The Evening News reports on Welbeck’s claims that Fergie should stick with youth in the League Cup.
Red Rants talk about the Ljajic deal.
West Ham fans will all receive a free scarf when they play us at the weekend.
Gabriele Marcotti gives his team of the decade in The Times.

Man Utd News 24/7

Manchester City’s £117.5 million summer spending spree highlights United’s more cautious spending approach” How is that a bad thing???
also it would be fantastic if Rio Return against the feeder club. . .
the red rants was a wonderful read thou at the end I learned nothing more . Ah they get a scarf”of what fun it is to watch unitd win away” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzEDd_TOHxs&
so after a full day and a half of unanswered questions ,computer fights, disareements , running down of views by me and to me , United been is debt to no return, the poor kid should be put on suicide watch over the christmas time, in fergie we trust, in glaziers we hate, I dont mind the glaziers , blah blah blah it turns out a work permit for Ljajic couldnt be got so they didnt pay for a player the couldnt play. S.I.M.P.L.E.
GHTT,
You’d think they would have said that in their official statement. When United want players they normally always get their man, work permit or not. You’ll get them through under the ‘exceptional clause’ ruling like we did with Anderson.
This is not about Ljajic. It’s about the way the club has handled it. We are Man United and we normally treat youngsters very well. It’s been dubious on this occasion that’s all.
GHTT- What is that about Ljajic not getting a work permit?
“Mike has just been asked about why Serbian youngster Adem Ljajic is no longer joining the club. Apparently the club were unable to gain a work permit for Ljajic in time for when they had to make a decision about whether or not to sign him. He also added that money was not an issue.” Man Utd website.
@theboogeyman
Mickey Philan said it when asked by the press@ Red Ranter its on the website now but your right it would of been nicer yesterday on there site, I remember the Anderson work permit but I dunno Im gonna take the club at the word. Im been told by a guy true youtube that Sir Alex is pissed off and thats why he’s not doing the press conference and I should be worried because This could end up with him Leaving. How stupid are some people does it ever cross there mind that it could be because mickey is the manager for tomorrows match
Disgraceful behaviour which I did not expect from the club.We are all rightly proud of our traditions but this is humiliating to the proud legacy of the club.Just imagine how the kid must be feeling now.Is it that difficult to for the club to work with class???
John Terry – Home-grown product, one-club man, old-school centre-half, brave warrior, you can roll out a half-dozen cliches to describe him. And they’re all true, which is why he makes the list. He’s a throwback who probably could have played in any era.
stop reading the team of the decade at this point, i could think of a couple more cliches to describe him.
I expressed my concerns over this at the end of the previous transfer window when the 80million from the Ronaldo fee wasn’t re-invested. I trust SAF 100% but i’m beginning to worry if SAF has full control over this situation.
Fair enough if we have enough youngsters coming through. Even if Ljajic was to join he would certainly have a fight on his hand for a starting place, and yes, maybe he simply isn’t good enough.
The question is, what will happen in January and will any of the 100M + ever be reinvested into the squad. If we continually spend 25-35million a season we will know that the money has been used elsewhere… i.e servicing the Glazier debt.
We are hearing the same old line “Value for money”. It begs the question, will we see any other players leave if they reach their peak Value.
John Terry – Home-grown product, one-club man, old-school centre-half, brave warrior, .PISSES ON THE FLOOR OF A STRIPCLUB BECAUSE HE COUDNT GET A FREE LAPDANCE FOR JUST BEEN TINY TEARS, DIVING BASTARD, LIER, CHEAT, CAPTAIN OF A TEAM THAT HAS HAD MORE DISAPLINARY REPORTS AGAINST THEM THAN ANYOTHER, LEADS HIS TEAM ON REF ATTACKS, you can roll out a half-dozen cliches to describe him. And they’re all true, which is why he makes the list. He’s a throwback who probably could have played in any era
I’m feeling less annoyed about the Ljajic situation now that its clear there was a work permit element to it.
Clearly his progress hasn’t been quite at the level that was promised or expected, hence the fact that the WP couldn’t be obtained even with the exceptional circumstance clause.
When you take into account that the lack of WP means that we would have had to fork out £10mill on a player who would have to either remain where he is for another season or be loaned somewhere else where he could work toward either reaching a WP level or getting EU status it seems the right thing to do tbh. He needs to be at United to develop really, if he was imho he would grow into a top player like Ronaldo did (based on the handful of matches I have seen of him) but if he has to stay where he is for a year or so or go to another lesser setup then he risks being like Dong and any promise he showed being hindered by playing the formative years at a lower level (Or like Tosic and really struggle to come to grips with the physical side when he does get over to united)
Also by missing out on joining in Jan he would be unable to qualify as a HG player so you would have a player who would take up a None HG place, who cost 10mill and who hadn’t been able to develop at the rate of others.
Mind you if I was United I would maybe see about still getting him, go back to Partizan and say “We can’t get the WP so we aren’t going to pay 10mill for him BUT we will pay X and will tack on more performance based payments to the deal and he can remain with you until we get the WP”
But I certainly don’t blame united now with this new info, its the only option they had because in the world where we have City, Chelsea, Real and others with bottomless funds every million is important when comes to the important aquisitions
His dad can get some some good drugs and if your nice to either one of his mams they’d proberly nick it for ya, Role model
Most of these articles have made me very angry. Why should United challenge Chelsea for £40m rated Aguero? There’s a good chance he’d be a waste of money. Is he half as valuable as Ronaldo? Not a chance.
Also saying that United wouldn’t meet the valuation of Benzema? I’m pretty sure they did but he chose to go to Madrid as a personal choice. This is all balls to me, just because we have £100m doesn’t mean we should spend it for the sake of it.
Having said all that, the Ljajic situation is still quite a confusing one.
And just to add, it’s funny how 2 years ago people were slagging us off for splurging on Nani, Hargreaves, Anderson, Tevez to win the Champions League… now they’re saying we haven’t spent enough??!! Fuck off.
And fuck off to that team of the decade for not even including Scholesey on the bench, citing that Alonso was a better choice because “If you take Scholes out of United they would still win bagloads of trophies, the same can’t be said if you took alonso out of liverpool”. I’m really sorry, but did I miss something here? Like the part where Alonso won bagloads of trophies with Liverpool?!
(4-4-2): Van Der Sar(whos back for tomorrow)(Peter schmeichel was still playing 10 years ago) ;Gary Neville(Irwin was playing 10 years ago thou), Rio Ferdinand(stam), John Terry(vidic), A Hole(at arsenal maybe but wuldnt ya rather evra); Cristiano Ronaldo, Steven Gerrard(scholes), Frank Lumpard(scholes), Ryan Giggs; Thierry Henry(Zola), Didier Drogba.(Wayna Rooney)
bigphil2003
First post was very true
your second post had me standing up in frot of my screen clapping my hands with a single tear of pride running down my left cheek
just found this on youtube Everyone knows I love Darron and everyone remembers his goal against Hull and seen his 2 great strikes on Tuesday but whet can he do with his weaker foot?? answer= Better http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85dR46PkX14&
bigphil2003, GHTT- We just can’t win over these journos and that’s the way I like it. It’ll be more fun to rub it into their faces when we prove them bastards wrong AGAIN.
All in all being said it’s been awhile since we actually targeted a world class top shelf player and got him with no dramas or having to go to second or third choices.
It’s as much uncertainty as well as frustration on our part of poor communication from the club that results in these claims from disgruntled fans or otherwise.
It’s a pity. But everytime I think of that I just remember that we got The King for 1.2 million.
Devils 4 life.
Anyone hear on sky news how much fifa are charging for group stage tickets? minimum 160 Quid!!! working class football me bolox,
Are West Ham supporters getting free scarves so they can wipe their tears at the end of the match with them?
@Manchuchu – Exactly and nowadays you would be talking 70 / 80 mill plus for Eric!! Maybe we will get the kid at a later date, but if we dont we dont. it is a shame for the lad tho.
The team of the decades that the press come up with are always truly laughable. Didnt scholesey help us get to 3 EC finals? didnt he help us win numerous league titles? didnt he help us get to fa cup and league cup finals and win them? what was it Alonso did again? sign for madrid?? FUCK OFF!! maybe this muppet is thinking about the team of the last decade on footy manager coz he doesnt know about the real world obviously.
Gee
your right about schole been so good and having a hand in everything which is why they put alonso in the team instead of him …..see doesnt that make sense
GHTT
It certainly does lol!! especially when your sat writing your team of the decade with a crack pipe in your mouth!!
hey geezers – anyone know anyone going to Upton Park tomorrow with a spare ticket? probably going to head down there and try my luck
why do i even bother reading most of this journo crap?! i guess we need to get our news from somewhere but for fuck’s sake, most of it is just drivel that angers me!
it crazy how so many supporters and abu’s alike seem to know how best to spend united’s money. where’s the ronaldo money? spend it all! spend it all!
fucking hell! do we really want united to go the city, chelsea, madrid, and even liverpool route, and just spend money on any big name floating on the market? didn’t united just have one of the most successful and profitable 3 year runs in the club’s history? united and fergie must be doing something right, i guess? anyway, ogden and the telegraph- idiots!!!
speaking of the right way to build a team vs the wrong way: may fergie find all the best youngsters at united and have them beat down those overpaid city twats in the carling cup. get in there welbeck, time you silenced your critics by shattering city’s lowly attempt at glory.
lastly- the marcotti team of the decade- where’s scholes?! evra and vidic have been with united since january of 2005-6 season. that may make it a little under 4 years at united chronologically, but as seasons go, including the current season that’s 5 years. are there really any better players in the world, much less the prem who are better at their positions? anyway, way cancel out their relevance when they’ve played at a higher level and won more trophies in their four chronological years at united than most players on that list?
GHTT
i reckon that if fergie is livid he wanted this ljajic lad not like what other people are making by insisting he’s not good enough. if the work permit was the reason for him not joining. i’m quite convinced that fergie has phoned the lad to inform him that he’ll join us in the summer so at the moment although it’s a big blow for him personally he should keep his level of performance which led to fergie signing both him and tosic and the work permit blocking what can be described as a dream move to the biggest club in the world!
gabrielle marcotti oh my why leave scholesy out in the midfield for the sake of an overrated player moving to the clusterfuck.
muggaz – No mate. Our Supporters club got the standard fucking TWO tickets. Piss take.
@ Gee, Lol! Classic
regarding to telegraph article i found that quite funny. since i can remember our 1st premiership trophy all the ABU including the journos said that united bought the success. even after glazer they still insist on that. so all gunner and pool supporter jump on the bandwagon to justify their inferiority complex against united.
but now journos said we lack transfer activity and ljajic deals make it like united really in debt shit. all along i believe united fund their tranfers through our success. i mean the money from winning cup after cup. i cant remember what year glazer take over but i believe even after that day united still pay megamoney fot lot of our star players.
the conclusion is journos and abu like to write and talk shite.
Dont you think if SAF didnt have full control like @Jo_ro said he would walk away? I just dont see SAF being the kind to sit back and let the power be taken out of his hands…that is not his style and that is why I dont believe it to be true
i dont believe this. we may never know what really happened with Ljajic, but i’m disappointed. Work permit or not. If i’m being honest i was really looking forward to having him at OT. the nonsense of the rise of Gibson and others is just plain bull crap. what rise? he’s scored 2 goals against spurs and he’s become a solution to our midfield problems.
We had a chance to get a real talent, and we’ve blown it. if its a WP issue surely the deal wouldnt have to be called off completely.
TBH the next genuine midfielder i’m looking forward to(that has that something special too) is ravel morrisson. it’ll take him a while but at this rate thats the only person we can be sure of.
slim
we dont know how he would have faired at united but the glazers are not bothered seeing the club get slowly stripped of all the assets. I bet the summer of 2008 was a dream summer for them. because it give them the excuse to sell ronaldo which they propably agreed in summer 2008 for the following year.
kaihnsn
but it is a joke how the media now say we are not buying big. when only in 2007 when their fav team arsenal when they had a title challenge in ronaldos awesome season they said man utd are only winning because they buy big, remember what the media said that arsenal would rule the world. I remember when they interviewed that former reading player whats his name oh yes dave kitson saying that the red ginger idiot.
now we are not buying big the media are going on and on with the glazers it is like 2005 all over again. I always thought this summer there is nothing out there to buy.
benzama I have never been a huge fan of overated player, but hey how many said fernando torres was overated when he was at atletico. ribery at nearly 27 his price is way over priced, villa and silva would be awesome but we needed to give nani anderson and berbatov players we payed huge prices for to show what they are made of this season, they are players united invested ready when ronaldo is gone and by now they should be doing the buisness.
Haha, the West Ham read is a joke – clubs always try to gee their fans up before a visit from the Champions
off topic
argentina vs s. korea
tevez should have a great view of his pal ji-sung running his arse off for south korea… from the subs bench, or better still from his couch in argentina.
fucking hell! ingerlund has a got the easiest chance to get through to the 2nd round. usa, algeria, slovenia??? no excuses now!
the whole thing just stinks, no matter how anyone tries to paint it. Another point i’d like to make is the fact that this debacle has caused such an uproar among fans. its not everday a manager of a top team will invest 10mill on an 18 year old player so obviously the guy is a real talent. not slating our young players but i doubt any of our youngsters would go for that price.
Pique was sold to barcelona for far less, so what are we talking about here, i guess fans around the world were finally waiting to see a young talented attacking midfielder join the ranks, but for now it wont happen.
Who knows SAF might have something lined up in jan or in the summer or even the academy noone knows really
Just like everyone else it would have been nice having a talented young player joining united and becoming a big hit, especially since we seem to be lacking in the attacking midfielder position.oh well he’s not the first and he wont be the last
@rooninho:
Don’t worry. My country, Greece, will give Tev a good spanking!
@costas
come on greece! i don’t think tevez will play much, as he’s slipped far down the pecking order for the argies.
is georgios samaras a big player for greece? last i heard of him he was doing alright with celtic.
@rooninho:
Yeah, Samaras is one of our better players. He is one of the few players we have who can give us a different dimension in attack. As you all know by know, our country likes to defend a lot!
I am also doubtful about how much impact Tevez will have on the World Cup finals. Who knows? He might have retired by then.
Nice to come up against Ji.
@costas
good luck, mate! that’s a strong group to be in with no easy matches. nigeria will want to do well on their native continent and south korea play solid team football and will be hard to break down. would love to see greece and s. korea go through instead of those cocky argies and that twat maradona.
Doomed we are all doomed I tell you!
What a load of shit “reported” in the telegraph article.
How is it a bad thing when a team makes a profit and spends what they earn by winning trophies?
@ slim
I know that your gutted about not signing ljajic but what have you or most of us actually seen of him? Do you recall the other next wonderkid who SAF looked at but said no thanks to?Freddie Adu anyone.
Thanks rooninho. I think we are just happy to be there. I just hope this time we are able to score a goal. I think Argentina and probably Korea will go through.
Should i say good luck England?
Maradona will go through because as i said recently, every circus needs a clown!
Jansdad
yes but it iust strange how united pulled out of the deal. we got to be real the glazers have finacially ruined united, and when ronaldo wanted to leave the glazers were so happy because it give them the excuse to sell him, when that old bastard deep down in his black heart thought summer 2008 was a dream summer, and he has always wanted to sell ronaldo I think even when he was happy here.
@ rooney the new king
I don’t get all the hysteria about this. £10 million is not a problem for Manchester United, I just read a direct quote from Mike Phelan ” We made a tentative approach to getting a work permit and word we got back from the Home Office was we couldn’t get that through in time to get Adem signed in January”
I reckon the move will be on in the summer.
It’s strange that a work permit can be gained for Tosic and not Ljalic who is a full international!
@ Alpha_RS
Ljajic hasn’t made his full international debut as yet.
Tosic has though and his doing well for them.
Just think his Ljajic saga has left a bad taste, the work permit argument just does not wash, they would have known full well they might not get permit until he plays for Serbia, they would have made the deal knowing full well that they might have to loan him out again. The way all this has been communicated has given a crap impression of the club, its not nice, especially for the kid.
Sorry just wanted to give my two cents, obviously it makes no difference, and I’M NOT speculating about finances – no one really knows that side of things, and I’m not really bothered because I support United the team – not any owner or shareholder.
Really feel sorry for the kid, and wondering why we haven’t heard anything from SAF. Something’s fishy about that…
