During the flamboyant ceremony to welcome Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid, he gave a mention to the fans and manager who have supported him during his six years at the club.
He also revealed that Ferguson has his eye on a third successive Champions League final and is hoping to meet Ronaldo’s new team in the final which will be played in Madrid.
“I have to say thank you to all the supporters, to the boss, my friends and team-mates,” said Ronaldo. “I was six years at the club and, of course, I have friends there. I have great relationships with all the people there. But the people understand my decision and respect that. They knew it was my dream to play in Madrid and of course it’s a great challenge now. I am going to miss many things about Manchester. But this is life, this is my new home and my new club and I will give 100% here. My relationship with Alex Ferguson was always good and it will stay that way forever. It would be fantastic to play against United. Sir Alex joked with me about that, he told me he wanted to play against me in the final in Madrid. I’ll put Evra against you, to kick you. I hope so. This is now my club, but I have a good relationship with Manchester and I wish all the best for the team and for Alex Ferguson.”

Man Utd News 24/7

Oh yeah lets have this final. One-nil down with a goal from Ronaldo and then a quick fire double from Rooney in injury time to win the cup. Now that would be something.
Why is he talking about United at his unveiling in Madrid? He will miss United more than he thinks.
he was questionned
I hope that cunt Tevez was seeing that
LOL at that pic. It’s like a politician talking! Why did Fergie tell him our game plan? Get ready Ronniey boy! Pat takes no prisoners!
Biasedly: i wont miss him Unbiasedly: i will miss him
Best of luck Ron but watch your back bcause UNITED is coming to town to win the CL
My god , Ronaldo is a saint compared to tevez. Surely he could have shown this commitment more this season though , to leave us with a great memory instead of slapping the ground in frustration !
good luck ronnie..ul be a massive loss..but we will be a biiger loss for you im afraid, viva ronaldo
We will Haaland you Ronnie.
Beware Project Mayhem.
by the time thechampions league final roles around i might wanna kick him
but fair play to th elad he’s worked hard grew and is getting the respect he earned
tevez on the other han
i hope berbatov gets a life time ban for scoring a hatrick against city and celabrating by beating you to a bloody mess with the match ball
GHTT That would be brilliant.
Why is everyone saying we will beat Madrid in the final. They will not make it to their own final. They won’t get past the quarters. Their “project” will fail.
id miss berbatov because of his ban but what a story to tell my grandchildren
Brilliant! I can almost see that scene between Sir Alex & Ronnie.
Evra’s gonna dust him!
Although I want Barcelona in the final, and no other! Ronnie can watch on while we exact revenge!
Don”t ever think that Evra will kick the shit out of him, I’d love to do it myself.
We will meet Barca in the final again anyway.
Ronaldo will miss us a lot, far more than he will ever let on. But this was his dream, and fair play hes living out his dreams. Despite all his tantrums and other bullshit, he will be missed by us too
But we have lost massive players in the past, and we never replicate, but change for the better.
“I have to say thank you to all the supporters, to the boss”
Different team…. Still one boss! nice one ron, hand on heart good luck to you mate..
Here’s an interesting theory on a replacement for Ronaldo
http://aussiered.wordpress.com/2009/07/07/fergie-may-have-already-replaced-ronaldo/
Any comments
2day for the first time I feel sad that Ronnie has gone, it has finally dawned on me how much we will miss him on the pitch, especially as we did not get a similar level of replacement…
Good luck kid, see u in the final!
go on mad pat! give him kick for me!
what a wab
Who’d have thought that the whole “Ronaldo Saga” would end as well as this. He’s shown himself to be a decent guy. He’s said nothing but good things about the club and its pretty obv the respect he has for Fergie. He loved Utd, he just wanted Madrid more. Who can blame him for that ? He looked genuinely so happy today…so im pleased for him. Great players come and go. He cant be replaced but we’ll move on and change things up. We should just consider ourselves lucky that we witnessed his finest years.
Good luck and see you in Madrid…watch out for Pat!
ronnie i hate to admit it but ill miss u mate! u showed us a gr8 time at united despite all ur drama ur a true gr8! hope we gte barca in the semis kick into a bloody pulp! then beat madrid in the final 2-1 ronaldo scores and rooney for a brace! tevez u ugly midget u were gr8 but u never disrespect the club tht made u good luck in the europa league asshole
Well said Ronny, nice to see you show some respect to the club and manager that nurtured you the past 6 years.
All the best, but United will still be one-upping Real regardless.
Good luck Ronaldo … of course not for games against us
Let’s see how you play(& behave) without Fergie to look after you…
The one thing that I always liked in Ronaldo despite all his crying or diving was the hard work he puts in during practise. He’s a freak when it comes to fitness and we were lucky to have him fully fit most of the time.
If only Rooney & Owen could learn that from him !
i think hes like a spoilt little kid, while he was in manchester and wanted to be in madrid, everything was “OK” he had his eye on a different toy, now he has the toy he wants, he is overwhelmed with joy so everything is great! so overwhelmed that he got wot he wanted, hes full of compliaments for the old toy he didnt want anymore. u could tell the last year he played for us he wasnt interested, it might seem obvious he has a great deal of respect for SAF, but does respect come in the form of towel snatching? look, at the end of the day he is a fantastic footballer (all be it with some very bad habbits) and he did do a lot for r club, but like other fans have said, hell miss us more than us miss him. and by the way, madrid WILL NOT be in the champ league final next year u can count on it! to many super stars that would rather take that shot than pass. i keep having the same dream regularly wher Ron keeps slide takling Kaka to get the ball then Kaka does the same to RON and it wakes me up pissing myself laffing every time. i wish him more luck than tevez tho thats all i can add. ps fuzzy; Owen couldnt learn that from him as they wernt at the club the same time unfortunatley. RED ARMY!!!!!
Screw the finals, I want to knock these fuckers out at the first opportunity.
does any of you know anything about obertan?
can he be good enough? he has something about him but thats in the french league might be different in pl.
8 mill apparently. i m sure sir alex knows.
They wont get past the last 16, as usual
Oh, btw, this is a better picture, and definitely a better title
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/2520669/This-is-thanks-to-Man-United.html?OTC-RSS&ATTR=Football
I’m happy for ronny, you can’t blame him for leaving united, as he has supported Real all his life (I think). It’s like if I was to play for Real Madrid, became the best player in the world, and then Manchester United, the team I have supported since I can remember, put a bid in for me. You can’t turn that down can you? Good Luck to him.
Ronaldo will always be missed. I went to Japan for the Club World Cup & and his assist for Rooney to score plus their celebratory hug which was on Japanese sports newspaper is now framed & hung in my home together with the match tickets. Adios, Ronaldo!
Too many egos on one pitch it just wont work! (I hope) As for a United – Madrid final the closest ur gona get to that ronaldo mate is watching it on ur wide screen at home, as u’s wont make it into the last 16 never mind the final! P.S Thanks for the memories Ronnie ur skill and brilliant goals will be missed. Good Luck. COME ON UNITED!!!!!!!
It will be interesting for him at RM. I dont think he will have players of the calibre of Wayne Rooney unselfishly makiing him look good.
Make no mistake Rooney was the real star, and at RM Kaka and Benzama will want the glory. i predict RM will be aweful next year. Ronaldo can also look forward to having another punchup with RUDD
RM attack was always fine, it was there defense which was aweful, so nothing will change. I predict they will finish 6th in an aweful league with only 2 real teams
2 years from now RM will be begging someone to take Ronaldo off their hands.
erm… for all the tantrums he threw on the pitch last year, i will still gonna miss him…
this is the first time i feel sad too about Ronaldo leaving OT..
but fingers crossed, we will get a better replacement.. that is just the nature of this world.
United> Ronaldo
It will be good for Manchester United to meet Real Madrid in the CL finals next year. As to beating RMadrid, it is possible because we have SAF and a team that will not be daunted by Real Madrid, Ronaldo or no Ronaldo. Stronger teams have been beaten by ‘seemingly’ weak teams many a time.
The press conference after his presentation was ruthless. They even asked him if he was going to take the free kicks for his new team (as he always did for ManUtd). His new coach has said Ronaldo will play as a striker, so they asked him if he would be angry in that position. He wanted the 7 jersey as he considers it lucky but Raúl did not yield. The transcript is in their official website.
i don’t know what exactly to say but when i watched it this morning it made me smile.
i am not that impressed with all he’s said so far about our club but it is nice to hear it anyway.
i don’t love Kaka anymore because he plays for Madrid and i won’t wish Ronaldo good luck there.
You are all hypocrites to do it because when Madrid eventually becomes successful in Europe you will sing a different kind of song.
So soft.
Reading his post transfer feelings about United, i do now personally feel he’s had the most gracious and gratuitous exit from us. Hmm.. now kinda will miss the lad.. all the best for him..
will miss his brilliance and goals. but will not miss him. i hope they don’t even get past the last 16. barca to win the la liga, us to win the premier league, and also a revenge barca v united final again.
After reading this respect is due for coming out and saying this.He didnt HAVE to say it and he has gone up in my estimations now.
He always said he wanted to play for Real and he gave us a pretty good last season which helped us win the 18th.
His exit could have been handled differently but with such a big name star there was always going to be controversy.
thnks ronnie 4 the memories.bst of luck at real.but remember the red devil juggernaut wl keep on roaring 4ward and yeah tevez sucks.
hope that happens.ill be happy to be frank. But i would rather face barca. What a spectacle, Man Utd vs barca in Champions League Final 2009-10 at the Santiago Bernebau in Madrid.hope perez and Madrid ROT IN HELL!!!!!
Yeah! It is fun to listen to the old time jokes! By the way do check out this article on the Proud owners on Jersey Number 7 at United!
http://11reds.com/opinion/the-legend-of-seven/
he pissed me off at times but better to madrid than to citeh …Tevez is such a cunt..!
We are talking about Real Madrid not reaching the Champions League Final.
There is a very real chance that United will not reach the Champions League Final either.
Real Madrid have more chance of reaching the final that United simple because of the players signed. How would we really fair against Ronaldo, Kaka, Benzema, and potentially Ribery? With a midfield like ours against a midfield like that?
He will miss the RED SHIRT!!! MArk my wordsssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
If we get to the final again it will be an unbelievable achievement, 3 in a row! But I don’t have such high expectations with our current squad
Ronaldo might want to take a look at Madrids defence, it was shocking last season, they havent improved it and they didnt have an issue with scoring goals last year. Ronaldo will give them less tracking back than they got last year.
Another thing Ronaldo might also like to notice is the European Cups on display, dispite Real Madrid having 9 trophies, they have only won it the same number of times as United since 1968.
as a utd fan, i’ll say we’ll miss Ronaldo, there not a lot of players like him around, but as a team we will still be the best in the world. And something for the spanish as i live in spain. Esperamos que el Real Madrid gana la Liga con Ronaldo pero la Champions para Man Utd. in spain my favourite team has always been Real Madrid and I did enjoy seeing Beckham play here, now I hope I can still watch Ronaldo’s shows and hopefully we’ll beat him on his own ground next May. Good luck Ronnie
I’d rather see Vidic kick Tevez…
Gudjohnsen
maybe everyne can kick tevez just to show united are a team and no one player is bigger than the club and everyone fom sir alex to the tea lady are part of the manchester unted family. they eat together they work together so maybe everyone from sir alex to the tea lady should kick tevez together
to show that united are united
its only when i saw him in the white strip of madrid that it as finally kicked in we won’t see him in a red shirt again. For all the comments on this and many other sites about the pros and cons of his departure the reality is there to see now the departure of a player we first saw as a raw 17 year old who we watched mature and develop into a true world great in 6 years.
Of course he as faults with is attitude but lets not forget he is only 23 and recent comments from him show deep down he loved the club and fans.We will miss him and he will miss us all i can do is thank him for making watching football so enjoyable and wish him luck and i for one will applaud him when and if he returns to old trafford to play just like i have done with other returning heros
Paddy Kenny just failed a drug test
if rio gets 8 months for just missing one
Kenny is in serious trouble
Goodmoring everyone.
@kinkyp: Same here mate. The nostalgia kicked in for me when i watched the 08-09 Season Review. United will probably emerge from all this as a cohesive unit, but we will miss those special magic moments that he could create for us. As far as the CL Final is concerned, we have no way of knowing. Of course Madrid will be pushed heavily to go for it, but i think that Barca and a few others might have a say in this. But, i don’t see the Big 4 having the same success as they have had in recent seasons.
@GHTT: No mate. What Rio did was far worse. He played for Manchester United. If the FA had anything to do about it, they would ban UNited players for life for exceeding the speed limit. I say Kenny gets 5 months off maximum.
http://www.mousebreaker.com/games/ronaldo2real/playgame
my lst post was ment to be total bollox
he’ll get a fine
miss the first 4 games and save a peno on his return and be a returning hero
not like drug addict and as ive heard fron rival fans a drug dealer rio
id love to see what the real out come is on this cause the lenght of rios ban is the worst thing out of all the bad things that the fa have done
good luck to the lad, and thanks for everything! but we’ll beat you in the final
@AlphaRS
What precisely is wrong with our midfield? People keep saying our midfield was shown up by Barcelona. No it wasn’t. As I’ve said elsewhere on this site name me a player who put in a more dynamic engine room display than Darren Fletcher did during the Champions League semis? Do you really think Xavi and Iniesta would’ve had such an easy ride if not for the Italian referee’s mistake? If not for Owen Hargreaves being unfit?
You name some attackers and…? We all know Madrid can attack. Its their ability to defend and to win the ball back when they lose it thats the problem. If they were planning to buy Essien instead of Alonso I’d be worried. But this is just the same old Perez. No time for Makelele’s when you can get Beckham’s.
Man Utd at full strength are STILL better as a team than anyone in Europe besides perhaps Barcelona and next year we’ll win the Treble again and prove it. Hopefully against Los Galacticos in their own damn ground next May!
It was the worst when you think that in the same year Edgar Davids got 5 months for a positive test and Adrian Mutu got 7. But you know the drill. United were becoming a bit too dominant for some people’s liking at the time. In a way, the Arsenal Invincibles were born out of this ban. We should have won that title.
Cannot say about word about Ronaldo. He was an absolute asset to us but it’s now time for him to move on. For all his critics I have just one question. Have you ever been 25 years of age with your whole life in front of you before?
United4eva – Spot on again mate. Says so much about their defence when I hear this morning they are after Richard Dunn.
The negativity from United “fans” last night on the Paddy Crerand show was laugable.
Richard Dunne? Real? Thats a joke if ever there was one.. its their midfield thats the problem, not defense.. the midfield practically does not exist.. unless they make some buys in that area and manage to somehow blend it all together its hard to see them do anything to challenge Barca..
But in the Champions league anything is possible.. Liverpool managed to win it while being so rubbish in the league!
@ King Eric
Negativity regarding what?
@ AlphaRS
too depressing, mate. maybe you need a break ?
I think we all know that Ronaldo is going to live up to his hype – I think he IS gonna justify the transfer fee
Ronaldo has gone to his dream club, and you can’t slate him for that.
There’s no animosity from me anymore, there was originally but I guess that was just the hurt coming out. We’ve lost the World’s best player, those who deny it are simply that, in denial.
I only hope we don’t have to play against him, although I am confident that Rio, Vida and Pat would know how to stop him after playing against him for six years.
Viva Ronaldo
I think what AlphaRS means, is that our attacking minded midfielders can’t match theirs. But it’s tough to say if that’s enough. If you remember, the first bunch of Galacticos were strong as their weakest link, Makelele. Once he left, the team deteriorated. If Real do find a way to balance these players with their DM, then they are going to be a handful.
They will be relying on Lassane Diarra + another midfield purchase (maybe Alonso), I think they could do with Mascherano
I will give 100% here.
So you didn’t in united that means?
Mascherano, Alonso or Essien. I think that they will need something special there too. And at the defence they did buy Raul Albiol, so they have adequate cover there.
Huntelaar’s name is rumored again. I think our main priority should be another winger.
Ronaldo’s actions and words do seem to validate the view I have always had on him and this situation. That being that it was a heart vs head situation for him, he wasn’t unhappy playing for us and if it was any other side he would still be with us BUT its his dream club and like most people their heart won out. If/When he leaves Real I wouldn’t be too surprised if he ends up back with us (if he is still a player we want)
@AlphaRS
Footballs about a team not just the attack. Even with the players we have lost and even if you don’t rate the replacements so far we have a much more balanced side than Real currently have.
spot on Costas,i think we need a winger and not obertan.i would prefer Sanchez or silva.both willcome max for 22-25mn pounds and are 20 and 23 respectively and they are very talented
Costas, we have Nani, Park, Valencia I take it we will end up with Obertan and Tosic we seem quite well endowed in that area, personally I think we care crying out for a centre mid.
I have typed this earlier but mis typed my e-mail address, I think out wide we are Ok we have Nani, Park, Valencia and I take it we will end up with Obertan personally for me we are crying out for a centre mid.
Sorry and Tosic that makes 5.
stephen u r right bt valencia can play CAM and silva can play CAM too so it is a benefit for us.Nani has been disappointing and park is hardworking but lacks quality
I agree but can you see Fergie using Valencia centrally, because I can’t we need a specialist in there not a jack of all trades.
yes i think valencia and park will play on the wings.tosic needs time and Nani is disappointing.plus which CAM is available for the right price
Van der Vaart would be a decent signing in my book.
That boy ronaldo makes england look shite, good luck Ronny thanks for the memories.
yes but he has been disappointing at Real although i admit they are a complete circus.i think we should sign Hernanes, who is a brazilian midfielder and plays as a central midfielder ,that will allow carrick to push forward more.Van Der Vaart is a good option too but i think Wesley Sneijder is better
Obertan had his medical yesterday, according 2 the sun, 8 million the price.
And so it finally ends …. and ends well I’m glad to say. I’ve watched United since the ’60′s and coming from Belfast I don’t have to tell you who my first idol was! But I loved Ronaldo and think in time he may well be recognized as the gretest player ever to have worn a United shirt.
That said, he’ll never have a season like ’07/’08 and I don’t fancy Real Madrid’s chances of pulling that bunch of egos into a consistent winning team anytime soon. Hope we draw them in the group stages of the CL.
Goodbye Ronnie and thanks for the memories. VIVA RONALDO!
Whether it’s a central midfielder or a winger, i feel that we do need another avenue for goals from the midfield area. Van der Vaart could be it. I fancy him more than Sneijder actually. I have been begging for Silva, but that doesn’t look likely at all.
Me too thinks Silva is unlikely and if he goes he may go to real(those assholes).we need a mid who can scre 15 goals atleast like lampard,bt i cant think of a proven goalscoring midfielder that we can sign
I have always liked Arteta, but he doesn’t seem to be on Fergies’s radar.
I like Silva but could he handle the physcial nature of the Premiership?
no mate Arteta is good bt everton wont sell him.how about Ivan Rakiti.i m sure u must have heard of him.jst 21 yrs and plays for schalke
Thinks so mate the blond lad?
@willierednut
How can you possibly believe anything The Sun print? It’s utter bollocks.
yes .he is a croatian
This is the only time I am going off topic.
Going back to the “hit, miss or maybe” thread yesterday. I saw Scarface for the first time yesterday. What a film. It’s up there with Goodfellas. Now all I got to watch are the Godfather trilogy and Casino.
@MUFC the Religion
Scarface is behind The Godfather 1 & 2, don’t waste your life with the third.
Casino is better than Goodfellas, but they’re very similar movies!
Good choice though
@Mickey casino better than Goodfellows no way.
United hav’nt denied the story and Goodfellows best gangster film of all time.
@willierednut Since when do United deny any transfer story? The Sun prints nothing but bollocks.. every season since Ronaldo signed for us The Sun said he was off to Real Madrid, then when he finally does they claim ‘you heard it here first, another exclusive etc’
Read the articles in there, 90% of the time they don’t even have a quote to back it up.
In this case there are quotes etc, but what about the rest of the time.. I can’t believe people read that rag and take it seriously
Casino is a poor mans Goodfellows, like Tevez is a poor mans Owen.
Spot on stephen casino not in the same league. The sun do write a lot of bollox, but i do fink the rite wiv this one for a change.
willierednut
i dont know ifthey are right or not
but i find it hard to believe a player arsenal were linked to for the last 2 years has did/passed a medical at united and an 8 million fee has bein agreed et its only the sun who knows this and even if mr. sky sports news picks up the sun news paper this morning and seen this news he still wont put it on his show
looking for eric
the greatest film of all time
On topic or you’ll be deleted.
@GHTT The papers do talk crap but thats all weve got to rely on till the club say some fink, blanc confirmed we are in 4 em.
@United4eva
The Manchester United midfield lacks creativity and goals.
Are Fletcher and Hargreaves in the same league as Xavi and Iniesta?
I think they are hardworking and tough tackling midfielders. But are they really in the same class as Xavi and Iniesta? I don’t think they are.
I am not just naming some attackers. I am naming some of the best attackers in the world. Coupling that with people mentioning how Real Madrid won’t get to the final. The point I am making is that Real Madrid have a better chance of reaching the final that Manchester United. Based on signing those players alone.
I agree with your reference to the defensive frailties that Real Madrid have. They never have had time to defend. But perhaps they are just thinking that they can score more goals than they concede. That was our very own mentality in 1999.
Manchester United at full strength without Ronaldo is a different proposition. I think we will see alot more draws next season. But I am hoping that SAF does not go back to 4-4-2 and finds some way of using Rooney in the middle. Perhaps a 4-2-3-1 formation.
@Costas
Yes that is what I mean.
fair enough, he said a bunch of comments that were full of respect which you cant complain about.
now fergie can we have some replacements please.
Tony Starks – Re: United in general next season and the Owen transfer. The idiots were saying we should have got Villa, Benzema, Kaka and the like.
Godfather 1 and 2, then Goodfellas, forget the rest – Casino is good (the first 40 minutes are technically even better than Goodfellas) but it’s basically just a re run of Goodfellas.
Hope Sir Alex is not planning on playing Wazza as an attacking midfielder.
I think SAF can play a 442 formation in the EPL, but in ECL he has to change it into a 4321 or 41231 or even 4312 system. we get overloaded in midfield when we play 442. and as we all know, it’s important to dominate midfield to win the game. with regards to CR7 i think he’s showed a lot of class in the way he’s talked about his 6 years at United and i wish him well.
i think RM will be stronger and will probably get to the semis at least. i think that it will probably be Spain vs England again in the last 4. SAF needs
creativity and energy in midfield to impose their game on their opponents.
having Flecther, Carrick and Anderson looks promising. However, Anderson
natural game is more of an attacking midfield player, whilst Fletcher is more of the playmaker. With Fletcher acting as the defensive midfield destroyer who rises for the big games this combination can work well together. I think Park could also come into midfield and attack from deep. where his energy and dynamism can be put to good use. these four could work well together as each brings something different to the team. but with Anderson, Fletcher and Park they have boundless energy and stamina which is what the midfield need.
if we had a fit Hargreaves we would be in an even better position. so maybe SAF needs to get another midfield player in the Hargreaves mould.
next season the team will play more as a cohesive unit and i think more goals will come from midfield too.
Its great that his comments are of a good nature. We could ask nothing more of him, VIVA RONALDO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and as for midget fuck argentine…I hope your ugly fucking face ruins your childrens lives…
ronny will score a brace in every RM game but their defender leak 3..lol
good luck ronny..surely i will miss your trick on the pitch and some sorts of entertainment.
Well said Ronnie.. you will be missed mate. Turned out to be a class act afterall. When Madrid implode we’ll welcome you back with open arms, you’ll know in a few months who the Real godfather of world football is: Manchester United.
final? by the time that team of “superstars” gel’s together they will be out of the group stage and into the uefa cup
tevez and ronaldo are mad to leave united its just stupid wat have real won in the last couple and wat have united one and there is ur answer its obvious its just for the money and a man utd vs real final would be awesome uniteed would show them hu is best and tht ronaldo is deffinetly a twat
It kind of bothers me how he kissed the badge already, but then again this has been his dream for a while. And while we may feel his departure this season, in the long run he will surely miss us more. I do wish him luck though, as he undoubtedly gave us the best years of his career.
Ronaldo has always been honest in my opinion. He has never been a politician. I remember him saying he wanted to be a Madrid player one day far before becoming a world bitting best. He served us for three years at his best, contributing 6 major trophies in his 6 years at united. He costed united only 12mln and returned 80mln. Remember he has always served week-in week-out. Good luck Ronnie!!!
UNITED FOREVER!
no better team to take down ron than united
it can happen : )
