Now Roy Hodgson is enraged about the Cleverly-not-for-England petition.
I feel a little bad for Cleverley, yet he has brought this on himself.
He’s a highly-paid professional footballer playing for a team who prime credo is to entertain.
He has wasted the opportunity by continually playing over-cautiously and passing backwards whenever we are trying to go forwards.
He then tweeted his dismay about being made a scapegoat.
It was the most whiny, self-pitying thing I’ve seen in a long time.
First thing, he wasn’t the only person being blamed.
Secondly, to be made a scapegoat implies that you were an innocent who was unfairly blamed.

He needs to grow a pair, start playing as if his career depended on it (it does right now), and then the good things he craves will come to him.

    Oh, and first

That link in the other thread to the st pretty news article is brilliant.

Its what I’ve been saying all along. I expected us to be third this year, maybe 4th but COMPETITIVE and we are not.

I think unless they ship out the majority of the current team Moyes will not last because that Olympiacos game made it clear the players don’t give a fuck about him.

Yes he selected a lame team buy that performance was tragic. I’ll ignore the fact that all season our style of play has been shit so I’m not even convinced new players can help us going forward.

Anyway, hope we win the next game. (Ugh, now I sound like Moyes lol)

Looks like Robin van Persie has shed his illness and will start for Holland v France.
No lack of commitment from RvP where the Orange are concerned then?!

Watching USA v Ukraine friendly from Cyprus only a few hundred people in the crowd very strange but under the circumstances great to see.

Interesting news on United youngster Andreas Pereira

“I told Belgium that I don’t want to play anymore as I want to focus on Manchester United. They call me, but I want to play for Brazil.”

  7. Fletch™ says:

Any of you lads put any stock in the transfer links with Paul Pogba?

Just another article claiming we are in for him. I find it doubful, but would love to have him back.
Not sure he is as good as he looks in Serie A, but still would like him back.

  8. Fletch™ says:

  9. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

I mean Cleverley should not be starting games and it is sometimes baffling that he starts games continuously for us and gets into the England team when he’s not good enough but why are England fans booing him? I’m pretty sure he did not choose himself. SOMEBODY Chose him. Why not direct anger at caveman Hodgson? How stupid do you have to be to boo a player? Sure he did not deserve the spot but what’s done is done. England fans are too blockheaded to understand this simple point.

  10. Fletch™ says:

Cleaverley, must do something that keeps him in the game.

Both Moyes and Hodgson have said that he moves the ball around the part and keeps possession.
Must do it better than other lads for the spot for 2 managers to be picking him ahead of loads of other talent.

One wonders if he will still get picked if we reach all of our transfer targets.

Question for next summer. At least the lad is getting games. Exactly what he needs right now.

Can’t abide the boo boys. Will accomplish nothing for me.

  11. Tommy says:

Scott theirs certaintly some talent on that list, Carvalho is undoubtably the number 1 target on this list, the lads been described as a young Viera but better high praise indeed, I have seen a fair bit of him myself, Hes a proper athlete that gets up and down the pitch no problem, can tackle is as strong as an ox and can pass and at age 21, he should be snapped up, the 37million reported buy out clause should be met, no dilly dallying Moyes just pay up, Kroos I still think will sign a new deal eventually but if he does not, then United could match his wage which will be his reason for leaving the best club in the world, Koke has just signed a new deal but like Scott said it does not make him impossible to sign, would I be spending £50million on him? Probably not, but it not my money. Pros and cons for Gundagan, The pros are hes a top top player, the cons are hes been injured all season and would be a massive gamble signing a player who has not played for so long, Do I think it will happen? Possibly. DeRossi is a good player that their is no doubt but hes getting on a bit so I see this deal as very unlikely to happen. Alex Song, questionable attitude during his Arsenal days, Wenger couldnt wait to sell him to Barca, could also be why hes not played often since signing for Barca, a poor attitude in a team where the right attitude is esstional. I can see Carvalho happening and maybe Gundagan, I dont have much hope for the other 4.

What I want to see is an experienced man coming in and replaceing Vida, none of these lack of experienced 20 year old, an experienced head 26/27 year although it really wouldnt shock me if Puyol came on a free.

Andy Mitton red through and through, Hes got a great life, United season ticket holder, comes to as many games as he wants, lives in Barcelona, travels all over the place interviewing former players and people in power

  13. united till i die says:

I suppose its too much to hope that we sign Kroos and Carvalho early in the window then do a straight swap with Kagawa and Gundogen. Three new top midfielders in for around 70-80m would be good business.

  14. Blacksocks says:

Carvalho – looks like being our top midfield target. Others would probably have to be sold to make way if we want any other midfielders.

We do need a class central defender too, but I just hope we do what Fergie managed occassionaly, make the signings early and then sit back and watch the rest scrabble about and try to out bid each other.

Unfortuantly, this being a WC year will probably complicate that. Agents won’t want to let players move till after the WC, if they have a decent WC then their value will increase, hence more money for the agent.
