Regarding the Guardian article, if we win the league this season for me it will rank as second best after 93 and since then there has been some great ones so its a great compliment…. 99 springs to mind

  3. theboogeyman says:

Cedars- I think it would be the best in my time supporting United if we won it this year.

It’s amazing how many we’ve won since I was born tbh. Makes the PL seem more one-sided than La Liga!

This twat was urging him to stay just a month ago and saying that he supported City

Hello my young friend, I suppose it we each look at it from our own perspective. I had to wait 17 years for or 93 win whilst the club were waiting for 26. That would be very hard to match for me…..

As I said though, if we win it this year it will be a very close second

Loved watching the Garrincha clip on You tube via the ManUtd24 link.
Stop Start, Stutter, Start, Bamboozle, Stutter, Burst of pace then BANG.

Tony V apparently wants to do some dance regime according to the mirrors link. Can just imagine him throwing some shapes in front of the Stretty ala 80′s Porn DJ ”Tony V”

  7. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

Fuck that Cedars just by beating the chavs that won the lottery doesnt come anywhere near for me.

    92/93 after 26 years
94/95 – Arguably the best ever united side
    95 – The double double
    99 – The treble
2008 – Our best ever attacking side we were ridiculous, plus we had gone a few years without winning it.
2011 – Unreal year as we took over the bin dipper ………………..19

2012 will be great as it is 20 and we have ensured a difficult season but fuck City they dont deserve that accolade

  8. Brigadier19 says:

    Giggs 12
Some fine moments there and your right City don’t deserve that accolade. It would be so nice to shut them fuckers up all the same.

    Cedars
Let the poncy twat go to the virus. Maradona top player but fucked it for me when he started slagging Fergie off earlier in the year, saying how this should be done etc etc. No the Fergie way is how it should be done.

At the end of the day 1992 wont be happening for a long long time. I shudder at the thought of that ever happening again

  9. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

Thanks Jeet, Im honoured to accept comment of the thread ;)

Costas – Thanks mate, if more people were like me, this would be better and sexy place

Samuel – Mate I don’t think of you as a knee jerker but I can tell your not very sentimental indeed, however keep going with the replies, it makes RoM and its posters more alert to possible discussion topics. With the return of StR and some really good thread and discussion in the last few weeks, I think RoM is returning to its past glory and status as the best blog around. Just in time for the Title run-in.

:D Great posts BobbyCharlie….consistently good posts by this fella, always entertaining to read.

Cannot argue with that, list pal, like you for me nothing will ever beat 93

  11. CedarsDevil says:

Remember the media going after Fergie’s head back in 90 was it? Saying he’d won fuck all and will be gone. Then going on for years about that Mark Robins goal that saved his job. what utter nonsense Martin Edwards and Sir Bobby kept coming out time and time again denying this rubbish.

No wonder the boss has a ‘soft’ spot for media

Each title is a huge fucking achievement, but beating City (IF WE DO) will be up there. Look at the resources they have. Look at ours. Look at the injuries we’ve had. They’ve had none.

It will be a MASSIVE achievement to do it, but I don’t think it’ll be my favourite. I think number 19 was special. It was brilliant.

    http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4238445/Gareth-Bale-I-snubbed-Manchester-United-move.html

    What an unambitious fool.

I wanted him back in 2007 as a left back because I thought he was the new Ashley Cole and would be a great addition to our wing backs and would develop into a Roberto Carlos type player. Spur got him for £10m which was like £2/3m higher than our bid but Southampton sold to the highest bidder like they did with Walcott and Crouch, doubt he had any real say as a 17 year old.

How much does the chimp regret not moving to OT? Sounds like he will for the rest of his life.

Like all the rest, he’s silly (Ramsey,Oxlade, Bale, Benzema, Villa, Nasri, Sneijder), where are they now? or How far have they progressed?

  16. parryheid says:

    HaH Garrincha lite.Like that description

  17. Balaji Sivaraman says:

In my decade of supporting United, there have been two special titles so far.

The first one was in 2002-03 where we beat those arrogant Gooner bastards by coming down from 8 pts behind in March. It was special in many ways because the previous season was my first ever supporting United and they won the title at Old Trafford that year. To win the title in the following season by coming back from behind was really special.

The second and even more special one was 2006-07. We had gone 3 years without the title and everybody had written us off to follow Liverpool after the departures of Keane and Van Nistelrooy and the arrival of the shit *cough, cough* Michael Carrick. We ended up winning the league comfortably in the end which started a new era of domination.

Although every title is special in its own way obviously, those two stick closely to my heart. By that measure, this season would be up there with them. The pain of the 6-1 loss at the end of which I bet my name on United winning the title in May. The nonsense of watching City gloat when they have achieved fuck all. The pain of losing Vida and Fletcher for the long term. You could point to much more. The fact that we’re 5 pts clear and on the verge of landing the 20th makes it very special for me.

However, in terms of Sir Alex’s achievements, it will rank right up there for him. But come on, how can you measure when he has consistently achieved the impossible. This is a man for whom nothing is impossible and everything is a challenge that he blows away. City being no different from Blackburn, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool.

  18. wayne says:

Samuel saw the comments taking shots at Clint, there’s a difference between constructive criticism and pre juding players and then writing them off.Your already slagging off Young and saying he’s not Utd quality. That tells me a lot about you. You’re the worst for picking on players and always want to disguise it under every fan has a right to complain but you do it way to much and once you’ve made up your mind a player has no chance

  19. samuel - united WE stand says:

Clint – i always wondered why players at some stage in their careers say they snubbed united? does it boost their self esteem or something?

Secondly, why are players worried about not getting chances at united when clearly Fergie has a track record of believing in young players?. If you’re good enough, you’ll be in the team.

  20. MG says:

Quickly then since I need to go back to school

06/07 was the title for me after everything we had gone through – it was so emotional and so bloody positively supercharged that living through it was incredible and especially since it was against Mourinho and Chelsea.

That year Rooney and Ronaldo came of age and everything else is history – shame that Ronaldo left early but hey only God knows where you dream right?

Of course the title in 93 is so important and is so for more reasons but the 99 title was exceptionally memorable too

I guess at the end we are lucky and privileged and who knows this one has been the hardest to go for yet, let’s win it and carry on.

    19

  21. samuel - united WE stand says:

Wayne – How i perceive players is my choice, you post what you want i post what i want, i Don’t have to explain myself to you or anyone and you can come up with any conclusion you like because that’s your view, it will have no bearing on what i post now or whenever.

Secondly i haven’t taken shots at clint, he himself read my post well and replied adequately but hey you’re super-man to the rescue aren’t you? so i’ll let you win that one.

  22. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

    Balaji –
Decade? Since 2003, You are a baby still Mate, What was you doing before Manchester United? Unless your 15 years old now, you should be asking people serious questions about how you wasn’t introduced to United earlier in your life. I’ve supported United for 15+ years proper but the (plus) was on/ off being a teen I had my time fixed on other things, and the kiddy years I barely remember, but the brain is still fresh from 1997 season !

Explains why I love VDS more than Schmikes, I just paid attention more to Edwin, but I do remember the likes of Robbo,Sparky, Bruce, Cantona, etc who could forget them ! I just wished I’d paid attention more to United during the early to mid 90′s.

I’m not one for other teams blogs but I have had a fucking excellent morning scouring blue moon. Fuck me , I know Bernard manning was a blue but he could not produce the belly laughs the bluemooners can induce.

  25. Balaji Sivaraman says:

Papii, Well, I am 24 and started supporting United in my teens. Cricket is the sport in India. So, I introduced myself to football on a very lonely day in 2001 where I had nothing else to watch and decided to watch our comeback from 3-0 down to beat Spurs 5-3. Needless to say, my life hasn’t been the same since that day.

Oh yeah, I agree, how I regret not supporting United in 99. I think I will take take that regret to my grave.

  29. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

    Samuel -
I just reckon, its words straight from an agent trying to reignite a possible transfer again. Its absolute non-sense, we give youth every opportunity even if they fail they get opportunities and play at minimum 20 games which more than enough.

Evans,Rafael, Smalling,Jones,Anderson,Fletcher,Nani,Chicha,Gibson,Richardson,Welbeck Ronaldo all got the chance they deserved regardless of the competition at the time.
SAF is the best at throwing players into the deep end, he calculates every match to give at least one kid the chance to shine.

    @Willie
Someones taking shots at me, pull out the bulletproof vest buddy, Its 2pac & Biggie all over again….THUG LIFE !

  30. samuel - united WE stand says:

Yeah because i really am the only united fan or football neutral observer that questioned ashley young’s ability to be the dominant match winning winger at united, a club plying its trade at the highest level.

Never said young was a bad player, i simply asked if he had the required mental state and attributes to become even better at united, i said time will tell and i hope he turns out good but i’ve never been an admirer of his and i won’t lie about that, i have never written him off but i challenged him to see if he can be better (his form has improved) but the sensitive bunnies jumped on parts of my comments and conjure their own conclusion, there’s not much i can do about that. We’re all united fans and It would be a sad state if the bickering continues.

  31. CedarsDevil says:

    Papii

Only 15 years supporting the club? Bunch of kids here lol

Seriously though, its not the amount of time that you have followed United that matters its HOW you support them. Someone who may have followed for 2 or 3 years may easily have a lot more passion and love than someone who has done it for 10

  32. Balaji Sivaraman says:

Cedars, Had my drink already. Ready to take the nap in my desk. BTW, old man, take your pills on time.

More seriously, we had the right role-models (many on here) in terms of demonstrating the passion it takes to support this great club.

  33. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

You thinks that bad Balaji, I missed the 99 final because I had sleepover at a mates ( I was a flipping dumb kid).

My dad watched it, My brother watched, hell my mother watched it, everybody but me :(
I watched it the day after and realised what I had missed out on. 8)

  34. WillieRedNut says:

Papii – Hit Em Up! :P

  35. wayne says:

Samuel that’s just a lie on a thread weeks ago you said Young won’t progress as a Utd player and he was just coming off a injury, same as Berba slagging him off against Stoke when the whole team stunk and it was Berbas first league game of the season. You don’t offer constructive criticism, you make your mind up about players and pick on them

  36. samuel - united WE stand says:

clint – You’ve listed some outstanding younger players there to show that united do give a chance and a player does have the opportunities to be a mainstay in the team.

ronaldo arrived from the ports of lisbon as a player with ability but Fergie instilled winning mentality, efficiency and with the portuguese undoubted talent, he transformed into a machine for united and now real madrid. I think these so called players that snubbed united lack the belief and perhaps it’s best that they never once donned the famous shirt of united.

  37. WillieRedNut says:

I’ve never took Wayne for a sensitive bunny. The opposite is probably the truth. ;) I think Samuel has a point though. We shouldn’t take everything to heart. Not like we know these players on a personal level. On the best title to win? First one after 26 years will always be special to me. Knowing what my old man, and countless other United fans went through, when Liverpool were the dominate force. 06/07 was great too. Seeing off Mourinho’s Chelsea. This one will be up there. Just not the bet imo.

  38. samuel - united WE stand says:

Wayne – like i said, it’s your opinion and my choice to post what i want, it’s probably best you play hide and seek and ignore my post if it goes against your stainless principles as the super-hero. i Don’t think i’ve ever mentioned or debated with you on here, you clearly do have a chip on your shoulder though so let it all out as you’re wasting your time, you won’t change what i post.

  39. Costas says:

    @Papii

You’re welcome. I won’t disagree with that.

    @wayne

Hi mate. So you have a violin of your own then?

    Well said.

  40. CedarsDevil says:

Is Papii Cisse at Newcastle the same person as our poster?

  42. WillieRedNut says:

Can I play the piano, if yous are playing the violins? Cedars on the trumpet! :)

  43. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

    Wayne

Not my debate mate but Samuel doesnt pick on players he is one of the best posters on here. He always adds great value. With Young he had a similar opinion as me where we didnt feel he was up to it at United.

Always happy to eat a bit of humble pie should a player prove me wrong,

  44. samuel - united WE stand says:

Willie – i know i’m harsh and straight to the point with players and that offends people on here but i don’t think i’ve purposely went out to ridicule players or “Pick on them”. I over-analyse players and want them to become better while i also do have serious doubts about some and if they prove me wrong then i always put my hands up.

where is this? the kindergarten? this is why this blog has been accused of being one dimensional.

This supposed bullshit with berbatov has rumbled on. Sorry for not being the sympathetic samaritan for any professional premier league player, clearly there are more people around the world going through hardships. And i’ve never questioned berbatov’s ability. He’s the best technical player in this squad but it doesn’t mean he’ll definitely blend into the way united play, it’s a team game not the best gatherings of the best individuals. Sorry for strongly stating my opinion on this as i clearly have to post like a robot on here to please people who claim I “Pick on” players. Awwww.

  45. Brigadier19 says:

    @Cedars

Yeah bud I remember the old ”Mark Robins saved Fergie from the bullet” blarny.
The ABU’s go on about it and have been for way over 20 years, its like City boasting about the 5-1 from 1989, never hear the end of it until the 6-1 result from this year that’s like 23 years of boasting from the bitters.
It makes them feel better about there pathetic selves and if that’s what it takes they can have it.
Who would you believe, some jumped up Journo or the Great Man himself Bobby Charlton.
    Just Triffic

  46. Giles Oakley says:

United have not won anything yet, nothing at all. Please don’t fall into the trap set by sections of the media that really don’t want United (and Fergie) to win another title. They want everyone connected to the Reds to think it’s already safely in the bag,so that complacency sets in. There is a very long way to go and no easy games. All United’s opponents have strong reasons for ‘putting in a shift’ against us, whether it’s to stave off relegation (QPR, Wigan, even Villa) or through pride in beating potential Champions, (Swansea, Everton, Sunderland), plus we still have that six-pointer with City. The time to start comparing the merits of different title-winning seasons is when we’ve won another title, if and when that happens, not before.

I loved the Garrincha article. I remember him well , particularly from the 1962 World Cup, when I thought he was such an exciting player. What the short compilation of clips can’t convey is the sense of fear created in opposing defenders’ minds every time ‘The Little Bird’ got the ball. There was an immediate frisson you could feel in the crowd, even through grainy black and white TV pictures. Funnily enough the same was true of our own Bobby Charlton playing out on the left wing for England in that same Wold Cup, the one bright part of a disappointing tournament . As for comparisons between Garrincha and Valencia, there is certainly a likeness, the tough, muscular legs, the stutter (great term for it), the the difficulty in getting the ball off him, and the constant threat down the right.

One other thing, I had the honour of meeting Garrincha’s widow in 1997. Sadly she was then living in comparative poverty in Rio but her eyes lit up when I told her through an interpreter that I thought her late husband was one of the best footballers I’d ever seen. Last summer I was staying by chance in a hotel near Ravenna in Italy with the Brazil Beach Soccer World Cup team (who I saw losing in the final to Russia) and I got talking to the manager aboiut great players. He thought Garrincha was possibly a better player than Pele, and was impressed I remembered him. Incidentally, he was a big fan of the Da Silva twins, saying people back home were pleased they are doing well at United.

  47. samuel - united WE stand says:

Giggs12 – finally someone that does read my post well and gets the point. You are a quality contributor to the blog on and so are many of course.

  48. CedarsDevil says:

    Sammy Sam

My ever nervous friend (As i love to refer to you for a laugh) I read your posts mate, if I have a point to make I do if not I move on. I do enjoy them though.

I also love wayne’s posts, he is extremely passionate. I guess we will always see and say things differently and that is part of the beauty of this place

  49. CedarsDevil says:

    Sir Giles

Great seeing you up and posting here, hope you are well. First off, I agree we have NOT won anything yet, still have a tough job to do.

Regarding Garrincha, I remember buying a VHS tape (Yes I am quite old’ish) In 83 which had a summary of every world cup final from 1930 through to 1982. The video had additional emphasis on Garrincha from the 58 and 62 world cups and he looked absolutely amazing

  50. Jeet says:

@Giles: Thanks for bringing in perspective. I have decided that I am going to go back to my fingers-crossed-don’t-jinx-it state after one day of pure tension release/celebration (yesterday). Nothing’s done, still some considerable way to go. Focus, and one game at a time.

My old man always said Garrincha and Jairzinho were the players that made Pele, they being far better players. Since he also believed, and vehemently too, that Maradona was better, but Georgie was the Best, he clearly knew something about football – I have to agree with him :)

  51. wayne says:

Samuel the day I run from you or your posts is the day I’ll be in the box, you fucking wrote Young of weeks ago as not Utd quality after only seeing him play a handful of games don’t have a chip on my shoulder at all just stating the facts

  52. Zibbie says:

Sir Giles, a game at a time and points will be dropped.

I saw that game on TV where Russia won. I might have seen Sir Giles in the stands. Cool…

  53. chica chica says:

I dont know when i started supporting Man Utd. Likely to be in the late 70s as a teenager. Back then it was on the telly as Big League Football or something. I recall the names like McQueen, Macari, Greenhoff, Coppell,… Those days we were overshadowed by them cunts of Loserfool with us winning the occasional FA Cups.

Most Orgasmic time supporting this team must be the last 5 mins of the 1999 final against Bayern Munich.

Supporting this team should come with a health warning given the numerous late goals that we score. Not for the faint hearted.
