Keown says Rio shouldn’t go because he’s not ugly enough. :D

Never mind the other shit. COME ON REDS!

  2. Albert Ross says:

We can surely accept that legends are NOT chosen by individuals.
Discuss them, but NEVER slag them off.

Fan’s excuse their attacks on Legends by saying “he’s not my legend”
They are wrong. If you are a United supporter, Roy Keane is your Legend.
Whether you like it, or not.
    You don’t chose the Legends.

They are created through time, and require no specific individual’s approval.
They may be discussed, but not slandered viciously.

Some fan’s feel entitled by circumstance to slag Legends.
Maybe their auntie was killed in a kung-fu attack.
That should entitle them to attack Eric on RoM.
    Not!

Yay! I’m glad we all agree! Discussing without slagging, not too difficult for us.

  3. Gorse Hill Red says:

Very good article by Rednews but I guess everything is good in hindsight. If Smalling had better handled the corner we may be talking about the genius of Fergie right now.

Anyway all will be fine, apparently we are buying Japans best player so the likes of Barce, Madrid and The Bitters will be shitting thenselves next season.

    Sorry for the sarcasim.

  4. Albert Ross says:

It is of interest that the first article (10 hrs earlier) to report Roy Keane’s interview stated:

“When you’re associated with the club you still have loyalty to the club and want them to do well,” Roy said, adding that he was unlikely to meet up with Ferguson in the near future.

“I wouldn’t have thought so, he’s a busy man, he’s not out walking his dog on Saturday afternoons like me,”

This of course is not juicy enough to attract the rabid hordes looking to attack United Legends.
So, the context is changed, and articles are headlined:
“Roy Keane renews attack on Manchester United and rules out hopes of reconciliation with Sir Alex Ferguson.” and introduced with “Roy Keane admits he is unlikely to repair his broken relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson unless he bumps into the Manchester United manager while ‘walking his dog’”

A total distortion aimed at you.

Don’t fall for their ABU journalism, designed to increase readership by provoking emotional outbursts and lively debate. They happily turn us against our Legends and against each other, knowing that that the hits they get translate directly into advertising revenue.

  5. Jeet says:

I noticed that too – that article is a shameless exaggeration. As the comment below the article says, “If that constitutes an attack, then I’m afraid Keano’s losing his touch” :)

  6. Albert Ross says:

    Jeet – Brilliant!

I’m sure he has a little more in his locker than that!

  7. eric keane says:

That’s a total farce of an article on keano!
The man’s a nutjob! But he’s our nutjob.! And that’s not even remotely an attack. Keano’s many things. He’s not a pussy.

  8. Albert Ross says:

    eric keane – Well said!

  9. Trydent says:

People that write crap like that are scum with a pencil! Albert a totally accurate summation.

  10. Norm187 says:

like albert says , they do a purposely provocative headline that bears no relation what-so-ever to the actual quotes just to get hits on their shitty storys, they then go to their editor showing how many hits they’ve got, which justifies the blatant lies & do it all again the next day.

tbf every time i’ve seen them do the same with the scousers this season i’ve had a look to revel in their misery i just cant help myself, it must be the same with all the ABU’s

  11. iced earth says:

    good morning red devils
what s wrong with kean?maybe he want a role at united and he is angry that sir alex don t give him this role
    off topic
James Rodriguez:“I am only focused on Porto at the moment but I could not reject to play for Manchester United. It would please me.“  He told Colombian publication Nuevo Estadio.

  12. Albert Ross says:

    Trydent – good day!

The sad part is that their self-serving distortions leave a scar on those that fall for their trick.
Many of those that fall are unsuspecting Reds, forever tainted against Roy.

Also sad, is that others with a personal agenda take the heaven-sent opportunity to join a baying mob, and add any fuel they can think of. This is a cowardly act.

Fortunately, level-headed Reds that love our Club can and do douse those burning ambitions.

  13. koolburn says:

“I have only seen United live four or five times this year – City the other night, in Basel and in Benfica and I have not seen them win yet. They lost at Liverpool in the FA Cup as well.”

“You always remember the great sign of United that I played for and watched was that they won a lot of big games. They just seem to be on the losing side of these tight games at the moment. The other night [against City], you were waiting for them to have a late onslaught. It never came.”

We kept bottling when it mattered, well said Keane.

  14. Trydent says:

I can certainly think of a better use for the pencil! There are many that are in dire need of an insertion-sideways.Probably the closest thing to a back bone for most of them.

  15. kanchelskis says:

    @koolburn

I was thinking that myself after the City game. What big, important, difficult games have we actually won this season?

Games against Arsenal? The first they had a joke team out and the second they were still at a pretty low ebb.

Games against Chelsea? Were in v poor form for both games.

FA Cup against City? It was 3rd round so wasn’t exactly the biggest game of the season. Plus they had 10 men for most of the match and we nearly ballsed it up.

I think we can say that there are no big, important, difficult games that we’ve actually won this season. That’s worrying.

  16. kanchelskis says:

    @iced earth

That pic makes it look likes he has one arm on backwards.

  17. Albert Ross says:

Get your frozen links right here! Ice-cold links on-a-stick!

Roll up! Roll up! Enough for everyone!

Ever-fresh ever-icy cold-links to quench that thirst right here!

Just kidding around, Iced Earth! This is exactly the right thread to post interesting links.
    Thanks for your efforts.

  18. Albert Ross says:

    Trydent

Carbon-dating done on the replaced pencils reveals that most of the vessels are in their teens.

  19. Albert Ross says:

kanchelskis – that arm could get him into trouble for grabbing a player’s shirt, his own!

  20. Costas says:

We just have to accept that Keane is one United legend that will have his controversial view on things. I don’t mind him speaking from the heart. My main issue with his comment is that they are not excatly based on fact. He’s watched just 5 United games this season and they happened to be losses. That doesn’t mean that United have forgotten how to win the big games though. We won plenty of them this season. Nonetheless, he’s right about UNited every now and then needing the big hitter when they are buying players.

  21. United Till I Die says:

Keane is right about our current performances in must win games, but come on. How many Clubs can lose three midfielders all season and not suffer any drop in quality? Fletcher was the box to boxer we’ve been missing as he was class, and im sure even Keane would admit his absence is a huge blow. Anderson starts when fit as he’s the most direct mid we have like it or not, problem is he’s never bloody fit and thats cost us this season. Cleverley should’ve played loads of games as well, but he’s also been very unlucky and we’ve missed his creativity as a result.

This isn’t making excuses mind you, and obviously Keane & Co can’t be seen to be making excuses either, but truth be told if we had ONE of those midfielders fit all season we wouldn’t be 2nd on goal difference imo. More to the point take away Barry, Milner and De Jong for the whole season – do you think City would be tied in top spot? Yeah, course they would.

  22. Mikekelly12 says:

    UTID
Exactly right. And we had Carrick holding the fort with two OAP’s!! ; ).

  23. Norman-85 says:

So is Shinji going ot be the long term replacement for Gingie?

  24. Collyhurst Red says:

Slightly off topic but next seasons season ticket prices have been held, well at least my £950 ones are anyway!

Was hoping for a reduction :-)

  25. koolburn says:

Funny, I remembered a fan being interviewed on derby match day and he was hoping that the better team doesn’t win, the current team doesn’t instil the belief that we can win the big games.. that’s the sentiment shared by many fans i know too. Our last BIG HITTER was berbatov and before that rooney… that’s way too long for a top team challenging honors on all front.

  26. Mikekelly12 says:

    Collyhurst Red
Haha.. You wish!! Where you sat pal. They look like juicy seets. I’ve applied gor the singing section. Said I’d hear back this month!

  27. iced earth says:

“I’d never write them off. United are still the best club, still have the best manager and the best supporters,”
“I was pretty upset the other night when they got beaten and I don’t like feeling that way because you have to try to move on. “But I still have loyalty to United, no matter what way I finished with the club, or whatever my relationship with the manager might be.”roy keane

  28. Gerriered says:

Hi guys Ilike the way some of us put things into perspective. I mean, what is this business of blaming the manager each time we loose, even if it is obvious a player screwed up.Anyway check this out, someone referring to us as a German club @ http://www.esmadrid.com/en/events-calendar

  29. King Eric says:

Collyhurst 950 sheets? Fuck me pal, where do you sit? My North Stand Tier two are ONLY 817 quid.

  30. CedarsDevil says:

Keane openly slated his team mates whilst he was still at United……..He had clear digs on TV at players like Fletcher, O’Shea etc, saying they were not good enough…..An action which spelled the beginning of the end of his time at the club…. Since leaving he has had direct attacks at Sir Alex and various other things related to United……

I will not call him names but to me he means nothing, I have zero respect for him and if I ever met him I would not even spare a breath to greet him.

  31. 80085 says:

    keowns a cock

  32. Collyhurst Red says:

    KingEric

N2404 just below the boxes, and I’ve got 2 to pay for as well!

    Never get rained on though!
Some things just have to be done.

    :-)

  33. Albert Ross says:

It is sad if anyone with a personal agenda takes this opportunity to join those stirred by false journalism, and add any fuel they can think of to the burning of our Legend.

    Sad and unnecessary.

There is no need to diminish other Red’s view of Roy Keane.

  34. Collyhurst Red says:

    MikeKelly12

    N2404, Row 27.
Great view, just the right height and distance.
In line with the 18 yard line at the scoreboard end (fuck this East Stand malarky!).

Just wish we’d score more at this end but can’t complain.
I’m sure Costas will be able to give us the stats on which end sees the most goals!

    :-)

  35. Collyhurst Red says:

    * North Stand towards the scoreboard end, not in the scoreboard end

  36. Norman-85 says:

If there was ever a player who epitomised United over the last few decades it was Keano.
There are two players that I have seen in my lifetime who could single-handed drag the team through a game, Robbo was one, Keano was the other – was is and always will be a legend. Oh yeah, and our most successful captain ever.

  37. CedarsDevil says:

    Albert Ross

Be clear and address me pal. Nothing about how I feel about Keane is sad nor is it in my view unnecessary. Furthermore I am not diminishing how others feel about him, each to their own.

He means nothing whatsoever to me, zero.. Furthermore I do not have personal agendas as you call them, I simply say it how I see it

  38. Collyhurst Red says:

Wouldn’t surprise me to see Kofi Annan posting on here in a bit.

    :-)

  39. Norman-85 says:

Kofi Annan? – didn’t he play for Juventus ;-)

  40. CedarsDevil says:

Kofi Annan? Thought he sat at the East Stand no?

  41. Albert Ross says:

    CedarsDevil

    I am very clear.

My post was addressed at the forum, not you.

It is sad and unnecessary to diminish other Red’s view of Roy Keane.

You have often shown anger and hurt when Legends or players have been trampled on RoM.
Do you not see that your trampling is not excused by your view?

  42. Collyhurst Red says:

Mind you with Kofi’s recent record in Syria he’d have no chance on here!

  43. CedarsDevil says:

Kofi and Pan not doing so well I’m afraid

  44. Collyhurst Red says:

    Anyway back to the football………………………

Wondering whether to dig out an old shirt for Sunday, thinking of the Sharp one with the watermark of the stadium on it, really like that one.

Mind you, I could dig out the grey away shirt so no-one can see me!

My quota is up at work now so I’ll be off now. No fighting whilst I’m out of the room!

    :-)

  45. CedarsDevil says:

Damn I love that Sharp shirt, still have mine in crisp condition

  46. Albert Ross says:

Earlier this morning the misleading article on Roy was linked on another thread.
This resulted in a top Red attacking Roy on the forum.
This immediately led to another top Red expressing agreement, for other reasons.

    I then complained.
This led to another top Red attacking Roy Keane, also for his own reasons.

Today’s attacks on Roy were contrived by the ABU, and swelled by opportunists.

I class all 3 of those Reds as top Reds, way above any station I might hope to hold.
    That is not relevant.

Had it been any other Red, it would not change the sad truth that the ABU ploy worked.

I stand up to be counted. I am against the slandering of United Legends.

Why not discuss them with accuracy AND respect?
Why not respect my love for our Legends?

It is sad and unnecessary to diminish other Red’s view of Roy Keane.

  47. Mikekelly12 says:

I like the black view can shirt!

  48. kanchelskis says:

    @Albert Ross

Give people some credit … I’m sure posters can form their own opinions on these matters. Should nobody voice any opinions, just in case they’re accused of some kind of propaganda campaign?

  49. Norman-85 says:

That’s the beauty of this type of forum, people can voice their opinions – but others also have the right to refute those opinions – it’s what makes our club and supporters so great.

Favourite shirt – 1977 Jubilee Cup Final (made by Admiral)

(From the ‘modern’ era – 2008 Home shirt or, in agreement with Mikekelly12, the Black Sharp Viewcam shirt from 1993/94 – first all black team kit in English football history)

  50. Albert Ross says:

kanchelskis – of course not! As you well know.

I clearly said “Why not discuss them with accuracy AND respect?”

And, why chose the moment when deceived Reds are expressing their discontent initiated by a deliberately misleading article? That is a time to show restraint, not the time to take advantage of the baying mob’s agenda being in alignment with your own.

  51. iced earth says:

    Albert Ross
roy keane is a true united legand but his comments are controversial
his differences with Sir Alex make him exagger somtimes but that s keano way
we must respect him and no need to abuse anyone for a view

  52. Albert Ross says:

iced earth – I agree that there is no need to abuse Roy for his views.

  53. Albert Ross says:

CedarsDevil – excuse me for a moment, sir.

You directed me to address you should I wish to talk to you.

I have done so, and eagerly await your earnest reply.

You have often shown anger and hurt when Legends or players have been trampled by posters on RoM.
Is their trampling excused by their view? Do you not see that your trampling is not excused by your view?

    Thanks pal.

  54. Collyhurst Red says:

My shirt from 1977 won’t fit me any more!

  55. Norman-85 says:

Ha Ha Collyhurst Red – neither does mine, but still my favourite – mind you, it was a tight fit back then.

  56. Norman-85 says:

And I think it was made from polystyrene or some other highly flammable material, itched like hell, but worn with pride.

  57. iced earth says:

rasictpool15 (seven FA Cup, eight League Cup), level with Manchester United (11 FA Cup, four League Cup) in domestic cup win in england, shit match  this Saturday but i prefer chelsea to win

  58. Red Tash says:

Allow me to wade into this discussion on here. Thanks everyone.
I’m of the opinion that much as Keano was a legend(and forever will be) he holds no right to slate any of our players, the club or worse still the gaffer. We’ve had far too many legends who left the theatre of dreams but still support the team. Those who dont obviously dont go about expressing there opinions in public. If Keano really cared for the lads and is not bitter about his acrimonious departure,he could have easily made his way into Carrington and have a word with the lads.Thats the least i would expect of him anyway.People on here should realise that his way of expressing opinions is to the detriment of the club. The ABU’s love it when he throws a spanner in the works.
As a senior and a househol;d name at Old Trafford no one including the gaffer would deny him a chance to talk to the inexperienced players.Him being a legend,i think it all has to do with leading from the front like he did in Turin.
As Giggs 12 pointed out in another thread Keane should realise that its United who made him and not the other way round.Just my 2 cents anyway.

  59. Albert Ross says:

Here are the 5 shirts that hang at the back of your cupboard:
    http://redflagflyinghigh.com/2012/02/blogs/pictures-top-five-worst-manchester-kits-of-the-fergie-era

The 1990-92 away kit is surely the worst.

  60. Mikekelly12 says:

    Norman
Was that the White one with black stripes?

  61. Albert Ross says:

Red Tash – very fair views, and well presented.

Roy holds no right to slate any of our players, the club or worse still the gaffer.
The same surely applies to us? Perhaps to a lesser degree.

  62. Norman-85 says:

@Mikekelly 12 – the white one with the three black stripes was the away kit in the late 70′s, I was referring to the red home kit with the red/white striped collar and cuffs

  63. Red Tash says:

Cedars has not abused Roy.He was merely selling his side of the story, blatantly expressing his views.I dont understand how saying Keano means zero to someone can be construed as abuse.I’m apalled to be honest.
As much as Roy seems to divide opinion on here,i dont think there is any compelling reason for us to take leave of our senses.
    One Love One United folks.

  64. kanchelskis says:

    @iced earth

Chelsea any day mate. Hate ‘em, but kind of got used to them dominating the FA Cup now. Plus they’re miles behind in terms of total domestic trophies so no need to worry about that.

The only silver lining of a Liverpool win would be buying Kenny more time to fuck the club over as much as he can before the owners finally lose their patience and get rid.

  65. Albert Ross says:

It might also be argued (not by me) that if anyone does hold the right to accurately express their honest views, it is the likes of Robbo, Keano, etc.

  66. Norman-85 says:

    @Albert Ross 14:49 – that’s another misleading article – I can only see 4 kits there ;-)

  67. wayne says:

Keane is a legend on the field no doubt about it,towards the end of his career and after he left has disparished players and manager.
I’ll always love Keane as a player but no one can argue he’s become bitter towards Sir Alex and became mercenary in his final contract negotiations. He hasn’t shown loyalty towards the club which is going to taint some Reds opinion of him including myself.
Has to be a seperation but if he wants to take shots then deserves what he gets.

  68. Albert Ross says:

    Red Tash

CedarsDevil, our top Red friend, reserved the right to slag him off.
It is that “right” that Cedars and I have been discussing since an earlier thread.
I’m not sure that anyone has taken leave of their senses, I do agree with One Love One United.
I’d like to include our Legends in that.

Also, ” I have zero respect for him and if I ever met him I would not even spare a breath to greet him.” is hardly supportive at a time when Roy is being dishonestly labelled by the press.

  69. Albert Ross says:

Norman-85 – damn! Another ploy foiled by the eagle-eyed anti-ABU brigade!

  70. Red Tash says:

In such a defining moment of the season,i still believe that we have a sniff at winning the league.Nothing is decided yet untill results of the last game make a confirmation. So it is in bad taste when we divert from supporting the lads and revert to a mud slinging contest.
A great horse does not require a great jockey.Sir Alex will rise again to turn all the doubters into believers.
“We always knew we would get stick, even from those that we thought were on our side”The great footie knight!!

  71. Norman-85 says:

I guess that we are all lucky in a way that Keano chose United over Blackburn in 1993 -not just for the contribution he made to our club, but could you imagine the slagging that he would have about the Blackburn players over the years – he’d be ranting like a teapot every day for years :-) .
Keano: “Stuart Ripley?, let me tell you about Stuart Ripley…(2 hours later)…… and don’t even get me started on Lars Bohinen” and so on….forever

  72. Red Tash says:

    Albert Ross
I get your drift mate.Im all for accepting divergent views which means we will always remain a united United.Anything else will leave us in tatters thereby giving the ABU’s plenty of ammo.Common lads lets put this Keano fairytale to bed.Thanks.

  73. Albert Ross says:

    wayne – fair enough mate.

Even though I don’t like it, I can’t argue with the view that “if he wants to take shots then deserves what he gets” I’d like to shoot it down, but the truth is that I understand the reap-what-you-sow phenomenon.

I guess it also applies to those who expressed the views that Roy is reaping.
They too reap according to their choice of seed to broadcast.

There is also the Unity of a Club to consider.
By Roy yes, but also by those who react divisively and angrily.

By-and-large the criticism’s of Roy are balanced and not abusive. This is good.

  74. Albert Ross says:

    Red Tash – goodnight!

  75. Irvin G. Morton says:

i suggest Sir Alex Ferguson to start Hernandez,Rooney and welbeck in front please bench nani he is bad shape

  76. Norman-85 says:

One more kit of note (for me) – the 1999 Champions League home shirt with the luminous (reflective) badge.

  77. Red Tash says:

Thanks for that Wayne.Keep it real and objective(as always)

  78. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

    Afternoon all,

It would seem i started a bit of a stir calling a United legend a cunt.

I am sorry but unless the bitter cunt shows some respect to Fergie, the player, and the fans then I wont be civil about him.

For the record Roy Keane was my favourate all time United player, i loved him, he stood for everything United was and is during his time.

That love died when he thought he was better than anyone at the club, abusing professionals like Darren Fletcher on live TV.

Fergie did right packnig his bags and unless he shows United the respect it deserves for making Roy Keane the player he is then he will just ruin his own legacy.

His sniping at the players and the club is a fucking disgrace and that is why i think he is a cunt, and I wont be told by anyone what I can and cant say!

  79. Albert Ross says:

I will be much happier if Rio is able to extend his United career by resigning from England.

I will feel guilty for that, as I feel that I am being selfish by putting my dreams before Rio’s.
I will argue with myself, saying that I am putting United first, but this will not be true.

Rio is very much part of United. His dreams, and those of every player, are critically interwoven through the team and the Club. May their dreams be realised.

  80. Norman-85 says:

Interesting fact on the 1999 Champions League home shirt – despite this being the year that Manchester United dropped the ‘Football Club’ from the club crest, the Champions League home shirt still carried the ‘old’ crest on it – maybe that’s why ‘Solskjaer has won it!”

  81. CedarsDevil says:

    Albert Ross

Just to be clear my friend, my opinion on Keane was not formed this morning, it was neither a reaction to a latest news article nor was it a follow through on what a couple of posters said about him. I have had strong feeling against Roy since his public attack on his team mates and subsequent attacks on Sir Alex and the club.

My views on him will never change, I do not respect him, end of. I do not in anyway wish to force my opinions on anyone nor will I be affected by what others think of him.

  82. denton davey says:

    http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/football/premier-league/transfer-rumours/120503/manchester-united-set-wrap-deal-japanese-playmaker-171217

Shinji Kagawa would be a better addition to the squad than Gaitan or Eriksen or even Munian (although not as good as his team-mate, Mario Goetze). BUT adding him to the squad does nothing to address the massive hole in midfield left by the injuries to Owen Hargreaves and DarrenFletcherinho’s illness.

On a completely different topic: I asked yesterday if anyone could see SAF recalling Dimmy from the wilderness to which he has been consigned but – surprise ! – I only got one response.

It seems to me that if – somehow – Newcastle can get something from ManShitty then the Sunday late-match against Swansea is going to be a very much “downhill” affair with UTD pressurizing from the get-go.

If that’s the case – and with DannyTheLad out because of Nigel De Jong’s “tackle” – then it’s likely that guile rather than speed is going to be required to work in the Swansea penalty box. It’s a perfect scenario for Dimmy to return, grab glory, and give a hearty “fuck you” to all those BerbaHaters and BerbaSceptics (ahem !).

  83. Red Tash says:

And rightly so Giggs12.Its only women who go bitching about after a break up with their loved ones.Keane is not covering himself in any glory with his onslaught on the gaffer which is akin to a jilted lover.I believe Fergie knows whats best for the club and so we all move on.
    Shall we???

  84. Norman-85 says:

Given the whole debate about slagging the manager/players/club off, how do people feel about Paul McGrath? When he left United he went very public with a rant on the manager and club, but he is considered to this day to be a Red Legend.

  85. Albert Ross says:

    Giggs12Gerrard0 – good day sir!

To be fair then, your sniping at the players and the club is a fucking disgrace, and I wont be told by anyone what I can and cant say. Works both ways, surely?

I appreciate guidance, however. Especially from fellow Reds that are being hurt perhaps unwittingly by me. I would try to understand the view that calling Eric Cantona a fucking cunt on RoM is not okay, even if I know he is.

I certainly would not launch any attack that coincides with ABU propaganda.

It is unfortunate that you diminish other Red’s view of Roy Keane.
I know that I don’t like it. Do you care? I think you should.

Here’s a question for all you regulars. I know Citeh are top on goal difference and its in their hands but put yourselves in the shoes, whos position would u rather be in. Would u rather be top on goal difference but still need to go to the geordies or rather be where we are and not have to go to the geordies, considering the way they turned us over at their place. They must be a little bit wary about the trip up there considering their away record isnt amazing and they diddnt play that well against us.

  87. kanchelskis says:

    @ralph milnes

It’s not as simple as that though, is it? If we’d been on City’s recent run of form, just coming off the back of a win against rivals/title challengers, yes, I’d rather be in their position.

If it was them on the run of 4 pts from 4 games and we’d arrived at this point, then I might prefer them in the current position to us.

  88. Tanzania is united says:

Roy Keane is my legend no matter what

  89. Albert Ross says:

Thanks CedarsDevil! I am sure you would prefer it had your respect for Roy not been destroyed by the various events you describe. I thank you for not wanting to force these revised opinions of Roy on anyone.

I do wonder to myself, once the slippery path of taking away love starts, where it will end?

I suppose that we can say that we are merely reacting to what is served up.

It does however enormously reduce the value of any other existing ‘undying’ love.

  92. Albert Ross says:

Norman-85 – very good point about Paul McGrath.

The apparent difference is that today, Roy’s words are disseminated, reconstructed, and broadcast in hours to (hundreds of) millions of Reds. People all over the world that have been indoctrinated since birth to react emotionally to frivolous reports of scandalous behavior.

Love turns to hatred in hours.

In Paul’s day, most global fans only found out a week later in the Sunday papers. Emotions running at a fever pitch do not generate mass hysteria when they are so staggered, isolated and unconnected.

  93. mancdub says:

    Cedars
How’s it going mate. I do know exactly what you mean but Roy Keane is a United legend.
IMO he and Bryan Robson are the two best midfielders during my time as a United fan.
He is always going to say what he thinks. We can disagree with what he says but that shouldn’t tarnish his status as a legend.
It’s like when Mark Hughs was city manager. A very bitter city manager at that. I remember thinking ” what’s up Sparky?
Chill the fuck out man”. It was very hard to like him at the time. But he still remains one of my all time favourite players.
I choose to remember and respect them as players. Fuck what happened later. It’s easier that way.

  94. CedarsDevil says:

Just out of curiosity, who will be watching the Newcastle match this Sunday? I will personally avoid seeing it mainly due to the fact that for every title race I could remember, whenever I watch our rivals they win!!

Regardless of the outcome I will of course watch the lads and scream and sing my heart out

  95. ralph milnes left foot says:

kanchelsksis your answer makes no sense i dont understand what your saying. I dont expect citeh to win at the geordies, yeah they beat us the other night but that was more us giving it away with that stupid playing for a draw thing. When they were 8 points behind they had no hope of catching us so they were playing for fun, now they are back top lets see how they handle the pressure.

  96. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

I wont bang on about this mate, it has nothing to do mwith media and journo’s its Keano himself on live interviews. There is nothing misconstructed about that, but we move on my point is made Love has not turned to hatred. My wife doesnt hate me but I can alos be a cunt.

The love for Keano is still there mate but he can be a right bitter cunt, its not as black and white as you like to put it.

Enough said on the matter for me.

  97. kanchelskis says:

    @ralph milnes left foot

MY point is you can’t take ‘the status quo’ in isolation. We’ve got 4 points from 4 games. If we had to go to SJP now, I wouldn’t have a great deal of confidence in us.

City have 12 points from 4 games. If we had to go to SJP with THAT form, I’d have a lot more confidence.

  98. Mikekelly12 says:

    Afternoon Emmers GeeErs.
    Ralphy Milne
I had a think about that. I agree with Kanchelskis – if we were on the run city have had id be confident as hell going to Newcastle. The other thing I thought was had we beaten Everton then got beat by city, we may have gon into swansea and Sunderland with a false sense of security with those 2 points. But HAVING to win each of our remaining games may just re-focus us. Similarly, had city been chasing 2 points they may have continued to play care free where as now I’m hoping they will feel a degree of pressure.

  99. ralph milnes left foot says:

i def wont be watching citeh im with you if i watch it they will be 2-0 up within 5 mins, i turned on the citeh norwich game a few weeks back when norwich got 1 back and they then scored within a minute of me turning over so illcheck the score at the end

Hi mate, never argued for one minute Keano’s legendary status at the club nor what he achieved for us as a player………Its his post United era that has shown nothing but bitterness towards United and its management that irritates me.

Anyway, like Giggs12 said I would also like to put this matter to bed and move on

  101. Mikekelly12 says:

I phoned United today to speak to them about my season ticket. The guy said he’d been getting bogus calls from bitters all day. Most asking for two seats because they wanted Kompany!! On the 3rd call he said “certainly sir, i’ve secured 2 seats for you, you’ll be sat next to Pappi Cisse!! He also said he’d had a long chat with a 70yr old season ticket holder who was adamant Newcastle would get at least a draw!

  102. ralph milnes left foot says:

your prob right but ive had a feeling about this geordie game for a while, i had the same feeling when citeh went to swansea and arsenal. I also had a feeling about wigan v chelsea a few seasons back when we needed wigan to get a draw and they lost 8-0.

Will you perhaps care when another poster is telling his harsh version of the truth, and it destroys Reds view of your still-loved Legend? That is an unfair question, for obviously no one wants their Legend trampled.

The most revealing part of your comments on this topic today is the one part that I like.
“Sorry mate but no I dont care if im honest, i wish I did”

It tells me how deeply you are hurt, and that there is good cause for your rancour.
It tells me that you do wish that you still loved (the bastard!)

I now offer an irrelevant and unfair analogy, hoping that in some way it reflects my difficulty in understanding or accepting the abuse being bandied about Roy:

I am carried across the Sahara by my uncle, Roy Keane. It is an arduous journey.
When we reach fertile land, our family await to greet us.
Roy being Roy, berates our family, and storms off.

Is my view of him affected? Yes.
Will I be abusing Roy to the family? No.

  114. Mikekelly12 says:

    Chuffer
8-0 hahaha. We’d need an arsenal esque performance with better defending. Hope springs eternal!

  115. United Till I Die says:

Well one thing I admire about Keane is he’s not out to be anybodies friend, and he’s always served that purpose. As Captain he had a job to do and no Red can deny he did it – even if it involved the odd argument or red card. Some may not like what he says these days but nobody can suddenly deny him an opinion on his old Club. Its not as if Ferguson can’t defend himself (ha) and I’d have thought it was a redeeming trait to be unconditionally honest in the field of journalism anyway? Moreover our lads shouldn’t crumble under a critical interview or article, even if the critic is a living legend. Fletcher didn’t wilt under Keane’s pressure and I’d expect the same bottle from any player who wants to wear our shirt. I think Roy serves a brilliant purpose as a pundit, as who else is in a position to speak on United authoritatively without giving a fuck what you or I or the Club think? Should we leave that to Alan Hansen then? If I must hear ugly truths or even views I don’t agree with I’d much rather hear it from my own than anybody else. Keane has an ugly but necessary role to play, and he’s built for it.

  116. Albert Ross says:

Kofi Annan , didn’t he play defensive with walid jumblat?.

  118. Costas says:

You know, Denton makes a very good point about the Kagawa signing. One thing that worries me is his role. Attacking midfielder. What does that mean? He will play in a 2 man midfield? How does that help us defend better? Does he plays in a 3 man midfield? What does it mean for Rooney, Danny and Javier?

We are fine attacking wise. The biggest gap that Fergie hasn’t been able to fill in the last 4 years is that of a box to box midfielder.

    @Denton

I was really surprised you got one response. Which means one of two things. 1) No one else things Berba should play tomorrow. 2) Nobody else reads your comments.

    I kid.

  119. Albert Ross says:

Sir Alex said: “We’ll be aware of the game going on before ours (barcodes v city) – you can’t avoid it. We still have to prepare for our game, though – we won’t neglect our preparation. But if City were to win by 3-0, say, the goal difference would be 11. It would be impossible for us then, I think.”

It tells me that if city only win by 1 goal, we’ll still be trying to overtake them on goal-difference.
    This I wanted to hear.

  120. Cyril Sneer says:

I thought Roy Keane spoke a lot of sense in that article, especially his comment that the players should always have “something to prove every time they put on the shirt”. For me, signing for United shouldn’t be like getting a job with the council. It’s not a ticket to a decent regular pay packet for minimal effort. It should be great rewards but very hard work.

Obviously we all have our somewhat idealised version of how players, staff and fans should behave when they are associated with the club, so mine might not match with yours. For example, a lot of us look down on players who we suspect are at their clubs for the money and don’t respect the history etc while others would be more than happy to accept a few ‘mercenaries’ if it meant more silverware.

Roy has, on occasion, sounded a little bitter but we all have our pride. Our manager isn’t exactly a ‘kindly old man’ who doesn’t want to upset anyone. He’s can be just as agressive, prideful and forceful as Roy Keane. Sometimes that’s a bad thing but for me it’s what made the pair of them a great team for so many years and brought so much success to our club.

Roy Keane might act like a cunt sometimes but I reckon he’s been in football long enough to know a few things and he did enough for Manchester United for me to cut him some slack, especially when he has to be in the same room as the likes of Andy Townsend.

Besides, no matter how much of a cunt Roy might be at times, he is nowhere near the level of John Terry. Jus’ sayin’…

  121. United Till I Die says:

Mikekelly12 – Carrick has been our midfield care home manager all season, bless his cotton socks, and he’s no spring chicken himself. Still can’t believe Scholes has played more games than Ando or Tom this season… WTF?

  122. Albert Ross says:

No one is sure if Dimi is still at the club.

I admit, I still hold out hope that he will remain at United.

  123. iced earth says:

According to reports Manchester United are set to land Irish prospect Noe Baba. The Connaught Telegraph claims United are hoping to tie up a deal for the Castlebar Celtic youngsterThe Republic of Ireland Under-16 international has been on trial with United in the past and now looks set to make the move to Old Trafford.
    bebe baba who s next?

  124. Costas says:

Just a thing about the Keane topic guys. Do we want an ex red that (as bitter as he may be) calls things as he sees them? Or do we want someone that may sugarcoat some issues just so he doesn’t cause any turmoil between him and the club or between him and Fergie? There are former players that will defend the team or the manager’s options even after a really bad result. I happened to notice this last week. Don’t know about the others, but I prefer the Keane type. As long as their critisism is constructive of course.

  125. United Till I Die says:

    Albert Ross – ha!

  126. Mikekelly12 says:

    Costas
I’d wait until he’s signed to worry about that. The Bild, which has direct access to Kagawa and Dortmund interviewed him yesterday and he says he has yet to make a decision on his future. In terms of signings I’d like a Kagawa and a Martinez, not too much to ask is it Sir Alex?

  127. United Till I Die says:

    @Ice – my money’s on BOBO

BTW Old man Keane was right to highlight Phil Jones (no pun) – I don’t care how many times Fergie says he’ll be future England Captain that lad needs to prove himself every time he dons the United shirt, all our players do. I love Red Nev on Sky but would he drag Jones crashing back to earth in public like that? Probably not but thats exactly what was needed, as not even Wayne Rooney can say he has “nothing to prove” – Yes you do sunshine, every single bloody game, or whats the point!? As a Club we need somebody to say unpopular things at times and Keane is that person, so its just as well he doesn’t give a monkeys who thinks what. Long may that continue imo, even when I disagree with his tact, views or timing.

  132. jeet says:

I don’t expect Berba to play. With Fergie, if you are out, you are out. Makes me tear out my hair, more so over the last 3 seasons, but that’s also been a huge factor towards our success under him.

Yeah mate. Obviously it’s wait and see. But between the Gaitan, Hazard and Kagawa rumors, I am sensind a knack for attacking minded players, when we should be addressing problems in other areas of the pitch. Unless this is all the media’s making and we are not interested in any of these guys.

    @mancdub

Ha, fair point. It’s hard to disagree with Paddy’s style!

  139. WillieRedNut says:

What has this mad loving Roy Keane fan missed? ;) I still admire the man, crazy bastard, he is!

Cedars – From the other thread? I don’t really care what your feelings are on Keano. Nor do I want anyone to not have an opinion on him. I just think sometimes, there’s a few all too eager to bash the man. One thing I don’t buy, is this hurt some feel at Roy’s comments. We’re grown men on here ffs. Apart from boogeyman lol. Keano’s frustrations with United do stem from his dramatic departure from United. He does cut a bitter man on occasions. And his comments can sting like a mofo. I don’t agree with Wayne on him being a mercenary. He loves this club, but that won’t ever stop him voicing an opinion. I don’t want you to hold back on anything concerning Keane, or United, on my behalf. Saying whats on your mind is what we’re all here for. Maybe I’m a dick for defending him. He doesn’t help himself at times. Anyway, he won’t change, so we’ll all be back here next season saying the same things! Football legends, bloody hell! :P

  140. Albert Ross says:

Maybe I’m missing a big point.

  144. Sparkz says:

I would say our performances in Cup games hasn’t been the best. But League wise, take out the 2 games against City, we’ve done well.

Beat Arsenal home and away. Beat Spurs home and away. Took 4 points off Chelsea (battered them in the 3-3 IMO). 4 points from Liverpool.

Let’s not forget that when we had the tough 6 game run from late January to early March (Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and Norwich away….Liverpool and Stoke at home)….nobody expected us to produce the goods as well as we did. 16 points out of 18!

  145. CedarsDevil says:

    Willie

Of course not you big softy!! If we all agreed on everything than what’s the point of this place?

Now lets all get pissed and dream of what could be on Sunday!

  151. Alking says:

Keane is a legend and has never been discrete so why should he change now. We loved his fire back then and now that he is lighting it on our behinds we despise it…he says it as he sees it. Phil Jones has really been a disappointment to me but Fergie is also culpable for that i.e. constant talks of future captain, etc. he’s proven nothing and personally i think someone play the devil’s advocacy on him (criticise him openely). I love Kagawa and Goetze is not better than him. Giroud and Belhanda?cheer

  152. Alking says:

We will win the league….just believe. I was so grieved and embittered when i saw Mancini having the impudence to stand up to Fergie.smh. cant blame him though, Fergie’s decision not to strenghten certain areas set everything in motion for this travesty to happen. wished Keano was on the pitch then cos Giggs was an epic fail of the invisible man, lol. not something i fancy seeing again.

  153. Haiku says:

    I agree with Albert Ross.

In this interview with Keane towards the end …

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znUPobgoI0U

… when asked about United Roy just said “City may be in the driving seat just now but to me United are still the best team on the planet with the best support and the best manager.”

    So there!

But maybe that doesn’t make sexy enough headlines for the media?

Personally I would LOVE Fergie and Keane to make up as it is sad that such a truly great player and captain should be at loggerheads but I’m sure time will heal .. they will both mellow a bit and realise how they each enable each other’s ambitions to become reality and Keane can re-join the United family.

  154. Albert Ross says:

Haiku – and I agree with you!

  155. AlphaRS says:

If SAF speaks his mind he is called a legend.
If Roy Keane speaks his mind he is some sort of cnut.

Hows that work? I think that needs looking at.
Roy “The REAL Captain Fantastic” Keane is a LEGEND.
Without his drive and determination I don’t think United would have been half as sucessful.
He didn’t do the team talks for SAF at half time for no reason you know.
