Fucking Joker. You can not make this up. “City had all the possession against Swansea”…. after 20 minutes the Tafs had 69% of it- deluded doesn’t even begin to cover it.

With this prick representing your club, you’re fucked.

    @ClaytonBlackmoresTan

Jesus. He’s wearing the ‘Why always me?’ t-shirt as well. Wonder how much the club mugged him off for that crock of shite. With fans as suggestible as him, maybe they will be OK with these FFP rules.

  5. Sandeep1878 says:

The Anderson – Pogba thing might be possible, cant rule it out entirely..

though i would love to see Ando wear the red for as long as possible..

Hope the lad will stay injury free…

  6. TheLeftBank says:

The Red Flag Flying High story about the frustration the fans have with Anderson is a good one in contrast to Pogba’s potential being fulfilled.

It’s a reminder how quickly things can change.

I love Anderson but he’s been exceptionally inconsistent and I agree with the writer on the argument that Anderson is only great when he has Cleverley next to him is not reason enough to keep him around for that much longer. Players of the ability of Scholes or Keane always played well regardless who played alongside them such as Djemba-Djemba and Kleberson etc. Anderson has been unlucky with injuries to be sure but I wonder if time is running out for him to really make his mark at United.

Pogba – if the Sky sources are to be believed – may just be the player who finally puts his stamp on that central midfield role – along with Cleverley of course — and finally the torch can be passed on from such worthy servants as Scholes and Giggs.

  7. Balaji Sivaraman says:

Sandeep, The problem with Anderson has always been attitude. The author brilliantly highlights the City match because that is the perfect example of his issue and why it is becoming increasingly difficult to see him as a Manchester United player. We like our players to be triers. Whether they are on or off form, they have to give their 100% on the pitch.

Another problem with Anderson is that his bottom-level is quite low. Unlike someone like Scholes, who can probably never suck. Anderson sucks real bad on his bad days. In essence, his career graph is very similar to Nani’s. However, Nani has raised the level of consistency he provides to us. He still has bad days where he sucks like hell but as time goes by, these are becoming few and far between. For Anderson on the other hand, there seems to be no respite. It is becoming increasingly difficult to see whether he will produce a good, a bad or a distinctly sucky performance on a given game. And that is something you cannot have in a red shirt unfortunately.

Still, the biggest problem is that he plays in a position where the bad day affects the entire team. Nani’s bad days can be overcome by a spectacular performance by someone on the other wing or even a striker. Anderson’s bad days results in sloppy passes, losses of possession, opponents getting too much space and all these stack up in the end result. His mid-field partner (usually a brilliant Carrick this season) is left to do the work of two men and we are eventually exposed on both ends.

He will probably produce stellar performances again when paired with Cleverley but what happens if one has to be rested or is injured, where does he go since he cannot fit in with anyone else. Do I want to see Anderson make it? Yes. Does he have the talent? Probably yes. Do I think he will make it? Mmmm… Ummm… unlikey in the current situation we find ourselves in.

Ultimately, it is Sir Alex’s call. But with Pogba’s inclusion last week, it looks like he will be a United player for the foreseeable future. Add Ryan Tunnicliffe to that who will probably be recalled from loan at the end of the season like Cleverley was last year. You have Michael Carrick who will probably become the senior MF in the team. Maybe or maybe not another new addition. It is unlikely to see Anderson fitting in there unless he drastically changes who he is or how he approaches football.

i see tony v flew out to bilbao, its all coming together nicely. i reckon united will have the league won before wastelands on april 30th, or even sweeter, we win it there. we’ll watch their (half) full stadium crying :)

    Balaji,

Yup have to agree with you on Ando buddy..

The lad needs to put in more efforts and also should change his attitude..

  10. Ben says:

Agree with you Balaji – although Tunnicliffe is already back at United

  11. gerkeo says:

my thoughts on anderson is he needs to grow a pair, he needs to impose himself. i dont know if its a personallity thing or what. its great seeing him smiling away but i want to seen him snarling, i want to see him look at the opposition with the same eyes cantona and keane did knowing and showing he’s better than them. it might just be the case that he cannot do it but good lord i’d love to see him try.

  12. gaz says:

Anderson i think has had his chance i fear and will be left go in the summer to allow Clevs and Pogba to develop. I expect also Tunni to be loaned out again to a PL team this time. I am looking forward to seeing how Robbie Brady develops looks a fine talent on Loan at Hull again i can see him being loaned to a PL club next season.

Also in the news is that fat headed self absorbed toilet of a man John i got 2 managers the bullet in the last few weeks CUNT Terry. this guys ego is incredible purely displaying the cuntishnesh that he is. his “miracolous” recovery from injury when Boas got the sack underlines what a despicable human being he is only thinking of HIMSELF i hope that the slow tortoise fucking sqaushed faced basterd gets an absoulute dicking by Napoli tonight. vermin like him should be wiped out along with the Diving tooth that is Suarez fucking hate that despicable fucker there old fellas should have just jacked one off to rid the world of ever coming across such vile human scum i excrete better morals and ethics then these 2 fucking bog brained fucking CUNTS.

  14. lordrt says:

trailing 3-2 tomorrow for the return leg, may be SAF could play Pogba alongside Scholes to give more impact to the midfield, Valencia is back as well, hopefully he’ll not pick any injury and help us grab a vital win there. As for Ando, I could well see him being sold in the summer, he has been given his chance to impose himself but he’s been inconsistent, and injury-prone as well, and if Pogba does sign a new deal then it could well spell the end of Ando’s career with Utd

  15. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

Usually in a European game with this scoreline, we’d shout BELIEVE.

But in the his Europa case, I doubt even Management gives a rats arse about the scoreline. The league is the priority and this competition like the FA cup is looked upon as a bonus freebie competition.
“If we win GOOD, If we lose…don’t get embarrassed, if we’re out…. Oh well not a heart breaker”.

I would love it if we won 2-0 or 3-1 but against decent opposition with technical ability it seems a tad unlikely. Lets hope an Athletic of Arsenal…Spurs quality turn up then we can win. A clean sheet will be difficult. Anything but an away goals loss will do. That is my nightmare.

With a cup final against Wolves, I hope there is no injuries, I wouldn’t mind us winning at Bilboa + going out, anything to regain some dignity in europe because tbh, european audiences probably think we’re a declining team like Liverpool.

  16. Red Van Nistelrooy says:

With the tremendous form Ando was showing at the start of the campaign till his first injury, I really really thought that this’d be the year he finally came good. He’s been good before but at least there was a consistency about his early form. Injuries do take some coming back from and with our Brazilian players getting so frequently injured it’s east for a section to lose faith in them. As a sub against Bilbao, he showed glimpses of his form… Closing down, tackling, passing, running off the ball… I love this guy and really hope he can find it within himself to be the player we all hope that he’ll become! :)

    http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/european/ashley-young-convinced-manchester-united-can-progress-against-athletic-bilbao-7566174.html?

Is anybody else sick to death of our players relentlessly talking about upcoming games? Young has played really well in the last couple of matches after coming back from injury but they way he talks you’d think he’s been at the top of the game for years. Bilbao played really well last week, they played us off the park, it happens sometimes and it’s not the end of the world but to suggest that we should go over there and beat them… If the players are so confident of their ability to win, keep your mouths shut, get out there, smash them and talk about it afterwards… In fact if they’re so confident of winning why didn’t they do it last week!!

grr. do your talking on the pitch!… at least Patrice has shut up recently!

  25. samuel - united WE stand says:

Kev e – i have to agree with you. Young has been blowing the trumpet a lot recently and that only helps motivates the opposition (not like they aren’t already motivated).

Young has improved his form recently but the jury is still not out on him but he’s a confident player and probably genuinely thinks we can turn over the basque club but i think we need to face the possible reality that we’ll be getting knocked tumbling out by a fantastic footballing team, i’m prepared for that….

  26. wayne says:

kev e don’t see what your issue is if a player is asked questions what do you want them to say? fuck off kev e doesn’t want me talking to the press.

“As a winger you are there to get assists and goals and that is what I have been doing.

  30. wayne says:

samuel i am calm just don’t understand the conclusion drawn by kev e based on Young’s statement, most opinions have reasoning behind it,like to know the reasoning
Young is just stating the truth what the fuck did he say to make kev e draw that conclusion

  31. King Eric says:

I personally now couldnt give a shit about the Europa League. A win, good, we go out, aren’t bothered. Number 20 is THE priority.

  32. Costas says:

Young’s interview seemed ok to me. He didn’t say “we will do this or that”. He said if United play at their best, they can go past Bilbao. Which is something I agree with. The problem in Europe this season has been a combination of playing weakened sides and underestimating our opponents. It’s not that we are not good enough on our day. Saying that we would have reached the Champions League final if we hadn’t been eliminated from the group stages was a far more arrogant comment imo. And it wasn’t Young that said that.

Anyway. Saw the squad for this game. Great to see Valencia back. He should start. A bit worried about Nani and Jones missing out though. I maintain my stance. Even though Rio, Carrick and Rooney have travelled, they shouldn’t start this game. It’s too late to start caring for the Europa League.

  33. gaz says:

good to hear the Evertonians giveing curly ears gnashers a fucking earful i hope he can expect to get that at every away ground until the cockroach pisses off to PSG or wherever.

@King Eric – totally agree with you about the Europa number 20 is the aim fuck the Europa best case scenario is Win the game still go out and Wankini and his band of mercenary pricks stay in it.

  34. Jeet says:

Hola King Eric – how’s life? All well with self and family? Saw your response to that clown Owen on the other thread. I am hardly the one with the thickest red tinted glasses, but when I see idiotic posts like that it just gets my blood boiling.
Onto tomorrow, win or lose, thump or exit, I just hope to see a good spirited performance and 3 in midfield. Seems like Fergie has flown a super strong squad though. So who knows, maybe we do turn out a standout European performance? About time too :)

  35. wayne says:

Never cared about the Europa league i’ve mentioned this a few times but when first asked about the Europa league Sir Alex said punishment, think the club is in the same frame of mind as most fans,if we win fine if we don’t who gives a fuck

    It probably won’t though…

    Unrelated question:

As a United-fan based in Sweden since I was 11 (I’m 28 now), I would like to know more about the geographical divides in the city of Manchester when it comes to United vs citeh…

I have of course been to OT to see United, but I have never explored this issue in any way, but as far as I have understood, United is western Manchester and citeh is eastern. Are there any specific parts of Manchester where support for one team is more or less a given (e.g. Salford for United) etc?

Would be grateful for answers from Manchester-lads, or perhaps a website containing more information on the matter.

    Thanks!

  49. samuel - united WE stand says:

wayne – fair enough but i just don’t think we should shut others down if they have a legitimate view. I think kev e meant players should do the walk first before doing the talk, the media are obviously going to ask questions but i suppose players need to know how to construct a reply because if they don’t live up to their words then they look a clown.

I think Fergie should throw in pogba, cleverly and carrick as a 3man midfield, the probability that we’ll be knocked out by the end of the evening is very likely so why not give pogba a go, nothing to lose.

  50. kev e says:

ouch! :D to be fair it was more the following comment that got my goat…

“We want to win every competition we enter and the Europa League is no different.

“Bilbao were an impressive team last week. They were a very attacking team, had a good team shape and at times we found them hard to break down.

“But I am sure if we are on our game 100% we can go there and get the win we need.”

We’ve had similar comments made by players all the way through this years CL and Europa campaigns and we’ve generally underestimated the teams were up against, motivated them to play better than us, and played poorly. It’s not news to say that this years Europe campaign has been a disappointment. I’m not saying we can’t win there, of course we can, but I’m not expecting it at the moment as we’ve left ourselves a mountain to climb away from home and in Spain. So, Ash could have just said we’re confident but we’ll do our talking on the pitch..

Thought i’d share more jokes with the ROM folks.

According to durham, Steve GBH is more inspirational than our very own ginger midfield dominating maestro paul scholes.

So why is scholes less inspirational?. Is it because paul refuses to hog the limelight despite his immense talent? is it because he doesn’t scream and beat his chest like a demented mythical big-foot or is it because he doesn’t go out beating DJ’s up?. I really want to know how steve GBH is more inspirational than scholes?.

paul is a superb accurate passer, an intelligent creative technician of a football, his awareness is always spot on and scored goals (mostly in his prime). He has been lauded and given credits by top players in the game even though he’s a very humble man. So why is he less inspirational?.

  63. FletchTHEMAN says:

The Blue half is a term used mainly by commentators they also use it for Everton Liverpool.

  65. WillieRedNut says:

There no logic to what Durham says. He thinks Scholes is over rated, but rates Carrick highly. Hates diving, but wouldn’t care if a English player dived to win a tournament!

  66. Andooo says:

To all the people that say they don’t care about the Europa league; why don’t you?

The league is the priority yes i fully understand that but if we can win the league and reach the final of champions league last season I see no reason why these highly paid professionals shouldn’t be able to play 2 games in a week this season.

We have a big squad and if Fergie plays a weak team against them just to give the lesser players playing time as he has been doing all year in Europe, then he hasnt learnt his lesson and I won’t be happy at all.

Are people saying we don’t care about the Europa league in case we lose and get embarrassed? Really can’t get my head round it. I rate this trophy higher than the FA cup and carling cup and we fight for trophies on 2, 3 fronts every year, why is this season any different.

On Anderson, the guy played brilliantly at the start of the season and was arguably our best player for me. His form dipped a little before he got injured and since then we haven’t seen much of him unfortunately. So all the negative comments for me are unjust. He signed a new contract only last season, No chance he’s leaving and if he does I will be gutted!

    Keep the faith people.

  67. ahjs says:

I can see why some think Gerrard is more inspirational as he’s the poster boy for an entire team and runs around a lot like Scotty Parker and whacks a ball like Frank Lampard. But Rafa Benitez saw him for what he was – unable to really play in midfield. Technically deficient, tactically inept with a naive football brain: a scouse Roy of the Rovers without the likeability. Benitez put a quality pair of Alonso and Mascherano back in midfield and let Gerrard play upfield. Their victory against Milan in 2005 was partly due to him bringing Hamann on because Gerrard had a shocking first half in the midfield. He was never really the reason or inspiration as to why they won that match, but people would have you believe he won it like Keane against Juve in ’99 when he didn’t.

Gerrard is the ideal for many English football fans as the a headless chicken par excellence and that’s why I find it easy to not support the national team anymore. When Scholes retired and Gerrard and Lampard were in the middle, I couldn’t support them and haven’t since. I’ve watched on with interest as a couple of years later Italy based around Pirlo and France based around Zidane contested the World Cup final, then Spain based around Xavi won the lot whilst England literally couldn’t string four passes together.

I’d love to see us win the Europa League. Unfortunately, the manager and the players showed that they didn’t share that sentiment with their indifference so far. So now we are left with a choice. Play our strongest team on Thursday or play it at Wolves where we lost last year. There can only be one option. If City get the 1st spot back this week, it will be a huge let off for them.

Smalling will be on the bench.

  75. Costas says:

    From manutd.com:

Sir Alex on Berbatov: “He could play tomorrow but I have good options with front players. His contract situation is we will be taking up the renewal option on the contract, but having had chats with him, he wants to get first team football and we need to consider that at the end of the season. At the moment he remains at United. I’d listen to what he says. I think he’s concerned he isn’t getting enough first-team football but it’s difficult for me to guarantee that. You can understand he wants that at 31. It may lead to him looking elsewhere.”

So we will renew the contract, but he will still leave. What I suspected.

  76. WillieRedNut says:

Berba could play tomorrow. On his contract, there’s no guarantees he will get the games he wants. Fergie will speak with him before any decision is made.

  77. FletchTHEMAN says:

James21 Agree with you about Llorente, he is a handful. But I feel the key problem is how high up the park they play us. Really positive from them and always going to cause problems. If they nick a goal we will have a mountain to overcome. First goal will be very very interesting. Hope Sir Alex tells everyone to shoot on site! .)

  78. Costas says:

What happened to Jones? I remember him limping a bit last Saturday, but he finished the game. It’s really sad that Rio is forced into this pointless game now. I hope he’ll be up for the Wolves game.

  79. FletchTHEMAN says:

    Costas,
Saw that mate. Interesting that Berbatov appears happy enough on the bench. I respect him for that. Still would have rather all the B team had more opportunities in the cups which really didn’t pan out for Berbatov or Owen this year. Berbatov won’t even get a winners medal for the prem at this rate, well maybe just. Think he has 9 appearances and needs 10. Might just limp over the line then. Bit daft for some one who is odds on to score every time he laces up the boots.

What a club. I do luv it so.

  80. James21 says:

    Fletch
Yeh I think the same 1st goal is vital if the Team and SAF want to progress. We need Rooney to be on fire and watch those counter attacks they can afford to sit back and wait for their chance.

  81. FletchTHEMAN says:

    SAF presser:

It was an outstanding performance from them, not just in terms of ability but energy as well. They had the highest stats in terms of distance run of any team at OT for the last 10 years. They’re an emerging team who I think will do very well in the coming few years.”

  82. Costas says:

    @Fletch

Hi mate. Well Berbatov has done a good job of keeping his dignity and not going down the Tevez route. For anyone complaining about Tevez’s lack of playing time in 08-09, at this stage of the season Tevez had started 25 games and made 10 sub appearances (35 in total and 10 goals). Berba has started 11 games and made 8 sub appearances (19 in total and 9 goals). And if you remember how much Tevez bitched about being benched, these numbers make Berbatov’s stance even more respectable.

And I had a look about his Premiership appearances. He’s on 10 already, so no worries. ;)

  83. FletchTHEMAN says:

    Costas..
    Cheers. Thanks for the correction.
You asked about Jones. Heard it was a case of the flu for him.
Anderson still 5wks away with his hamstring
Nani ankle not to bad though

    Great to have Valencia back.

  84. FletchTHEMAN says:

    BREAKING:
Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Man Utd’s record signing Dimitar Berbatov will leave Old Trafford in the summer

    From Sky

  85. Costas says:

    @Fletch

I think Sky are drawing their own conclusion there. Fergie didn’t confirm it. Just heavily hinted at it. ;)

Thanks for the updates. I didn’t know about them. Hope Jones is ready for Sunday. We will need him as an RB at Wolves. Likewise for Nani. At least Antonio is back!

Dazbomber @ 16:42: “where I live a lot of the pubs fly United flags from roofs and sides of the buildings and have United photos of the teams through out the years on the walls it’s like a Religion every thing is built around match days , most of the lads I watch the match with I went to Old Trafford 40 years ago and we are still mates and watch every match together”

Where I live – in downtown Toronto – there’s a house down the street that flies a UTD flag.

I see lots of people in UTD caps, shirts, scarves but NEVER a single person in BlueMoanBlue – some Arsenal shirts/caps, an occasional pseudo-scouser, an infrequent WannaBeRentBoy, and a fair-few Barcelona fan-boys.

Overall, my rough statistics would be that it’s even between UTD and everyone else.

I was just in Mexico; there you see lots of “Chicharito 14″ UTD shirts, too. No other European club in evidence there apart from Barcelona – lots of Chivas Guadalajara fans (Chicharito’s former club) and a great many national-team shirts.

  87. JC says:

Disagree, Rafael actually defends better in the air as seen in his blanketing of DonkeyCarroll. The only real threat Wolves have is Steven Fletcher and the way Wolves have been playing the past few weeks I expect them to give up before they even walk on the pitch. They’re clearly just running out the season with every expectation of being relegated and no longer care.

  88. denton davey says:

James21 @ 17:15: “Denton Your name suggests to me you’re from Denton in Tameside, Greater manchester. Maybe you’re not.”

I was born in Denton – net to Gorton where Nicky Butt comes from – and spent my first year living on the Ashton Road before moving to Canada.

    Once a Red…….

ahjs – Perfect summary of Stevie GBH mate.

Durham at times is a mug and tonight he was but he was good value last night winding gooners up about their lap of honour for beating an inferior Newcastle side at home. How he doesn;t rate Scholes is beyond me. Clown.

  90. James21 says:

Cheers mate. Was just being nosey. :D
I have a small interest in Denton because of the towns Hat Trade.

I love ando, but his injuries are disturbing. I do play football too, not a pro, though. I mean i understand injuries are hinderances.
