Soccerlens reflect on the idea of football ‘francises’

I never thought about it that way.Good article,by the way.
Penguin United article is shit. All that and not one mention of Rooney!
Well, he was great both seasons so there was no need to draw the contrast!
penguin, i agree with your smokescreen theory. no one knows how to play games like sir alex.
another reason i agree is the purchase of berba, i find it too easy to say he is merely an exception, especially when spurs were driving the price up constantly. if they were following this new age policy, united would have told levy to f*ck off.
i was the second shooter on the grassy knoll
I am not sure it is a smoke screen. I do think the resale value theory is just complete non sense. United dont sign players so that they can sell at a higher price. I do think if the policy is indeed true, it is Fergie planning long term to make sure that when he leaves United, the person taking over has the best possible state. I am think of it, Fergie will be around for say atmost 2-3 years? The younger players we have now will be hitting their best forms and any new players would fit that as well. Following on from that, I do think Berbatov was signed to replace Ronaldo in a way.
Just read Vital football Chelski blog and they were commending the age restriction policy that we have. They wished they had something similar… (God knows they need it) LOL
For my part, I think the under-26 policy is a smokescreen, designed to bring down asking prices for established players and pour cold water on the rumour mill.
I’ve set out my conspiracy theory in full here.
