    Breaking News:

…United is expected to make an unprecedented double-swoop for Moutinho and Rodriguez of Porto. Porto has slapped a 30 million pund tag on the former, while the latter has been dubbed The New Luis Figo and is expected to cost around 40 million pounds. Both are expected to issue their come-get-me pleas later this afternnon over twitter. United is adopting a combative stance during this transfer window, aided by a warchest of 100 million. You heard it here first

  3. mara says:

I sick from those news and fact that we can t get players we want and we need….

  4. tisya says:

that ain’t possible.we can’t pay that much unless we used some players as part of the deal

Daily Mail writers would’ve been proud of that.. :D

Mike – it always works

  9. Harish says:

I know it is quite frustrating . We are one of the top clubs in world football yet when it comes to transfer matter we fail. I hope we buy one quality midfielder before the season starts

  10. Pratyush says:

    Harish

Mate we’ve already bought one quality midfielder this season – Shinji Kagawa.

I think we’re on the lookout for a midfield battler, like Fletch/De Rossi/Schweinstiger. An unknown quantity like Hernandez.

I believe that Modric is just a smokescreen for this real deal.

  11. chiko_mufc_mondlane says:

Me too can’t stand people always say that we no funds hence we can’t get player we want….
Sir alex has said it time and again that we have the money but only hasn’t found the right player!!!!

  12. Imran says:

While everyone talks about us never buying quality in midfield they forget the fact that we have been extremely unlucky in that department. when we won the champions league we already had Hargreaves anderson who was looking a promising prospect unfortunately they turned out to be injury prone another guy i can think of is the brazilian lad we had rodrigo possebon he suffered a carreer ending injury. last two seasons we were expecting pogba and others to make a mark but that also did not happen.
add to that Fletchers condition and we are down to park and reafeal in midfield

  13. chiko_mufc_mondlane says:

Moutinho had a great tournament but never was a fan of his…..
But 2 midfielders for that price I would take that with a blink

  14. Rd54 says:

Thanks jeep ,but I think if 35-40mil plus Anderson can done the deal .

  15. Rd54 says:

    Sorry jeet

  16. mikekelly12 says:

Reports in Spain say that Real Madrid have cooled their interest in Modric as Sahin doesn’t want to go to Spurs. Leaves Chelsea as the only suiters prepared to pay the proposed asking price. With that said Levy doesn’t want to sell to a prem club so maybe PSG could be pursueded to part with the cash?

  17. Harish says:

Gattuso and van bommel are free agents as they have been released by Milan. These two were one of the great defensive midfielders during theirpeak. Especially gattuso. He is 34. I feel he could have played top football for another 2 years atleast.

  18. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

Farewell to Mikel Owen – Quality whenever he played to be honest….now for Macheda to shine

  19. TheCANTONA says:

Modric for 30 m? No thanks. I prefer Javi Martinez than him…

  20. CedarsDevil says:

    Jeet

OMG OMG, You had me pissing my pants with excitement

  21. TheCANTONA says:

Gattuso were great hardworker but lack football inteligence & if i’m not wrong he was injured a lot last season. van Bommel is quality ones. Good technical ability, leadership & experience but i doubt his legs can handle the premiership…

  22. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

I don’t get why we don’t just bid for the the likes of Schweinsteiger & Xavi…we clearly have the money and both Bayern+Barca have their replacements in place already (Kroos & Cesc).

Its us procrastinating with a simple fucking £35m bid plus Anderson.

The only stumbling block is wages. Both Bayern and Barca have not won any major trophies so a change of scenery is good for those guys.

Barca will go into heavy decline under Pito Villaneuve, we should put in a £80m bid for Messi in 2013…only if we don’t sign Xavi though.

    :D

  23. Jeet says:

Rd54 – I expect the bid from United to be much lower than those numbers. And to include at least 2 of Anderson, Berbatov, Nani or Macheda. Particularly Nani, since he seems to be “snubbing” a new contract ;)

Also, keep in mind other clubs have been “put on high alert” particularly after Euros – these include Malaga, PSG, Inter, Juventus and of course Shitty and Chelsea – all of who could “hijack” any potential deal ;)

  24. CedarsDevil says:

    Papii

Ha ha ha, you mad nutter

  25. Jeet says:

@Cedars: Cheers, I am very excited as well!!!

  26. Brooka says:

Harish – Gattuso has already signed for FC Sion in Switzerland. In any case, he is definitely not what we need. Neither is Van Bommel.

I’m not sure about Modric or Moutinho and Like TheCANTONA, I would prefer Martinez. That’s not to say that I wouldn’t take the former two and I am not necessarily of the opinion that every team needs a specific defensive midfielder. Carrick does alot of the donkey work in our team and does it very well.

In reality, a top class midfielder who can do everything is what I would like, not just a player who stops the opposition playing. That has never been Utd’s way of playing.

The squad we have has a nice balance to it. I’m still not sure of the merits of sending Fabio on loan when he could play 20-25 matches for us in a season. Likewise, with the strikers I think finding another is lower down on the priorty list for Sir Alex and we’ll see the likes of Kagawa, Nani and Young deployed as the second striker on occasions this season when we decide to play with three in the middle.

  27. CedarsDevil says:

    Jeet

You make a very decent point mate………..Personally and like I posted on the other useless thread, I would sell Rooney too after his flop at the Euros……..

  28. Harish says:

Shaqiri the swiss midfield player who played for basle has gone to bayern munich for 9 millions. What were our managementdoing. No offence but our transfer activity has been generally poor . Kagawa and powell are two excellent signings but shaqiri played a great game against us in which we were knocked out.

  29. Harish says:

Gattuso was a powerhouse. I am not saying we should have sign him but he was a top player and class is always permanent. But again with scholes and giggs signing contract we don’t need another veteran.

  30. Jeet says:

@Cedars: While I wouldn’t go as far as that, the fact remains that Rooney has failed to deliver when it mattered most. Also, sometimes I wonder if rooney is responsible for the imbalance in our side. After all there is very little evidence to suggest that the Rooney-Welbeck combo is more effective than the Berba-Hernandez one, and God knows it might be very different if we were to combine Berba with someone like, say, Falaco. Also, I can bet that Rooney will be no better than Heskey in 2-3 yrs time, what with his drinking and whoring, so I’d rather sell him for 60 mil today and get one of Falaco/Cavani, if not both :)

  31. CedarsDevil says:

    Jeet

Indeed, lets face it, Rooney has lost it mate…….Best years behind him already. Selling both him and Nani could get us any fucker we want…….I would still love to see Sneijder at OT

  32. Jeet says:

Cedars – the only world class players I see at United are Berbatov, Vidic and Valencia… Sneijder snubbing us was a blow, as was Hazard going to Chelsea. We need a dramatic overhaul, and who knows, maybe it starts with the manager? Or with Carrick…

  33. Harish says:

    Jeet

Somewhat agree with you. But Rooney is top class player and he can perform in big games also ( Goal against barca at wembley). If the price is great like something around 100 million (Hell psg were giving more than 100 millions) then I think we should sell him. But currently I will never sell rooney or Nani or any other top player. We never utilised the money that we received from ronaldo’s transfer so I don’t h ave faith in Glazer whether they will buy a falcao or cavani.

  34. AlphaRS says:

Sell Rooney? Scouse bastard he may be for holding the club to ransom but to sell him?
Rooney being a flop at the Euros was based upon many things. Including being surrounded by mostly donkeys. England were set up defensively by The Hodge so defenders were always likely to be showered in glory. Little or no emphasis was put in to the attack and with little or no support how could Rooney or for that matter Young or Welbeck perform?

When Rooney plays for United it is a different case. He was instrumental in keeping United in touch with The Massive last season and is at present taking on the responsibility of being the most creativ player between midfield and attack.

    Sell Rooney. Buy John Fashanu.

  35. CedarsDevil says:

    Jeet

Vidic is not world class, just a hard man mate……..I still feel sick that we missed out on Hazard

  36. Jeet says:

@Cedars: Disagree with you on Vidic…he’s not the most technical player, but if we can get Chielini/Hummels/Kjaer to replace Rio, you will see Vidic blossom….

  37. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

Cedars – Well done for keeping RoM semi-alive

Its bit a bore since the season ended.

    I can’t wait for next season !
I look forward to seeing Vida Fletcher,Kagawa,Cleverley play for us.

    I miss Vida

  38. CedarsDevil says:

    Jeet

Fair enough, big fan of Agger personally……..Him and Vidic would rock…….Can we still bid for Hazard?

  39. Jeet says:

@AlphaRS: What’s the price tag that’s been slapped on John Fashanu? ;)

  40. Jeet says:

…Afraid not mate…personally, I would go for Douglas Moura and Strootman for the midfield. At least one of Susaeta or Munain for the lefty side …it’s beyond me why Fergie hasn’t gone after either of them or Oscar de Marcos. I understand that Bilbao like to keep their local players, but hell’s bells, mate – money’s got to talk!

  41. CedarsDevil says:

    Papii

Many others including your beautiful self should get credit for that too mate

  42. CedarsDevil says:

    Jeet

Do you think we missed out on Villas Boas? Would be a pity if he ends up at Spurs….. Fergie should have retired two years ago, Boas is young and would have taken us forward

  43. Panderi says:

    Cedars,

I’ve heard Brendan Rodgers wants to sell Skrtel. 20mn + Vida ought to do it. Agger and Skrtel combo is a proven one and better in my opinion.

  44. CedarsDevil says:

    Panderi

You raise a decent point……..If only Fergie can see it the way we do!

  45. Panderi says:

    Cedars,

Should’ve sacked Fergie a couple of years back, he’s lost it I tell you. Anyway its not too late and even better Pep Guardiola is available. Imagine United playing tippy tappy football.. Heaven…

  46. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

Cedars – I have rarely been on, the odd comment here and there….a new signing would spark madness and orgasm amongst the RoM’anians.

I hope we do sign something soon…..hopefully a deal with Adidas

I really hope we don’t sign Baines, as good as he maybe, he’s an England reject rising to £17m in value, when it can be spent on other departments. It should be in our priority to sign left back for around £10m aged around 25-26 for experience-sake but not pay over the odds for a guy that has hype surrounding him.

I don’t want him but if it were to happen, I would welcome him with open arms as I usually would….although like Young, he’d have to put in a hard shift to win us over.

  47. TheCANTONA says:

Heard a rumour Juventus has made a £8m bid for v.Persie. What a joke! the Italians might think they could make a co-ownership agreement with Arsenal. Ha..Ha..ha..ha!!

  48. CedarsDevil says:

    Papii

Its never about quantity mate and you are full of quality

  49. jeet says:

Papii – if we get baines, he would have to score a hattrick of left footed freekicks against the bitters to stand a chance at forgiveness for taking gametime away from fabio :)

  50. AlphaRS says:

    @Jeet
John Fashanu costs £17 million and he is also a better left back than Leighton Baines :D

  51. Cyril Sneer says:

Ya want a cheap left-back? How about Figueroa? Check this out:

    http://www.eplindex.com/14552/premier-league-team-of-the-year-based-on-statistics-part-1-defence-opta-stats.html

Get him cheap and sign Strootman too. :)

  52. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

Cedars Thanks  You too ;)

Jeet – :P Young was a free kick scorer, penalty scorer and had wonderful corners before he joined United  Lets hope Baines doesn’t lose his abilities too.

Fabael Dada Silva will eventually get fit, glass only gets stronger with time ! or is that cement? 8)

If Baines joins United, expect Rooney to crunch him in training….Leighton is a liverpool fan I think !

  53. Jeet says:

    Aah…someone gets the point

…though AlphaRS, your derogatory Fashanu allusion can be viewed as deeply homophobic, and consequently offensive to the liberated society we try to foster :)

  54. CedarsDevil says:

Not sure but I think Cyril wants us to sign Strootman………..Might be just a hunch

  55. Cyril Sneer says:

    ¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º° Sign Strootman Now! °º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸

  56. denton davey says:

Cyril Sneer @ 13:40: “Ya want a cheap left-back? How about Figueroa?”

That’s a good shout – Maynor Figueroa would be best-suited to back up NinjaEvra – and, coming from Wigan, he’d probably be happy to do so. Another thing he bring is versatility – he’s a big guy who can probably play in the centre of the defence if required – and loads of experience in the EPL. BUT, of course, he’s not a guy with a very high ceiling – another spear-carrier for the squad.

Not having John O’Shea exposed the lack of experienced-depth last year; loyal, determined squad players are a very valuable commodity – as long as they know and accept that role. No team is composed of super-stars – even the Spanish EuroWinners have Alvaro Arbleoa and Gerrard Pique on the field for every game – neither one is a super=star but both “know their place”.

By the way, how good is Sergio Ramos ?

  57. Cyril Sneer says:

@Denton – The main problem with Figueroa is he’s older than Baines (29-30) but he’s still good for 4 years or so which is plenty of time for Fabio or whomever else to ‘come good’.

I’m not sure how good he is going forward and setting up chances etc but as a squad player he’d be fine I reckon and it would free up the funds for that all-important midfielder.

Definitly not a superstar signing that everyone wants for every position but he’d do a job and not cause trouble.

  58. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

    Denton

Sergio Ramos is very over-rated – as good as Cahill at Centre back and as good a Maicon at right back…but nothing special as suggested by the media.

Pique imo is still very raw, he’s good on the ball and bringing it forward but defensively suspect. Ronaldo and Benzema always catch him slipping around wriggling in big games.

Arbeloa too is your simple right back, Tony Hibbert-esque.

John O’Shea was a perfect match for United….one of three ( Evans,Fabio,Jones) will become the next utility man of United…dunno who of course but it will happen !

  59. daemondada says:

Dear RoM,how is everyone.Congrats to Spain.Command performance they put up last night.I am sure that if Wazza had been in Ballotelli’s shoes for last night’s game, the ABU media would be going on now on how he was chasing the spaniards like a headless chicken and all what-nots.As Marq remarked on the preceding thread,Spain’s dominance of the Euros just accentuates the brilliance of CR7 who for me,is the player of the Tourney and,by extrapolation,Player of the Year.He sure kept Spain quiet. That game remains the only game in which Spain failed to find the back of the net in 120Minutes.It was also the game in which they enjoyed the least possession. They just had to deploy too many players in containing Ronnie and collected loads of yellows by so doing I might add.We all saw Ballotelli gas out after spending 70 minutes on the left wing signalling to the bench. For me,the left wing IS the most difficult position of all on the pitch.Only the very best players can dominate a game from that wing.Puskas,Ronaldo da Lima,Ronaldinho,Zidane,Cryuff,Giggs- Yet none of these players ever came up with the kind of numbers CR7 comes up with on the regular and ever increasingly.I am not taking a cheap shot at Messi, yet believe me,he just wouldn’t be able to post the numbers he does now if he were assigned the ‘graveyard’ shift which is the left wing instead of his present position as the hub of Barca’s and Argentina’s play. All Portugal really needed was an efficient striker. For my money, they would have taken Spain to the cleaners.Well THAT is in the past.Back to things Utd.I believe we have a wonderful team with Shinji and Powell being perfect buys to shore up our oft maligned ‘anemic’ midfield. For me,Jones should do the job of midfield battler until Fletch returns.Conversely,Javi Martinez does a good job in defence tho being a mid field marshall when called upon.Jones bombing raids and versatility would not adversly harm his defensive qualities rather would ensure he gets adequate game-time under his belt when the World Class partnership of Vida and Rio once again hold sway for one final hurrah. Then it should be time for the younger generation. All other departments are well stocked and I wont be surprised seeing Macheda take the world by storm next season to the dismay of his critics.Proper lad if you asked me.Got great instincts too.Fought to stay on at Utd and would give welbz good competition.Wazza has got to be the go to guy for us this coming season.Let’s treat him in exactly the same way as Barca treat Messi and not using him as a work horse all over the place.I know Evra neva gets injured yet Zeki should be gradually eased in.I pray SAF’s health holds up.The man’s living a charmed life. All in all we are set for a season of unmitigated dominance on all fronts.May God crown our efforts with success in Jesus Christ I pray.Amen.
