    It is true that Rooney has not and maybe never will furfil his international potential despite being close to SBC record, he has scored most of his goals against poor sides in the quals and in meangingless friendlies, however its not entirley his fault he is in an era of dross, just like Ronaldo with portugal, Rooney has not enough good players around him, hhad he been born to play in the earlier era (1996 – 2004), he would have excelled but such is life, he will however probably be t next captain for the 2016 euros which will ultimately end in dissapointment again.

  2. Tommy says:

    LVG is not the first to criticise the scheduling, Jurgan Klinsman wanted to know why the Germans get an extra days rest before their game against the USA, saying FIFA always favour the bigger nations, although as Gary Lineker pointed out he didnt complain in 1990 when the Germans had an extra days rest before the semi final with England haha, LVG had a point though, why are Brazils group playing after the dutch group?

    Mate, yeah CRy 7 and his arrogant Portuguese crew were seconds away from packing their bags for home sweet home. Germany and USA will now play for draw and I saw CRY 7 making excuses already :)

    Other threads, in one you said CRY 7 will “freely” score against us but then when we were the most likely winner and should have scored few more, you then took refuge to CRY7 injury to hide yourself .

    Mate, Never Write off chances of the greatest nation of this world again on anything! Why? Because those players fight socks off, the true American way. :(

    John, have you watched the Germans in the last 4 years? There’s no way Germany will be playing for a draw. I still think you’ll go through, but my money is on Germany to beat the States by a couple of goals.

    What is the true American way? America is a relatively young nation made up of a variety of Asian, South American, European, and African settlers. The natives of the land before it became the USA were by all accounts ravaged by disease that White European settlers unknowingly brought with them before the well documented conflicts on the early 18th century.

    The White Europeans and British were originally the native Celts of the country that is today called England, which takes it name from the title Angleland (the land of angles) which was what the 5th century Germanic settlers, the Anglo-Saxons named it.

    Since the the Anglo Saxons settlers, England had been invaded numerous times. The Vikings invaded and settled in parts of England between the 8th and 11th centuries before the eventual invasion from the Normans in 1066.

    The Normans were a Frankish and Nordic race of people from the country that is today known as France. They settled in England and changed the country dramatically before finally being ousted by the Plantagenet dynasty from what was then Anjou in France. These French Kings of England ruled the country for nearly 300 years before the eventual Tudor dynasty began after the death of Richard iii.

    In short the English Americans who make up an estimated 10% of your current population are descendants of these people who are themselves a mixture of races from Europe.

    I feel the need to give a history lesson to let the self acclaimed best nation in the world to let them know that the world is a lot bigger than the United States, and you’re in fact a bunch of mongrels like us all who just happen to inhabit the United States at this current time.

    To be fair I see many Americans in London and I love to see their enthusiasm for English history ;)

    @Gary

    The americans I know tell me that in their school in America, americans only learn about american history, they are a self loved nation but i like them to be honest, when I have been to new York and Las vegas treated with respect by the good old US of A, but I think if they lose by 2 I fully expect Ghana to win so that would put ghana through, USA need a similar situation to what happened with the germans and Austria a few years ago when they just passed it amongst themselves to get a 0 0, wouldnt shock me with the Germans

  6. John says:

    @Gary

    Hahahaha…some insights into history Gary! I will not even bother to cross-check it in Wiki. :)

    Well, my comment was just a teaser to Tommy but I am sorry if I offended you, mate. Ha, I seemed to have touched the sensual side of Gary, I guess. :(

    It’s a globalised world mate and US is a nation of immigrants so I didn’t meant to bully or offend to anyone. I was, of course, excited coz of how we are performing in the World Cup and it was a light hearted comment Tommy in meant as a teaser to his comments in prev threads.

    Ha. I am actually a naturalised citizen of Republic of Manchester (Red side) tbh. :D And our new president is Louis Van Gaal who just made it chilly for Chile. :)

    Anyway, Cheers Gary! ;)

  7. Gary Mitrovic says:

    Tommy, yea I’m with you mate. I’ve only been twice to the stated like yourself, Las Vegas and San Francisco. The majority of the people very friendly and had a good laugh with the locals in San Francisco.

    I just a get a bit bored of the whole shouting from the rooftops about how great they are. By in large they need educating about the world and not just the United States. But not all of them are like that of course.

  8. John says:

    Gary, and………Van Persie is probably our new commander-in- chief! :)

  9. Gary Mitrovic says:

    John, yea you touched a nerve slightly, even it was in jest what you said. I guess I’m equally proud of England even if we are currently shit at football.

    I can’t say I’m surprised the USA are doing well. I thought Germany would go through and the other spot was really up for grabs. USA’s destiny is in their own hands going into the final game and they couldn’t ask for much more. Tough to call, but I think USA will go through despite losing narrowly to Germany.

    We are all United on here (sometimes) under the flag of Manchester United, what ever race we may be. Good luck to the USA against Germany. I just want to see entertaining games for the test of the tournament, and a German win at the end of it as I’ve backed them to win the whole thing!

  10. Tommy says:

    @Gary

    John is a bit of a wind up merchant, hes quite funny though, Do you think Portugal will beat Ghana? Cant see it myself, Portugal with an injured Ronaldo are poor and the way Ghana played against the Germans only see 1 winner mate

    Decent article on Zaha, I dont think hes progressed as expected and theirs question marks over his attitude, LVG wont stand for that plus with less games hes going to get even less game time here and at the age of 22 you cant consider him a youngster anymore, so I definatly see him leaving either on loan with a view to permanent deal or a permanent deal

  11. Gary Mitrovic says:

    Tommy, Ghana should be favourites in theory after the past two performances from Portugal, but you just never know. It’s been an unpredictable World Cup so far.

    Hoping for Brazil to put Cameroon to the sword tonight, only for the dream team. Neymar double, and Thiago clean sheet will do nicely.

  12. Tommy says:

    @Gary

    Camaroon have been the worst team in the compeition, cant see anything other than a big win for Brazil, a confidence boasting win, I will be watching Mexico v Croatia should be a good game to decide who goes through, fancy a draw in that one.

  13. Tommy says:

    Hernandez starts on bench again, I think hes been lively in his 2 sub appearences, shame hes not been given a start

  14. Marko Maric says:

    I have to say something about Croatia last night and Mexico…and all european teams. We dont have warior mentality, and that is what Chile has, Mexico…
    Chile coach after Spain defeat said: we are going to knock down Spain! Spain, who is world champion.
    Mexico s coach who has golman without club, says that they are going to finals. Get it? WARIOR MENTALITY!
