    Please keep the number 9 shirt Ron. There was only on CR7 and he was at United(and Portugal of course,). :D

    Hope there’s some truth to the Ozil rumors.

  2. aig alex is god says:

    We arent going to sign ozil. The press should stop talking Rubbish. Cleverley didnt do too badly on the tour. Surely SAF isnt going to loan him out

  3. doncobaino says:

    Ozil is not coming to United…. I wish he was but I am afraid not.

  4. wayne says:

    normally the bookies are not mugs last week the odds on utd signing ozil was around 6-1 this week 1-5 some bookies suspended betting so i don’t think this is all press

  5. aig alex is god says:

    Khedira has joined Real madrid

  6. bigphil2003 says:

    @aig – Cleverly’s done decent but I really don’t think he’s quite ready for more than cameo appearances and Cup games. He’s certainly not ready to step up and become the guy that plays when Scholesy doesn’t. Is Anderson? Time will tell, but I think it’s fair to assume that we can’t count on Hargreaves or even Carrick nowadays. I personally believe it’s about 50/50 whether we sign Ozil or not, and I think we could do alright without him, but I don’t think many would argue that he wouldn’t be a welcome addition to our midfield.

  7. aig alex is god says:

    @bigphil

    i get what you are saying but if cleverley is there atleast we have an option in midfield. i am not counting on carrick, hargreaves or anderson (likely to be left out by Fergie). That leaves us very short of options in midfield, Cleverley may not replace Scholesy but given a consistent run of games i am sure he will do well. Atleast it will help him gain confidence. Thats how he will learn and develop.

  8. CR7 > CR9 says:

    @Costas

    Yeah .. he should keep no. 9

    and we can say .. CR7 > CR9

  9. Wakey says:

    If SAF thinks Ozil is a player who will suit United and English football I do think he is someone we will go for. Although I suspect it will be transfer deadline day rather than before as he is a player who in 12months we could get for nothing.

    Leaving it late like Inter did with Sneijder will ensure a bargin fee as long as no0one else comes in early and starts a bidding war

  10. bigphil2003 says:

    Yeah I agree with you mate, I hope Cleverly doesn’t go out on loan cos I’d like to see him get some experience with us and he’s an extra option to have. Good thing is we won’t have too many games this side of Christmas where we’ll have to play 4-5-1, so our midfield won’t be quite as stretched and hopefully Anderson will be back properly fit come the business end of the season.
    If Cleverly is to be loaned out I’d much prefer him to get a bit of premiership experience, but that doesn’t always work out.
    Still, I wouldn’t write off the idea of Fergie buying a new midfielder, but I wouldn’t say it’s anywhere near definite either

  11. Wakey says:

    @AIG

    Come on enough of us have pointed out that Anderson and Hargreaves will in no way be left out as we have 25 players exactly atm. The only way they will is if we make more signings when it may be something that needs done. Personally though I think Diouf is more likely to go on loan to a prem club to release a spot for say Ozil than one of these players left out

  12. aig alex is god says:

    @Wakey

    Anderson isnt fit till September. Even then he has been out for 7-8 months so he will take time to get back to his best and as for Hargreaves the next thing about him you hear will be that he has retired. Sorry hargo. No hope of him ever returning

  13. curtis says:

    I hope there’s some truth to the ozil rumours cause i think it will provide the optimism some fans are lacking and give some our midfielders a kick up the ass like carrick and anderson when he comes back.. But sadly we won’t sign him, i don’t remember the last time the so called ‘press’ knew about a signing we made before it happened i mean we always very secretive and only once its wrapped up will anyone know.. And too many people apparently ‘know’ we will sign him so bull if you get my drift lol
    Anyway hope we keep cleverley he looks 5-10 games away from finding consistency and form he showed at watford last season which was excellent better than what carrick offered us :-)
    Lastly poor Dinho he shoulda come to us fergie and giggs woulda kept him in shape and he may well have still been the best player in the world cause in his peak at barca messi now couldn’t get near him imo

  14. D says:

    I really hope that no-one thinks the ashley young video is genuine.

  15. JD says:

    Gd article on holding midfielders – http://www.zonalmarking.net/2010/07/30/central-midfield-role/ – has a good mention of Carrick and what he can do for the team. Definitely not worth selling him as this form will come again.

  16. Wakey says:

    @curtis

    While I wouldn’t actually be surprised if while everyone is talking about the likes of Ozil if we suddenly unviel a surprise signing that’s had no real talk going on, when it comes to under the radar moves its usually people who aren’t really known on the world stage. Players like Berba and Valencia are two that the press knew about well in advance of any deal. And the papers had the Benzema and Villa bids before anything offcial came to light. It helps that there are so few top players and the media employ a scattergun approach that even if they had no basis for a story they run with it enough to be able to say “Look we got it right”

  17. mdubya says:

    khedira went to real for something like 12 mil? that doesn’t seem very much, he was the engine of stuttgart’s midfield last year and was way more than serviceable for the germans in the cup. i wonder what kind of price that means for ozil? who was really flashy, 18-20 mil range? man it would be awesome to have a player like that.

  18. FlechTHEMAN says:

    North American Reds should defo go to ESPN and rate the videos on United after their sumptuous dismantling of the MLS all stars.
    UK Reds rightly give the press a lot of crap, but the only way to get ESPN to recognize the importance of putting on proper news is to positively rate all good stories about United. The MLS color commentary from Judy Foudy was such crap, with her referring the lads as ManU repeatedly. Sadly, the same was true of the live commentary. I woke the dog several times screaming at their lack of understanding.
    At anyrate, here is a link to a ESPN video rating United and the quality of the players coming through. Click on 5 stars to let them know you dig this stuff!
    http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=null&categoryid=2731137
    Sorry about the adds, no help for it.

  19. Dave Mack says:

    Here’s a post I made in response the UNITED RANT article you linked us to. I don’t know why anyone other the City would have anything to do with that site.

    Your comment that “Ferguson doesn’t get” the relationship between value and success at OT is without doubt the single most ignorant thing I’ve ever read about United on any site.
    Eveything Fergie has done over the last 25 years and continues to do is about sustainable year in year out success while building huge value. (Forbes confrm that today MUFC are the most valuable sprting club in the world.)
    Pretnding your a United supporter is an embarrsement to all of us who really are

  20. mdubya says:

    dave, that kick inthe grass blogger is just as shit when it comes to thinking he knows better than sir alex. dude’s a twat too.

    i’m an american united fan, fletchtheman and i totally get your frustration with the man u thing. i didn’t really know about how and why it came about until i started reading sites like this. most of the americans who cover the sport think because they played it they automatically know what’s going on. i don’t think they continually mean to spite anyone by referring to us in that way but ignorance isn’t always an excuse. either way their commentary and analysis teams are utterly embarrassing

  21. willierednut says:

    AIG – I think it’s time to put the Ozil rumours to bed, until we hear from United, or Bremen.

  22. Dave Mack says:

    @mdubyw…. I listen a lot of US commentary and get mad at the “ManU” stuff as well. I have to remind myself that it’s just ignorance and in fact as Scott said the other night… it was great to hear commentators speaking about our club, SAF, players, history, entertainment culture etc etc, with such genuine respect.

    Makes such a nice change from the jealous ABU stuff we so often read and hear here!!

  23. FlechTHEMAN says:

    @mdubya and Dave Mack
    I completely get the problem with MANU from US and other non UK commentators. If you look at the top of the TV, almost all teams are reduced to 2-4 letter code. For United, like it or not, it has been MANU for years. This is unfortunate, but largely understandable. I am sure ESPN does it for convenience, not because they are closet Chelsea fans, ha ha, but seriously, I am really not a conspiracy fan. We really do need to educate, not humiliate. I’ll bet if a couple of thousand emails went in to ESPN this would stop pretty quick. U rarely hear it from UK commentators, hell, even Steve McManaman calls us United. I am pretty sure Alexi Lalas was pretty obviously uncomfortable with the term if you look at his reactions on the halftime show. Whatever you think of Lalas, he always used Man United during that segment and was generally pissed at the lack of spine from the “all stars”. PS, mdubyw I was never a fan of G-dubya, but I really laughed at your call sign due to the similarity!
    Keep the faith, stay United!

  24. Dave Mack says:

    It’s a good idea Fletch THE man. It wouldn’t take that many e-mails. American networks are so sensitive to “causing offence”.

    Fox got rid of a Chelsea supporting anchor man for a call-in show thanks to Dipper supporters in NY saying he referred to them as murders!!

  25. RedScot says:

    Great links as per normal.On Rom.
    i am only going to comment on a few, two in fact to save being accused of being the Rain man.
    I think that was a dig at the lad with the fantastic memory, or some one with a retarded vision that drove the Car only on Friday.
    Neither is truely correct. Just a lad that pays attention and loves to learn full stop.

    Evening Mews.<——- thats not a misspeliing its deliberate. They like most sites on the Tinternet go for hits and Traffic. As I wrote /typed/said To King Eric( awa sunning himself on some greek island) who keeps banging on about Talk Sport.
    Its to get listeners viewer's reader's mate, thats what those sites are about.
    k
    If anybody on here can can justify why we dont need a player like Hesmut Ozil, please stand up and explain why.
    if you care to look back on this site Rom, I said after One game in the World cup. WOW on Ozil.
    It can be proven if you wish. lol Made for Manchester united.
    I guess thats the Evening Mews article shown up for what they are. You keep posting they survive.

    United Rant. I sorta feel Grrrrr,He/ She must be American, no passion or honesty. IT MAKES my blood boil with fury.
    And you no what the cunts dare not put up the Stats and acheivements that MAN as claimed with his teams for your CLUB.
    And rebuilding give the man a chance, recognise something familar there?
    .

  26. Wakey says:

    @RedScott

    You are going on the world cup alone though which isn’t always the best place to judge. Nicky Butt was one of the best players of the world cup a few back (was it japan/Korea) and while he was a solid player he played above himself there.

    I don’t religiously watch german football but do watch some and while he can put great performances but he can go missing for whole games. As I said on another thread he is young so it may not be a major issue and perhaps the world cup is what makes things click but if there are doubts it is there..

    We should also remember SAF tracked him as a youth player and when he moved united were the only bug club who made an enquiry but a bid was decided against. So perhaps there’s something else we don’t see that’s keeping bids away.

    Don’t get me wrong I would like Ozil at United but if SAF chooses not to bid then I trust his judgement
