so many reasons that it is a good day to be a red. me, personally.. i jjust think its nice to feel some excitement when my mind wanders back to MUFC – like how i felt for the majority of my life.

praying we dont see dannys missed/disallowed chances last night haunt us – like RvP’s missed sitter in madrid last year bit us in the ass

  2. Blacksocks says:

Just glad to still be in it to be honest but bayern are favourites at this stage. It was great to see Vida and Rio rolling back the years last night but Fellaini looked out of his depth.

  3. Tommy says:

Vidic was excellent all night, a captainws performance rollin back the years and people said his heart was in Milan. Fellani poor first half, decent 2nd half, also his movement on the corner took the defence away to allow Vida to score, could of tracked Schewinsiger up for the equaliser although thats a bit nick picking against 99% of teams you get away with tiny mistakes. Danny, just hit it son, simple no need to try and be clever, just smash it. Buttner was excellent, he didnt give Robbin a kick all evening, I would still bring back Evra for the 2nd leg bu Alex did himself proud, The whole defence did us proud last night, every laast one of them from Rio and Vida rolling back the years, to Jones at RB then at LB andValencia when he moved back to RB and Buttner at LB, Munich barely tested DDG and that says how good the defence played.

Moyes got his tactics spot on and deserves hugh credit, I doubt he will get any on these pages though, same again next week, if im offered 0 0 at H/T next week I would take it, then have a right go 2nd half and they would get nervy hopefully.

    My ratings for the game

    De Gea 7

    Jones 8

    Vidic 10

    Rio 9

    Buttner 8

    Carrick 8

    Fellani 6

    Giggs 6

    Valencia 8

    Welbeck 9

    Rooney 6

It is all to play for in Munich next week, Peps sides always give you a chance to score so if we can defend well again then we have a chance of causing an upset because I think we will score overtheir

Vida with the rallying cry but hes spot on, we have played well in the champions league this year with the exception of Olympiakos in the 1st leg

  4. Mark Reid says:

Spot on Tommy would give Butner a 10 he was great.Yea the whole team did good shame Welbeck didn’t convert but what are you going to do.The Manager got it right too.The team played with heart and determination for a change.

    Journalism going to the dogs?

It was Chris Bascombe who was looking up dog pics at Old Trafford.

Wanted to compare fellaini with somekind of hound???

    No, me neither?!…-and-heres-why.html

  6. Fletch™ says:

Tommy, Cheers son. Fellaini a 6? Gowan mate! He was dross! ;)

We will have a complete set of FBs for the return leg. My money is on Fellaini on the bench with Jones partnering Carrick.

  7. Blacksocks says:

I thought Buttner never looked fully fit and was clearly targeted by BM with their full back getting lots of possession on the overlap. That said, he stuck to his task well and I hope his injury isn’t too serious. He is a decent enough back up at left back but we need better in that position next season, if and when Evra leaves.

That Welbeck miss would only get him an 8 from me but the Munich defence were terrified of him.

Very generous giving fellaini a 6 too!

  8. Blacksocks says:

I agree Jones in midfield for me next Wednesday, Smalling might be better at right back than Rafeal although it probably all comes down to fitness as much as anything else. There is of course the small matter of the Geordies away this wkend to negeotiate first. I just hope we don’t pick up any more injuries and a morale boosting win would be much needed.

  9. Fletch™ says:

Blacksocks, Cheers mate. Luckily the barcodes have been dire. 3 losses in last 4 and only 1 goal in all of those while conceding 8.

Hope we find them with their proverbial pants down and with a bit of confidence on our end.

As you say, we need some luck with fitness….. for once!
