A fucking disgrace that was last night. That cunt of a Turk was clearly paid off. OT was absolutely electric last night and it was great to see all the banners round the stadium. Fuck off Mourinho you patronising wanker saying “best team lost”. Well they did but it’s easy to say that when his filthy cunt team progress.

  2. DohaRed says:

When are UEFA and FIFA going to sort out the shit standard of refereeing that lets the European and World game down. How many times have you seen shit referees making shit or bent decisions. Fucking disgrace. Thank fuck we have a high standard of refs for the Premier League.

  3. The Left Bank says:

Gutted from last night. A red card wrongly given separated United and CL glory.

Football can come and kick you in the teeth. Fuck!

But time to move on. We can’t be moaning when we have a 20th PL title to win and an FA Cup match to win. We can still get the double. All to play for.

I suspect the youngsters like Rafa and Welbeck and others will remember this night for a long long time and never try to let it happen again. This is why United are relentless in not trying to lose and win everything in sight.

    Onwards and upwards my friends….

  4. medumtum says:

They really should look at some system of checks and balances for the referees. As of now they are beyond reproach, and completely unaccountable. For one thing for a game generating such vast amounts of revenue and such a huge following the ref should be a professional. That completely changes the outlook of the person officiating in that it places an onus on him to develop and refine his refereeing. Secondly there should be some sort of ranking or an elite group of refs that should officiate big matches, and i mean that this should be determined based on the quality of refereeing by an individual ref by maintaining a record. This might be done now i wouldnt know because it is not transparent. And the ref should be allowed some sort of support from the myriad video cameras in and around the stadium, i dont mean to slow the game down, but it really is ridiculous that in this day and age an offside goal can decide the title. Looking at UEFAs attitude historically though it feels like wishful thinking.

  5. NBI Red Onion says:

If there is any justice the rodent Virus led by ego will not win a 10th european cup, they would lord it worse than liverpool and they don’t deserve it, it was a game bought by the Virus loving ref.

  6. NBI Red Onion says:

UEFA have opened disciplinary proceedings against Manchester United over Nani’s red card and the non-fulfilment of post-match media obligations after last night’s Champions League defeat by Real Madrid.

  7. gexmex says:

Fifa and Uefa have never criticized a ref no matter how big the blunder. The most they have done is to issue some sort of lame apology to the affected victim (England and Mexico in WC 2010). But most of the time, the official position is “errors are part of the game”.
However, refs who go beyond a red line are quietly removed from international football. This is what happened to Jorge Larrionda, the stupid Uruguay ref in the England – Germany match, and to Roberto Rossetti, the Italian who forgot the offside rule in the Argentina Mexico the very same day. Rossetti was considered fifa’s number one ref. They both were kicked out from the WC and never returned to an international match. If Uefa decides that Nani’s red was too big a a blunder, the ref’s fate will be the same.

  8. AlphaRS says:

Most of the referees both current and retired are saying it ws the right decision. If he didn’t send him off he wouldn’t have been given another big game to referee again.

  9. NBI Red Onion says:

Keane also told the Sunday Times: ‘People say Ferguson always does what is right for Man United.
‘I don’t think he does. I think he does what is right for him.’

  10. ak47 says:

I thought we were all above saying “the ref was bent”. It’s rather stupid and slanderous. I do however think he was incompetent. He wasn’t the only one. As was the ref 3 weeks ago. UEFA have failed to address the ill performance of their staff. This is a bitter disappointment.

I would still like to know how the referee justifies giving Arbeloa a yellow card and Nani a red, for 2 virtually identical challenges.
    .
UEFA should also look into the conduct of their match officials. A) a referee should not be allowed on twitter. b) even after making this grave mistake, following 2 non-turkish teams in Real and Barca, funnily enough both big games he’s refereed in the past year. It does not help to dismiss arguments that he isn’t impartial. By “following” someone on Twitter, it surely means you’re interested in them, and what they have to say.

The look on the cunts face when he gave Nani a red certainly look like he enjoyed it

  14. King Eric says:

Fuck off Platini you utter cunt and do summat useful with your crony Blatter and perhaps investigate the obscene amounts of oil money your beloved PSG are allowed to spend. If Fergie HAD commented last night he would have been fuming and said summat out of turn so he keeps quiet and still gets “investigated” Corrupt bastards.

I was lucky enough to be in K stand last night as opposed to the North Stand and it was rocking. I was below that amusing “Dave Saves” banner. That shit it is actually good! Lo and behold 3 rows behind me was s regular of this parish a while back Deano aka giggs12 Gerrard 0 and over my left mike Kelly 42.

Great finish just now by Powell.

Anyway we will have a serious siege mentality and can see us tearing the Rentboys a new one on Sunday

I heard today they are gonna keep all the banners up from last night permanently. Hope so as all the classics were on show.

  15. NBI Red Onion says:

@ alpha – which big refs? Graham Poll and several others have said it was NOT a red card. Please provide your proof. No one was appealing for a red card and he let worse fouls go. It was never in a million years a red card.

  16. King Eric says:

AlphaRS. Hi pal. Well the refs I have heard today like Dermot Gallagher and 3 card Poll said it was absolutely the WRONG decision.

  17. AlphaRS says:

    @NBI Red Onion
On Talk Shite today the presenters were saying prematch that they didn’t think it was a red card, Paul McGrath didn’t think it was a red card, Michael Owen said on the continent that would be a red card but he wouldn’t have given a red card, Richard Keys and Andy Gray didn’t think it was a red card, however the presenters said that most of the referees both current and retired that came on the show said it was a red card.
I’ve seen the replay and Ramos is telling the referee Nani went in studs showing. In the Premier league I don’t think that would have been a red card but we need to stop thinking that the Premier league is the be all and end all of football. On the continent the referees do not like the physical style on play of the Premier league.
I also want to say that even when Nani was sent off that United were still ahead in the tie. Bad decisions are made all the time but by putting his foot in the air he put himself at risk of the referee having to make a decision. Bad decisions are made by referees all the time. But the thing to do is mitigate against it by not putting yourself in that situation, and if you are in that situation, having a plan to do something about it. Other teams have been down to ten men. Barcelona v Chelsea at the Nou Camp springs to mind. They reorganised and changed their tactics and got the result they wanted.
It wasn’t the referee who left Modric unmarked on the edge of the box and it wasn’t the referee who left Ronnie unmarked at the back post.

  18. Sushi says:

If their is one organization that truly encapsulates the epic fail that is the continent of Europe (excluding Britain here I am talking strictly EU core) its UEFA and FIFA. 2 corrupt organizations packed to the rafters with bunch of wanna be has beens who are years behind modern thinking. Its no wonder Spain, Italy, Greece, Portugal, France etc are all fucking epic economic and social disasters.

Take heart in what you have in England, a long tradition and history of football with thousands of teams who have some claim to history no matter how far you go back. These so called wankers you have as journalists can stroke themselves to Barcelona and “El Classicos” and germans and all that nonsense fact is those leagues are a fucking joke and we now know the only way they get one over us is through incompetent referees and corruption bureaucrats.

  19. AlphaRS says:

    @King Eric
Hello mate. I thought it was the wrong decision myself. I’m just saying what I heard on Talk Shite.

  20. AlphaRS says:

    Vincent Kompany:
    Never a red card.

    Dietmar Hamann:
“He wants to bring it down, I think no Real Madrid player expected it, nobody was claiming a red card. He didn’t see him he didn’t mean to do it, it’s not even a booking.”

    David Moyes:
“I think United have a right to surround the referee, he has cost them the biggest prize in football.”

    Dermot Gallagher:
“(The decision was) harsh to say the least but in fairness the Real player did Nani no favours whatsoever. At worst Nani catches the underside of his arm, certainly not the ribs as the guy has gone down and shown.

    Alan McInally:
“It’s a disgrace, a shocking decision, that has put Manchester United out of the Champions League.”

Ricky Hatton (after being asked his honest thoughts on was it a red):
    No, not a chance mate

    Joey Barton:
Red card for that is a joke!

  21. King Eric says:

Alpha. I know what you mean mate about regrouping and not let our heads drop but being inside OT last night after the red card was just bizarre. Totally stunned and even as players I think it was hard to shake it off.

  22. AlphaRS says:

    @King Eric
I feel sorry for the boy Nani. Nobody should point the finger at him for simply trying to control the ball. Arbeloa ran in to him to make contact and played a blinder going down like he’d been shot.
A Spainish presenter was on Talk Shite this morning and said even the Spainish media are questioning why it was a red card.

  23. Sparkz says:

All this “dangerous” stuff is nonsense. it wasn’t a 50/50 challenge where Nani knew where Arbeloa was. It was an attempt to control the ball. Yellow card max. I was speaking to an Arsenal fan at work today who said Bergkamp would never have scored that goal against Argentina at the WC if players can’t use their athleticism to try and control the ball! Also, I saw 2 players going at each other like that in the Celtic game tonight – no red card.

@King Eric – I hope you’re right about the siege mentality, really want us to do the Double, haven’t done that since 96 I believe. Just hope we don’t see a repeat of 2010 when we got knocked out by Bayern and then had a really flat performance at the weekend.

  24. King Eric says:

Fair play to Hatton for siding with United. And that odious bastard Barton.

  25. Sparkz says:

Back to 6 or 10 years we’ll have a top ref from a top league to officiate a top game. Wonder what was on Platini & UEFA mind when they tasked a ref from turkish league to officiate one of the season biggest game.
About sending off would really love to hear words from cunty cakir, oh I also believe that bellend Ramos influence him.
Spanish softy cunts ruinned football with their antics.

  28. King Eric says:

Sparkz. Hello mate. I know what you mean and funnily enough after Munich knocked us out didn’t we play Chelsea? Difference is we didn’t have the quality back then. Rooney was fucked and we had to bring on Kiko. Who to be fair scored albeit a handball. No I think we will be fine.

  29. NBI Red Onion says:

Its easier to put 10 men behind the ball and defend v barca than virus as barca are midgets who try to pass it in, even weaker teams can get lucky v barca defending with 10. RM not so easy red card plus tactical change but yeah players did take a while to re group.

  30. Stenis says:

The independent link actually goes to the daily mail’s piece about Rio

  31. King Eric says:

Stenis. Yeah I noticed that. Was looking forward to the Independent article.

Sparkz. On a similar note that link you posted is spot on. A lot of positives. Me and a pal last night said this crop WILL win the European Cup in next couple of seasons.

  32. FletchTHEMAN says:

    Very important read:
Graham Poll seemingly changes his view on Nani. Explaining that England, let by the FA are completely out of step with europe with respect to challenges.

His view, is that Collina (the representative who will judge Cakir) is the leader of this movement.

That view will not see Nani getting off, and leaves all English clubs with a big challenge to stay up in europe.

Nice to know FA are behind the times. Not a surprise to anyone.

  36. Sparkz says:

@King Eric – Cheers mate, it’s actually a piece I wrote, thanks for the feedback.

And I think I’m right in saying Chelsea was before the Bayern game. Think after we got knocked out we drew with Blackburn. That game was a killer. You’re right though – we have more quality now…wouldn’t be surprised to see Chicharito, Valencia, Evans etc come in and freshen it up

  37. Murt73 says:

Look I think this “Studs showing ” is a load of bollox in a situation like this…when its above the waist and Nani didn’t even know he was there…

Say for example Nani had gone in blindly and stuck his head in to that last night and there was a really bad clash of heads..The consequences could have been far worse as far as injury’s go.. severe concussion.. but yet it would probably be deemed an accident.. I can’t see why there should be a different outcome..both would be accidental clashes..

Anyway am amazed a Ref can allowed to be following teams on twitter like this!!!

Worked in Turkey and by far the most corrupt place iv’e encountered.

  38. Dan-young says:

The ref fucked us over how is this still a debate?!

Also i just realised, the cameras showed giggs give ronaldo his 1000th shirt!!! And cr7 had it with him going back to spain today. I guess giggsy will see it again this summer .. Not to sound like a broken record but hes coming back :)

  39. RedHarry4Life says:

Couple of things about the sending off whether it is right or wrong. What is wrong is that similar things happened in the match commited by RM players adn there was no sending off.

1 On the actual sending off who had the clearest view of the unfolding picture Nani or Areholaysb? It was YSB as he came charging in and could see that nani was trying to control the ball. Question if someone standing at a railway station sees a train coming into the station and throws themselves in front of it. Is it murder or sucide?

    2. In the 1st half YSB lost the ball and went over the top on Evraand got a yellow card. Except in that case it was intentional. Why not a straight red?

3 Lopez, uinlike Nani, saw Vidic come into head the ball and punched him in the head far more dangerous than what Nani did. Broken neck Skull fracture broken jaw to name some of the injuries that coulkd have been inflicted on Vidic. So why not a red and a penalty? If it had been a tackle then it would have been late and a penalty.

But then again United get all the calls don’t we?
Had a everton shite today at work say something to that effect. Straight down his throat mentioned the everton semi final when Wellbeck was pulled down no penalty no sending off lost on pens, Scholes goal in the porto game, Bayern munich all those fucking games against Chelsea with Roubles atkinson reffing, n to name just a few. He shut his mouth after that.

  40. King Eric says:

Sparkz. Oh nice one pal and yes you are right I think Chelsea were before Munich.

  41. NBI Red Onion says:

UEFA president Michel Platini personally asked for his organisation’s website to include a feature on Ryan Giggs’ 1,000th game. So the decision by Manchester United players not to speak to any media after Tuesday’s Champions League exit was a particular problem for UEFA.com.

  42. NBI Red Onion says:

SAF won by a mile the tactical battle with Maureen before the red card, he lost it for 15 minutes after the red card and won it again in the last 15 minutes.

75 minutes – SAF wins tactical battle.

15 minutes Maureen exploits United’s frailty after going down to 10 men by making key tactical change and getting lucky with Modric making a shot he has never made in Spain.

  43. Esteban says:

Interesting that even Marca (English language version) published this:

According to former referee, Andújar Oliver

Nani’s red card should have been a yellow

    03/05/2013

Controversy during the Old Trafford match came in the 57th minute, when a dangerous tackle by Nani on Arbeloa was judged by Turkish referee Cüneyt Çakir’s to merit a red card for the Portuguese international, when it should have been a yellow in the opinion of former Spanish referee, Andújar Oliver, on Radio MARCA.

Nani was watching an aerial ball and did not see Arbeloa going in. The Portuguese player raised his leg too high and hit Arbeloa in the chest. The Turkish referee, to the surprise of everyone, and the disbelief and indignation of Alex Ferguson, showed Nani a red card.

At the time, the score was 1-0 to Manchester United, the scenario changing completely with half an hour left to play.

  44. NBI Red Onion says:

What do people make of this Rooney being sold stuff? For me this was a footballing decision pure and simple. It also is a warning shot to Rooney that he cannot take his place for granted, the smoking, fitness and overall game need to be better if he is to be first XI fixture.

Papers saying SAF not happy with his form ad fitness and that there has been tension between them this season, I can understand there may have been some when he came back a fat bastard but they seemed fine in training pics etc and Rooney always looks happy.

However, he probably is more sellable now from a United point of view, will they renew or extend a contract of £250k per week plus for a player who will be close to 30 when his current contract expires in 2 years, or will they sell?

Will PSG pay EUR50k per annum including 75% tax for Rooney? Who knows. I doubt he would want to play abroad. I think this was a good footballing decision but it is also a warning shot.

  45. Daniel88 says:

    - The Guardian wonders whether Rooney will fulfil his potential –

I find this Wayne Rooney situation fascinating. Yes. This is a rant on Wayne Rooney. Please could sensitive people avert your eyes. It still amazes me that people are still labouring under the delusion that he is some special talent. How many times in big games is he not trusted to win the game but is instead tasked to defending ?. Now he is being left out altogether. Who would have guessed eh ?. LOL. The arrival of Van Persie has certainly caused Wayne to lose his air of invulnerability. Something he desperately needed with his constant off field problems, inability to stay fit, the events of that week and times he plays like a less than average Premier League striker. What happened to the Wayne Rooney that pitched up at OT as a teenager. The boy that would get the ball and go rampaging at defenders all pace and power. I dont even remember the last time Wayne Rooney ran with the ball at defenders. Never mind doing it on a regular basis. A huge bid from PSG would be perfect. I’d sell the overrated, over hyped and grossly over payed assclown to help fund a proper MIDFIELD rebuild. I’m talking James Rodriquez, Gareth Bale, Joao Moutinho, Jack Wilshere and other big game players.

  46. Red In Taipei says:

@TheCANTONA Keane still bitter about his exit, unlike Ruud & Becks, he’s not man enough to admit that his departure was the best thing for the club. Ego maniac. Don’t forget his “meat” comment during “Rooneys fiasco”

I have been repetitive, btu THIS IS WHY, I consider the likes of Ruud, Becks and Ronaldo legends, because they gave it all for United, like Keane, BUT after their departure, they still loved United and didn’t/doesn’t talk trash about us, didn’t burn the bridges, even though they /Ruud and Becks/ had more reasons than RoyKeane,

Anyway, I always thought he was a dirty player, yes I cheered those goals against Juve and etc, but, I never liked him, NEVER, I hate dirty players, that try to hurt others in football. RoyKean was that, and now he’s also showing his colours as a person. Very arrogant.

I don’t know what’s wrong with our ex-players, first it was Neville in that crazy analysis about DeGea and no RoyKeane. Neville is forgiven, because it was his first time, but RoyKeane is not new at this. Liek you don’t buy the stuff Ronaldo says about lovind United, I don’t buy the stuff that Keane says about loving United and hating SAF. DOn’t he know that SAF is ManchesterUnited?

NOW, le’ts move on people, next is Chelski! let’s concentrate on that and what the line-ups should be.
    peace.

even after 2.5 concecutive great and good seasons with great stats and the only ones that can be compared to him are the likes of DiMaria, RObben, RIbery, SIlva and Valencia with similar stats. Only this season ahs been bad for him, since he started from that Arsenal match. Now he’s played 1 great and 2 good games in a row. Against Reading 47minutes 1+1, QPR 90 minutes 0+1 and Madrid basically an assist even though Welbeck was the last to touch it and Ramos with an OG.

Go on and check the stats of those players I mentioned in their last 3 seasons and compare them to Nani, see any difference?? http://espnfc.com/stats/scorers/_/league/eng.1/barclays-premier-league?cc=5739

It cost them dearly as they eventually surrendered the title on the last day on goal difference.A fit Rooney and surely they would not have lost to a club struggling to stay afloat in the top flight.

The funniest fucking thing I have read since the match is Chelsea fans telling us how they “readjusted” their tactics after CLLC was sent off last year and how Fergie failed to do the same. Readjusted to what? From put 11 men behind the ball to put 10 men behind it? Nobody cares to mention how Barca shit all over them for the whole match and contrived to miss enough chances to win 5 matches. No thanks for the defensive lesson you fucking rentboys. I think we could have brought on Evans and shut up shop if we were 2-0 up but at 1-0 that match was still in balance and even at 1-1 going into extra time would have favored Madrid against our 10 men. I hope we fucking stuff the Chavs on Sunday.

  59. TheCANTONA says:

    @WeAreUnited:
Sorry mate, i beg to different. Keano wasnt a dirty player, a harsh player maybe. But this is different era, back then u got some seriously “hard” players like Keane, Vieira, Effenberg even Deschamps. They added steel & guts to their perspective teams and i actually i missed it.
Also why do people think players like keane, becks means more to the fan is because they stayed with us during their peak & only left the club after we got the best from them…

  60. sam says:

We were disciplined and played well on the counter, sir Alex got his tactics spot on. There is no point arguing with other fans who talk about us conceding possession at home or us playing inferior football vs the stronger teams. That’s bollocks. Sir Alex’s next great team is evolving to play as a squad, where ideally every player is expendable. That is the ethos he is putting into place, and rightly so. Look at how we played with Rooney and kagawa on the bench – top drawer. The fluidity in place tactically is awe inspiring and Jose rightly acknowledged sir Alex for what he has put in place. The next great united team is around the corner and I think we are genuine contenders in Europe for the next few years. On a side note, its good to see people like David gill breaking into Europe – the premier league needs em.

  61. sam says:

Sometimes It ‘feels’ like UEFA are treating the premier league like we do Chelsea or city – like a brash, uncultured friend who suddenly got rich and wants to break into the big time. Probably my bias talking, but the feeling doesn’t go away.

  62. TheCANTONA says:

    @WeAreUnited:
But dont get me wrong, to me keane is no longer a legend. Not just because this but back to those rows with SAF, his support to Ronaldo’s slavery comment, his meat comment during rooney’s fiasco.
Heck! Dont know why but I believe when he left the club he wanted the club to failed badly & SAF to get sacked only for him to say “i told you so”, such a massive ego…

  63. lordrt says:

rumours intensifying about rooney’s possible exit, and even i think it’s true this time, left out of the starting 11, ronaldo not signing any new contract with madrid, lewandowski rumours going on, seems rooney will have to fight very hard if he wants to stay, else it will be goodbye to him soon

  64. Andromeda says:

George Best, Denis Law, Robson, Charlie, Cantona, Ole, Bruce, Schmeichel, Neville , Scholes, Giggs, Ferdinand..etc, even Park and guys like Vida, Carrick are our legends.but no way to mention Keane!he was a great player at his time, but is a disgrace since he left our club.to be honest he lost my respect even before his analysis to Nani’s incident.the measures for legendary status is not just to be a great player, its also many others things altogether.longevity, personality, honesty, dedication, respect for the club and the shirt, being humble, not playing for money, set example for future generation…Roy Keane had some of those characters let us not forget but he has been dishonest in many of his comments and biased, holding bad feeling toward our manager and our players.end of argument.

  65. kungfoocantona says:

look lets get a few things straight here, firstly roy keane will always be a legend for what he did on the pitch no doubt about it so respect that, however hes no doubt a fucking cunt now. why are people slagging mourinho and then other united fans jumping on the band wagon. he was respectful in what he said about united and about are manager regardless if hes after the job or not. who do u want in charge? mike phelen? fuck sake people get with the times here hes probobly the best manager out there, hes the same as fergie his only down side is hes managing a fucking virus. dont start gettin all chelsea about managers here as take a good fucking look down there and see how its effecting them. i for one will support him 100% if he takesover cause its manchester united i support regardless of whos in charge. also just because rooney was onn the bench hes leaving or hes finished or thats why we lost? really. those people clearly didnt watch the same game then, firstly nani and giggs were the ones played instead of him. nani was good and i wont talk about that red and giigs, well fuck me pink what can u say, a legend a hero and a great great man. we were the best team and apart from the 15 minute spell were real scored we were still dominent so i dont see what difference rooney would have made, also welbeck was a choice ahead of him and again was outstanding. its time to move on people whats done is done. ref is a cunt and all but cant change shit. lets do chelsea on sunday and get this league back to old trafford and really push for the fa cup, would love to win it this year

  66. kungfoocantona says:

also greta to see the press support united here, never thought i would see the day

  67. kungfoocantona says:

also i think nani should have used his head because it was always a risk what he done as these fuckin foreign players make a meal of everything. and refs are more strict. still was never a red card.

  68. FletchTHEMAN says:

    Good morning Reds!

    Siege mentality then? Ha
Bad referees, UEFA and the “FA” all out to sea. Typical for March? Just about. Right then.

Havn’t done the League and FA Cup double (as a stand alone) since 1995-96. We did do it in 1998-99 as part of the treble ofcourse. Hope we get the fans rocking again v the Chavs as that type of reponse will really lift the plays. Understand Nani is feeling a bit low, but needs to shelve that. We have 10 games in the league and a minimum of 3 in the FA Cup if we progress. No time to be down when we are top of the league and everyone looking at us to slip up.

We need a response this Saturday. The Fans need to show their love for this team! All of them. Nani, Rooney, the entire beautiful lot!

  69. kungfoocantona says:

also i fucking hate sergio ramos hes one of the biggest cunts in football. he should have been sent off in madrid, bt of course the ref wouldnt do that instead he shows 4 united players yellows, how many madrid players? none not even varane he should have had a red. and he went to the ref to say nani had studs up which prob helped in the decision. fucking fucking absolute cunt he is

  70. kungfoocantona says:

    @fletch the man

right behind u there mate still alot to play for and the double would be a huge acheivement considering most united fans were probobly writing theh team off for winning the league a few games into the season

  71. Andromeda says:

    @Kungfoocantona
we are probably in slight disagreement here mate.regarding Roy Keane.I said he was a great player at his time, but its worthwhile to note the aftermath, when he left the club!!thats why I have put some crucial measures for the legend title.he never stopped slating Fergie and the players publically in the press, he was dishonest, careless and hence he is no longer a legend”at least in almost all of this ROM’s opinion”
however I do agree with the rest of your comments regarding Mourinho.

  72. FletchTHEMAN says:

erm ** lift the players ****

  73. FletchTHEMAN says:

Kungfoo, Cheers mate. Loved Keano, Mega immense as a player, microscopic as post career personality. Actually wonder if he has some coping issues. Never been the same since triggs passed. Hope he gets some help. Still makes my EPL era XI tho. Hard to beat as a player. Wish we had his like today. He would have taken that tie by the short and curly’s even with a man down. Was just watching a video compilation. Hard not to love the player he was. But he was like rooney to be fair. Only came to United to win things. If he sensed we were slipping, not afraid to say his mind.

  74. FletchTHEMAN says:

Sunday Mar 10….. 16:30 Old Trafford!
    Referee Howard Webb

This is Chelsea people! And look, they brought Rafa, Fernando, JT and Cole. This will be fun!

  75. kungfoocantona says:

    @ Andromeda

I here u mate and i wont disagree, everyone has there opinion and i agree with fletch the man hes got issues and needs to keep them to himself.

  76. LexxytheRed says:

Daniel88, I completely agree with you on the Rooney issue and I will keep saying it. Peeps on ROM will be critical of this but apart from Antonio Valencia, Rooney is the least naturally gifted player in our entire forward line. I can’t remember the last time he turned a defender inside out or go past them this are stuffs that even Rafael does every Ten minutes in a match. I didn’t and will never by the hype of Rooney is our talisman.
On to the Chelsea match, if I were Fergie I will start Nani ahead of Valencia and Chicharito ahead of Rooney again. Young will come in for Welcome and Carrick/Cleverley combo at CM

  77. LexxytheRed says:

    Young for Welbeck…… Sorry typo

  78. Proverb says:

Rooneys exit getting abit tense now. I’m fucking confused, should he stay or should he go?!?!?

  79. Proverb says:

My concern is not due to his ability to turn on players, dribble or turning up when it matters, but I feel his stop and start, inconsistency and attitude will soon or later haunt the team. He’s such a brilliant player, works hard but unfortunately he’s getting slower when he should work hard to keep his pace

  80. FletchTHEMAN says:

    UNITED’s most Egotistical XI

Barthez Heinze Keane Hargreaves Ince Beckham Ronaldo Cantona Tevez Veron Ruud Hughes.

    Bench: Rooney

    Manager: Dave Sexton

    Mascot: Pogba

  81. Bobby Charlton's combover says:

I’d start Rooney ahead of Hughes. It’ll make him feel better after missing out the other day.

I’d say Clayton Blackmore might make the bench too.

  82. mara says:

But in one tv show was shown that Rafael was playing with hand when he was stopped the goal from corner. So we have to be honest, if ref saw that he would red carded him. We would again be with one player less.
About Rooney, we will see. I don t think that he has to worry. It was about tactics…

  83. LexxytheRed says:

@Proverb, Yes and also I think he’s lost the killer touch and instinct now. He just goes about the pitch this days and not carrying much threat like in his younger Days. I said before on ROM here that Rooney can improve anymore, its downward from here. So selling him at the right price to a foreign club should be considered if an offer is made!!!!

  84. LexxytheRed says:

  85. FletchTHEMAN says:

Bobby CC Hahaha A top omission to be sure, now rectified! Oi me!

Been considering moving Poggers to the bench as well. That would free a well deserved spot for Ravel Morrison as mascot-in-chief

    All suggestions happily entertained!

  86. WeAreUnited says:

    @TheCANTONA

maybe because of some his tackles was s oreckles that I consider onyl a dirty player t odo that. Anyway I get the point!

    peace.

  87. Bobby Charlton's combover says:

@FletchTHEMAN – definitely room for Morrison on the bench, well given the size of his ego there mightn’t be.

Pogab deserves a spot too but I’m still sorry we let him go. I know plenty more don’t share my view but it’s the type of player we’ll be looking to sign for the midfield and we let him go.

  88. King Eric says:

Daniel – Please enlighten me as to which games “big game player Wilshire” has stepped up to?

  89. Daniel88 says:

Did you see the Bayern vs Arsenal game ?. He made Sweinsteiger and Martinez look like ameteurs. I lost count of how many times ball at foot he burst past them through the middle.

  90. DreadedRed says:

Daniel88 – While my views are not aligned with yours when it comes to Rooney, I commend you on your ability to criticise him without rancour or vile slander.

I’ll not debate the issue now, but perhaps another time…
