I am not sure it is a smoke screen. I do think the resale value theory is just complete non sense. United dont sign players so that they can sell at a higher price. I am think of it, Fergie will be around for say atmost 2-3 years? The younger players we have now will be hitting their best forms and any new players would fit that as well.
