry with the title by now?. injuries are a part and parcel of the game. maybe next season chelsea will have such bad injury problems. We cant make that as an excuse. Arsenal have bad injury problems every year if we look at it that way.

With the decisions that have gone against us i agree. it has cost us atleast 4 points. We have got a few lucky ones but the number that have gone against us is far greater. Lets hope things even themselves out next weekend with regards to what happened at the bridge

  69. King Eric says:

rtnk – I know mate. They were proper rubbing it in the night Tevez scored at wastelands. They can’t live with us. I have said for some time I really have a good feeling about the remainder of the season. Playing really good football but also bloody hard to beat now we have a regular back 5. All of the lads are driven to do well. I remember Fletch saying pre season that he “would drag United to the Champions League Final again”.

  70. lawman10 says:

    one more note on talkshite.
just before xmas chelski played wolves at home and beat them 4-0
that prick collymore came out with this comment…………………………………..chelski are pound for pound the best premier side, and could not see anyone in there class! the title is going to the bridge.
    what a wanker.

  71. King Eric says:

How many other teams have had to play with their central defensive duo in the back 4 pal? And sold the worlds best player?

  72. bchilds says:

Lol, Citeh booed off the pitch at Wastelands

  73. rooney the new king says:

aig – I brought this up because that retarded fish frog on talkshit said if lampard was in his proper position they would be well ahead of united, add the fact chelsea needed 3 bad decisions when they faced united at stamford bridge to win the game, add the fact united have lost VDS neville ferdinand vidic evans rafeal fabio brown to injury, I have owned collymore and if I had twitter which I dont and cnt be assed with it I would take him to school on why his views on chelsea and the title raacc ehold no ground.

  74. King Eric says:

ha ha ha ha . Belter of a line by the commentator on ESPN. As the bitters trudged off at half time he said “to quote the 400 travelling fans – CHAMPIONS LEAGUE, YOU’RE HAVING A LAUGH”. Fucking priceless.

  75. Fred says:

City are shit – and that’s a fact!

Can’t believe some of you are shitting it about us having to play these clowns in the run-in. We’ll beat them with fucking ease – and you can print that.

    Piece of piss. :-D

  76. aig alex is god says:

No one but that was only the fulham game. which other league game have we had to play fletch and carrick at the back?. The injuries have largely been due to the woeful misjudgements of our medical team. Lets not forget that.

  77. bchilds says:

    @King Eric

Yea was funny wasn’t it, I’m usually a fan of Jon Champion.

  78. King Eric says:

aig – Meant to add. The reason we are saying this is because that horrible bird beating dogging dipper Fat Stan said tonight if Ancelotti had played Fat Frank in his proper position the league would be sewn up long ago. Now to me mate the fact of not having a fit back 5 and having to play Fletch and Carrick as centre halfs would compound on a season a hell of a lot more than Fat fucking Frank sitting “too deep”.

  79. Giles Oakley says:

I loved your descriptions of the Usual Suspects, ghtt, and thanks for the nice comments, also King Eric. It always makes me smile to see the name Sanj here (always good comments, by the way) because one of the people I play football with , or did until about a year ago (health) has the same name. He’s also Indian, has a beautiful Iranian wife, and we get on really well, apart from him being a dirty bastard on the pitch, and worse, he’s bloody dipper!

Football should bring people together, and it’s brilliant as Red Sam says that here on RoM we have people from Asia, Africa, the Balkans, N. America, Australia etc etc, all talking the same language. It’s kind of sweet to discover that it takes some people a little while before they dare post a comment, and then they become a real regular and everyone reads them avidly.

Apart from different nationalities there are also different age groups, which I also like. It was great the other day to find someone currently at the school I went to 50 years ago!

I often wonder what people look like and , if they don’t give clues, where they come from and how old they are. I love some of the names. My favourite ‘nom de post’ is definitely Jellybean. Always good to hear from you, so shove your pals off the old laptop and let’s hear more from you.

  80. wayne says:

its the only blog i joined and leave comments on you deserve all the accolades that come your way scott

  81. rooney the new king says:

King Eric – I am a little confident but chelseas purple patch has got me a little weary and bayern are gonna be tougher than milan. I say come back in a weeks time after 3 pm this saterday if we have had the best week since the week we cleaned house in europe and the premiership in our double winning season 2 years ago. what I want is a score draw with munich and united beat chelsea thats what I want

  82. willierednut says:

I think it’s safe to say Bellamy will be coming on.

  83. aig alex is god says:

    @rtnk

i stand by what i say. injuries are no excuse. it is a part and parcel of the game.

With regards to the decisions i agree a lot of them went against us at the bridge and i hope justice will be done this weekend.

Lampard has been fit all season so where he plays is up to the manager and not these half witted clowns who are paid to talk shite. its easy to sit there and talk shite but as a manager its difficult . Just ignore these fools and what they talk. They wont change until may.

  84. King Eric says:

bchilds – hilarious mate. I don’t mind Champion.

Fred – I know mate exactly. Thing is form will go out the window but our worst form is better than their top form. We should hammer the fuckers. I do like the way you have been saying pre- Wolves game it is “a piece of piss”. I have to say even I am not THAT confident but I am inclined to agree. Have said similar in that I do believe this present United team will win all their remaining games. Not arrogant -just better.

  85. rooney the new king says:

but the chelsea game is far bigger than tommorow its the biggest game we have had this season and saterday could really see has go from quiet confident to expecting to retain the league

  86. aig alex is god says:

    @King Eric

Both you and i know by now how much these so called ‘Pundits’ know so i just ignore it. Its a serious waste of time. listen to what they say in May and how they change statements so fast.

Now that we are in a good position i am sure some of them must already have said they tipped United for the title when actually they must have fancied Chelsea at the start of the season.

  87. Fred says:

“I often wonder what people look like”

I’m told I look like a cross between Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp – but better looking. MOTWYW.

  88. King Eric says:

Of course they are an excuse mate when you have 8 or 9 or even 10 I think at one point of JUST defenders out. The odd one or two here and there fair enough, not an excuse but we were absolutely decimated for a period of about 4 weeks. The WHOLE team suffered because of this. Not to mention Bumbling Ben’s (credit to someone else but love that name) wretched form. You can say with Edwin we wouldn’t have conceded that Jones goal or even Bent’s. That would certainly be 2 points. Anyway like you elude to that is by the by and it is what we do NOW with a fit squad for the run in.

  89. redscot says:

Well done Scot Its the best blog. Our beloved moderator.
I for one thoroughly enjoy reading your pages links etc etc.And the Lads hiarious comments and knowledge.
I am relatively new to this Blog and hence dont have any friends lol But from what I have read on the previous comments, am trying to work out how if I could get a bundle deal on few hundred condoms.Pmsl
    Joking bye the .

  90. King Eric says:

aig – Spot on fella. Shearer said EXACTLY that the other night. “Well I tipped United at the start of the season and I am sticking with them”. Bollocks you toerag you said fucking Chelsea!

  91. King Eric says:

Giles – Yeah I know just what you mean about wondering what people look like. I have actually got a picture in my head for each character on here. Probably look nowt like what I imagine.

  92. SENI says:

just saw Fergie on skysports, he right its gonna be an exciting week. Bayern tomorrow, chelSHIT on Saturday and the home leg of European tie. I’m licking my lips, i hope rooney brings the goods to the table, i’m chuffed we’ve gone good without him last weekend but he’s come good for us this season and i want to see more him and the rest, fletch is getting harder and defenders back. This run in could bring out the best of us this season, can’t wait

  93. aig alex is god says:

    @King Eric

exactly what i meant. they change their statements very fast.

As for injuries the fact that Vida and VDS were fit for nearly the whole of last season and have had great finess levels. Same with rio until his back injury last season which has been recurring.Players will get injured at some stage especially when they play nearly 60 games a season as in our case. The unfortunate part was all of them had to get injured at the same time and our medical teams performance didnt help matters.

  94. King Eric says:

redscot – Some of your posts are as funny as fuck. Keep it up.

God you can feel the love tonight.

  95. willierednut says:

Just seen a banner at wastelands, and on the 6th day God created City.

  96. King Eric says:

willierednut – Oh they crack me up. comedy is the name of their game.

  97. Costas says:

And on the 7th day he realised the error of his ways and he created the improved model: Man United. :D

  98. Ulster Red says:

    yes costas..yes!

  99. willierednut says:

    @Costas

    lol.

  100. redscot says:

@ king Eric. thanks mate, I like to have fun and blog.I always type with a smile on my face. And never see the dark side. Not as knowledgeable as most, but like to learn.I do enjoy all the reads and respect everyone’s point of view.
Yes I can feel the love, its like a huge I darent say Gang bang. But it is a Gang of fucking funny/inteligent lads.
Who love one thing United.Cheers mate
Caldwell you scottish twat at it again.Christ thats his 5 th fuck up this season.

  101. King Eric says:

Stuart Attwell should not be reffing Premier league games. He is a joke. NEVER a red card. Horrible cunt’s. Just shows you what they are like on talkshite. ESPN said NOT a red, Five live NOT a red but talksport said it was the right decision and was definately a red as reckless.

  102. willierednut says:

the 10 men of Wigan near scored twice. That sending off was a joke.

  103. aig alex is god says:

You guys watching the shitty match. Admire your tolerance that you can watch someone playing as shit as that for nearly an hour. I switched it off after 30 mins.

  104. redscot says:

@ willie Caldwell brings it upon himself he is just a Caber tosser, Very akward in the tackle left the Ref with no choice,

  105. AlphaRS says:

I actually want Shitty to win so the Rat Munchers finish in 6th place. Close call I know!
Don’t think that was a red card though either. Teez made the most of that.

  106. Drew Vader says:

I like a number of the Wigan players. They have some quality in their squad which makes me wonder why the hell are they near the bottom??

  107. AlphaRS says:

I actually want Shitty to win so the Rat Munchers finish in 6th place. Close call I know!
Don’t think that was a red card though either. Tevez made the most of that.

  108. redyank@work says:

cheers scott. a cup of coffee and ROM is how i start my morning at work.

  109. Fred says:

    SENI says: “chelSHIT on Saturday”

No need for that, mate. They’re a great club with a glorious history.

  110. Drew Vader says:

And what the hell is Mancini thinking playing that dirty cheating twat Viera?? Surely they have youth team prospects who would be better than him at this point… Not that I’m complaining, just curious as to how a seemingly intelligent coach could insist on playing him.

  111. Fred says:

“I like a number of the Wigan players. They have some quality in their squad which makes me wonder why the hell are they near the bottom?”

Cos they’ve got no fucking bollocks. :-D

  112. willierednut says:

    Wigan keeper is shocking.

  113. jellybean says:

haha everytime i refresh the page, there’s a whole bunch of new comments. really enjoying the love here :D
@ giles – thanks a lot for what you said! coming from an old united fan as yourself (as in you’ve been a fan for decades!) that’s a huge compliment, esp considering a lot of asians as myself are considered “glory hunters”. hope your health is alright, read some while ago that you were unwell (wasn’t posting then).
oh redscot- your posts always crack me up, esp because you’ve said you smoke and i’m usually high when i read your posts as well :) hehe just smoked a j right now :P
had a dream last night that anyone wearing green and gold will automatically be ejected from old trafford, and hardly any people were allowed into OT for the 2nd leg of the bayern game, which i was watching on tv (in my dream). the players came out and there was just a handful of people watching, clearly those who don’t make any noise. i remember the team tried to be all brave and go for it, but you could see the worry in their faces….i don’t remember much of the dream, but i think i remembering rooney scoring and fergie being furious about the supporters not being allowed in….it was awful! i really hope it never comes to that…

am not watching the city game since i should actually be sleeping right now as i have an exam tomorrow, but am following the gamecast….fuckin shitty team, playing against 10 men and still 0-0. go on then wigan! if they can beat the chavs and the dippers, they can certainly beat city!

  114. redscot says:

As that cunt on Espn said, a gift goal and scarface does it again. TWAT. but lets not big him up he is history. And glad too see the back of him.Jaysus now they start singing says it all been like a morgue up till now.
Anyways you wont make 4th…… trust that, As costas said regards puddle enjoy the Europa.

  115. Drew Vader says:

Its so funny to hear their fans chanting “Fergie sign him up” Yeah, we’re over here crying about it. Top of the league and champs league quarter finals.

  116. Fred says:

Drew, it’s because Mankini has come from the Italian League, where that useless old Arsenal has-been is still considered a top player. :-D

  117. Ulster Red says:

    jellybean
did you have a smoke before you had that dream!!!!!!!

  118. willierednut says:

    Taxi for Viera.

  119. Fred says:

Drew, nail on the head regarding Cuntneck Tevez. Top post, fella.

  120. jellybean says:

that argentine cunt does it again. credit to him, but i really cannot fucking bear the thought of shitty playing in the champions league. as i said before, i seriously will cry if i see an “european night” at the wastelands.

  121. willierednut says:

I could eat a few jellybeans at the minute.

  122. Drew Vader says:

As to the Wigan players I think are good…. And I’m prepared to get slaughtered for these…

James McCarthy is a badass and I personally think he is better than Rodwell at this moment. Not talking about potential or anything, but just at this moment in time I would take McCarthy. He is a quality CM.

Hugo Rodallega is also a good player. He has some real pace and he works his ass off up front, as Vidic I think would attest as he gave him a torrid time last season (when Carrick got a late winner)

And I think Charles N’zogbia is also quality. He is a natural left footer and again, he always works his ass off for the team. I think he is a bit of a mental case and complains alot, but I would be happy to have him pushing for a LM spot.

  123. Costas says:

He scores against a team with 10 players. Fergie sign him up.

I actually have no beef with Tevez anymore, but they are a pathetic bunch aren’t they? Looks like we will have a say in who ends up 4th since we will play both sides who will go for it,

  124. Fred says:

Jellybean – spot on. Spurs better not fail us now. Come to think about it, if results go our way these next few weeks, we might be able to let Spurs beat us at Old Trafford to help keep the Bitters and Dippers out of the CL. Just a thought…

  125. willierednut says:

Fergie, Fergie string em up, Fergie string em up.

  126. jellybean says:

much as i want spurs to get the CL spot over the bitters and the dippers, it won’t happen. their fixtures are too hard, unless Pav comes up with some magic, i’m a bit pessimistic over their chances. but if it comes down to it, fuck i’ll take the dippers playing in the CL over SHITTY any fucking day!!!!!!

ulster red- was drinking with some friends actually, came home and passed out while reading ROM, lol.

what do you guys reckon the line up/formation is going to be tomorrow? reckon fergie will go with park in the middle again?

  127. SENI says:

    @Fred

No need for that, mate. They’re a great club with a glorious history.

You’re right where are my manners :-)

  128. redscot says:

@ Jellybean a joint before an exam, I never ever ever said I Smoked, now mate that would be a seriously bad thing to say on this Blog tonite. lmao
Dont you worry about the Glory hunters thing its all about you me and all of US. Sticking together.
Hope you might do some studying. mind not a great idea if yer spaced out!

  129. jellybean says:

tevez hattrick. brilliant. i guess now we might very well be seeing that god awful blue moon during champions league matches. on the bright side, the dippers HAVE to beat the rent boys to get 4th. a gerrard goal perhaps handing Utd number 19? he’ll be crying even more than he did after they got knocked out of the champions league! hahaha…

  130. bchilds says:

    @Fred

You’ve got to be kidding me haven’t you. I wouldn’t care if a United win against Spurs confirms the dippers participation in next season’s Champions League, United should go into every single game wanting to win. I’d be sickened if United went into any game not caring if they lose!

  131. Costas says:

Lets not forget one thing. That if City finish 4th, they will have a tough draw for their C.League qualifying match. Because theyir European record is crap. So they could face the 4th team from Spain. Or the third team from Italy.

  132. jellybean says:

@ redscot- hehe, studied a little when i disappeared for a while. tbh, would’ve studied longer, but all the conversations here were so interesting!

  133. SENI says:

    @jellybean
was just thinking the same, the magic key is cltr + r and more posts, fantastic. that must make two of us enjoying the j. munching on some roundtrees randoms and reading posts

  134. Edge says:

There was me thinking that our game with City would be our hardest game. Turns out I was wrong. We’ll destroy them.

  135. willierednut says:

I hope the dippers get 4th, there skint, where as City have the money to attract better players.

  136. jellybean says:

@bchilds- definitely with you on that one. Utd are above bottling it against certain teams knowing that it could adversely affect our opponents, unlike say Pool or Shitty. the team will do whatever it takes to win the league, and not give a flying rat’s ass whether shitty or pool or fucking leeds make it to the champions league or not!

  137. united.george says:

there is no way spurs will get the 4th spot. Arsenal at home, man utd away, chelsea at home and man city away? could come down to the man city game, while man city have easy away games other than the arsenal one and of course the game against us at home….liverpool’s only tough game is chelsea at home…

so it wil come down to man city losing a couple of games and liverpool winning all their remaining games for the pool to get 4th spot.

I have a feeling that city will get 4th spot…

  138. Fze123 says:

    Tevez is a cheating cunt.

Congrats Scott; this is truly a magnificent blog and I enjoy reading the regulars posts on a day to day basis. I first started coming when we lost in Rome – stumbled on this website to read Utd fans views on the final and to let out my own anger and sorrow.. From then on I became a ROM addict. Long may this blog’s popularity continue!

  139. Stretford Enders says:

    Well done.

Also, I sent in an email about link exchange. Is there any details as to if we will be accepted?

    Thanks

  140. King Eric says:

“i seriously will cry if i see an “european night” at the wastelands”.

ain’t ever gonna happen love. The dippers will get 4th as Spurs will drop points against us, Arsenal and maybe Chelsea in the same week. What price the scouser’s throwing the game against Chelsea if they are already guaranteed 4th or no chance of 4th?

  141. King Eric says:

jellybean – Good luck with your exam.

  142. King Eric says:

Drew – yeah mate got to say I have been impressed with McCarthy.

  143. Gandalf says:

Now watch siddy bitters getting giddy for the match against us… not for the faint hearted that one, I tell you.
    Can’t wait.

First things first – watch out bayern. Our boys are in form and playing well.

  144. Fze123 says:

I am more worried about Spurs than the bitters – they are playing utterly shite atm and we battered them a few times already this season. If they get 4th spot they will tarnish the prestige of the Champions League. And can you imagine how the City fans will react… They will get ahead of them selves even before the group stages draw and talk about how they’re going to get to the final.

  145. redscot says:

@ costas dont even consider it. If the money mad players who whore there talent for moolah, see they can still play in the CL They will attract those type of players. It will still be a malfunctioning outfit.
I recognise what you are saying mate regards the competion they will face. But Monsour will likely ditch Mancini. As as been displayed if they dont get 4th and all will disolve in a vacum of zilch.
Where is that lad Notorious and his betting stats.
Picture this Costas, now think about, Puddle dont make 4th lets fucking hope so, Shitty do. What will shitty do, I will bet my goldfishes life on it they will go for there Prized asset. The arabs mean buisness mate. For me personally I cant bare to see him at Wastelands.
Anyways I PUT my tent including my ruksack on Spuds getting 4 th. always the Optimistic

  146. King Eric says:

Fze123 – They will be getting European Cup tatoo’s.

  147. wayne says:

yes boys lets stick it to them tomorrow, game time here is 12.45pm gotta get up at 5.00am do deliveries and be in edmonton for game time at a pub called the elephant and castle i’m fucking pumped right now

  148. King Eric says:

    *tattoo’s*

  149. Ulster Red says:

    willierdnut
yea agree about the chance of citeh attracting better players with C.L football next year, hopefully spurs finish there but not after taking points from us lol.

  150. willierednut says:

    @redscot

When you put that tent up mate, make sure there’s no holes in it lol.

  151. Costas says:

    @redscot

I also believed that Spurs were favorites for 4th spot until I saw their fixtures. But then again. City also have to play against us and Arsenal.

Who did you mean by “prized asset”? Stevie Me or Torres? Because I ‘ve heard plenty of people predict that Stevie Me, being the captain fantastic that he is, will probably leave them in the summer and go to City.

  152. jellybean says:

@ king eric- thanks mate. should be an easy one hopefully, i’m just glad its tomorrow morning and not after the champions league match!

of course the bitters will be bigging themselves. as if they haven’t been all season, with their dumass “welcome to manchester” poster, and saying “we’re bigger and better than united” and how they’re going to take us over because of our debt. amazing how they can’t see that there have been many pretenders to the throne, but all everyone was ousted by united. read a piece by andy cole a while ago, where he talked about him playing against united while he was blackburn, and he scored but united still won 3-1. he said tevez just has to accept that united will always be few steps ahead of whichever team he joins after leaving united, because anywhere else is a step down. beckham, ron, ruud and countless others have discovered the exact same thing upon leaving.

  153. willierednut says:

    @Ulster Red

We always beat Spurs at old Trafford, we gave them a two goal lead last season and they still couldn’t beat us.

  154. Fze123 says:

@ King Eric, they will also book flights and hotels for next year’s venue for the final as soon as this season is over mate.

  155. Ulster Red says:

    willierednut
i remember that match well, i was in liverpool for a stg do and watched it in the city centre, what a match

  156. james21 says:

    @ Fze123
Good comment. But it wouldn’t be a Season if the Bitters fans didn’t tell us what they were going to do to Utd.
What a massive club they are and there is a shift in power.
    @ Redscott
Yes lets not big Kettle neck up. Ugly scarfaced troll.

  157. jellybean says:

i was wondering, does anybody have stats for xavi’s passing? i know even a year back i think scholes had a 91% of his passes successful, and he had played a similar amount of games as fabregas and fat frank etc. and since we always hear about xavi’s brilliant passing abilities, was wondering if anyone had stats to compare the 2.

  158. Ulster Red says:

    jellybean
im not sure mate, but im sure costas or A.I.G! will have something for you soon!

  159. Costas says:

Sorry guys. I couldn’t find anything on players’ successful passes. I would suspect though that Xavi’s ratio is pretty high.

  160. jellybean says:

yea was thinking Costas is the man for this job, i did find something, but it’s only for last season and mostly talks about the champions league semi finals.

Over two legs against Chelsea, Barcelona attempted a mind-blowing 1,359 passes, with 82.1% of them finding their intended target. Their opponents, in the same 180 minutes, attempted 687 passes, with a success rate of 59.5%.

Xavi himself attempted 226 passes in the two games – roughly one-third of Chelsea’s team total – and completed 73.8% as he constantly sought to outwit the English team’s seemingly impenetrable defence.

In the Champions League this season, Barca’s pass completion is 87.2%, way in front of any of their rivals – Manchester United are fifth, with 82.6%.
In in their semi against Arsenal, United attempted 1,102 passes, completing 70.4% but it is a safe bet that Sir Alex Ferguson will not be expecting his team to dominate possession in the Stadio Olimpico, then.

did scholesy even start the 2 legs against arsenal? i don’t think he did….

  161. shebangsthedrums says:

Well done Scott, easily the best by far.

    Lawman10 – Don’t listen to that shite.

  162. redscot says:

@ Willie, lol of course its from Lidl so its water tight and almost bomb proof, just no Poles.
@ Costas I certainly dont mean Gerrard he is washed up and beached mate. Off topic for a Mo if i was Cornetto on form I would certainly be considering not to take him to SA. He just looks a spent force, you know after you have emptied yer balls, limp hopeless and small.Or Rafa has lost the dressing room.
Off course I mean Fernando, set aside dislikes he is there only ASSET. I would give anything to see him in the”proper Red” but we are busted financially. It will break my heart if Shitty make 4 th and they sign him.
They can sign other mercerinaries. I dont care many available.

If that happens I am gonna take up table tennis. or get a permanent line to the samaratains. lol

  163. Ulster Red says:

    redscot
i wouldnt have that barbie looking twat anywhere near united, our club is far to classy for somone like him, he is a great talent but is a little bitch at the same time and the past few weeks have proved that with constantly moaning to anyone that will listen.

  164. KevKev says:

I must admit, I only come on here and read the stuff and rarely if ever actually comment (unless absolutly neccessary). But I think im going to start regularly commenting and become aprt of the republik a bit more vocally.

But I enjoy reading the back and forth responses to the posts aswell as the insightfulness (is that a word) of the posts themselves.

*Raises a glass to Scott and all his minions*

    Keep up the great work!

    UNITED

  165. james21 says:

    @ Costas
Might find something on Sky Sports Premier League opta stats. Had a quick look but eyes are failing as bed calls. You probably use the site anyway.

  166. CroneKills says:

Congrats RoM!!! This is by far my favorite United blog – Awesome support and comments! I commend you all

  167. Costas says:

    @redscot

Aha. Well, I don’t see Liverpool selling Torres for any asking price. And I don’t think he would consider playing fo City. He looks like he has half a brain. :P Could he cut it at Man United? Probably yes. But do we need him? I would say no. I mean, in the 90s, the most prolific goal scorer was that twat Alan Shearer. And we tried to buy him on two occasions. In the end, it didn’t make any difference. I am actually gutted when we miss out on exciting wingers or attacking midfielders. They make the real difference for us.

  168. Costas says:

    @James 21

Thanks. I think Jellybean can check it out for info.

  169. ROONEY'S TURN TO EAT says:

    Congrats Scott,
havent posted in a while, but trust me, i’m always on the blog :)

  170. ROONEY'S TURN TO EAT says:

in my opinion, the award was long overdue!

  171. jellybean says:

@ costas- as the old song goes, “alan shearer was fuckin dearer, please don’t take my solsjkaer away”. i think that pretty much echoes the sentiment of every united fan under the sun. we might not have gotten shearer, but noone would swap him for ole! the opta sky stats are just for the prem league, but for anyone whose interested-
    http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11096_2705370,00.html

mascherano’ has the most passes, but hardly surprising given he played almost every game for them.

anyway, all…good night. really enjoyed all the posts tonight and from the last few days actually. hopefully tomorrow will be a better day with all of us glowing from an away victory :) come on you reds!!

  172. rooney the new king says:

King Eric – shearer is a lier no pundit tipped united christ I did not tip united to win the league unless other players step up and finally they are. but like I said come back on saterday 3pm if we are happy or sick has dogs

  173. redscot says:

@ ulster ohhh come on mate, fuck Barbie and Ken,THEY are plastic dollies. IF you cant see his class? did you watch the game at Dunderland yesterday as an example. He is on top Form other than our own Magician probably the top striker in the world at present(injury free).I would take him at the drop of a hat.For lads that think I have a pop i play football manager.Not. I barely have electricity were i live. But I wont bang on about who I like and dont, I just think this lad Torres has proven he can crack it in the EPL and if Puddle dont make 4th will be for sale.!
But I respect your view just cant coordinate with it. lol

  174. rooney the new king says:

WOW ppl check this out chelski are the 4th highest paid team in the world christ our squad is severly underpaid. we are a team of champions and it shows money does not guarentee success

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1262115/Chelsea-players-fourth-best-sports-team-paid-world-BUT-Premier-League-make-10.html

  175. rooney the new king says:

redscot – I do play football manager myself its a fun game to play

  176. redscot says:

@ costas agreed he does have a brain and no inbred allegiance. He is Spanish, not as some boys suggest on here a scouser twat..
ok he wore that minging awfull kit, lol but he wore Athletico Madrid also, he will never ever sign for the destroyer’s in Madrid.
For a player of his Class Costa’s now bear in mind he is a highly prized asset you tell us where he will go
to? If it goes tits up at puddle this season or next.
I would suggest maybe a blackpool. roflmao

  177. Costas says:

    @jellybean

Goodnight. Lets hope we will be celebrating at this time tomorrow!

    @redscot

It’s hard to make predictions in today’s football, but it really wouldn’t surprise me if he stayed at Pool even if they finished 7th. The real question is what happens if Pool decide to see him for financial reasons. He won’t have much say in it and in that case, the most likely candidate is City. But he could veto it. Like Kaka did last January. They could do an exchange with Barca with him and Ibrahimovic. Who knows?

But, if he does end up at City, what difference could he make? Look at Tevez. He has a record over there that would make Torres proud. But they are still crap :P

  178. redscot says:

agree with king eric, all the best with your exam jellybean. Do yourself proud.
When I took exams I always used to have all my course/answers work on my shirt sleeves arms Trouser’s and all body parts.I Generally ended up looking like a nudist.
Let us no the results buddie.

  179. Costas says:

    @jellybean

    Oh and good luck!

  180. Xyth says:

Congratulations Scott. Your site deserves all the praise that it gets.

Off the topic: Mike Dean in charge of Premier League title showdown between Manchester United and Chelsea

Do I smell a stinker here? Is it a coincidence that we get the worst referee for the most important match of the season? Or are they all the same – simply crap. I truly hope the lads take the matters in their own hands and don’t let this clown spoil anything.

  181. rooney the new king says:

    our top 3 goalscorers
    rooney 33
    berbatov 12
    own goal 11

we now can name a first own goal 11 cnt be assed to name all 11, it would be interesting how they would do against all 20 prem teams

  182. redscot says:

@ costas nite mate. you wont derail my ambition.
as a blogger said zee you in Germany
    Believe On ON On
nite ladz great laffs as normal.

  183. Costas says:

    Night redscot. And everyone else.

  184. Giles Oakley says:

It’s quite uncanny. Fred tells us he looks like Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt, only better looking. That is EXACTLY how I imagined Fred must look. How weird is that? Quite takes your breath away. And, you know what, even more amazingly, that means Fred looks just like me! Honest.

Best of luck with your exams Jellybean. You have the whole RoM Empire behind you on this one.

  185. Suhayl says:

    Congrats Scott

  186. rooney the new king says:

well franck ribery has reported in the sun is calling united a one man team, whats wrong then ribery your standard of players you dont rate like fletcher evra carrick nani valencia giggs scholes ferdinand vidic VDS berbatov are not like the ones at the fascest who have superstars out of their asses or expensive flops or players with some reputation like ramos casillas marcello alonzo diarra ronaldo kaka benzema raul. madrid have superstars so the fascest must be the best oh I forgot they are out of europe.

What the media the pundits and idiots like ribery never learn is money and superstar names never make you a great side that will win trophys, look at the difference on how united built their sides and the difference how the fascest have bought and built their side should always come has a lesson to every club dont think 5 or 6 big name players in 1 team make you great, united is the right way not the fascest. United still to this day by everyone the media pundits rival fans players against united look at the united players who are not wayne rooney and they are seen has average and it is quite disrespective and an insult and a lack of knoledge of how the game is played.

  187. Walk in the Park says:

    @rtnk

robben also said that.he even go further by questioning our team ability if rooney not playing..its time to show him what man utd is all about

  188. Jeet says:

@jellybean: Hope your exams go well…if you are having a j and a boozer night before your exam, and can still type accurately, you are my type of guy…I am way past being a student, but still remember those glory days wistfully..lol

@GHTT: Thanks for the honorable mention:)…to be honest, I dont post as much as I should because I have little to add except “I agree” to a lot of the posts already there! One guy I miss is Read Carefully What I Say – amazing wit!

To all the RoM regulars: If you ever find yourself in New Delhi, gimme a shout on the forum – promise you a good time!

Let’s will ourselves to a win tonight!

  189. jellybean says:

@ rtnk- thought robben was actually the one who labeled united a one man team, read that article on goal.com and kept swearing at the smug little fuck. but, then i read an interview of his on soccernet where he says “united are not a one-man team”. so maybe that was just typical sensationalist journalism by goal.com.
    http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=763028&sec=uefachampionsleague&root=uefachampionsleague&cc=4716

@ jeet- hehe, i’m a girl actually but will take that as a compliment nonetheless…guess u’ll have a long night today because of the match. i’m in bangladesh, the games are usually at 1:45 leading me to be pretty wrecked the next day :S thank god the times changed and they’re at 12:45 now!

@ everyone else- thanks for all the kind words! with all of you behind me, there’s no way i couldn’t ace this exam now..(let’s hope!) here’s an article about all the people who were in camp nou in 99 on that fateful night. includes becks, ole, basler and even clive tyldesley..

Sir Giles Oakley, GHTT, King Eric, Costas, AIG, Fred, Corea, RTNK, willierednut, redscot, boogeyman, and all the others who are logged in here almost all the time…..a big thank you to all of you….
Some really hard days at work have become easier after reading you guys’ views with your passion for United, the humour, the banter……which is what drew me to the site in the first place….the burning passion for United that everyone has on here….

I agree with Sanj in that we live almost half way around the world with each other but I know some of you guys better than I do the guy in the adjoining room at work…..

I wish i could post on here more often, but the work dictates how much I can…..

And I must seriously re-consider my decision to keep away from the computers on weekends unless I am working…..I try to reserve the weekends for the family and other committments but it seems i am missing out on way too much fun here!

Cheers to all of you guys….here’s hoping to another great European night for United…..
    Get Stuck in Lads!

Congr. Scott. So many comments and post here everyday, i struggle to keep up the pace this blog is running.

  195. Jeet says:

Interesting anecdote about RoM at work – my team sees my glued to the site and think bloody hell – the boss doesnt do any work”, but the person who sits right next to me cant say a word because her bf is a gooner and in the same office…and he is glued to the gooner news! he’s a junior guy, and lives in mortal fear that I take out my merciless banter on him during appraisal time!

  196. zain man red says:

  198. Costas says:

    @Suhay

Come back mate! We need your predictions for tonight!

Anyway, here are my predictions about tonight:

Line up: VDS – Rafael, Rio, Vidic, Evra – Nani, Carrick, Fletcher, Scholes, Park – Rooney

    Scoreline: 1-1

  199. Macheda IS GOD says:

Costas why are you always predicting draws?

  200. Costas says:

    @MIG

I don’t always predict draws. Against Bolton I predicted a win. In the big games, I am just a bit more cautious.

  201. Macheda IS GOD says:

LAST 16-A.C MILAN-Return of David Beckham
    QUARTER-FINAL-BAYERN MUNCHEN-Return of Arjen Robben
    SEMI-FINALS-Bordeaux-Return of Laurent Blanc
    FINAL-Return of Barcelona

  202. Swissdevil says:

brilliant job scott, well desered! keep on the good work and the interesting posts! and thanks to all posters. United WE stand!

  203. Macheda IS GOD says:

I remain Silent in big games cause when I predicted a win against arsenal I kept teasing my mate that we would win
    lost 2-1
Barcelona I kept scribbling on the tables united 6-0 Barcelona
    We lost
So i’m pretty my lips are pretty much zip tight

  204. Walk in the Park says:

    @macheda

maybe you should predict we lose….then we will actually win..lol

  205. Costas says:

    @MIG

Well, what I do, is that I always predict the worst scenario in my mind. So, everything that comes after that is a bonus. :D But I don’t believe in jinxing scores and stuff like that. Although last year I changed my lucky wallpaper before the Tottenham game and we were losing 2-0 at half time. I put it back on at half time and look what happened!

  206. huzi says:

    hey all u folks!!!

1st of CONGRATS SCOTT!!! U REALLY DESERVE THIS AND HOPEFULLY YOULL BE GETTING MORE AWARDS (unlike city blogs *34 years*). lol
as for the 4th spot debate im hoping spurs can pull it off though i doubt it because of their run-in, so im hoping the dippers make it instead of shitty.

  207. theboogeyman says:

Suhayl mate come back! RoM’s more fun with you and your dipper bashing!

Congrats Scott! This is the best United site by a mile, even better than the official one.

  208. paul the red says:

The Red Devil – Cheers mate. Your posts are always welcome.

Suhayl has gone off the radar. He occasionally posts a one liner but won’t get into discussions anymore. Come on Suhayl give us one your your belters.

jellybean – Yeah I saw that 99 article. Like Clive Tyldsleys words. That night wouldn’t be the same without his immortal words.

  212. Ulster Red says:

  218. redscot says:

@Ulster Red Aye mate I saw that with the Penalty spot shit.Just pure frustration mate. His head is getting bamboozled at liverpiddle(probably like yours will be after you have sunk your diet of 10 Guiness’s)lol
He truely did not carry on like that at Athletico Madrid from what I remember.
As the saying goes birds of a feather stick together, he has got so many pillocks around him he acts like one now.
Anyhow it sounds as if I infatuatied with him,Just to clarify I am not.So dont dare call me El Nino.lol
Hope you enjoy the Match mate and maybe have a banter with you later.I will have a Swallie later also, get a bit engine grease in the old vocal chords.Shitting bricks here thinking about it.Cheers mate.

  219. Ulster Red says:

    redscot
haha 10 guiness on a school night??? nah only jokin im in pre school.
he was captain at madrid so i think he had a responsibility there at a young aga which he should have kept going at the dippers, but i hear what your saying, like he has our jamie and stevie me to look up to..of course he going to turn into a twat lol!!!
