Ron: United Fans Intimidate City and Liverpool

Cristiano Ronaldo has complained about the lack of support received by Real Madrid fans when the team isn’t play well, and asks them to be more like Manchester United fans.

“We know that we have the duty to put on a show but sometimes it’s not possible,” said Ronaldo. “We always try but at times the team are not playing well and the fans could give us more support. The Manchester United fans, for example, were very intimidating for Liverpool or Manchester City in those matches. I think that if our supporters tried to do that it would be much better for everyone and would give the players a big boost.”

  2. devil@singapore says:

well said. juz look at é recent fulham game. fantastic support. make me feel so proud to be a man utd fans.

  3. Fze123 says:

Not all fans are the same, Ron. Probably 80% of Madrid fans are glory hunters. They will never be like Utd fans, nor will they support him like we did after the 06 WC, if things go bad for him. They’re clowns who go to The Circus they call the bernabu. Also, rivalry in la liga is not as intense and fierce as it is here. Intimidation between football fans in the premier league is simply a norm.

Best away fans in the country.

  5. vishnu1729 says:

he is a showy porny…he tells all this to get attention…i hate him more when he starts to say abt our club being a fascist….may be he wishes to rejoin us in future…

  6. wayne says:

i think he misses playing for us and has a clear affection for the club and fans

  7. Aig alex is god says:

Agree with ronny.sure he is sayin it from the bottom of his heart.the support he received from united fans in 06 when whole of england was against him excellent. Same thing last season when he was injured and was worried how the fans would treat him after his summer antics.when he came on against villareal he got a standing ovation. Madrid fans are idiots, most of them.one bad half of football and the boos start and white handkerchiefs come out.

  8. mo says:

i think it would easier all round if he just rejoined us lol

  9. READ CAREFULLY WHAT I says:

WHEREVER YOU MAY WANDER, THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME.

  10. Ashish says:

    What a fantastic compliment !
    Cheers Ron…

  11. karun says:

Kinda of tired of these “ronny still loves United” stories by now. If he was so happy here he should have stuck around a little longer. These compliments are pointless and a tad bit annoying because we’re missing his spark right now.

  12. MG says:

    MANCHESTER UNITED

ronaldo and real madrid and fans blah blah blah

  13. rooninho says:

i guess they don’t sing, “that boy ronaldo, he makes england look shite” over in the bernabeau, do they ronny?

it’s like he left the most beautiful and best wife in the world, and instead chose to be with some over hyped, plastic, paris hilton like, skank of a celebrity lady. then he says to her, can you please do it like my wonderful ex-missus used to?

as they say, the only place you go after manchester united is down. he was a fool for leaving, but he’s still alright in my book though.

  14. sppibsihmkcrkg says:

ronaldo left to join a team he had wanted to play for since being a child, get over it. He does have a genuine affection for united and our fans and always will. The difference is we don’t have talented england players who play abroad to enhance their skills then get chance to then join their favourite english club so for us our perspective is different- and yes i know ronaldo is portugese and madrid are spanish. He did well for us, we did well out of him and he left in a well mannered way, no slagging off or name calling unlike that ugly twat who went city. It’s a shame we lost him, but we are united and we will continue to be the best. Good luck ronny and thanks for0the memories

  15. mufc1religion says:

no need to sing viva ronaldo.

just sing viva da Silva!!! i reallly wanna see this one take off, BIG style!!

viva da silvaaaaaaaaa, viva da silvaaaaaaaaaa,
runnin up the pitch, don’t know which ones which,
    viva da silva

  16. ELiam says:

    Very nicely put rooninho!

As to mister vishnu1729 – please show some class. That boy did fantastically for us and I would love it if he rejoined us after some time in Madrid, and no I dont think thats unreal or impossible.

The fact of the matter is – he still has a lot of affection for United, and always will, because he is no fool, he knows how much this club, SAF and the coaching staff did for him. And obviously he remembers our fans very well.

  17. Big Bad Wesley Brown says:

[top red]Fuck off, Ronnie you traitor. We never needed you anyway.[/top red]

  18. Always Be Closing says:

    Genius, mufc1religion!

Nice comments from Ron, but that’s all it is now. Grass is always greener.

  19. weeeldrinkadrinkadrink says:

hard to have any sympathy for him after joining that vulgar filthy mob. It’s not a football club,it’s a circus. They treat players and managers like lumps of meat but everyone knows that before they go.I suppose they will get more land rezoned by the Spanish government and try and buy Rooney,Torres,Messi etc next season when instant success doesn’t happen, that’s life at Virus Mobdrid,Ronny, get used used to it,they will sell you for 50 pence in a few years and nobody will remember you………….

  20. Aig alex is god says:

    Big bad wesley brown.

Thats too harsh mate.no ronnie.no 3 league crowns,no champions league crown and no 2 champions league finals in a row.for all his antics last summer ron was the best united player by miles in 06-07 and 07-08.i am not saying we were a one man team at all but ronny was special and gave us special memories.he was the inspiration we lacked since 03.let his off the field antics not overshadow what he did on the pitch.he has never said anything disrespectful about united.

  21. Big Bad Wesley Brown says:

I was joking, mate. That’s how I’ve heard some of our fans talk about Ronnie.

  22. Aig alex is god says:

    Big bad wesley brown.

Apologies mate.as you said a lot of fans talk like that about him.so you cant get when someone is joking.

Dont know why, but like SAF i have a soft corner for him despite all his unwanted deeds in the summer of 2008.

  23. Gee says:

I dont hate Ronnie coz he was and is fucking brilliant simply put!! and the more he misses us the shitter madrid will be coz they are fucking turd without him!! He wishes he had stayed at Utd deep down and I love it coz now he knows what he really had and left!! the more he realises it the more he will want it back!! well thats my dream anyway lol!!

  24. SteniS says:

Hah, almost as stupid as when Arshavin asked Arsenal’s fans to be more like Liverpool’s. He clearly misses the atmosphere in England, even though we all know it could be alot better at OT at times.

  25. Gudjohnsen says:

Is it just me or is Ronaldo missing United a lot more than he had expected? This is the second time in a short while how he talks about the time at United. In his last interview he admitted to miss Manchester a bit. Now he’s telling the Real Madrid fans to be more like the Man Utd fans…

  26. Mr Santos says:

I went to Madrid – Getafe at the end of October, Real had 10 men, Pepe got sent off for a last man foul. Every decision made by the ref that went against Real got boos & whistles from the home fans, my Real Madrid supporting uncle took me to that game. I’d be embarrassed if United acted like that. EVER. At least he hates Fernando Torres too! Every time we drove past a billboard with Torres on it he put the window down and swore it at. :D

  27. catotraa says:

A while after seeing Ronaldo go out the doors at OT, I realised that Real Madrid was kindof his “carrot” when he was playing soccer in his garden, just like we all dreamed of playing for United when we were young.
But now, I’m starting to think that Ron is starting to realise the non-denying saying “the only place you go after manchester united is down”.
He wasn’t that clever with his flirting with Real Madrid while here, but I guess Real Madrid beeing his “carrot” was the reason for that.
Now that reality has hit him in the face, I’m starting to think that maybe he’ll come back one day, and know to appreciate our great club. Imagine Ronaldo not flirting with other clubs and giving his best in every game, at the peak of his career! Because as it is now, i think the bigguys at Bernabeu is getting tired of his comments about us, and i also think he sincerely miss Rooney, the one player who completed Ronaldo.

    On another note:
    @mufc1religion
Really love that song! It has to become a hit!! I’ll seriously start singing it from now on, wherever I am

  28. mummy85 says:

    @Mr Santos

I’d have told my real madrid supporting uncle 2 fuck off, i’m not watching that shower of shite aka real madrid!!

  29. Datnana says:

Sure the Ronnie deal had a compulsory buy back clause, the reason why the money has not been spent and why he’s keeping in touch. Anybody?

  30. Suhail_Mohammed10 says:

Still of a soft spot eh?

  31. KVN says:

Well CR7 was well treated by SAF and the coaching staff. In his mind he had imagined RM would have been a certain way. yes the culture and language is similar to his own and yes the weather is a lot better than manchester. but there’s certain things money just can’t buy. THAT’s joy and contentment. Players especially ones like CR7 with big egos like to and want to feel loved. not treated as some kind of meat or a number.
SAF showed Ronnie respect and love like a father. that’s why he allowed him to get away with so much on the pitch because he knew more often than not Ronnie would deliver. Another imortant factor is that he lost his real dad, and when SAF stepped in, that made their relationship even stronger. Now at Madrid, as good as it is, in terms of wages and attention, and playing for his “dream” team. the reality for him is that there isn’t a SAF or Rooney (his footballing brother) and friends. it’s just him and 10 other players. @ man united it was lots of enjoyment + work, @ madrid it’s just work + little enjoyment.
whilst the Madrid players respect him as a footballer, outside of that he’s not really respected by RVN, Raul, Casillas, Benzema, Kaka.
I for one would love to see him back but doubt very much it would happen. i enjoyed him whilst he played for the greatest club in the world and still watch him play at RM bcos he is their star player.

  32. Xyth says:

If he loved us as much as he says, he would have stayed a bit longer.
Spain can never match England for passion in it’s stadiums.

  33. sppibsihmkcrkg says:

he’s took his opportunity while he can. Whose to say if he had of stayed he would’ve brought in the same amount he did for us a yr later. Whose to say he would’ve remained injury free and been able to complete his DREAM move to madrid. This isn’t a mercenary move like heinze to madrid or a sulky stroppy move like cuntez to city. This was a case of a player chasing his dream move, and he’s never once shirked away from the fact that united helped him become the player he is and enable him to fulfil his dream. He’s always been courteous about his time here, and acknowledged the contributions made by fergie, the whole united staff and team. Can think of worse mannered and more ill intentioned players for ppl to vent their ire at, but then none of them went on to be as successful a player as ronaldo hey

  34. Corea says:

LOL. I envy all the people who know everything about the way Ronaldo is being treated in Madrid. You are very lucky to be able to know all of these stuff, guys.

  35. cav says:

Real fans don’t treat their players well because the club doesn’t treat their players well. What did he expect?

  36. dl says:

it’s not just utd fans as X alonso a couple of times now i think has mentioned that the liverpool fans are to best in the world – my point being that fans of the english leagues teams (pl to conference) are passionate about the clubs that they support, through the bad and the good, going to all lengths to support their team (for example i have many mates who support league 1/2 teams in this country who live anywhere from an hr away from and the other end of the country from who religiously travel by various means to all their respective home (and sometimes away) games and do it with a smile on their faces – i’m sure all of you know someone like that as well).
i get the impression that they don’t have the same culture in the majority of Spanish football and for them the sport is more of a glamour/fashion thing whereas for us it’s a romance, a long term sometimes all consuming love affair that we’ve had for yrs with the beautiful game. It is something that they will probably never understand at real madrid and are unlikely to experience it either in its purest form (at least not the same way that english clubs like man utd, arsenal and liverpool’s clubs and fans do anyway)
on ronaldo: i will stand on what i’ve said before – that he used the club as a stepping stone and it’s unlikely he misses us or truly cared about us like we did him whilst he was with us and he’s partly at least saying positive things about td to make himself good and up his appeal. However with him currently perceiving madrid as heaven on earth i think it’s due to the theory of like when someone gets in their head that they won’t like doing something so when they come to trying it they don’t (ie..a Self-Fulfilling Prophecy) – basically ronaldo got it in his head from an early age that rm was this fantastic and magical place and because of these early imagine perceptions of what madrid is to him even if when he moved to rm over the summer to everyone elses eyes they where horrible to them it was always going to be likely that the move panned out like in his dream perceptions.
I just wonder that in the ( increasely unlikely event that ronaldo hits a long term slump in form or injury ( 8-12 months plus)) how the madrid faithful(!) and club itself react, if they’d make the same effect that we did when he played with us. You could see there being trouble if the ironic was to happen this summer and ronaldo finds himself in another post wc mess, this time involving spain (could happen as spain and portugal are likely to meet in the 1st Ko) – now that would be interesting!

  37. dl says:

    @KVN

you’re wrong about him not being respected by other rm players – reports from all sources suggest that he’s very well respected within madrid and a popular figure amongst his teammates as well so i don’t know how you reached the conclusion you did there

  38. Dave Mack says:

Simple as this. He loves being at RM but he continues to show how much respect he has for the club that made him the best player in the world that he can’t help paying us a compliment at every opportunity.

    CR 7 ….Class Act…. Tevez …Ass Attack.

  39. manchuchu says:

    Enough Ronaldo articles already…

How do we move on if we get a ronny article every fortnight?
