Congrats to Wayne Rooney and Paul Scholes who came in 2nd and 3rd in voting for the
Football Writers’ Player of the Year awards. Robin van Persie was the deserved winning this year, but it is impressive that the writers filled out the podium with our lads. Paul should have been on the EPL XI as well, but ah well. Good on ya Paul. Good on ya Wayne.

HMmmmmm, seeing double this afternoon?!
Fletch – Hello mate. Sorry but have to disagree,. I think Rooney should have won it over RVP. No question Van Persies goals have kept Arsenal in the top 4 but Rooney’s are firing us towards number 20. His all round game is better and although RVP scored against the Chavs and the scouse Rooney has scored some BIG goals this season.
“Robin van Persie was the deserved winner” – not likely when WR10 has more goals per minute, has scored more overall (including intl appearances) in less games in the 11/12 season AND is going to pass him in league goals this Monday…

Come on lads. It’s OK for Red colored glasses, but honestly. We don’t have to be completely close minded. RvP has had a stand out year, he’s a decent enough guy by all accounts, and he has been Arsenals POTY by some margin. Wayne, by his own admission is not playing up to his own standard and says this everytime someone puts a microphone up to his face. There is some question that Wayne will be our own POTY in some people minds, so don’t slag the footy writers for sensing this as well.
If even the player himself isn’t impressed, give the press a bit of credit. Wayne would be my vote, as you say, but I can see that RvP has had a stand out year as well.
I am just impressed that Paul was recognized and should be. If he was playing from the start of the season, he could be the lad with all the prizes and deservedly so. Paul Scholes for me all the way, games won with him in the side says alot.
Congratulations to Nani & Daniela Martins on their engagement. Striking couple!
Without doubt, the player of the year has been Emanuel Eboue- he has done the most for Arsenal this season; but fucking off to Turkey.
Come back son! We need a pen! Love the bloke.
I wonder if the Hazard comments by SAF are a smokescreen to cover our true targets. We usually prefer to do our transfer business away from the spotlight.
It would be hazardous to put money on him making United his Eden.
You better believe it’s a smokescreen to cover up not our targets but our non purchase of midfielders yet again.
Now you see it, now you don’t?
See what?
I don’t think we will know much about transfers and kind of doubt anyone does. Bit of a piss take from the press putting out random bits of half truths.
If you like that kind of thing, then Click is speculating that we would bring back Pique…. Hmmm.
As with so many things. All will be revealed.
Best I stay out of the RvP debate!! ha frigging ha
Nothing to see here….
Never said the SonofCedars wasn’t having his best season but Wayne is having an equally and in some ways better one.
Pick your clique, Pique from Click pique any?
A site to behold!
Cedars, Cheers lad. I’ll be watching
Thanks to Tony for calling this to my attention, great history buff.

FletchTHEMAN – there is a quality copy of that video right here in this very forum!
Right, in terms of finishing from almost impossible angles or situations RvP is second to none in world football…..
Would I take him over Rooney? Of course NOT
Would I want him at United playing with Rooney? Fuck yes
Cedars, Seems Juve have put in a £25M bid for RvP. Seems a steal if that is true.
Maybe we will be in with a shout as well…..
Fletch
Read about that this morning mate….I very much doubt he will leave Arsenal and if he did then I cannot see him coming to United as much as the thought of him and Rooney upfront is mouth watering
Thought about it then decided to actually go out and watch the divers vs the renties…. The booze at the pub of course helped me make my decision….. Like King Eric a part of me wants the renties to go through just for the shear joy of seeing the look on the divers faces. As long as the renties lose in the final of course….
Cannot see it though not as long as Platini has anything to do with it
Don’t understand this wanting Chelsea to go through. Barcelona’s brilliant football was lauded at first but now they’ve dominated for so long people are starting to get a tad jelous no two ways about. Sure biscuits is a bloody cheat but baring that they don’t dive anymore than any other side. Chelsea played well 1st leg as well as being a tad lucky, can’t see their luck holding out tonight.
Joffrey Baratheon – Not so much a tad jealous but a tad bored. Its ok having 100 per cent possession but at the end of the day its puttting the ball in the onion bag that counts. I get sick of hearing about their possession football. They bore teams to death. Honestly I DO find it boring and have said so for years. I was at Wembley however and I do hold my hands up as THAT night they were on a different planet. That IMO was their peak. They are finding sides more stubborn now and save for Messi have nobody to put the ball in the net. I also find it fucking disrespectful to Milan of the late 80′s early 90;s. Juve from the mid nineties and United from circa 99 even 2007 or 94 that all the media say its the greatest side ever. I beg to differ. I think all of those aforementioned sides would have dispatched of them. Even Jose’s Chelsea or the 97 Arsenal side. Christ but for that horrendous night at the Bridge they would have the same European Cups as us since 07 but we have two more domestic titles if we win it this year and should have six on the spin. Do we get ANY credit? Do we fuck!
It’s laughable anybody thinks it is anything other than a severe leathering for Chelsea tonight.
It is over the top sometimes the praise barca receive and it’s hard to compare teams from different decades. I do think in some cases though people are jelous of them in the same way everyone in England is bitter about United’s success. If this was Spurs, Newcastle hell even Arsenal I would like to see them do barca but not Chelsea, I despise that club, very little to like about them, although I will be cheering them on against the vermin at wembley!
Good comment Joffrey Baratheon, although I personally feel no jealousy towards borecelona.
Nor pity.
Only contempt.
I despise chelsea, particularly terry and co, and even abramovic to some degree.
Joffrey, let me think. You were strong-willed as a child and have a defiant temper not unlike your mother’s and an unchecked fiendish streak. You have little sense of right or wrong, which often leads you to trouble. You have the Lannister look of your parents, are tall for a boy your age, with blond curly hair and handsome. You have bright green eyes, pouty lips and a devilish snarl. You always wear the finest clothing and speak as if you were the royal heir.
How did I do?
Why you are correct Albert Ross. Currently on the throne in kings landing dropping in on ROM with Ned Starks head for company. Wouldn’t mind adding John Terry’s head while i’m at it.
Anybody having problems getting Firefox to play Sky Go.I cant get the match .
Seven minutes and not a peep.Wont ask you sniffy cunts about anything again.
parryheid – there is a newer thread.
I’m using Safari, so I can’t advise you.
Albert Ross.
Education is a wonderful thing and I’ve just been educated.and don’t give two rows of sheep’s shite.
parryheid
Are you irritated that no one answered you?
It’s because no one was here, they were on the newer thread.
The shear cost of parallel lamb poo prohibits willy-nilly hand-outs, I can’t pull the wool there.
@ 19.32 parryheid
Spot on again.
Chelsea sure went hell-for-leather parry-me-old-chum!
I’m irritated about nothing, daft enough to think somebody would say this is the problem.Maybe they outplayed them ,cant dispute it as I saw fuckall of the game.
Everyone would have rated Barca better if their players were not such horrible actors. Yes they have been great, but in terms of play acting, I rank them amongst one of the worst offenders I have ever seen before in my life!
parryheid
It’s so frustrating that! I have intermittent internet issues, that often prevent my viewing, or interrupt it a few times in each half.
From what I saw (most of the game) it was the Alamo volume 2, except that the final whistle blew before the film ended.
Perhaps you were better off missing it, as it’s uncomfortable hating both teams.
Although you do get to cheer every error made on both sides, and all the cards!
Albert Ross.
So I’d be right in guessing Chelsea didn’t outclass/outplay them then.
parryheid – That is a 100% correct assessment.
Barca laid siege, with often as many as 6 players in-and-around the box. Through team work, chelsea plugged each gap as it was threatened, frustrating barca but inspiring no change from Pep. He believed in their way, or was too stubborn to try something different. I think the latter. Perhaps they don’t really have a plan B.
Chelsea rode their luck, with penalty misses and the woodwork playing a big role.
But any team with 10 men needs some luck.
To be fair to them, they showed great unity, spirit, determination and application.
They didn’t try to play, never mind outplay barca.
No way rentboy will win Jose’s team or home ground Munich, except they had extreme luck.
Did the cunt JT miss the final?
One plus point from that shit result last night.Newcastle can no longer aim for Fourth place to qualify for the Champions league. If my personal nightmare happens and Chelsea win it Newcastle need Third place and that means maximum effort in their remaining games, win win for us.as Newcastle must make sure.
