It does seem likely that Rio will return to the England fold.

I’m happy for him, but obviously much more content if he only plays for United.

Rio is eager to see our new/young recruits in the Capital One Cup tomorrow night:

“We have some really talented young players and I’m looking forward to seeing some of them. I’m looking forward to maybe seeing our new signing from Chile, Angelo Henriquez. I’m sure Nick Powell will play and I’m looking forward to seeing him again too as he’s a very exciting prospect. I’m excited to perhaps see Jesse Lingard play and I think Larnell Cole [could feature] as well. There is Michael Keane at the back too. There are loads of them and I could go on and on and be here all day. Hopefully they can stamp their authority on the cup this year.”

The Telegraph piece on Rooney makes very pleasant reading. Let’s hope it’s true.

I am hoping we see Rooney and Fletcher v the barcodes.
I hope we see Ando and Tom in MF with Nick Powell, supporting Welbeck and in attack.

Vidic might be ready in defense. So maybe a back 4 of Büttner, Vidic, Evans, Jones? Any word on Smalling?

Dreaded, Interesting from Rio. But Newcastle have been talking up their interest in a cup run. The will bring a very strong team. Rio might be just buttering them up. Think we will have some youngsters on the bench, but am expecting a very strong team.

Newcastle have decent squad depth too. Not to mention the fact they could use tomorrow’s game to bring back Coloccini and Tiote.

Ya never know – Gabby Obertan may return to OT tomorrow!

  6. DreadedRed says:

FletchTHEMAN – I’ve been thinking on the same lines.

Without long domestic Cup runs, it’s hard to find games for all the players. Only two centre-halves start, so two are sidelined. Add the young CH reserves to the equation, and there’s just not enough league and CL games to keep all the players in trim. This applies to all positions. We need to stay in the hunt for all trophies, at least until Christmas.

I’d suggest that we definitely play the potential from the Reserves, but build them around an ample core of proven quality.

  7. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

Hopefully Fergie gives Henriquez some time tomorrow? I also hope we start cleverley AND Ando and Buttner tomorrow as well. Newcastle are actually a pretty deep team and they will be eyeing the upset for sure. Hopefully we can pull off the win.

  9. ARUN says:

vidic out for 2 months knee op

  10. MartyRed says:

Just heard that on sky sports news. I was very surprised that he was “rested” for the trip to anfield so I was highly suspicious but I wasnt expecting that he had a knee op! We badly need to jones and smalling back fit, im glad johnny evans has a few games under his belt now because putting carrick back there is a no no for me.
